Great crew here at Altra. We had some minor body damage to our Toyota SUV that we were looking to have fixed out of pocket. Went to two different shops in the west valley first and got similar bids but then decided to try Altra as well based on online reviews. Very glad we did--they came in considerably cheaper than the competition (20-25% less) and with comparable work based on the written estimates. The finished product was top notch...back to new. They took the time to tell us each step in the process, kept us posted on job progress with text updates each day. Roger is one of the good ones. He's fixed my car twice so far. The first time was body work. This time it was both body work and mechanical. He told me the car would be done by Friday, he would try to get it done by Thursday. I called him Wednesday and he said they finished it because they knew I had been paying for a rental car. Roger is fair, kind and helpful. The first time I went to Roger, I didn't want to rent a car so he drove me 20 minutes back to my apartment. Our insurance company recommended that we go to Altra after a car accident and I am so glad we did. I cannot be more impressed with the staff and service there. They kept us up-to-date with text messages about the repairs, they spoke with us about what they thought was actually necessary to fix and what we should leave alone, and they made the whole process seamless. We had to return our car to them once more for something to be reset. When it was done, they brought the car to my work and took the rental car back. They are a family-owned shop, and they treat their customers with respect that isn't seen often these days. My truck got hit with a bad fender bender while driving around Globe. I was devastated because I had always been a real defensive, safety conscious driver. But it happened. You just can't turn back the clock. I live in the Phoenix metropolitan area, so I had to find a repair, body shop, collision center. I looked at the yelp ratings on-line, and then I discovered Altra. Altra had no bad reviews whatsoever - all of the reviews were very good to excellent ones! How often does one find that these days? I had a list of a few collision repair places to visit, and all of them had pretty good reviews on yelp. My first visit was with Altra. I had to wait because they had a bunch of people waiting for service. This is generally a good sign. When Roger finally got to me, he was completely professional, and explained everything to me - and I mean everything. There was no wish-washiness, or trying to do a rushed preliminary estimate of the damages on my vehicle. He took the time to examine everything. We even popped the hood to survey everything, and I relayed to him my concerns about the front right tire alignment. He also warned me about the Insurance guys who often demand all the repairs use the cheapest materials possible, 'aftermarket,' with the monopoly guys who run it, 'Keystone.' But as Roger told me, if the aftermarket part doesn't work, then they will order the factory version - regardless of what the insurance companies whine about. Roger surveyed everything around the damaged area, and so then we went inside his office, and he listed all the repairs to be done on his computer screen facing the customer. He was completely thorough, specific and honest in his printed estimate. The final cost was in the thousands, and I had a thousand deductible, so I was floored. But I would rather have an attentiveness to specifics and honesty in a collision repair shop. I was duly impressed with such a skilled attention to detail. I also noticed that this is a one shop outfit. Altra is not a franchise - so I don't want any fast food jobs done on my truck - especially after the trauma of a fender bender. I visited the other collision repair shops in the area, and I was shocked with the differences between Altra and the other shops. At the other shops, the guys dong the estimates just did a quick look over my vehicle for about two minutes, then disappeared into a office, leaving me in the waiting area, and then they came out with a printed out estimate. One shop didn't even give me a printed estimate - but just said some random verbal approximation. Laziness and sloth show quite plainly to a customer - Altra was definitely not in this group. Mind you, all of the other shops had good Yelp reviews too. I was definitely returning to Altra. The next week, I brought my truck into Altra and Brock handled the paperwork and logistics perfectly. They gave me a week to 10 days. It actually took three weeks - not due to the fault of Altra however; instead, it was due to my own insurance. Brock at Altra totally kept me in the loop with regular texts and phone calls on the progress and the issues with my insurance. The insurance did not do an estimate my vehicle until five days later, after I had brought it into the shop! Brock informed me about the lack of service, so I got on it. I had to do the Insurance company's work and make a whole bunch of calls in order to get some insurance adjuster in the region to visit Altra and do an estimate on my vehicle. The next issue was that some of the aftermarket parts did not fit on my truck, so Altra had to go back and forth with the insurance company and have them sign the papers for the factory parts. Again, the Insurance company took their time, so I had to again make calls pleading for them to send in the signed invoices, so I could finally receive my truck. Finally, the work was completed, and so I picked it up a week ago, from the writing of this review. My truck was sitting right in front of the shop. I was amazed at the final work. It looked like my truck had never experienced a fender bender accident at all. It was absolutely stunning. It almost looked brand new, like when I had first purchased it about two and half years ago. Brock went over all of the repairs with me, and told me which parts were aftermarket and which ones were factory. Brock addressed my concerns with the tire issue, and said that after test driving it and examining it, it seemed fine. He did say that I should watch for the AC, since they had to take out the radiator and reassemble it again. All the parts had lifetime warranties, so I could bring the truck for any issues concerning the parts and labor. I drove my truck around the Phoenix metropolitan area and up to Flagstaff. The truck ran great with no problems. There is a reason Altra always receives top five star reviews. Altra has maintained its honesty, honor and professionalism. After getting rear ended I called the shop my insurance company recommended for repairs. The reception I got was pretty poor - no sense of urgency, and they didn't sound like they really wanted my business. I got more phone numbers from my insurance company and ended up calling Altra since they were fairly close by. Roger was very positive on the phone and seemed very interested in my business. I took the car in the next day. He had already arranged for a rental car from Enterprise - they picked me up. Over the course of the next 10 days I got regular updates from Kelly and Roger. They handled all of the interaction with the insurance company, advised of any changes in the required repairs, and kept me apprised of their anticipated completion date, The car was completed on time and looked and drove great. Altra is not a big box repair center where you never see or speak with the same person twice. Its a smaller privately owned shop, run like a business that wants to grow and build a clientele. They do all of the things to make the experience as positive as possible for the customer. I'd use them again in a heartbeat and would recommend them highly. read more
