Horrible customer services is the main reason driving people away. The cashier and the manager are both with attitude, unhelpful during checkout. It is funny that a so-called high technology store with staff that didn't know how to handle tech problem, it is definitely a shame. By the way, I just wanna use my gift card balance to check out and they were like NO, they can't do it. There is no such option and asked me to keep trying to scan my code if I like, what? I went on Friday with my sister as we were excited to check out this contactless shopping theory . Ok great we were greeted by excited fun employees- a nice woman gave us each our own cart as we were each paying for our own items . We were not told any rules - what not to or not to do. So first thing I do is hand my sister a Amazon fresh bag sign. .78 - CHING CHING - yep - and I hand her Organic Croutons and one for myself - CHING CHING -CHING CHING AGAIN - I didn't know I was being charged for her items I placed in her cart ? Uh no . Ok, not a big deal small ticket items right UNTIL - I look at the Organic farm fed beef - -I picked up the beef - there I saw a price tag of $15.99 lb but Is this per package price or per Lb ? I asked my sister ? Didn't see any weight or price so I put it right back . Then I picked up a more expensive meat cut $25.99 sticker on the shelf - same thing - nothing under the meat - I said well other meat packages must weigh different I am not sure but I won't take that chance unless I can ask some before buying . I put it right back - same spot as I am picky like that and we walked away . I never thought much about the vegs or Fruit weights not as important to me . The rest of the store is well displayed and they offer many varieties of foods - pre-made and ready to eat . Prices are ok some little higher but it's convenient and for a quick stop it's great . Again Sushi - sandwiches - fresh hot food served daily - it's yummy for a quick lunch - or dinner . I bet it will get really busy by medical and college people as it's pretty healthy foods and is nearby for them in a hurry . Now -Cons - Not so good was checking out - we didn't know we didn't get a receipt for hours later and when I did - WOW- I was a bit upset - I was expecting like $23.00 with my $10.00 coupon that was applied, however when I saw $80.00 my stomach just sank - ? The receipt showed more items then what I left with - I was charged for the two expensive steaks , $15.99 plus $25.99 so guess that answers that question . I was charged for 2- croutons- 2-Amazon Fresh Bags at $1.35 each -wrong price as well . So too much $- too many items - items I never bought and two items my sister had I didn't have. Was a bit of a stressful first experience once home . I called immediately and all was worked out as they have cameras - but wish the nice lady would have explained the DETAILS to us as she asked is it your first time ? Yes - well when it is - PLEASE EXPLAIN QUICKLY TO YOUR CUSTOMERS the DONT HAND YOUR FRIEND ANYTHING- you will be charged and if YOU PICK SOMETHING UP -ITS YOURS - they said UNLESS YOU RETURN IT TO ITS SAME SPOT - which was true for few items we looked at - didn't work for the expensive meat that day . Be careful when you go there. If you pick up an item and look at it and put it back, you will be charged for buying it! If you go through the automated system, you can't control what you get charged for. I picked up a plastic soup cup at the soup bar but put it back without filling it. Later, when I checked out, I was charged with buying soup. Same thing for a bag of tortillas I looked at but didn't buy. I paid $10.00 for stuff I didn't buy or have. If I go there again, I will go through the regular checkout stand, and that way, I can see what I'm paying for. read more

I really love my pickles fresh. And when I found Amazon fresh, the pickles were perfect. The pickles were nice and juicy. When you bit into the pickle, nice pickle juice would run down your mouth. It was also nice and crunchy. You should get the pickles they are so juicy. read more

One thing I never understand that when ever I go to deli/ food area after 3pm almost all the time most of the food items are empty. Specially baked chicken and sandwiches. When asked if they can make another one as it says on the menu board, Always there is only one person handling everything and you have to wait long time to get the item. I love coming here for their salad bar and hot bar. I usually get the small size container and fill it up with the chickpea kale salad, mozzarella & tomatoes, a few pieces of chicken and a boiled egg. I went to this location because this was the location to return an online purchase. A trick to get people to try Amazon Fresh? yes and it worked. I might as well grab dinner when I was there. There is deli food and freshly made sushi. The staff there were friendly and very helpful to show me how to use the high tech support market step by step: scan in,scan out and pay using your phone. I love this place. I like that it has no human interaction if you don't feel like talking or smiling and yet quality products. But if you do need help the staff will bend over backwards to help you.Customer service is great. I also appreciate the fact you can purchase Whole Foods products that are less expensive there. The entire check-in and check out procedure has changed since the last time I was there . They now have a smart cart and you have to use your Amazon app to sign in and then you have to scan each item you buy at a particular location on the cart . When you check out you cannot simply walk out like you used to and have your entire card scanned automatically . The alternative is self checkout where you take your card up to the checkout and scan each item and put it in a grocery bag . I loved the old system where you used your fingerprint or your card to enter through the gate and then did your shopping and then walked out . It's a pricier store and since I will be doing all of the work of checking out I will not be shopping there regularly anymore read more

After almost an hour outside following a line Finally I walked in. Yes the place is well organized, which is expected from a place that just opened. However, this place is NOT what I expected and it's about 30% more expensive than any other supermarket in the area (Ralphs, Target, Albertson, etc etc) even Trader J. Is cheaper. I'm giving two stars because many people discard the one star reviews, which is what I actually intend. Amazon is trying to compete in the grocery space by providing "efficiencies," but is actually doing a miserable job at the most fundamental grocery business -- Having somebody one can reach at the store level! Amazon decided customers calling the local store isn't important. They do not provide a local phone number and when calling the main 888 number their response is that I would have to physically go to the store itself if I have an issue with a local store. What kind of "efficiency" is that?! Well, Amazon figure this one out: We lost a pair of 1992 classic Ray Ban aviator sunglasses at your Mission Viejo store and are on our way to the airport. We can't go back to your store! Perhaps you'd like to replace it for us for the inconvenience you have caused! Because when we ever get a chance to get back to your Mission Viejo store it may be months or never! What if a customer lost their cell phone, wallet or credit cards at their store or a host of other reasons needing to call their store?! Maybe Amazon should get back to what it knows -- digital tech and leave the grocery business to companies like Trader Joe's that actually knows the grocery business! First I would like to say that I am litterally shocked at all of the negativity about Amazon Fresh. It must be that people do not understand recent lifestyle changes that we were hit hard by the events from the past 2 or so years? Prior to this opening, my go to's were Whole Foods and Sprouts and if desperate Stater Brothers. Now that AF has opened, it is now at top of my list. I cannot find anything negative to say about the store and yes I do find that prices are a bit higher on some items but not all. The quality is absolutely the best and you will find that the food inventory at AF has very good or excellent quality. I am a big deli lover and they carry Deitz & Watson which top on my list next to Boars Head. One example difference is the California Roll at the Sushi counter. Stater brothers has imitation crab and is full of food additives that are not necessary. AF is $2 less and has pure items with no additives. Ingredients are around 5. Stater Brothers is ridiculously full of additives and more expensive! AF has rotissiere chickens for the same price as Costco. According to local news, Costco uses factory raised chickens! How is that healthy? And I have noticed the quality difference between the AF farmed outdoor chickens vs. the factory raised ones. With the Amazon lockers at the entry and the drop off counter for returns, much can be taken care of without running around all over the area. If you do not like the prices you see on some items, then go hit your other go to. Simple. When AF first opened they did not have D'Affinois or Sperlonga type bread for my happyhour I was having with friends so I hit Whole Foods on my way home. Last week AF now has D'Affinois and at the same price as Whole Foods. Must be change is difficult for some? The negativity I am seeing in some of the reviews reminds me of the tip jar I see weekly at my local cbtl drive thru that says, "Afraid of Change?" LOL One last thing to say is, give change a chance and do not give up. AF has a lot to offer and I am first in line to see and watch them grow and get competive in our area which is so desperately needed. read more

I spent the time to order groceries set a delivery time between 5 and 7 PM. I get a text message at 5 o'clock canceling my order then stating that I will get my money returned in 3 to 5 business days so now I have no groceries they kept my money and I have to go spend another $150 on groceries at another store, what if I don't have an extra $150 to be tied up for 3 to 5 days. They take your phone number in case they need to call you but don't call you in a situation like this. I was told they had no delivery people. It would've been great to get a phone call that says can you come pick up your order that would've worked just fine, it's now the third day and I still don't have my money back for groceries. I did not receive and I spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to find out what happened to my order! Do not order from them. They are not equipped and are inconsiderate to their customers. read more

Maurice is the rockstar of this store! On my first trip he identified that I was new and he happily showed me how to access the store with my Amazon app and how to checkout. On my way out he came over to make sure everything went well. On my next trip he remembered me and was again incredibly friendly and helpful. Tonight, my third trip to this store, Maurice went above and beyond by making sure I got what I was shopping for even though that section on the store was closed for the evening. The concept of the store is great, The product selection is sufficient, pricing is decent, but the thing that makes me want to shop here even more is the incredible customer service and genuine friendliness that Maurice has consistently offered. Entry: I only went to Amazon fresh as I had a 20$ off 50$ coupon and wanted to check it out. If I didn't have that coupon and know I needed a full grocery run, I wouldn't have gone. I couldn't figure out how to enter with a coupon, and there were 4 other people all struggling with the same thing. We gave up and just went through the entrance where you don't scan the app, figuring we would pay at the end. Shopping experience: Meh, prices are more expensive than Albertsons for most comparable things. Also prices end in odd numbers: 2.61$, 3.72$. I usually add things up in my head as I go to budget, and this just isn't convenient. Meat prices say per lb, but don't say the lbs of the actual product. Unclear Organization of organic vs non organic. It kept hearing clicking noises and realized it was the cameras. Food bar/hot food: very lackluster. Food looked unappealing. Customer service: No one helped in the beginning. When I checked out the person was so rude that I didn't know how to use a coupon with the app. I told her there were 4 other people and maybe they need a sign explaining that part. Also, she didn't know what any of the produce was and had to ask if something was garlic, what type of onion (there was a sticker on it), so forth, so extra training is needed for those who don't do the scan option for those at the checkout. I'm giving an extra star for the fact they had employed someone who is deaf and I really liked that they were giving people fair opportunities. However I did say excuse me 3 times and had to wave at her (I thought she might have EarPods in) but she was able to use her phone to communicate with me through typing. I was excited for the new Amazon Fresh. However, my experience was far below my expectations and it turned out to be a very inconvenient way of shopping. The night before I watched several YouTube videos on the Amazon fresh opening in Tustin. I was excited with the future check out cart and how when you put anything it it told you how much it was. For fruits and vegetables you enter the PLU number and the cart would calculate the cost according to weight or quantity. I thought to myself, Wow this is the future of shopping! You know exactly as you shop how much you are paying for and stay on budget. It's contactless fast and easy. I had my Amazon app ready with the QR code for in store shopping ready and excited to step into the future! However, the reality was far from this. No special shopping cart which tells you how much you are paying as you shop just cameras which Watch your every move and are supposed to accurately take down what you put in the cart. While shopping their alcohol section I did not like the way the associate took my drivers license and held it in their hands to scan it. It's just a simple scan which can be done contactless, like at every other grocery store. Also they had tons of "sale" signs but no indicator on how much the sale was. From looking at the price they appeared to be normal prices. e.g. Jim Bean 1.5 liter for $26.99. Smart and final has it on sale for $19.99. When I asked an associate where do I put the stuff that I did not want to buy? After consulting with their supervisor they said I had to put it back exactly where I found it. I said that was bummer and double checked that they did not have a place for go backs like any normal retail store, the associate said no. And affirmed that the camera will see me take the product out of my cart and place it back on the self and deduct it from my purchases. So I had to trek all the way back to the other side of the store to put back a $0.99 ketchup bottle back. Finally at check out I asked if I would get an instant email of what I purchased. Another associate said that would be nice but that they are not there yet, and it would come in a few hours after I purchased. Therefore you have to check your receipt after at home, then dispute thru the app if there are overcharges. Although it's simple, who wants to do that? It's supposed to be easy not more difficult. Although our purchases were correct, the convenience of knowing how much your paying while shopping is not there. Plus the added inconvenience of having to check your purchases afterwards. Also a thought on the cameras. I would like them to make it clear in the terms in conditions for shopping contactless what they are doing with the camera footage? Are they using it for market research? Will they sell the footage to 3rd party marketers. Or is it just to track purchases accurately and nothing more, keeping your shopping private abs anonymous? They should clearly state what they do with the footage. Great concept but needs a lot of work. Till then my usual Smart and Final and Costco runs have my business. They have better prices and are more convenient. read more

Who is tired of the quality of produce and the selection at the local grocery store here in ladera...There's a new grocery store alternative!! And it's fun for the whole family to experience!! Amazon Fresh down the street has amazing produce and selection. A Sparkling Clean store....and "JUST WALK OUT" Technology....meaning that you use your palm of your hand to walk in the store, it's tied to your credit card, and you literally just walk out of the store without even checking out. Cameras in the ceiling watch what you pick up and put in your cart, and they send you a receipt after you leave the store....straight to your e-mail address. So convenient. The thing that took longest was waiting for the fish at the deli counter. And my fiancé couldn't sign up bc the reader wouldn't read his palm. He Is upset about that. However. I don't get why people are saying the cost is high. We left with fresh fish (tilapia and halibut), many regular groceries, lots of fruits and veggies and more, and our total was $100 only! We were flabbergasted! Also. There were over 30 spots in the parking lot to Park when we arrived. Parking and in/out access was a breeze. We live 1.5 miles down the street. Albertsons is horrendous (selection/freshness) compared to Amazon Fresh. I'd shop here any day in a heartbeat!!!! There's not even a stater bros or Trader Joe's in close proximity. So I'll take this store over Albertsons any old day. And it's very clean and IMO blows the Albertsons selection away!!! read more

The actual shopping experience wasn't bad. The store seemed clean although a lot of things were out of stock. However when I received the receipt by email later in the day, I was unable to view the itemized receipt "uh-oh something went wrong". So I have no idea if I was charged correctly. Also the email gave the option to rate your experience but again, when you click on the link "uh-oh something went wrong". Seems like another Amazon opportunity to rip off customers if you ask me. Have shopped here several times now. If you know what you're doing, walking in and out is pretty seamless and effortless. There's plenty of staff to help out though if you're new and they're always very friendly. The store is an alternative to the same items I would get delivered. Selection isn't huge but all the basics are there and it's extremely convenient. The staff at the meats department was extremely friendly every time I was there. Overall a very reliable and easy experience. It really beats the lines and conventional store experience. If you want the traditional feel, maybe this isn't for you but if you want a simple and fast shopping experience they have definitely perfected that. read more

Also over priced green bell peppers (small and old mind you) $1.09 but at Albertsons up the street where $0.99 I know $0.10 doesn't seem like much but that amount of over price adds up if your regularly buying your groceries or have a large family. I was very tight on time after work so for the first time I ordered online from Amazon Fresh. I selected a delivery time of 5-7pm. They charged my debit card only to have the order cancelled at 5:00. I spent awhile trying to get to anyone that could shed light on what happened to my order. Finally I was told they had no delivery person available. Don't offer a service if you cannot fulfill it! You had my phone number, why not call and say we're having difficulties would you like to pick it up or reschedule? You charged my card and 3 days later I am still waiting for my credit for an order I never received... What if I was someone who doesn't have another $100 to go get what I need somewhere else while you're holding my money! This is a horrible company policy and no customer service at all.
