I was so pleased when I called Les on a Saturday afternoon and he said "bring your car right over." My little red Mercedes Benz had a front bumper problem which I had taken to an Auto Body and was told that in order to fix it, they would have to take it apart and were concerned that they wouldn't be able to find the parts needed without getting into a LOT of money...and then might not be able to repair it. Les looked at my car and gave me a price to make the repairs to the bumper, repaint the entire bumper and the hood and any other scratches on the car. I am just seeing Les's response now, and have no idea what he is talking about. I really hope that he has me confused with someone else because what he describes absolutely, positively never happened. I spoke with Les on the phone at approximately 10 am on Monday, May 8th and then drove to his house and met with him about an hour later at 11 am. It was then that he looked at my car and gave me an estimate and because he chose not to give me a date and time to perform the work then, he promised to call me back that afternoon to schedule a day to work on the car that week. That is the ONLY time I ever met face to face with Les and was the last time that I ever spoke with him, because as I wrote in my original review, he simply just never called me back, as he had promised that he would. This story about him calling me back and then me having gone over his house the night before the supposed appointment to do the work (one was never scheduled, as already noted) is pure fiction. It never happened. I hope Les is confused, because what he wrote is totally untrue and inaccurate as it applies to me. His response, that relies on a meeting that was just made up and never happened, actually makes this whole incident worse for me than what he did originally. I waited a little before writing a review to see how the work would stand up. Let me say that I am always looking for good work at a good price by motivated personages. For jobs where I am not looking to pay full commercial price, I am open to ma and pa shops. I have used Maaco in the past more than once as a comparator. I should also say that Les, a former used car salesman, is a very nice and personable elderly man. He responds quickly to inquiry when earning your business. He runs an out of home business in a residential area (NOT a professional shop in a commercial building). Most of are okay with this you get good work at a great price. His reviews online were pretty good though with some notable negative reviews. I sought to have bumper and side panels painted after the Arizona road rock debris chipped my paint job. I also needed the bumper guard installed behind it, which he agreed to install. The car is an upscale sedan that has custom body panels. I met with Les in person at his home and he agreed to take on the project straight away and said with confidence (ie Bumper "Masters") that he could get a beautiful result. He required a portion payment upfront. His price was actually not that cheap though cheaper than a factory level job ($2400 vs $4800). It priced out at more than Maaco but he spoke about the quality of his work as being much higher than Maaco. At the time I did not realize that the paint work was going to be done on his driveway rather than in a protected professional environment. It was only when I drove back to drop off some supplies that I saw the project was on his driveway. Concern notwithstanding, I kept my fingers crossed. The next day, Les was quick to get back with me that the paint job was completed. I picked the vehicle up in the evening. The car looked much better without the paint chips. It was not until the next day under sunlight conditions that I realized that the paint did not match the body. There was also overspray on other panels and bubbling/dripping marks. There was also croccodile skin patches on the side panels. It was noticed by others, including my auto mechanic, who worked 12 years at a body shop previously, angrily opined that this was a poor job, citing that the parts were not sanded, not detrimmed, and were simply taped off. He promised me that in only a few months the paint would start peeling away at the edges (Les assured me that wouldn't happen). Surprised that this was not caught by Les, I brought the car back to him. He agreed that the work was substandard and would redo the job. I asked if he could match the color exactly using a color meter this time. The gentlemen he subcontracted to do the work told me that he had worked for Mercedes previously in North Scottsdale, and while that may have been true, it is hard to believe he did paint work for them as Mercedes and German automobiles have exceptionally high standards for paint work. Second go around. Les told me that he would repair the substandard work but that he could not promise factory-level results. The panels and bumper were repainted and this time blended much better with the rest of the car (though not perfectly). I looked at the paint job much more closely this time. The good news was that there was no crocodile skin patches this time. He was somewhat nervous and asked that I sign a document saying that I was fully satisfied and that there were no problems with the job. I told him I had never been asked to sign such a document leaving auto care services. I told him "Les I don't plan to sue you." He exhaled in relief. The bumper guard was not installed and I reminded him that he said he would install it for me. He did not respond to my repeated calls and text messages. After 30 days of nonresponse, I safely surmised that he wasn't going to do it and was wiping his hands of the project. Fast forward. Well sadly my mechanic was right. Within a month or two, the paint began peeling away from the edges. I also noticed at that time that he had painted over the previous paint job (ie the paint divets were now just in the paint color). I will have to get the job redone somewhere else. Final thoughts. I am rooting for Les and his out of home business with the promise of less expensive work. I am certain he would agree, however, that he did not achieve professional result. And it must be said that Les does not provide you with any guarantees of his work or a warranty other than his word. If he is able to get the work done indoors and hire more competent painters, perhaps things would be more optimistic. But painting the car on the driveway without detrimming will always achieve substandard results. In comparison, Maaco did a better job on a bumper job from several years ago (it is not peeling at all and still looks new). With a warranty, and as hard as it is to say, you are also better off going to Maaco or some another business. Final judgement: I can NOT recommend this business. read more

Very pleasant and informative regarding his type of service. He was easy to work with and flexible regarding dates and times. He completed the job ahead of schedule and the quality of the work was wonderful. I recommend cleaning your car before repair. He's not a car shop so he won't run it through the wash for you. Such an amazing experience for my husband and I! Having car issues is never easy and very stressful. Les, the owner, is very professional, super nice, very quick, and gets what Needs to be done right away! I called Him late Tuesday night and left a voicemail for him. I got a phone call at 6 AM the next day!! He was very quick to respond to my voicemail and get the ball rolling. He asked for pictures of our vehicle, and our vehicle information so he can order the parts right away for a new bumper. We dropped our vehicle off Wednesday night, and it was ready by Friday night. (Other places we called would have been finished in over a week). Not only that, but for the issues we needed done, it was way cheaper than the quote we got from other places. So this tow company refused to use the tow hook built in to my car, insisting on fastening their chain to the frame instead. When they offloaded from their flatbed, this chain caught on my front bumper and virtually ripped it in half. They don't make bumpers for a 1998 Mercedes S320 any more; a two-month nationwide search turned up nothing. My tech steered me to BumperDoc, who first said "no," then said "Well, they *could* ... but it wouldn't be a *good* repair, and no warranty." Another online search brought me to BUMPERMASTERS. Jackpot. Les Sandig, the owner, said he could definitely fix it, explained the process, and within two days delivered and mounted a repaired bumper that looks like it came straight off the showroom floor. Not a flaw in it. If your car develops a fender ding, a parking lot scratch, a messed-up bumper ... do not even consider anyplace else. GO STRAIGHT to BumperMasters.
