Online ordering was easy. Everything was as ordered with no mistakes. It is cool you can build your own. We ordered 2 stuffed pies (Chicago style deep dish) and they were both perfectly cooked - you could even specify doneness. The sauce is nice and garlicky. However, it is not the best Chicago deep dish we've ever had - it more comparable to Giordanos than to Malnatis or Genos. We tasted more dough and cheese than anything. It seemed a little. In the future, we might kick up the doneness level. We just tried regular doneness level. read more

I have been a customer for over 20 years. I usually order from them once a week. I ordered food on Friday May 1 and was given my total price. Waited for an hour and a half before I called as it was a Friday night and I know that restaurants are busy. The girl that answered the phone and took my order told me that there was no ordered placed and had the nerve to tell me that maybe I called another pizza place!? No accountability, no apology, nothing. I double checked the number that I called and it was them. I sent a message to them on their website and got no response. They apparently don't appreciate my business so I will no longer be a customer. And lately there has been no constancy in their food. And everything has been very salty. Their loss not mine. Just started ordering the pizza "well done", which comes nice and caramelized. Always order the really large pizza, just to have some cold pizza for breakfast the next day. Whatever female answered the phone and had comprehension problems completing my order, my asking for extra garlic in my fettucine alfredo, transferred me to the other manager/your bro, who had the same comprehension problems/attitude... stating that garlic doesn't come w/fettucine alfredo. So if I order a panzerotti w/extra garlic, which I was about to, I should be told that a panzerotti doesn't come w/extra garlic? Isn't that what "additional ingredients" means?!? Amato's was one of our go-to pizza places when I was a kid and it was on North Ave near Austin. I even delivered pizza flyers for the place when I was in 6th grade for $1 an hour plus pizza on payday. Lot's of great memories - the original owner, Dominic, was a pretty good guy. I haven't had a pizza from Amato's in at least 5 years, even though I live fairly close to the place. I decided to order one last Saturday - NY's Day. Here's my thoughts about their pizza along with a reason why it'll probably be another 5 years or so before I order again... I ordered my usual - cheese and sausage pizza. I typically get the largest available when I order pizza as it's usually the best value and will reheat easily for a few more meals. The pizza was pretty much just like it used to be - slightly sweet sauce, deliciously flavored sausage, lots of cheese lightly baked - which is just the way I like it. The crust was a little thicker than I like - that was about the only pizza specific issue I had, but it wasn't really all that big a deal. Prompt delivery within the time promised - around 45 minutes - which is pretty good for an 18" pizza. Delivery charge $3.75. I paid cash - would've been subject to a 3.9% additional charge if I used a card. The aforementioned charges kinda lead up to the one deal killer with Amato's pizza - and that's the price. This pizza is $28 plus tax - WAY more than most pizza places in the area. Less than a month ago, I bought three 18" pizzas from a competitor about a mile north of them and paid about $10 per pizza less for each of them - and even got a complimentary 1 Ltr pop included. One reason I chose to "splurge" on Saturday was because Amato's has a special on Saturdays, so I got $4 off. But even though their pizza is better than most I've had, in the big scheme of things, it's not worth the price when others cost so much less. So that's why the four stars instead of five. I don't usually take price into account much when doing my reviews, but the price on pizzas here is so far out of whack that I feel it's very necessary. read more

The food is good, there is not doubt about that. The problem is how they gouge customers for everything they can. Taxes and tip are absolutely normal. Delivery fees are normal, but they charge higher than anyone around. What I find hard to accept is their "convenience fee" of 3.9%. I have already paid for my food and about $12 extra but now I have to pay a "convenience fee"? The fee is what the credit card company charges them for a purchase. Instead of it being part of the cost of business, they pass it along to the customer. Like we aren't paying enough already. By us patronizing you restaurant., you make profits. Used to frequent this joint when they were open in Lincoln Park. I missed the tangy yet semi sweet sauce! Simply put, this pizza bangs harder than it looks. Crust isn't too thin, but still packs a nice crunch. Can't go wrong with any toppings and in case you were wondering the sausage is Chicago worthy. I haven't tried much else besides their pizza, but I heard the ribs are good and the tiramisu in front looks good. PS. They sell single slices for $4 and they're pretty big! I left a review eight months ago about their soda machine not having enough carbonation, have been here a few times since and they still don't have a working soda machine. And they still only offer 1 can of pop when dining in. Not right when you want fountain drinks so that you can get refills. I would think after 8 months you could get your fountain pop machine fixed. I am seriously in lust. I found a pizza place open until midnight in the burbs and I liked it! So here's how it happened. I was sitting on the sofa having an internal struggle. (I was trying to tell myself, there was no reason to leave home at midnight to eat anything, and in particular bread.) I tried to convince myself to have a bowl of cereal instead. So, my flesh gave in and it was totally worth it! Amato's dough is made fresh daily, all ingredients are fresh and the mozzarella is the best I have ever had. EVER! There's one catch. The price is in NO way for the penny pinchers of the world. A small thin crust pizza with three toppings is $17. I called 20 minutes before closing and was treated as if I was placing an order at 7:30pm. I was not rushed and the guy was actually very casual and told me I could order any menu item. I ordered a small pizza and (as she covers her face) buffalo wings. I ordered the wings because they were .65 cents each. Loved the pizza, but the wings .....not so much. Not even for .65 cents. Serves me right because I should have stopped at the pizza, and had I done so, I am certain I would have eaten the entire small thin crust without thinking twice about it. It was that good! Well, I wish I had waited until today to eat pizza, but it is what it is. When I go all in, it only makes sense to go hard with food that is worth the set back. That way, when I ponder why my rump shaker can no longer fit in my favorite pair of jeans, remembering the delicious thin crust pizza that made it all possible will help me to smile despite the crisis at hand. read more

7th new spot 2016!!!! I followed a fellow Yelper's review and book marked the place. For weeks I'd been anxiously been eyeing this place, unfortunately, I was not as enthused as other Yelpers. The staff are very welcoming upon entry. The menu is very diverse. It offers everything from the classic fare of pizza and pasta, to ribs and rib tips. The waitress was very kind and attentive to us (taking bringing us what we needed, taking away our plates when we were done eating, etc.). Longtime customer lost! 1st order wrong have to wait over hr for replacement, not so good!, cold dried out slab of ribs 1 one was to be w/o barbeque sauce , was with. Asked for replacement got attitude and hung up on 1st call took over hr to get new one and the driver had total attitude throwing receipt on the ground.
