Chicken AMARI with portabello mushrooms, roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts cooked in a rich brandy cream sauce.

Last week we went to Amaris for dinner and had a wonderful meal. I ordered Chicken AMARI which was fabulous! Fresh portabello mushrooms, roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts cooked in a rich brandy sauce. Our waitress was great-we were not rushed at all. Highly recommend. We also had the calamari appetizer and fried shrimp. Both very good. Creme Brûlée for dessert-it was creamy and just perfect!

This is a pizza review only as we haven't tried the food which I've heard is great. This is definitely one of the better pizzas we've had in the area although the large pies are 16" instead of the usual 18" which does make a difference as the slices are quite small. They do offer a nice deal...2 large plains for $21.99. Overall, it was a good sauce, lots of cheese and a nice crispy cornmeal crust even after transporting it home for a 10 minute ride. We will definitely return to try the food so stay tuned for that update.

TWO SLICE SPECIAL REVIEW Amari's Pizzeria & Restaurant is the replacement for Momma Flora's Restaurant on South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ. It looks the same, except for the new menu and metal name on the wall. And, luckily for these new folks, their pizza is just as good as the previous tenant. I sampled there $4.99 Special - two plain cheese slices and a cold drink - this afternoon. I asked for them to be "well done." That is exactly what I got. The crust undercarriage was firm on reheating and held their points. Each bite was met with a snappy report. The balance of sauce and cheese was very good. This was one pizza kitchen that knows not to put on too much mozzarella if it wants a good finished pie. The red gravy tasted of salt, pepper, garlic and basil. The dough also had a good flavor and excellent chewy texture. Service was friendly and prompt, and everyone I saw seemed happy to be working there. Good thing, because I was happy to be eating there.

A slice of oil please. Man! You'll need at least 6 bibs to eat one slice. It'll create a pool of oil on your plate.

Inside, the noon lull had settled in with only two other tables occupied and a gentle background hum from the kitchen. It felt calm and unhurried, the sort of place that knows what it is and does not make a fuss about it. The server was friendly in a simple and efficient way. He was not talkative, but he took my order quickly and brought everything out with speed and accuracy. I appreciated the straightforward approach. There is something refreshing about a place that does not try to charm you into staying longer than you intend. In an act that might be considered a small betrayal of the name on the sign, I ordered a cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and a side of fries. When it arrived, it was steaming hot. The first bite nearly burned the roof of my mouth, which was entirely my own fault for being too eager. The steak itself was very good. It was tender, well seasoned, and deeply satisfying in that familiar corner shop way. My single complaint concerns the vegetables. The mushrooms, onions, and peppers were present, but only barely. They felt like reluctant participants. I wanted more of their flavor and more of their texture to give the sandwich a fuller personality. As it was, they took a quiet supporting role when they could have done more. The fries were solid. They were crisp enough, salted enough, and they did their job without calling attention to themselves. Not remarkable, but certainly not disappointing. The total came to just under twenty dollars including a tip. The server seemed genuinely surprised that I left a little extra, which made me feel oddly cheerful. For a lunch that was honest, warm, and uncomplicated, it felt like money well spent. Joey's Pizza does not try to reinvent anything. It serves straightforward comfort food with sincerity. I left with a full stomach and a clear mind. That earns four stars from me.

The pizza - dirty calm pie was good. The Italian chicken dish was a miss for us... tough chicken pieces and lacking flavor even though it had nice chucks of cut up vegetables. The lentil soup was adequate, it met base line flavor and presentation. I guess what locks and information is I noticed the population that's coming in. It's a much older crowd. Certainly the menu items are on the lower price side so it makes it affordable to go out. It's hard when you cook at home and you want to go out a couple nights a week at the weekend and for what we've been paying with inflation and the impact of tariffs we would expect a higher level of them when I'm putting out of my own kitchen. Again, a safe place a consistent place a busy place and if this is acceptable for you, then this is your go to.

We ordered some water along with mussels in red sauce, medium pizza with half onions. The mussels were very meaty with a delicious chunky tomato sauce. The pizza had a thin crust with more sauce than cheese, more of a tomato pie taste. It was okay but not the best ratio of tomato sauce to cheese. This place probably has a great tomato pie. I would definitely return just for the mussels alone. But if I ordered a pizza, I'd be a little more specific about its preparation.

They were complemented with cocktail sauce, watermelon mignonette, and fresh grated horseradish. * Crab Salad Special: Served in a martini glass. It featured cold, chilled crab marinated with tequila, triple sec, and lime, carefully laid on a bed of avocado mousse with an Old Bay-lined rim. Delicious and refreshing during a hot summer evening. * Tri-Color Beet Salad: A roasted beet and citrus salad with whipped ricotta and a pistachio honey vinaigrette that provided rich bites. * New York Strip: Sourced from Allen Brothers in Chicago. A showstopper with excellent crust and beef flavor. We ordered the Au Poivre sauce, which was tasty, but the steak was so good on its own that I ended up using the sauce for my sides! * 14 oz Center Cut Filet: Also sourced from Allen Brothers. Both were tasty, medium-to-full-bodied, and served as excellent accompaniments to the steaks. * Tuna Special: Nicely seared tuna served over vegetables and udon noodles. * Limoncello Pistachio Tiramisu: Very light and a nice end to the meal. * Kentucky Butter Cake: Served in a cast-iron pot with vanilla ice cream. Yummy and rich.   THE SERVICE Our server, Gene, has been with the restaurant for 8 years and provided exceptional service.
