Had a 1pm Easter reservation here today. We weren't that hungry at that time and the place was kind of empty so we went around 1:30 and they were very accommodating for our party of 5. (4 adults 1 child). We sat down and ordered some drinks and waited for menus. Turns out it was a buffet...which no one explained to us. That's alright though because sometimes doing ya own thing works! Our server was nice, not sure what his name was, not sure he actually said it, and he was very soft spoken. On to food- my first plate I tried (pictured) had a zucchini and pepper medley, spicy green beans with prosciutto, tomato basil pasta, and sausage with peppers and onions. This place was DELICIOUS. I got seconds of each thing! The dessert was not labeled but I went for it anyways. Turned out to be some sort of dark chocolate truffle cake thing. Still very yummy! I would come back here, they gave me no reason not to. However at $48 a person to eat, it's a bit steep for a buffet. I'll try all the restaurants out at Foxwoods first!

Alta Strada is on the lower side of the higher end gourmet restaurants at Foxwoods. I wasn't impressed with their chitarra dish (shrimp fra diavolo, basil, and tomato). It took almost an hour to serve dinner to my party of 10 when the restaurant was fairly empty.

The ambiance of the restaurant is great, very warm rustic feel and I loved the look of the big windows at the back of the dining room with the springtime trees in bloom outside. Started with some cocktails and warm bread with olive oil. We decided on a margherita pizza to split as an appetizer along with some Parmesan fries. My boyfriend got gnocchi for his entree while I got eggplant Parmesan. Boyfriend really loved his gnocchi, he commented on how soft and pillowy it was and finished the whole bowl; he also gave me a bite of it and can also concur that the quality of the gnocchi they use is great. My eggplant parm was pretty good; not my favorite one that I've ever had, but still good. It's also a very sizable portion so I had plenty to take home. The pizza was probably the highlight of the meal for me, absolutely delicious and would definitely return for that pizza alone. We got a dessert special to go, and they also offer complimentary limoncello shots to finish off your time there. To top it all off, the service here was personable, attentive and overall excellent. This is definitely a place for us to always keep on our radar whenever we're in the area.

Ordering was very easy online, even though the prices seemed a bit high. We ordered $109 worth of food...Arancini ($16), garlic bread with cheese($16), Penne al Vodka with sautéed chicken($32), and the Alfredo with chicken cutlet($38). I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous

There's something about seeing the cooks working the line that adds another layer to the experience. It feels lively, energetic, and authentic. We started with a variety of appetizers because, honestly, everything on the menu sounded amazing. First came the bread service with two olive oils. The bread was light and airy, with just enough chew, and it soaked up the oil and sauce like it knew exactly what its job was. Next up were the meatballs, served in a rich tomato sauce with ricotta and shaved Parmigiano. The meatballs had a unique flavor thanks to the sausage mixed into the blend. They were tender, savory, and deeply satisfying. The sauce was chunky and well-balanced, just the right touch of sweetness without tipping into acidity. We also ordered the arancini, which came crisp on the outside and packed with umami flavor, helped along by the truffle sauce. One bite and you understand why these little rice bombs are such a classic. And then there was the cheese board, a nice variety that gave everyone something different to pick at between bites of everything else. For my main course, I went with the Pork Chop Giambotta. The pork chop was grilled beautifully, tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It was topped with a giambotta, a rustic Italian stew of vegetables that included fingerling potatoes, sausage, hot cherry peppers, vinegar, garlic, and onions. This dish hit every note on the palate, sweet, savory, tangy, and just enough heat to keep things interesting. One of those plates where every forkful gives you a slightly different combination of flavors. It was a great meal, made even better by sharing it with family. And the service deserves a mention as well. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, the kind of hospitality that makes the whole evening feel effortless. No free bread at an Italian restaurant is a pet peeve of mine, total disgrace ... pasta is cheap, the least you could do is offer free bread. We also really enjoyed the fact that he waited until we were about halfway done with our appetizer before he placed our entrée order with the cooks. He made sure that we had enough time to finish our appetizer before our dinner plates arrived, which was a very nice touch. There are not many restaurants and staff that do this. We tried the charcuterie, board and bread for our appetizers. The charcuterie board presentation was beautiful and it was a very tasty board as well. The bread was good, but nothing outstanding.
