After reading the reviews on Yelp and just living a 2 min drive away from them I went there this morning to get my car smogged. They where super busy and said I could leave the car and that they would squeeze it in in-between during the day. They called me an hour later to let me know the car was ready. Awesome! I gotta show some love for AMA AutoCare. I have used this place twice now and they've fixed 4 things with my car. Apparently this place is under new ownership, and I didn't use it with the previous owners, but the current business is great! Patti and her team are really solid people. I am also really impressed how much cheaper they are than the Toyota dealership I bought my car from which I had previously used for all of my maintenance. I also love how close AMA is to my home. Don't believe any of the humdrum reviews. These guys are byyy farrr the best mechanic shop you'll ever find! I am serious! Every time (and I mean every time) I go there I end up paying less than half of what I expect. They could have easily have charged me double(and most would) and I wouldn't have been surprised or upset. I've been to lots of other shops and it seemed impossible to have anything done without being charged well over $200. But not with these guys. They are honest to the very core. As a small business owner myself I don't know see how they make a profit, but they've been in business a long time so they've got something figured out. And by sides their great prices they are very friendly and accommodating as well. Always willing to spend the time to check out something going on with one of my vehicles even if they are swamped. I started going to AMA, using Amir, about 3 years ago, after I had several experiences where I felt ripped off. Now, my entire family goes to this shop for all auto care because our experience has been so positive. This guy is honest! I have never felt overcharged (he has replaced radiators, engine gaskets, found leaks, fixed headlights,etc). He works on all our cars, old, new, Suvs, etc. He has advised me when I DON"T need stuff done unnecessarily, saving me money that I would have otherwise paid for. Yelp needs an option for negative stars. At all costs, avoid the crooks at AMA auto care. My car ran much worse when I left the place, and they wouldn't take it back to get the job done correctly. Their foul language and poor customer treatment led me to look elsewhere for qualified mechanics - there are many other great options in the area, and I could've happily avoided their f-bombs and other slurs. read more

I took my car here 6 months ago to replace my brakes and resurface my rotors. My brakes have never been right since. On the freeway, my car pulsates disconcertingly when I apply the brakes. I brought my car back to this shop a month after they worked on my brakes, and they said that nothing was wrong. When I called this morning, after being placed on hold for a very long time, the person I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and hostile, would not stop interrupting and talking over me, and said that I would have to pay again to have my brakes fixed, and that they would never have given me my car back with the brakes not functioning properly (which they did.) I don't know what all of the good reviews are about, but I would not trust these guys with my car again. read more

I used to live nearby this shop so it was a no-brainer to go to them. Now I live way across town, but will still only bring my small fleet there! They are very trustworthy and friendly. The service is quick, which is great since one of my vehicles is a work truck. Amir knows who I am when I call, and seems more interested in having a long-term customer than merely making a quick buck. They understand that I don't necessarily want to do all the work my car needs, and are happy to do the part I can afford. Of course when I decide to have the work done I'll go to them too. My truck is biodiesel, which they are happy to work on. I would definitely recommend them to women friends as well, as they have always been really nice to my wife as well. read more

I had left my car key in Sonoma and knew I had a valet in my glove compartment. I was freaking out a little until I called these guys. Their customer service over the phone was amazing, they really helped me out. This was also on Labor Day, which made it so much more extraordinary. The technician Frank, was there at my house in under 30 minutes even though I was quoted 45. He opened my car and I was able to grab my valet key. This is my second Yelp review about AMA. AMA Auto is such an honest business. If you're looking for knowledgeable mechanics you need to take your car troubles to them. I took my 15 year old Toyota that needed a lot of work so I took it to AMA. What was great is they were truthful about what was going on with my car and how much it would cost. Any other mechanic would of just fixed my car to get my money, but not AMA. They told me the couple of thousands that would fix my car is more than what my car is worth. And they were totally correct. I really respect these business men who are honest and don't rip off their customers. To add, they were wonderful about checking out a used car I wanted to buy and they didn't charge me one penny for this inspection. AMA Auto is a business with integrity! read more

We had two cars break down in a period of a month. The first car needed new suspension and was fixed within a week (which was actually very quick considering we dropped it off at the shop on dec 30 and they were closed for over a week with the holidays). Second car overheated and completely destroyed the engine. The pricing is as fair as you can get with auto repair - usually its a huge rip off - and they're very honest and friendly. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the Bay Area. We had to have a fuel pump replaced 2 months ago at another place and they overcharged so much and also left the gas gage inaccurate. I've been coming here for years, and finally got around to writing this review. Just had another oil/filter change with them today. Amir and Mike are great mechanics! They will tell you what repairs you need, not need, or can wait. They carefully explain everything (and the cost) so you can make an informed decision. However, if you can't decide, they will help you make the right decision. They have done many repairs for my 20+ year old car over the years, including brakes, spark plugs, battery replacement, radiator, water pump, tons of oil and filter changes. Avoid these guys at all costs. The owner Anand needs a serious course in customer care. My car is now worse off than when I brought it in for simple repairs, and he refused to make it right. Instead, he basically told me to F off. I've never received such treatment from any auto shop in the Bay Area, over many years of getting service. Go elsewhere - any one else will treat you better. I love this place! Honest, fast, and great service. My check engine light came on. I brought it in without an appointment within an hour they called to tell me nothing was wrong with vehicle. When I went to pick up I thought they would charge a minimum of $60 for taking the time to check out problem. They didn't. No problem. No fee. Awesome!!
