Sales items such as $1 mangoes and $2.50 per pineapple for examples. Pricier items for included $3 per Artichoke or $1.99 for grapes. Grocery prices: comparable to stater bros or cheaper. Definitely not as pricey as whole foods. Food court: super fun! Already mentioned the pizza above. $4.97 for a whole rotisserie chicken. Looks fresh and delicious. Not as big/fat as the Costco rotisserie chicken but it still looks so good. Lots of ready prepared foods on the go for your convenience. Tried their orange chicken and it wasn't bad! Limited selection grocery store that offers a traditional experience or the Dash Cart experience. I came in on a Thursday at 5:30p to check it out. The Dash Cart experience was great and sped up the waiting and checkout process. The selection was a bit lacking. The biggest problem was they allowed A LOT of people in the store at once and NO ONE was following recommendations. They have some isles marked as one way as they are very narrow and you can't keep your distance and which were ignored by every shopper in the store. They have signed for social distancing which are also ignored by everyone. I had people reaching over and around me simultaneously even though it took me only 10 seconds to find what I was looking for on the shelf. The Amazon Fresh shoppers were just as bad if not worse than the regular shoppers. I understand they have metrics they need to hit to make any money doing this work for Amazon. I can conclude that the Amazon TV commercials trying to convince the public the warehouses are safe are untrue, if the Fresh shoppers who mix with the public and don't even follow the guidelines. It's clear it's about the money and not about safety for Amazon. It got so bad at one point with the crowding, that I would have walked out immediately if I wasn't using the Dash Cart. I have zero planto return until after things are safer. I'll stick to Trader Joe's which seams to have figured safety precautions out fairly quickly and doesn't have Amazon Fresh shoppers crowding the store. read more

I got a coupon at a playground for Amazon Fresh (yup, that's the mommy life), so decided to check it out since $10 off $35 isn't too bad. Figured I could go get some staples. We went on the Monday morning after they opened up (10/22/2020) around 10 am and there were more employees than customers. They are located at the end of the Tustin Marketplace where Baby's R Us used to be (right next to the 5 freeway). When i walked in, there are people there to greet you and this one woman grabbed a cart for me, undid the seat belt for my toddler and said all the carts were sanitized. I wasn't sure, because then I saw a sign later in the store that advised to wipe carts before use. The "traditional" carts, as they call them, are different from the Dash fancy techy carts. If you have a child and you want them to sit down, then you need a traditional cart. I told her that I also had some stuff to return to Amazon and she walked me to the back corner of the store (to the right), where they have a dedicated return section. This is great because now I can kill two birds with one stone. They also have a shelf of a few bestselling items there so you don't have to wait for something to ship and you can just grab it there. The return was so simple - saves me a trip to Kohl's or UPS. They also have Amazon lockers next to that Return section. I walked up and down each aisle and some sections of shelves were completely empty, probably due to the opening rush. It feels like a high-tech Whole Foods, with the look and feel of the shelves, especially the refrigerated beverage section. They carry take out sushi, prepared foods, deli items, bread, pretty much every thing you can think of. I bought a bunch of single item veggies and fruits and got a chuck roast that was a pretty good price. Everything else wasn't more or less expensive than say a Ralph's, but I feel Trader Joe's is better priced for the fruits and veggies. So I go to pay and the guy is obviously new (everyone pretty much is, you would think), So I question an item that I thought was overpriced ($2.79 for one zucchini), and the girl said that was right. I was going to say I wanted to return it, but I didn't want to give the cashier a heart attack because he had to look up like 10 fruits and veggie codes for me already. But then I got home and looked closely at my single veggies and they were all around $2-3 each. Uh, what? So I check online at the prices and realized that they charged me per unit instead of per pound. Ugh. So I literally paid $10 for like 6 pieces of veggies. Non-organic. And tiny. I called the store and a nice manager named Kenneth apologized and told me I just had to bring in my receipt and not produce, but still kind of a pain to go through that. Well, I haven't eaten anything yet, so can't attest to how fresh everything tastes, but they do have a good selection. They also have flowers at the front of the entrance, too. They are taking every precaution with Covid, so I felt safe and they provide hand sanitizers and wipes. I think this won't replace any place I regularly go shop at, but probably where I will head to shop when I need to return Amazon stuff. And one great thing is that the parking lot is huge, so plenty of elbow room. read more

Amazon Fresh is relatively new in town (less than 2 weeks since it opened), and it was interesting to see how the old BabiesRUs was transformed to Amazon's newest grocery store. We visited on a weekday afternoon, and there was still a line waiting to get in, mostly for the Dash Cart (smart shopping cart with light and cameras which can scan, weigh, and automatically checkout/charge your credit when you're done shopping and exit through dedicated dash cart exit lane). We opted NOT to use the Dash Cart to avoid the wait and simply browse around the store. There were more staff than actual customers shopping; many team members were busy fulfilling online orders. It's a big, lively, and busy grocery market. Currently when you make a purchase, you'll get a 10 off 35 coupon for next purchase (within the week). The prices at Amazon Fresh were comparable to other markets, and some items were slightly higher if not on sale. Although the Dash Cart is nifty, I'd stay within my neighborhood supermarkets that has better deals on groceries. Hmm... I don't know about this one. Don't get me wrong, I love Amazon and all the company has to offer, but this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Let's start with the good things: I love their selection, they have everything that a normal grocery store has. Don't need to travel farther for a Stater Bros or a Food4less. They have a lot of fruit and offerings around the bakery section. The Bad: Crowded. Despite being an automated high-tech grocery store where you can check out with the special carts, there are A LOT of employees and they're all in the way of you. The aisles are small and I know a good 2/3's of them are fulfilling online orders, but since I have a physically huge cart, one of us needs to get out of the way. The Gen Z in me felt bad having to move and scurry through the other customers and employees - it felt like the 60 freeway at 6PM. The Ugly: Their selection, despite being normal, is TOO normal for me. I expected special Amazon-only products like Whole Foods. Also, the carts aren't even 100% accurate. When my girlfriend tried to put a small pack of potatoes into the cart, the cart didn't recognize the item and we had called over an employee to help us out. The employee couldn't figure it out either, so we just ended up not even purchasing the potatoes. Nothing special about this grocery store, other than the automated carts with the Amazon card being charged without swiping or inserting the chip. I'm not from the area, so being able to try this once in my life was nice. Visited the second weekend they are open and our experience was great until we decided to order a pizza from their fresh kitchen. First off, there were two lines to enter - one for dash carts and one for regular shopping carts. We went for the dash cart and got a tutorial on how to use it as we entered. The dash cart is neat because it has cameras all around and can scan and even weight your items/grocery once you put it in the cart. And when checking out, you get to skip the cashier. We actually weren't able to experience that since our cart died during our long wait for the pizza.. The pizza was a great deal at $8.99 for an 18inch. We ordered through the app with an approximate wait time of 10-15 minutes. The app and the store did not seem to be synced with the orders. At one point, it alerted us the order was ready but it was not. For a tech company, it's surprising that the order number wasn't on display at the counter anywhere. Not sure what happened to our order, but Jessica behind the counter took care of it after our long wait and hand delivered the pizza to us. The pizza station definitely needs to step up their game. There seems to be a bottleneck with pizza being made and getting them in the oven. Many other customers were also frustrated with the long wait. I saw the sign a few weeks ago and online saw they just opened on 10/22. I did want the dash cart so waited in line for about 25 minutes (no wait for regular cart). Staff is very friendly and helpful. Just make sure you have an Amazon account and the cart will connect and charge the card on your account (or choose from the cards on your account). The tech is neat, it's kinda of like self checkout which I do all the time elsewhere but the cart is reading as you go. You need to put the PLU for produce and it'll weigh or you confirm the quantity. When you are done, you go in this area with an employee, confirm and pay. If you need a cart to your car, you get a regular one to wheel out. Prices I thought were great: ground beef for under $4 a lb, 15 cent bananas, $5 rotisserie chickens (2-3 lbs vs Costco gigantic ones), green onions at 50 cents/bunch, 8 oz crimini mushrooms for under $2, De Cecco boxed pasta at $2. Also nice selection of seafood, cheese, and grab and go foods. It's a little farther out for me, but I'd come back. Today I picked up an on line order and instead of waiting in line I was directed to go ahead and walk into the store and head to the far right corner to pick up my order. It was very simple and fast which I loved. If you do not want to enter the store especially during the pandemic you can go to the right side of the store outside and they can place your items in the car for you making it a touchless transaction. Being that this is a new store there was a long line to get in and I believe especially for the cart that helps to calculate your items as you shop. The size of the store to me personally it's not that big as maybe a Ralph's or Albertson's grocery store. I picked up a few items I forgot to add to my online order. Which was really nice I was able to get a good look at what they provide. I was happy to have picked up Clorox wipes (especially during COVID) and picking up a bottle of Duke's mayonnaise which is very popular on the East Coast. At this moment they do not accept Apple Pay you could pay through their Amazon app which I was going to install at the register but I didn't want to take up too much time so I will take care of it another day. Giving this an A-OK; there is nothing wrong with this place at all, and it was cool to try out the fancy carts that scan your items for you. The items inside the store are a fairly standard affair; this makes it kind of tough when you have a Sprouts and Costco nearby. Why I knocked off the stars is because they offer free delivery for Prime members (I am), and the large majority of their items are packaged goods, so, I'm not actually incentivized to go to the store; I can stay at home, order it and it'll show up in a bit. I would be more likely to how up at the store if they had more unique items (not sold at nearby stores), and their prepared foods were more interesting (It feels like a WholeFoods lite, which is also just down Jamboree). I'd imagine its a more interesting place post-COVID, so will definitely give it a shot later. read more

I went to the brand spanking new Amazon Fresh Store today and I am very impressed! The Smart Cart is so cool and there are an abundance of Amazon employees to help you. There were no lines on this Tuesday morning and I had the choice of regular or a Smart Cart. I like that my Alexa grocery list shows on the screen! The store is nicely laid out and I thought the prices were good. They only seem to carry brand name products, with a few exceptions. There's a large selection of organic and regular produce and the prices were better than most grocery stores. The deli and To Go food selection was exceptional, as well as the prices. A large slice of pizza for $1.79 and large freshly made sandwiches were $5.99. There is an area with tables that will probably be open for dining at a later date. What a trainwreck. It boggles my mind that this is the same company that undercuts all gthers on prices online, because they sure don't do it here. First -- Romaine lettuce. They have these scrawny heads of curly-edged lettuce they call romaine for $1.99, but their organic lettuce is huge and $2.79. Sorry, but the big stuff is always the non-organic, and the smaller produce is organic. Anyone who's been shopping or knows farming knows produce grows larger with the help of chemicals. Like it or not, that's a fact, Jack. Next -- cereal. A mid-sized box of Chex cereal is $6.59? Are they kidding me? This isn't any kind of family size box -- it's smaller than that. Now onto how the organize the store. The very short aisle closest to the meat department is tagged as "Pasta, Rice, Beans." What's on the shelf -- Kraft Macaroni and Cheese boxed dinners. WTH? Fresh salsa? In the meat department, of course. I got three aisles into this store (produce "pasta, rice, beans," and cereal) before realizing this place was a joke. I took my few purchases to the registers and saw three and four people in each of the two lines that were open, then I got in the 15 items or less line. The cashier was checking out a man with his premade food, and when he walked away, the cashier said, "Hello, ma'am! This register is closed!" and walked away to work the auto checkout line six feet away that already had one person working it. I, too, walked away. I left my cart right where it stood and walked out. This was my second attempt at shopping here. Most of the shopping is done by their own employees, not actual customers, and it's clear they cater to people who don't cook. The selection is pathetic -- it's mid-July and they didn't carry fresh corn?? -- and the prices are for the folks who just click on the picture on an app and don't care how much it costs. Basically, it's contrary to everything a grocery store should be. I can't imagine they get enough business to stay afloat for long, but if they do in this neighborhood, this model definitely won't fly in most other ones. I guess placing this store at a freeway off-ramp makes sense to some -- you get off the freeway, pick up your prepackaged, premade groceries on your way home from your tech job, go home, and feed the kids you're letting someone else raise all day. Our family went to this location for the first time to try it out. The quality of what you are getting is definitely miss. We bought these tortillas to make birria tacos and while my husband was dipping the tortillas he noticed the next few had this nasty mold on it, ruined the whole soup. The expiration for them wasn't until July 23. Speaking with the Amazon representative they can only refund the $2 for the tortillas but not the rest of the soup which included $30 meat. I would have to drive back to the store to see if it's a possibility. I don't have time to drive back. Thank god my son didn't eat any of these tortillas. Don't waste your time for poor quality food. Heading from Laguna Beach from to Carlsbad we got a little turned around and right off the freeway we ran into Amazon Fresh. We had to stop in to see what it was. We were all hungry so it was perfect timing. It is like a huge spacious grocery store. I thought it was going to be a warehouse like Sam's or Costco at first. Hey now there's a thought! The produce was beautiful and plentiful. They had a Fresh Market with food ready to go. My husband picked up a couple slices of pizza and the girls and I chose some warm mixed veggies. Checked this place out for the first time yesterday - and I have to admit... I'm not sure what the hype is all about. It's overrated and in some cases, some items were overpriced. Other than the Dash Cart (which I didn't use on my first trip last night) - this place and shopping experience reminds me of "Fresh 'n Easy" - which was a grocery store early last decade that was designed to be "grab and go" type, stocked with popular items in a grocery store format, but with a smaller footprint. Fresh n' Easy isn't around anymore, but it was among my favorite stores to shop at when it did exist - so naturally, I compared my experience yesterday to FnE. I checked out the Bakery, Deli and Meals "Ready-to-Eat" sections first. Bakery was mostly pre-packaged breads and sweets, very few "freshly-baked" items. Deli had a lot of pre-packaged treats such as macaroons and cheesecake slices. They had brisket, a hot foods bar, and by-the-pound salads. I picked up a pound of their chicken salad - which turned out well. Good meat ratio. The Meals Ready-to-eat section left a lot to be desired. I had read the reviews online first, and they roasted the serving size of entrees such as the Chicken Enchilada (has too much rice), and the Spaghetti and Meatballs (how can you mess this dish up?). First, at $8 a plate, the portion size of each entree was pathetically small. It looked as big as one of those Lean Cuisine frozen dinners - at nearly 2.5 times to 3 times the cost. A lot of the aisles seemed bare, I felt almost like I was shopping right after the time that the pandemic caused a food buying scare back in early 2020. A plus is that you can get Amazon items sent to this store as a "pick-up" location, which was partly why I was here - I had sent a purchase here as an excuse to check the store out. Parking is easy - it's on a more "quieter"/lower foot traffic side of the Marketplace. Almost all of the clerks I interacted was were friendly and helpful. Overall, not anything to write home about (despite me writing this review) - not a store that I'd go out of my way to shop at. Store was very clean and well organized. Employees were very friendly. I only marked down one star as their entire frigeration system in the store was closed. I saw them removing product from the refrigerators, so they must have lost power or something earlier and have to get rid of all that food. I will definitely be back to try this place again. I did have to wait 6 minutes for it as they had none pre-made, but for $5.49, it was worth the wait. The California roll was made fresh as I ordered it, and was super tasty and I love the fact that you could choose which sauce to put on top of it. The California roll was decently priced at $6.49 for one. My husband ordered the brisket dinner for $10, and he had brisket, potatoes, vegetables, and gravy. It was a great deal and he was full. I did use the baskets with the Amazon app, so it was nice just putting your items into the cart, and it's scanning as it goes in. Although it was a little tricky, as one of my items the barcode was sideways and we had to turn it sideways. Also the carts for the app shopping, are a little smaller than the normal shopping cart. But it was kind of cool to be able to just see your total as you go through the store, and be able to just walk out and it automatically pay. Great technology and great people, and the place is super clean and they have a nice little dining area. Although I feel bad as it seems the employees also use the dining area as their break area. I'm writing this review as I work in the local office buildings and come in often. The workers here get lazier and slower in the last year. I was trying to get hot food and instead of checking and replenishing food items or handing out samples there was more than one person on their phone. At the checkout there was a small line, and when it came to my turn the worker dropped my food in the bag and it spilled out. Service is bad. The cashier forgot to ask me if I needed a bag, so after the transaction is complete, she demands the 20 cents stating they are required to collect for each bag on the state's behalf. It was an embarrassing encounter, especially since the store was closing in 10 minutes, and the long line behind me. I didn't have the 20 cents cash. I don't know if I checked the prices of the items, but it seems reasonable. The hot bar looked very clean and saw some donuts too. I like the friendly workers and how clean this place is. Maybe only complaint is to show new customers how to use the cart? I'm pretty sure most ppl can figure it out after a couple minutes of messing around with it. This place is located in the same area as the Cost Plus World Market in the Marketplace. When wandering around the place we noticed the list prices for most items were higher than those of Ralph's, and one will need to use coupons from the newspaper or on their Amazon account to decrease the prices to something more market rate. Fortunately we had a coupon. Items available included both generic items and some items from Whole Foods. We tried to focus on buying things that were unique and lower priced for fun. At the exit there was a sign that said they would give out paper bags, but we didn't notice the sign (since it wasn't at the cash register) so my local friend took out some of her own bags. If they were at the front of the checkout counter we would have noticed it and been able to get some more free bags. They were paper bags, so I probably would have only used them to recycle cans. The transaction went fine as far as I could tell. If one drives around the corner to the curbside pickup there is a Pokémon GO gym there. I think not a lot of people use it and there are some normal parking spaces available so one will not have to buy curbside pickup to use them. read more
