Bed bugs!!!! I've been going to the movies for over 30 years. It's one of my biggest hobbies and one of the few places in life where I can truly disconnect -- lights down, sound up, big screen glowing, popcorn drowning in butter, and a cold drink in the cup holder. This AMC has been my closest theater for decades. I've been here hundreds of times. Sometimes people talk. Sometimes kids kick seats. Whatever -- that's life. But what happened on my most recent visit? That was a nightmare. Shortly after I sat down, I felt this weird tingling on my left shoulder/back area. I was wearing a T-shirt and the previews were starting, so I brushed it off. A minute or two later, same feeling. Again, I ignored it. Big mistake. The next day, that entire area was covered in welts and the itching was unreal. I showed my cousin, who's a nurse, and she confirmed immediately: Bedbug bites. Let me be clear: I work in a sterile environment. I hadn't been anywhere else. The only place I went was THIS theater. My wife and I had to throw away every single piece of clothing we wore that day, plus all our bed linens and everything in the hamper. And here's the worst part: I tried calling AMC over and over. Never reached a human being. I emailed them twice. No response. Nothing. Silence. When the reclining seats showed up a decade ago, it felt like the future. And yes, I know people bring blankets because the AC is freezing (AMC even sells them in the lobby). But now I can confirm those recliners don't just have butts in them -- they have BUTT BUGS. This experience was so disgusting, so expensive, and so ignored by AMC that I honestly don't know if I'll ever step foot in a movie theater again. This place needs to be shut down and fully fumigated. Until then, consider this your warning: AMC Deptford has bedbugs. Stay far, far away. read more

Provides no silverware whatsoever. What theater that gives food to customers does not have the option for silverware. Bizarre. Theater was clean mostly as well as the bathrooms. $7 for a regular fountain drink is pricey but free refills. Employees were nice. read more

Great experience all around- first off ticket prices on Tuesdays are insane. $5 for a ticket??? Wow! Great day to go! Secondly, concessions staff were awesome, engaging, friendly and fast. I love a nice clean movie theater!!!!! This wasn't it!!!! I visited this movie theater because it was convenient on this particular day. The employees I encountered were very nice. The theater is outdated!!!!!!! It was probably the first theater with reclining seats ... my seat look like a cat clawed it. It was raggedy and itchy. The food was Super expensive! AMC is just overpriced and not worth the time anymore. The freestyle coke machine is nice, when your favorite options are available and when the machine is responsive. I know going to the movies isn't cheap, but you can save so much money a year by going to their competitors. read more

Not only do I go to the movie theater for the movie itself but also as a way of staying cool and comfortable in those wonderful lounge chairs! That is not the case anymore! What happened to me yesterday was beyond any chair or lounge chair that I have ever sat in Became the most uncomfortable broken experience ever. I look around the audience and I see that everybody is squirming and trying to find a way to sit in their chair comfortably, but all of the chairs in theater number seven were broken in someway. Take the money that you have made as a big corporation and fix one theater at a time one chair at a time will you please. So we came to this theater to watch the newly released deadpool movie and they would not let us in although a couple of us are 18 and the rest 17 i do not recommend giving your money to an ashame of a business. earlier in the day we watched deadpool 1 and 2 one disney plus which has access to many of the youth. the fact that 17 and 18 year olds willing to purchase their tickets aren't allowed in is just utterly disgusting to me. i've come here before and i am a rewards member but i will never again be spotted in this disgrace of a movie theater. if i could rate this place a negative star i absolutely would read more

From the moment we pulled up, I knew a review was in order. Maybe you grew up along the train tracks of Southern New Jersey (or as the locals call "South Jersey") or perhaps maybe you're like me and you are in from out of town visiting someone. You certainly don't need to have grown up here to see that this AMC is exactly as it was when it was built in circa 1976. With a big parking lot that was common back then, too! It's straight out of the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont high. Including the aroma that smacks your nose as soon as you enter the theater. It's a mixture of mildew, mold and old. However, the nostalgia that comes along with it more than makes up for what it lacks in curb appeal. Yeah, a sense or ironic humor is what you need if you are going to enjoy yourself here. I mean, come on - it's next to Adelphia. A banquet hall from the 1980s where proms were held and is still rocking the faux Greek columns and statues outside. If that is not enough, the pink lights at night really bring home what Deptford, NJ retailers have to offer. The theater was remodeled a few years ago and all of the seats recline. The prices vary throughout the day but expect a move to set you back about $15 per person before any concessions. There is a concessions stand with the standard fare. This is not a dine-in location. This was my movie theater growing up. It was basically the only legitimate multiplex anywhere in the area when I was a kid, I was there ALL. THE. TIME. It is a monument to early 80s theater design. Completely soulless and personality-free design? Check. Sub IMAX sized, but still HUGE auditoriums? Check. A reasonable amount of restrooms to handle even a slow weeknight? Ha! We didn't go to the bathroom in the 80s, you spoiled millennials! An appropriately sized concession stand? Pffffft. We arrived 30 minutes prior to previews just to wait in line for popcorn and we LIKED it! Still, in spite of the physical limitations of the building, when I went here for the first time in twenty years to see 1917 this past weekend, I was pretty impressed with what they did with the old girl. The theaters now have AMC's ubiquitous full-sized recliner seats, so when you combine that with the already large auditoriums, you get a pretty impressive movie-watching experience. Combine that with their offered concession-delivery service which allows you to skip the line entirely really helps maximize this place's potential. While it's an obviously old shell stuffed with new filling, I wouldn't hesitate to come back again if I was in the area. read more

Went 6/25. There was someones butter/oil left in cup holder. It stuck to bottom of our cup. When lifted it up the oil spilled all over on our clothes. We didnt realize it at first because the theater is dark. But the problem was bringing it to an employees attention and she was sweet but when telling the manager he look like he couldnt care less. I simply love this theater ever since AMC updated it w/ the 'pleather' red reclining seats! You can lounge them all the way back and up (for your feet) and even snuggle w/ your honey, as the arms between the seats go back. Pack a blankie for extra coziness! There's not a bad seat 'in the house'. Join 'Stubs' (think $20/yr) and earn rewards off tix, concessions and you even get online seating reservation fees waived ($2.50 value I believe). Before or after your movie, you can hit Filomena Lakeside, Tokoyo or so many others, including Bone Fish Grill or any little place you may fancy at the Deptford Mall. Was just here today and some lady almost hit me and my friend with her car in the parking lot. She followed us inside threatening to beat us up and saying how rude we were for giving her a thumbs up after she almost hit us. We kept trying to ignore her untill she threatened us. The managers on staff did nothing but watch and then treat me and my friend like we were the issue. The male manager told us to stop talking and just go see our movie. We were actually waiting for food we paid for unlike the lady harassing us. A female manager/employee not sure but she was also very rude telling us to either see our movie or leave. Nobody said 1 thing to the lady harassing us. Thankfully customer service people on Facebook were kind and apologized for the situation. read more

Went to the movies the previous night and noticed tonight that we lost a purse. We immediately called in and told the movie theater staff what happened. They were very helpful and on top of it and asked what theater and seats we were in. Because of the current movie showing we weren't able to come in immediately but they told us to come in when it was finished. When we got there the guy at the front desk (possibly the manager or shift leader) told us we could come in with him when the movie was done, to check the seats. In the theater he flipped the seats we were in and checked thoroughly with a flashlight and was able to locate the purse! We are so grateful for the accommodating and helpful staff. Crappy theatre. Needs renovations and cleaning. Went here over another theatre because they had the recliner seats. We got there and neither my seat nor my husband's seat reclined. We couldn't move because our son was with us in his wheelchair. I went out and told the person at the ticket counter. She said she would send someone in to assist. This was during the 20 min of previews. No one came. It was a 3 hour movie. read more

This has become my go to theater. Growing up it didn't have a great reputation but I guess it's gotten a renovation since then! Granted I always go early, but it seems extremely clean. The concession stand moves quickly and the size is appropriate for the space. I love that all of the theaters have recliner seats, unlike another local AMC. Minor critique is that one of the bathrooms usually has no paper towels or one of the sinks has no soap. read more

I went to see SpiderVerse 2 opening night here and it was at least 80 degrees in the auditorium. I asked the manager 3 times to turn on the a/c during the previews each time they said they would but it never happened. 15 minutes into the movie I had to leave because I was sweating so bad. I'm diggin' that so many theatres are converting their small and tired seats into big 'ol comfy recliners. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about...ever see that episode of "Friends" where Joey buys a big TV and two La-Z-Boy recliners? Joey and Chandler didn't move from them for an entire day and I can see why...recliners rock! Nothing like kicking back, feet up...got your popcorn, candy, soda...it's show time! You wanna know what else I like about this theatre? No lines people! Yep, you can purchase and reserve your tickets/seats online through Fandango. Just walk in, hand them your printed ticket (or they'll scan the bar code from your phone) and boom you're in! Of course you can still get tickets at the kiosk (like I did today because I hit a noon show), but otherwise online is the way to go! Got an AMC Stubs Card? Well, if you're a frequent movie-goer then you're gonna want one. For just 12 bucks a year, you'll get free upgrades on popcorn and soda, never pay online ticketing fees, and get a $10 reward for every $100 you spend. Do the "movie" math...yeah, it definitely more than pays for itself. Bottom line...AMC Deptford is a pretty nice theatre. This is a smaller theatre than the AMC in my neighborhood, but the seats and screen are so much better. I remember when there were like 100's of seats in a given auditorium, this one seemed to have 50 or so. And what incredible seats they are, full power reclining and hideaway arm rest for optimum cuddling. The space was clean from what I could see, and I noticed that as soon as the film ended, an employee was already sweeping up. I can't comment on concessions, because really, who wouldn't smuggle better food in anyway? As long as you're prepared to be parted with cash like a drunk at a strip club, this revamped theater should please. Big comfy recliners and an immersive screen experience, online ordering & super easy mobile phone check-in. The $12 AMC stubs reward yearly fee will pay for itself easily: No online fees, free upgrades on popcorn & drinks plus $10 reward bucks for every hundred bucks spent (Fandango included). Yeah the snacks cost more than tix & those teenage employees are surly, but c'mon folks... What's new about that? My kids had a blast playing with the seats. Pick your seats out online. Ample parking spots. We learned to just walk inside and the person who usually collects the tickets will scan the tickets on your phone. Grab some popcorn and then use the wacky soda machine to choose your beverage. I can't resist the big comfy, spacious seating with the fun red faux leather reclining seats. Great service. All cashiers and staff members are friendly and helpful. Theater was clean and we use Fandango to book our tickets early for the lounge seating. Regular popcorn, 2 lg waters, pretzel bites, and peanut m&ms...$35. I understand the movie experience, but it cost more than the movie. My only issue with going to the movies. Don't come to this theatre on a Friday or Saturday night. Showed up for a 10pm showing on a Saturday and witnessed a verbal altercation in the parking lot, a teenage girl arguing with someone about her drinking in the theatre and almost everyone walking in with backpacks, blankets etc. Once in the theatre there were two teenage kids chasing each other around barefoot and other large groups of kids being loud. My wife and I decided to leave and get a refund. As we were leaving we talked to another couple who had been threatened in another theatre because they asked someone to be quiet. We came back on a Wednesday night and it was fine. read more

How can any particular theater be your favorite place to watch movies, yet drive you crazy more than any other theater you've frequented? That has been my experience with the AMC Deptford 8. This theater was the first in the area to adopt recliner seats, and in my opinion, theirs are still the best. Other local theaters have begun upgrading their seats to recliners, but this AMC theater beats all of them in terms of comfort. This place is also very clean and has a good concessions area (which includes freestyle Coca-Cola machines). Pair that all up with an AMC Stubbs membership, and you have a recipe for one great theater experience. So what drives me crazy about this theater? Their showtimes. This theater favors 3D screenings, by far. And if, like me, you prefer to save yourself the headache and watch a film in 2D, you may find yourself struggling to catch a movie here at a time that is actually convenient to your schedule. And because seating is limited, good luck trying to reserve seats at one of the few convenient times you do find. On many occasions, I have found myself opting to watch a particular film at a different theater due to poor scheduling of 2D showtimes, even though I would much rather watch it here. This doesn't change the fact that this is still my favorite place to go out to the movies. I just wish they would try catering a little more to the non-3D-loving crowd. Update for my review: So, they did knock the other one down. In this one, they added fancy, reclining, leather like substance chairs to the theater. There are at least half the number of seats in each theater as there used to be (to fit the large lazy-z-boy style chairs). Even mediocre movies now sell out pretty quickly here. The screens seem to be the same, the sound system seems to be improved. However, this now leads to another problem. While watching a dramatic movie, I could hear explosions from the theater next door throughout the movie. What is the point of upgrading the sound when it still sounds like crap because the theaters aren't insulated for sound sufficiently. This theater used to be cheaper than others in the area, now it is exactly the same price as the humongous AMC Loews in Cherry Hill. It seems like the big chairs were put in merely to justify the price. While I suppose this is an improvement from what it used to be, it is absolutely not what I wanted to see happen. This place is a junky old theater, it could work if it acted like a junky old theater and showed movies that are on their way out of other theaters for a fraction of the price. Maybe the film industry is cracking down on this type of business venture. Maybe the film industry will crash and burn if they don't shape up their act. read more

Decided to go see a movie with a friend of mine New Years Day. I had never been to this theater before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The line was very long for tickets, and they only had one person working, so that was kind of annoying. I expected better staffing on a day where everyone has off. I liked the fact that you were able to reserve your seats, but the theater was small so your options were limited. I will say though that we sat in the 2nd row, and I didn't feel like I was on top of the screen like some theaters I've been to. The seats reminded me of a reclining chair you would have at home. It literally goes all the way back and is extremely comfortable and large. I didn't have any refreshments as I was coming from brunch, but they looked like your standard movie theater options. Overall, I was pleased with the experience and would definitely go back. read more

Clean, spacious and comfortable theater. Deptford 8 not only expects you to book your tickets in advance, this theater also assigns your seats...like a concert. This is great for the consumer as you can always select the place where you believe is the best location for you and your family. The inside of the theater is also very spacious. There is never a need to interrupt a customer already seated to get to your seat...there is plenty of walk space even with the seats extended. Large popcorn is reasonable- and offers free refills. This helps with making a night a the movies more affordable. read more

Great theatre since it's been remodeled. I know some people don't like the reserved seating-- I think it's fantastic! Never have to worry about crappy seating again. Yeah it sucks if you go last minute but... don't go last minute! They have nice show times and show many different films as well. The seats are amazing.
