There was a hair in my food on my fish & chips and that made me lose my appetite although the service was good.

Stopped by Friday night 6/28/24 about 5 p.m., before it got too busy. We had the fried clam plate and a bowl of white chowder; the food exceeded expectations. They have a small seating area with soft drinks and bottles of water as well as tap water, inside and do a lot of takeout. Friendly, fast service and reasonable prices. The portion sizes are on the smaller size however, the price points match up, so it's all good! We will definitely come back! Recommended. read more

Ate here today for lunch with my mom, dad and sister to try this place out for the first time! We all got the same dishes to try, eat and share which was fish and chips, clam chowder, clam cakes, fried oysters and Portuguese soup. All of it tasted super good and delicious. The service and cashier was really friendly and nice to get our orders correctly. My first time at Amaral's. We got the fish and chips along with chowder and clam cakes. This review will not include the chowder, I'll explain why later. The fish and chip was a large order it's a good thing I wasn't that hungry. It consisted of 3-2oz pieces of either haddock or cod, no real way to differentiate by appearance or taste. It was clean and the batter was nice and crunchy, but lacked any real flavor. Fries were a small portion for the plate and just ordinary. Clam cakes had a good crunch and taste but hurt your eyes looking for the clams. Will I be back, yes. If anything I need to have the white chowder again to see if really is supposed to taste that way. In all my years in food service and going to different establishments I never tasted any clam chowder like that in my life. I don't know what they put in there but it didn't work for me. First chowder I couldn't finish and had to toss. YUK. If it's any better next time I'll update my review, otherwise it stands as the worst chowder ever. read more

Had fish and chips. The coating was oily, or wet- like it hasn't been cooked long enough. It tasted strange. I'm 76 years old and have eaten fish and chips all my life at places all over the state. First off... OMG... What NICE people and GREAT food!! We are visiting ( working) for the week in Providence. Today we decided to come visit Colt Park. Well it was a perfect sunny fall day and walking out in the fresh air made us hungry. Yelp here we come! Well this was sort of on our way back to Seekonk where we r staying. So the reviews were really good. And we r from Seattle area and we're jonsin' for some seafood ya know??!! We were ready to graze.. I ordered a combo white Chowder & clam cakes. And yea what everybody else said perfectly cooked and not greasy. Which means they got their oil perfect for non absorption !! Both fabulous. Hubby had combo seafood dinner. Also perfect. Is this sounding like a trend? Well yes yes it is. Then we were talking to the owner and we asked what is the natural Chowder ? Well it's clear broth. Mmmmm. Guess what?.... He brought us a sample. Then we asked if Calamari was rings.... He brought us a sample!!! Omg then we wanted more slaw. How much?? He brought us some!! What a guy. Lots of locals getting food to go coming in too. I say we left so happy and full but not too bad. We saw on one review that they have Sweet Bread on Thursdays ( sells out on Friday). His mother still makes it!! He said it's a rising in the back!! Sooo guess we will have to come back.... Haha and get some of that tomorrow!! Lol did I say what a great place this is?? U are BOOKMARKED!! We came back the next day to get some bread and Tony said it didn't rise as much ( prob got chilly at nite). So we decided we come back on Friday. We drove from Schenectady in a rental (has biz in Providence nite b4). So why not combine biz with pleasure!! Had two fish n chips. That breaking is so delicate it just melts in your mouth! Ordered also extra slaw natch, calamari natch, clam chowda natch. Then we ordered a blade meat Sammy. The son kept it separate for us since it will be warmed up later in hotel room. We missed Tony THIS time but we may be back on r way out tomorrow!! Ok we r back July'19. Finished with work and had to come. Driving on the way here we were jonsing for our fav place, people & food! Although I have sad news that the Mama died a month ago. She made the Portuguese bread. She taught one of the offspring the tricks of the bread so I'm excited. But it's tues and bread is on thurs! So it's hopping in here today!!! One big group in for a POW wow! He he. 12 people ordered before us and as we sat down food was coming out! A well oiled machine in here. We had our smorgasbord of tastes. White clam chowder, stuffie, coleslaw, fish n chips, Calamari, Portuguese soup and some extra fish! We shared and ate it all!!! So satisfying coming in here. Ordered takeout from here on Saturday and my only question is why I never knew this place existed before this weekend. We ordered clam cakes/chowder and a large fish and chips. The clam cakes were crispy and the red chowder was chock full of clams and potatoes. Next time I want to try their Portugeuse kale soup. The fish was flaky and cooked well, although the breading was a little too thick. Fries were fries - nothing special, but tasty and crisp. And the prices are so reasonable, especially compared to other seafood places. The menu is limited to primarily fried food, but if that is what you are craving this is your place! read more

I've been dying to try some New England fish and chips since the only local East Coast goodie I've had are lobster rolls. Amaral's is pretty far from central Providence, but worth the drive. It is a small, tidy shop with a designated ordering window and a few tables for indoor seating. I got the fish and chips to-go and they were absolutely delicious. The fish was light and fluffy; not heavy or oily at all. The chips (or "fries" for normal people) were thick-cut and tasty as well. The sour, creamy tartar sauce balanced the other flavors nicely. I will definitely be trying fish and chips from other restaurants in Rhode Island, but for now - Amaral's takes the crown. read more

Found this amazing hole in the wall restaurant here on Yelp. Small menu but plentiful. We got fish and chips and clam cakes and chowdah. The fish was a nice white flaky fish with a light batter that was not greasy. The clam cakes and chowdah were to die for. A lot of clams in the red chowdah (though the also had white and clear). Found this place on the way to the beach during the winter months. Was looking for fish and chips near by, everything is was closed except this place. It is a family owned business which I love. Service is nice and friendly. Fish and chips were so good along with the clam chowder which was AMAZING! On 1/29/2023 Visiting from Ohio in Swansea for My 50th birthday with Family and friends . Seafood is on my to do list. A stuffy with hot sauce ,fish and chips for lunch satisfied my cravings mostly . Just mostly because I really needed a bottomless stomach so I could have fried clams, red chowder and clam cakes . I would have enjoyed my lunch more if the slaw had more flavor and had tabasco sauce for the stuffy but I still enjoyed my lunch and the local atmosphere. A hole in the wall, across from an auto body shop, down a side street. We love these hidden spots if the food is good, and... boy was it good! We sat down and a friendly woman told us to order from the wall. We ordered and sat back down to wait. It felt like 2 minutes went by when one of the owners hand delivered our piping hot meals. Let me explain that I am married to a Dub from Ireland where fish and chips reigns supreme. He gave his approval of his fish and chips and my fried clams were delicious! I like this little place. It's on a little side street In Warren. Its between child and market. Its a kinda hole in the wall but the service is friendly the food is really good and the choices are great! From the fish and chips , shrimp , scallops grinders. All types of chowder .
