I brought her a BRAND NEW tuxedo for my wedding that I purchased and she literally ruined it! It was irreparable and I had to buy another. The stitching was crooked, it was hemmed too short, and the jacket was taken in too tight. I might have been able to get it fixed but she cut it. She kept saying that she had been doing this for years but I think I honestly could have done a better job myself (I got a D in Home Economics in 7th grade). I have used Sandy now 1 time but will continue to use her for as long as she's doing alterations! I went to drop off my item around 9am expecting to just drop and go. She asked me to wait a sec and then did the job while I waited. Pretty sure it took her less than 10 min and the job was flawless. Unprofessional and poor quality. I was looking to use a local small business to hem my wedding dress and found her. She stated she would have my dress hems in 1 weeks time (the next Saturday, dropped it off on a Friday) and that she would text me when it was completed. I contacted her for an update after not hearing from her the Monday following the expected completion date. She replied stating the dress would be ready by Wednesday. I didn't hear from her on Wednesday but attempted to pick it up and she was not there. I text her and after a few messages she agreed I could come by on Friday at a specific time. On Friday, I went to pick up the dress and the dress wasn't ready. At this point, I was beyond frustrated. I agreed to come back the next day (two weeks after I had originally dropped it off). In the morning the next day, she text me stating she wouldn't be open. I insisted I needed my dress and she agreed I could pick it up on Sunday. After ALLLL OF THAT, the dress was not hemmed the correct lengths (under layer too short and front of the outer layer drags on the ground). VERY disappointing read more

I took a dress of my granddaughters to be altered to her, and my granddaughter stopped by and she sized it for her. It was there for almost a year, and I kept calling her and trying to see when it would be done and she said she tried calling my granddaughter, but my granddaughter had no call listed on her phone all that time. The workmanship was OK but the dress was brand new out of the box when we took it to her, and when we got it back to sleeves were very dirty, as if it had been worn. And after all that time, she still charged her quite a bit for having to wait that long ....there should've been almost no charge for having to wait that long and then receiving the item back dirty. read more

I took several dresses to her, and she made a mess of them. I can see better than the way these dresses look. Because it was such a hassle to get my stuff back I didn't even want to deal with Sandy "fixing" the issues. I have had to take them to a different seamstress to fix. It was also a process to get my items back. I waited 2 months and she never called, finally I called to see if my stuff was done then multiple messages and times arranged and then she wouldn't be there. This is only my second time using Sandy for alterations and I will NEVER use her service again. First she was going to bring them back to me on Thursday, that didn't happen. Then she said she would bring them to be at 7:30am on Friday. That turned into early afternoon after I texted and called her. After seeing a review about her not returning clothes (not sure if that's true or not) I made numerous attempts to reach her via phone and text, I couldn't reach her for hours. I spent most of my afternoon trying to connect with her and find out when my clothes would be returned. Finally at 4pm she picked up! With a long winded excuse of "I forgot" and "traffic could be bad"- not my problem that you waited until the end of the day and HOW could you forget when I've been doing nothing but texting and leaving you voicemails. Very frustrating to say the least. It just kept getting more and more ridiculous. Finally I have my clothes back, just when I was about to come to terms with never getting them back. read more

Auntie Sandy PICKS UP AND DELIVERS. Though she is based in Nampa she has no problem coming to you in Boise. She met me at my place of business during my lunch hour this past Thursday. We did a fitting in the ladies room and by FRIDAY midmorning she was done with six of the seven items I'd left with her (pants to be taken in, hemmed and repaired) Let's talk prices.. Auntie Sandy quoted me $12 per item taken in and $7 for hems. I had two pair of jeans with frayed inseams that needed repair and she did it all for a mere $45!! Auntie Sandy is a talented tailor/seamstress who specializes in childrens clothing.. however she came highly recommended to me by someone who knew I was in serious need of some clothing alterations and that I didn't have time to run around to different places. I will not use anyone else for alterations in the future, for the convenience and the price and she's a darned nice lady to boot! One caution, if she is coming to your office be sure you have somewhere away from your work area to have her do your fittings as she usually has her young son with her. read more

Sandy has done some amazing work for me. I have an incredibly beautiful knitted duster in a Southwestern style which was too big for me. She was able to take it in for me and it fits beautifully. Recently she took in another beautiful sweater and a jacket, again fits beautifully. For those who might not know, she was in a terrible auto accident at the beginning of summer and her ability to work was delayed until she was better. She's doing great now and if you've experienced any issues, please give her another try. read more

I would have to concur. I have shown up last minute needing a pair of expensive jeans hemmed, and Sandy does it no problem -- one time right there in front of me. She was done within 15 minutes. Awesome. She let me try them on right there for measurements and she knows what she is doing. Even though she is a busy lady, she knows customer service is key to having a successful business. I am glad to see she is getting such positive recognition on Yelp. Thanks, Sandy, for my last-minute hems when nobody in the valley seemed to be able to fit me in. The business in the 8th Street Marketplace quoted me more than double what Sandy charged and, on top of that, wanted extra for it to be expedited. We are talking more than three times what Sandy charged me, and they weren't going to be able to get to them for a couple days at the very least. read more

What a fantastic lady! I called several different alterations shops when my daughter's Prom dress arrived 5 days before the dance too long and with a train. Only Alterations by Auntie Sandy said "yes" to a last minute alteration. In fact, she told me she "never says no" to Prom girls...and had been working crazy long days (and nights) the last few weeks on Prom dresses. The dress turned out PERFECT and the alterations were so inexpensive! She could have raised her prices to take advantage of my last minute desperation; but she is just a hardworking, honest business owner and I will recommend her services to all of my friends and family. Dropped to pairs of shorts off to have zipper replaced. After two weeks I texted her for an update , after two days she replied ,I still have them here. But never gave me an update, very strange /weird. Did not hear anything for almost another two weeks, so text again to see about the shorts , no response until next day , and told me she just got back in town? But still did not say anything about shorts? Later she sent another text saying she was going to dinner, again strange/weird. So I finally text her and say I will come and get , and have someone else fix that has the time. She replies back saying , that is fine ,and sorry about the delay , time seems to getting away from me lately , very strange. Bottom line , I go pick up shorts , and they have been fixed to my surprise , not the best job , but ok. Wonder how long they had been done. Worst experience ever I took my wedding dress dress to her with a set time when I needed it done I needed it laced up in the back I was so excited she could do it for me I texted her a few days before I was supposed to pick it up and she said nothing to me nothing to the sort that she didn't even do anything to my dress but cut the back of it she had it two weeks and all she did was cut it. She called me and hour before I was supposed to pick it up to tell me that she didn't even get to it I was so disappointed and all wanted was my dress back at that point ill never go back and will never recommend this place to anyone !! read more

I am only giving a 1 star because there is no 0 star rating. Yes she picks up and delivers but like everyone else, she did not return my pants when she said she would. She ended up delivering my pants to me at midnight. Then, when I got them back I discovered that she ruined all 5 pair. Each pant leg was a different length and she CUT the material so I could not fix the ones that she cut too short. She also sewed them in weird colors such as blue and red on black pants. 2 pair needed to be taken in and not only did she take them in way too much but she sewed them crooked. I bought a dress on ebay and when I got it the size was not right. I didn't have time to send it back so I called around to have a corset back put in. Most places quoted twice as much as Auntie Sandy and couldn't have it done for three or four days. Auntie Sandy picked it up and had it done in one day.
