We traveled from Atlanta and went to yelp to find a great restaurant that specialized in seafood. We chose wisely! The patio was so relaxing. We ate mostly off the starter menu. We started with the spinach, artichoke with lump crabmeat. I loved the dip but op for the bread or chips over the flat bread that it comes with. Our next choices were fried oyster platter and ahi tuna carpaccio. The fried oyster platter was my absolute favorite. Extremely fresh, great aioli and the pickles add a unique flavor profile. The tuna was fresh and simply prepared. If you're a tuna lover, this dish is for you! Overall, a great experience and moderately priced menu from an Atlanta, GA resident. read more

We started with the jumbo Seared Scallops which were out of this world amazing! We then enjoyed the scrumptious crab dip. My main course was the lobster tortellini. It was okay, not the best. Mediocre. First, the tea tasted a little "off" which was a warning sign that I chose to ignore. Ordered the NY Strip because they were out of the filet. Specified MEDIUM WELL...steak arrived medium RAW. The mashed potatoes were excellent as was the bread. The vegetables were good. After I cut into the steak and sent it back to be ....well....cooked, I got the same plate back minus the portion I had cut off to see how well it was cooked. I mentioned to the waitress that I felt like I was getting shorted the two ounces that I had cut off that was now missing and she said not to worry about it because it was on the house. My husband and I went for a quick date night here. We really loved sitting out on the patio. Really gorgeous. Not a 'perfect' waterfront view, there are some industrial elements around and we went early evening, and there were still boaters and such down below being loud. But the service was wonderful and the wine list was great, and decently priced. The food was good. We loved the scallop appetizer. Found the crab cake a little too greasy with too much aoili. The calamari was a little tough, and we only prefer rings, vs. full bodied calamari. But the portions were great. We only grabbed apps and wine. We would like to come back for full dinner. We Had a reservation for 20 people for a birthday dinner for 7:30pm we got there about 7:20 and the section that they were going to have us at already had a party that was running behind thank goodness the birthday girl dident show up till around 8:15pm being that this was a surprise it would have been ruined, we litteraly sat down 5 min before she showed up!- not blaming the restaurant for this cause stuff happens... other then that the food was amazing as well as the service! All our food was brought out at the same time... that never happens at restaurant, most times someone is always waiting on their meal, but not here the service was on point! The only reason why I did not give a 5 star was because the restaurant has a rule... NO GIFTS, NO CAKE, NO BALLOONS? So we litteraly had to stand in the cold in the parking lot after dinner to give the birthday girl her gifts and it was freezing lol... First time eating at this restaurant and I loved it. I was with a small group and the service was top notch. Our server memorized all 7 names at the table and had a smile the entire time. I started with the Atlantis salad and it delicious. Fresh greens and salty feta cheese were perfect. My entree was the house favorite, lobster tortellini. The tortellini was topped with lots of chunks of lobster meat. I ate so much of the fresh bread before my entree arrived, I wasn't able to finish the tortellini. My husband was so grateful. He finished my leftovers and we are planning a visit soon. read more

This review is based on the poor management and misleading costumer service communications. I called the restaurant to make a reservation for 8 guests making them aware that the numbers may change....I called back to update the number of guests to 16 and she mentioned that I have to make a deposit of $6 per person to secure the reservation and that $$ was going to be applied towards the meal or whatever it will be consumed on that day.....In a good faith, I gave my credit card information. However, when I was notified that I will received one bill for the whole party.....I asked why they can't bill each couple individually? She said to "resolve" that issue with the guests or tell them to bring cash!!!....I was astonished at her careless attire and response....."that's our protocol"....Later on, I share this information with a friend. She didn't like to hear that we can't bring the cake and that balloons and decorations are not allowed....!!! "We are celebrating a master grad.....why so many restrictions" we decided to cancel the reservation. And here it is the part I feel it is a "deceived" behavior from them.....I called to cancel three days pryor the event. The reply was that there is not reimburse.....!!! And this information WASN'T released when I made the reservation. It is ashamed and very disappointed. The manager sounded careless. She didn't show any concerns. I had never heard of this place before! My boyfriend brought me here for an anniversary dinner. It was fantastic. Our waitress Sky was delightful. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, the cheese plate, tuna dish, & NY strip & Filet. 10 out of 10 would totally recommend. You won't be disappointed! read more

Bottom line up front: Food was EXCELLENT. Service was decent. Not recommended to celebrate a special occasion. Details: The Food: I had the crab cake as an appetizer. It was probably the best crab cake I have eaten...ever! Very delicious. Moved on to the Lobster Bisque and it tasted quite nice. Although, I must say, it was more of a cream based soup rather than a bisque. I get the feeling that the Lobster bisque is the same soup base as their she crab and they just add either crab or lobster to it based on what you order. As a soup, it was great. As a bisque, it missed the mark. For dinner, I had the crab stuffed shrimp and I must say, I would eat this every day if I could! The shrimp were most definitely Jumbo and the crab stuffing had the most beautiful jumbo lump crab as the primary ingredient. Quite often when you get crab stuffing, it's mostly stuffing. Not the case here. Very generous portion and very decadent! Absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this dish without reservation. My wife had the Teriyaki beef tips (Special) with mashed potatoes and she thought it was excellent and would order it again for sure. She said it was extremely tender and a perfect med-rare. Very nice. For desert we had the creme brule` and it was very nice as well. All in all, an excellent meal. The Service: The server was very friendly and attentive. The only problem we had with the service was that the level of service does not match the price point for this restaurant. The pricing here is on par with a Ruths Chris steak house (and worth it) but the experience level and polish on the service was more in line with Outback. This is NOT a mark against the server, as she was wonderful. This is directed at training and management's standard of service for the price point. They would be well served to kick it up a notch in this area. Special occasion: Typically, when you choose to celebrate a special night out at a restaurant of this caliber, there is an expectation that an effort be made on the part of the restaurant to make the evening special in some way. This did NOT happen. When I made the reservation, I clearly stated that we were coming to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. At no point during our visit was there an acknowledgement at all. For this reason alone, I won't come back here for a special occasion. For a nice dinner out, yes. But not for a celebration. read more

Dinner last night was excellent! We were a large party of 13, seated next to an even larger party. As we all enjoyed a variety of tasty appetizers (you can't go wrong with any of them), we watched as the larger party was served their entrees, all at once (a line of employees brought them out). Same thing happened with our entrees. Quite impressive and the way you always hope things will happen, especially with a large party--that you all get your hot food at once. Our server was prompt, attentive, never flustered, all orders correct. Our food was delicious (kudos to the chef and excellent kitchen staff), not a complaint in our party. My husband had the stuffed shrimp, I had the salmon, both were perfect portions with delicious sides of sautéed veggies and risotto. They are doing things right here, from service to food, I most definitely recommend the Amber Lantern. We will be back and we won't wait for a special occasion. read more

Service and food was mediocre at best! I ordered the Rack of Lamb rare $36... It came out grossly overlooked (MW) and room temperature. I could tell that the sides were pre-plated because there was an air crust on my mashed potatoes. They were warm in the center. My friend ordered the lobster ravioli that came out barely warm. We both sent back our food back for freshly, properly cooked entrees. We had to ask for bread halfway through our meal and was told that the kitchen had to "warm" some for us. WTH... No consolation was given for this poor experience..was still required to pay the high prices. This food is way too pricey for the quality and service we received! We came here Saturday for our anniversary and the food was exquisite. I ordered the teriyaki beef tips with seasoned veggies and mashed potatoes. My husband ordered swordfish, seasoned veggies, and mashed potatoes. I commend any entree where I don't need to add salt/pepper! Amazing food. Bad service. We had waitress envy, the waitress at the table behind us had a ton of personality and was very engaged. Ours, not so much. We didn't hear about the specials, we waited for 20 mins for drinks. Would've made different choices for our entrees but we didn't know any better. Salmon and mahi were both really good and the jumbo fried shrimp were great. Wine was excellent. Next time, we will make sure to get a different waitress. Camden is hurting their business. read more

Skinny Mojito. Not on the menu but asked for one anyway, the bartender made one correctly and it was fantastic. Again, GOOD JOB! Appetizer: Baked Brie. Very flavorful, the cheese center, fruit, sauce, and pastry was perfect and the rind was too thin to taste which I love because I've never liked the taste of cheese rind. Entree: Taste of the Sea. Good flavor, well cooked, very filling. A little pricey but overall good. I'll try a different dish next time we go. Seared Ahi Tuna. Excellent flavor, good portion size, very fresh, seared correctly without overcooking, proper amount of seasoning, very tasty garlic mashed potatoes. Dessert: Tiramisu. Good portion size, fresh tasting, house made fresh cream on the side. DELICIOUS! I have to say, that in the city of Chesapeake this is one of my favorite restaurants. Our group was 5 in number and each of us ordered a different menu item. All raved about the food they had but I'll talk about mine since I can only speak for my tastes. I had the Canadian Duck Breast done medium. Honestly I think each time I come here the duck keeps getting better. It was done to perfection and was very juicy. For dessert I had the . Chocolate lava cake; again no complaints here. I nearly gave this place a 5 star rating however; my party suggested not based on a few minor flaws. 1) usually there is a complaint about how slow the service is at a restaurant. Not the case here if anything it came out a little too quickly. We just barely finished our baked Brie when our entrees arrived. Sometimes it's just nice to let the appetizer digest a bit. 2) We were over charged by $2.00 on a drink item. This was quickly rectified when brought to our waittress' attention. Although some would expect some sort of compensation I thought the response was completely appropriate and fair. I highly recommend the Amber Lantern as a place for a fantastic dinner. read more

Steak was horrible service was terrible. I brought a party of 12 and they wouldn't even allow me to bring my wife's cake in for her birthday and this was all adults and we were dressed up.I almost got up and walked out with my party. They brought us the bills before we were even done and wasnt even offered dessert. Only reason I gave it 2 stars was 1 guest said oysters were awesome. I was turned off at first with the building outside (located in a commercial building, surrounded by an industrial area), but once you make it inside the restaurant you are transported to a very nice place. I went for my birthday and the good was spectacular. I had an opportunity to meet the head chef and the sous chef during my visit. It was a pleasure to find people with their culinary expertise in such an unexpected place. I ordered the calamari, the brie, lamb chops and the creme brulee cheesecake with the berries. Everything was delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the presentation was loverly (yes, loverly, which is above both a lover and something utterly lovely...lol). I was ridiculous because as birthday girl, I tried to taste everything on everyone's plate. I went to Amber Lantern with my husband and a friend on Friday evening. We had a reservation for 6PM, but there was no need! The restaurant was practically empty! Even when we left (around 8:30 PM), it was not crowded. Too bad, as this was an excellent restaurant. I had the filet, which was cooked to perfection, and my husband had the porterhouse special (which he said was delicious). The highlight of the meal was the coconut cake for dessert! YUM!
