Ambrose just finished a 21 panel, 8.7 kW system and I am very happy with the job that was done. First step was a breeze. Carlos gave me the rundown in an easy to understand and friendly manner. I was ready to go after that initial meeting. Once the initial survey was done it was found that my current panel was very outdated and overloaded which was expected. I had a city inspector present coincidentally at the same time for an EV Charger install who commented on this as well. Carlos went over the options and new estimates and again this was easy to understand and the process to change project requirements was simple. The next step took some time to get going because of the paperwork, processing and pge, but once everything was in order the pieces started moving with the first piece being a sub panel. Those guys were great and in a house built in the 1950s there was a lot of wiring going in different directions, but they did a great job getting everything into the new sub panel and their install was very clean. The next step was a Main panel replacement the next week. This step went smoothly as well. The main panel was changed out, stucco was replaced and color matched to the best of their ability, inspected and we moved onto the last step, solar panels & monitoring system. The solar panel install had some hiccups, but overall I am now satisfied with this last step as well. The panels were installed, monitoring system installed, everything was tested and works and then inspected and passed. We did have some issue with some of the finer details being completed to our liking such as drywall repair/paint, dirty solar panels, and worker cleanup. However, I want to note that once I made these concerns known Pamela apologized and sent another crew out to fix these issues. I am very impressed that they acted quickly and rectified these concerns without any complaint and I felt at all times my satisfaction was their number 1 concern. The last crew they sent made sure to go over everything with a fine tooth comb and I am happy with the results. The solar system passed the final inspection without issue and we are now waiting for PGE to give us the green light. Overall, I would recommend this company to anyone looking to add solar to their home because although we had some hiccups at the end, Ambrose made it right and made sure we as the customer were their priority at all times. If I had to pick just one thing to point out it would be the communication. Each crew introduced themselves well, walked us through what they were doing, and through what the next steps would be. Had I rated Ambrose Solar earlier, it would have been five-stars. But, we have had lots of hiccups and we never see the same people twice. Also, one thing gets fixed and two more things don't work. Here's the big picture:, approximately two years we had 18 solar panels and two Tesla back-up batteries installed. It went mostly as expected with some delays and some re-work required. The permits were pulled and inspections were signed off on. Everything worked with maybe 1-2 problems that Ambrose came back to resolve. We were happy. Fast forward to late last year--we wanted to add 10 additional panels and one more battery. The sales person continued to drop the ball and because of a PUC rate grandfathering, we had to get the contract signed. We finally elevated our concerns to Ambrose's President so as to make certain we would be okay. There were delays receiving the panels, parts for them, etc. That is understandable but workers would show up to install the additional panels with nothing on their truck. Things like this continued. Bottom line--everything is installed. Parts work. The fire inspection passed, but the inspector pointed out several things that were not to building code now even though they might have been a few months earlier. The software is messed up. The circuit breakers took three teams of people and three appointments to get to work. We still have three panels that don't work. Biggest issue besides the above is that we have never seen the same workers twice. Everyone is extremely nice and polite. But, they spend hours on the phone with supervisors trying what they meant to be doing. We'd likely stay with them, even given the problems. Eventually they come through. read more

Remarkable customer service. I received various proposals and estimates from 9-10 different solar companies, all of whom were all similar in pricing and value. What stood out with Ambrose Solar is that Kelsey Commerford (the sales rep from Ambrose Solar) was thorough, persistent with following up, and very flexible with building my solar system and making adjustments as I learned more about solar along the process. I decided to ultimately go with Ambrose Solar. The installation took place with planning involving many phases and stages. (inspection, permits etc..) often times various personnel from different departments would come and go but everything was coordinated and executed seamlessly. Vincent was the project coordinator and he did a fine job. Appointments were set up and honored on time. Jobs were completed ahead of schedule.. follow up phone calls were always answered promptly. During the installation one of the members fell through my attic ceiling causing drywall and insulation to scatter everywhere. He was very apologetic and the level of professionalism with this matter impressed me. They repaired the damage and cleaned up the mess as if nothing happened. It's been 4 months since the install was complete and we are happy with our solar panels and powerwall 3. No issues as of yet, but I have confidence I can reach out to Ambrose Solar anytime and get my issues addressed appropriately if something goes wrong. A few things that could've been done better (but not enough to drop a star) is the electrician who installed my powerwall 3 was not familiar with the Tesla App and so I had to research on my own time how to setup the different functions and familiarize myself with the powerwall 3 system Tesla App. I also had a closing appointment setup with Kelsey Commerford but I did not hear from him, which I found a bit out of the company's element considering all communication had not missed a beat. Once they installed pigeons took to the roof so they sold me an additional "bird guard" which was poorly installed and not cut to shape of the tile roof, therefore easily compromised. Shopping for a Solar Company has been pretty lengthy for my family and I. I've researched for about a year and talked with neighbors and coworkers on their Solar projects and experiences and decided to make the commitment with Ambrose Solar. I knew what I wanted - solar with a back up Tesla battery and I was able to get in touch with a sales representative within a few days (because of my work schedule and it was through Zoom meeting). The sales representative was never pushy, he was honest, and was very transparent on what the plans would be for my home. It took another week from my initial meeting to make my mind up and to sign the contract (I paid full in cash). There was never any hidden fees and making appointments with the contractors was perfect with my work schedule. The only thing that held up construction (by no fault of Ambrose) was the approval permit with the city of Fairfield. It took about a month to get the approval and start construction. My family and I were gone for one year and returned to Fairfield only to discover that our Sun Power PVS6 monitoring device (box) was not communicating for several months. Although the panels were producing power, the energy production data was not captured since February 2023. I called Ambrose Solar who installed my panels back in July 2020 and once again they went above and beyond! Chyenne (if I spelled her name correctly), answered all my calls and was always courteous and helpful. Audrey from the service department is a ROCK STAR - she did everything she could to see if she can fix my PVS6 problem remotely, more than I could ask for. Eventually she sent Joe, another rock star (quite literally since he was in a band) and was the coolest technician I've ever met. The issue was not fixed but at the end of the day, Joe told me the next plan of action. Audrey once again helped me with this process along with Andrew who kept me informed. Joe came back and not only installed my new PVS6, but guided with the new features on the mySunPower app. And if you are ever considering batteries for your solar panel, ask for Adam who will definitely answer all your questions (about batteries and plans) along with great recommendations.
