The dining area is a tad small for the crowds they have on fri night, but i actually like a smaller more crowded place myself. Very impressed with how clean the take out restaurant was when I went in. They take your order quickly and asked what kind of car you have and bring out your order in a very quick manner. When I got home it was still hot.... Took approx 30 min from my house . No grease I had a small it was a perfect size for me and Dennis had a large. Just might take a ride this Friday. Ordered fish & chips. Fish was cooked perfectly but fries were soggy. Clam chowder had more potatoes than clams but overall it was good. Disappointed with the clam cakes. Ordered a half dozen and not one had a clam in it. Fried scallops are good but they were cut in half. Usually fried scallops come whole and never had them served like that. Everything I tried was good, my wife and I had scallops, clams strips and whole belly clams, stuffed clams and fish and chips, all of it was good, and at a reasonable price . First, I live near Cleveland, not in Rhode Island. During a visit to Providence, I asked Yelp for a great place for stuffed clams--"stuffies". Amaral's came up with a great rating and I was up for the 10-Mile drive. And I was not disappointed! Ordered on stuffie and it was great. Big chunks of clam in a seasoned bread stuffing with a crisp baked crust. Then a "small" fish & chips dinner. Two pieces of white fish on a pile of fries and a little cup of slaw. The fish was super fresh--nice and thick--with a crispy crust that had a hint of seeetness. Great tartar sauce and some shakes of malt vinegar and I'm in heaven. This place is legit. This is the real fish and chips that the real locals eat. Fresh as can be, crisp, flavorful, with none of those suspicious soggy bits. And they don't stiff you on the coleslaw or tartar sauce like SOME PLACES (Evelyn's, this means you). And if you go on Wednesday you can get real, authentic Portuguese sweet bread. Looking at the last two reviews, DO NOT worry about the neighborhood. Warren by and large is as safe as they come and Amaral's just happens to be next to a car dealership. I admit that the pavement is kind of nasty cause the town hates doing roadwork, and for some reason people think this means its a sketchy area. You'll find very little to no grease as you pick into your fish. The same goes for their clamcakes, lightly fried and served hot and fresh with ACTUAL CLAMS inside! They aren't just little spongy batter balls. The clam chowder won't disappoint either. They have red and white and I believe clear as well... That said the only right choice is white(go ahead and fight me). So for 2 fish and chip, 2 cups of chowder, 2 drinks, and half a dozen cakes it came to just under $40. The tone was set when I called to place my take out order. The man who answered was very friendly and I sensed I was in for a good dinner. I had the natural broth chowder which was very good and also the fish and chips. The fish was very good. It was nicely battered and not heavy. Since this was a take out order it is hard to judge the chips as fries are always soggy by the time you get home. Next on my list is to go back for the chowder and clam cakes!
