Not the best dine in theater of its kind (I prefer iPic in Ft. Lee) although the seating is very comfortable and ticketing is easy -- as is parking. For a "dine-in" theater that markets food and beverages, the food service is just awful. Quality is on par with airline or low end fast food -- at twice or three times the price. You have to cue up to order and pay for your food which is later brought to your seat. Drinks are overpriced and uninteresting and you have to order booze separately at a different counter and tote your own beverages to the seat. They limit the number of drinks you can order and double anything counts as two separate drink orders requiring two id's. Kind of odd for a saloon, no? I think the best solution here is to eat and drink elsewhere and just pay for the show -- in which case this theater only experience is plenty comfortable. The leather seats auto recline and you get great views from just about any seat. Overall a useful neighborhood theater for movie going but count me out for dine in, unless it's just popcorn of course. ;) read more

Yes, it is a bit pricey and yes, the food is far from five star restaurant quality... but those are two things that come standard when going to the movies. Other than that, this theater lives up to the posh atmosphere that embodies all of Riverside Square Mall. The main lobby is swanky with multiple stylish seating areas and modern lighting. Seating is reserved and can be purchased on multiple websites, which might help in keeping the line down by the kiosks/ticket counter. The bar area is small, but I usually order a drink (or 2) to take with me into the theater (as they do not deliver drinks). I have yet to encounter a line longer than 3 people at the food counter, even on a Saturday around 5:30pm. That being said, I do recommend that you arrive at least 30 min before your movie start time so that, should you order food, it is ready and delivered to you at the start of the movie (unless you want to be disturbed half-way through). Parking is also ample if you drive around to the back of the mall, past the restaurants, where there is multiple level parking. I personally enjoy this location due to the fact that it is not as congested as other theaters, is clean, has comfy reclining seats with a swivel tray (push the arm rest up with no tray to cuddle) and is centrally located near a bunch of other restaurants if you don't want the food they have to offer. Wow! What an impressive movie theater. It has the super comfy updated reserved recliner seats. I will only go to movie theaters that have these seats from now on. Being that it's fairly new, I just hope that it stays as clean and nice inside as the years go on. If you want to drink or eat while you watch your movie, this theater has that option too. Personally I stick to the regular options like popcorn and soda, which this theater has as well. Order your tickets online and avoid the long lines. I don't understand why people complain about long lines when you can easily use a kiosk or order ahead of time. Options people! read more

I came here to watch a movie since I've never been to this movie theater. I admit I don't go to Shops at Riverside since they don't have that many stores. I usually go to the AMC at Garden State Plaza but I recently found out they opened an AMC Dine-In theater at the Shops at Riverside Mall. I've never been to an AMC Dine-In theater. The food looked overpriced and there weren't that many choices on the menu. The recliner seats were comfortable and the table wasn't that large where it felt in the way. I like that the cup holder was in the table itself. The bathrooms were very clean, definitely much better than AMC Garden State Plaza. I would come back to this theater since there weren't that many people and there's plenty of parking compared to Garden State Plaza. read more

I'm a movie buff. My girlfriend and I even run our own Grindhouse/Horror group on Meetup (www.NYCGRINDHOUSE.com). We're both AMC A-list'ers too. One of our favorite theaters to go to is the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Brooklyn, as you can order food and alcohol directly from the comfort of your seat. I 'think' the Alamo in Austin, Texas, was the first movie house to offer this. We've gone to many different AMC theaters in NYC and across the country while traveling, but we've never visited one that offers food and drink as they advertise on their big commercial for their A-list before each of their films at their theaters. As I'm a New Yorker with a car, we decided to drive to the closest AMC that offered food/beverage service which happened to be the AMC Dine-In at Riverside Mall, in Hackensack, NJ (www.simon.com/mall/the-shops-at-riverside/about). The outside waiting area of the theater is very clean and nice. Lots of space and set up well. We got tickets to see Vice starring Christian Bale and Sam Rockwell, among others. We didn't realize that we couldn't order food/beverage/alcohol from our seats like at the Alamo. Instead, at any AMC Dine-In you must pre-order your food and alcohol and then a staff member will bring it to you at your seat. OK, we thought, no big dead. We asked if we'd be able to order another drink from the staff member bringing us our food but were told that no, everything had to be ordered outside the theater either at the bar (yep, there's a small AMC bar at the theater) or at the concession stand. If we wanted another drink (or anything else) we'd have to get up from our chair, climb over the other movie goers, and leave the movie to do so. Not such a great idea if you ask me. First off you have to get up and disturb everyone around you, not once, but twice as you leave and come back. Plus you are missing the film which you came to see. Does anyone ever actually go out for a second drink or more food? I doubt it. The food we ordered was fair. I got a burger and bacon brussels sprouts, with nachos on the side, and my girlfriend got the Santa Fe chicken salad . The burger was good, but the nachos were luke warm. Not too got there. Because there was no one to complain to unless I got up and left the theater I just kept them and we ate some of them. There's no attendant to come take your plate/tray from you and the seats, unlike at the Alamo, are small and there's no table to keep your food on. It's only a small armrest to put your food on. It was difficult for the attendant who brought us our food to even get it on the armrest, so you can imagine that it wasn't too easy to eat it as there was no space to do so. Furthermore, since we had food next to us for the whole movie, we ended up both smelling like nachos, which was pretty unpleasant. I'm sure the people sitting next to us didn't appreciate the odor either. Upon leaving the theater after the film we wanted to assist the staff and bring our garbage with us, but there was no trash can for us to deposit our trash in. That's simply crazy. So we, along with some other guests we saw, just came back and put our trash on our seat. We still love being A-list members, even though they've upped the price now per month from $20 to $24, but we won't be going back again to an AMC Dine-In, or, rather, we won't be ordering food from one if we go again. Our experience really made us appreciate our favorite theater chain, it being The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (https://drafthouse.com), where you can order everything directly from your seat and there's actually one table per each 2 people to share. read more

I'm a bit confilicted about this theater. Very clean and convenient since it is located inside Riverside square mall with Tons of parking but, the whole order your food at the counter & we deliver to your seat seems a bit off. Also food was mediocre and pricy. Long story short, in order to order food, you must stand on concession stand and wait your turn. Then, they will tell you you must pick up all drinks at the counter as well as any snacks that you are ordering. They will only deliver food items on the menu and not any snacks or drinks? Why? First, food was definitely not cheap. Chicken and brussel sprouts were dripping with oil & not evenly seasoned. Brisket fries were not bad but, everything else we order was not much to say about. At the end of the day, if you are running late for a movie, just eat after. Concession stand did not move fast at all with 3 people working behind the counter. Eventhough we got to the theater on time, we missed the first portion of the movie waiting to order drinks, food & snack. read more

Glad that there's a new AMC in bergen county!! The addition of this movie theater at Riverside has really helped bring this mall to life :) This theater is pretty much your standard AMC. Though it is a bit smaller than the one in Garden State Plaza, this place gets the job done. I always enjoy watching movies here-- it's clean, well-maintained and has regular show times. I never had a negative experience here. The only thing is popular show times get sold out pretty quickly, so best to buy tickets online as early as possible. My daughter and I just went to Wakanda Forever Black Panther last night. It was our first time viewing a movie at this location. I must say it was really nice, and we will return. Plenty of parking, they have plenty of food options that you can order and it can then be brought to your seat . The movie theater itself is not large, and the seats are super comfortable and you can recline with your small rotating table and cup holder. They do clean up the theater before each showing but what I would say is they need to clean up constantly is in front of the food concession area. Folks drop popcorn napkins, candy etc and then you have to wade through all of that and order your food just a side bar read more

This is an impressive looking AMC. I love how you have to drive to the top level to get to the theater, which already saves you from the headache of looking for parking. The lobby area is so spacious with a fancy looking bar area that's separate from the food line. What I would have appreciated is that the prices for the food be listed on the menu posted at the entrance to the food line. I already expected the prices to be a little higher than if we had eaten elsewhere before the movie, but I was surprised at how expensive the food actually is compared to what you get. Aside from the price, the taste of the food was actually decent. I ordered the Southern-Style Chicken Tenders and my mom ordered the Dry Rub Wings. Both dishes were seasoned well and it was appropriate for 1 person to finish on his/her own. The theater itself was nice. The recliner seats are so comfortable and just the perfect touch to the movie watching experience. We came in when the movie previews were already playing, but finding our seats was easy. The floor is well lit and each step is marked with giant letters so you know which row to enter. Overall, I would come back for the recliner seats BUT the food isn't worth the price you pay for it. Next time, I'm definitely going to grab a bite somewhere else before the movie. read more

It's really unfortunate that such a nice luxury theater is giving out sub-par customer service. It's my fourth time here, and I can't say I've seen the customer service get any better. Management is very young, and not that I'm against hiring youths, they need proper training in customer service. And it doesn't help or set the tone of an Authoritarian figure when the manager is your peer. Corporate really needs to take a look into the comment and suggestion box and bring them up in the meetings, for instance: Concession Stand: 1) provide training to the staff on how to input Stub Member numbers so I can get my points; 2) train on how to check balances on AMC Gift Cards; 3) keep the drink and condiment areas clean. Theater Cleaning: make sure that all the seats and tables are clean and clear of debris from the previous attendees. Bathroom: please make sure all stalls are cleaned. CUSTOMER SERVICE: All employees should be wearing their name tags, because according to a worker, they don't have to give out their names; a worker should never shrug off a paying customer or roll their eyes. read more

I was sooooooo excited to find a "dine in" AMC in my neck of the woods. Visited there today to see Downsizing. Beautiful theater. Seats were nice and comfortable, screen was huge. That's all that was nice! First off, the term "dine in" is misleading. I've been to several other dine in theaters and generally, after seating yourself, menus are brought to you and when you're ready, you ring for the server. Your order is taken and everything is delivered to you. You can also ring for service DURING the movie. NOT AT THIS " dine in" !!!! Completely surprised to find out I had to wait on a line that twirled around the ropes to order. Afterwards you have to show your ticket so she inputs your seat number. A little bit later, the food is brought to you in plastic containers that then you have to fit onto small tables in front of you. Might I add, no utensils so I had to get up, miss some of the movie to take the LONG stroll from theater 8 to concessions and back again. The menu isn't as large as other dine ins. The food is ABSOLUTELY OVERPRICED!!!! Chicken tenders were 16.95 (fries over salted and chicken tenders bland) A regular sized cup for drink is 5.99. Larger, close to 10 bucks. Bottle of water is 3.99. Quite frankly, I asked for smaller sizes and they did not have that to offer. I'm quite content with a smaller sized portion. None available at this place. *** Side note.....during the movie the fire alarms went off. Although we all knew to get out, I was a bit concerned that my livelihood depended on teenyboppers who none of which looked like they had the confidence to take control of what was happening within the theater*** Despite this place being 15min away from me, I'd rather drive the hour away to the other dine in where I know they're stuff is together. read more

Got here for a 3:30pm show and bought the tickets online with reserved seats. Upon arrival, the ticket counter lady made me waited 5 minutes before making eye contact (despite I tries to get her attention by repeatedly saying hello). She seemed to be focusing on her iPhone. Anyway, it turned out I just had to go to the entrance and show my barcode. Then, I found out that they will not let us in until 3:50pm because everything was delayed due to an earlier fire alarm. We waited around and did not get in until a bit after 3:50pm. None of the employees really know what they were doing. Aside from a nicer seats, the total experience was a bust - as the food was expensive and subpar served in plastic containers. I paid $17.50 + ticket tax - plus about $20 with food and drinks. It was not worth it and would not come back here again. Not recommended! read more

Can I say that I LOVE THIS PLACE! Very much needed in this neck of the woods! Gorgeous and in one of my fav little malls. Never crowded! Can buy reserved seating online in advance! The seats are super comfy and recline! The theatres are well seated therefore any seat is comfy and movie is visible. We are AMC members so get points and get upgraded each time we go. Woohoo! The food isnt bad but so darn pricey!! Seriously-chicken tenders and fries -$17/18$? C'mon this isn't Houstons around the corner. Now, I know why I noticed a family eating McDonald's outside before the movie You'd easily spend a fortune with an entire family!! This is why I only rated 4 stars -sorry!!! Great customer service. I got my tickets through an app but the 2nd ticket was on another phone which I forgot to bring. Anyway, the manager was called and he looked at my credit card, my receipt, and made accommodations. Big thanks for not making me drive back home or purchasing another ticket! Seats were smaller than ridgefields amc diner. But one thing I loved was that my view wasn't obstructed by the tops of people's head when the chair reclined. I'd gladly trade in wider chairs to have a clear view of the screen. In addition, I think the mini desk attached for the chair for the food could be bigger and they should be built in a way that can be hidden away if you're not eating. It makes for getting in and out of chairs annoying (esp since the chairs aren't too wide). I can't speak to the food. I never really watch movies at a dine in location so I treated this place as any other theater. Although I didn't order any food I can tell you it smelled great. The guy next to me ordered some chicken and fries. Also, they bring the food to you in plastic containers during the previews. There's no button to call them back on the chair though. One thing they could improve on was more cleaning rotations for their bathrooms. Overall a good first experience! read more

The AMC at Riverside absolutely is not ready!!! We arrived at this gleaming new facility with seconds to spare before our 6 PM movie started, and searched our seats for a server call button. No buttons?!? Thanks, AMC, for telling us that this is a "dine-in lite" where, unlike AMCs in Essex Green, Menlo Park, and Bridgewater, we would have had to order dinner at a counter attached to the concession stand. This was trip #1 out of our movie therefore my husband missed the entire opening scene and plot set-up. At 7:21 PM no food had arrived. I spared the staff from an ugly second encounter with my ravenous husband and went to see what happened to dinner. Two nice server-managers assured me that dinner must have passed me. I returned to my seat. No dinner. About face. Back to concession counter. "Oh! We're so sorry. Your order is coming out of the kitchen now (7:40 PM)!" The food was cold and served in plastic containers that trapped wet condensation on food intended to be served hot and crispy. To a person, the staff was well-meaning and extremely apologetic. I'll try again once they've had 3 or 4 months to organize their operation and lose that deer-in-the-headlights facial expression. In the meantime, prepare for a disappointing experience. Update 10/15/17 The refund that AMC entered into their computer on 9/22/17 never showed up. On 10/2/17 they searched for, and couldn't find, the refund transaction. They promised to rectify the situation, but still no refund to date. I should be charging AMC my usual billable rate per hour for my time on this stupid task. I wish that I could reduce my rating of AMC from one star to zero stars! Update 11/10/17 Still no refund. Following up AGAIN tomorrow. I should charge them my standard consulting fee of $250 per hour! Update 1/15/18 Manager Stephen Tallaksen (sp) who ASSURED me that he would resolve this PERSONALLY has failed. When I stopped by the theater today to follow up, he hid in the back while telling a worker to take my phone number because he was "in a meeting." When I asked how long the meeting would be, the reply was "3 hours." Really? What would they be meeting about for THREE HOURS at 4:30 pm on a federal holiday? When I returned THREE HOURS LATER he had gone home, of course! Still no refund. Stay away from this train wreck of a theater! I will call AMC's headquarters to complain tomorrow. read more

This "Dine-In" AMC theater is beautiful and modern. It is extremely clean, which was great to see because movie theaters are typically dirty. Look most Dine-In AMC, the theater is equipped with a bar and lounge. The staff, like most theaters, are filled with unskilled and unexperienced teenagers, which is unfortunate because as in a Dine-In theater hospitality is essential, and these teens did not have the skills to provide that. The theater itself was amazing; fully reclined and spacious seats and clean. Our main issue we have with this AMC, and it's a big one, is that this theater is NOT a "Dine-In" theater. I don't know if this is a local thing or a companywide standard; years ago, when these theaters were coming out a waiter will come to you at your seat and take your order, then they will serve you your food while you're watching the movie. Also, the theater is equipped with ringers to notify the waiting staff with any needs you have. Now that has been radically modified, you order your food just like any typical theater and you bring your food to the theater, no service what so ever. You're pretty much paying for the nice seats and a small table to eat your meal. We did not like this at all! read more

I want to give 3.5 stars and I'll explain why. First, this place is beautiful. I love that lobby has a lounge area where you can actually chill while you wait for your movie to start. Even though you're going to be paying more to see a movie, for the experience, it can certainly be worth it. When my boyfriend & I went the first time, he had to go the concession stand to order and get the food while I sat inside the theater. I thought they'd bring it to you which is why I wanted to give it a 3.5 star rating. He ordered burger for himself and an Oreo milkshake for me. I thought the burger was pretty good but he wasn't impressed (he's more of burger connoisseur than I). The Oreo milkshake was great (hard to mess that up). I have a feeling these might be best things on the menu though. It may be best to play it safe as go with items most establishments should get right like fish & chips, wings, fries etc. I haven't had everything yet though so I can't judge properly. Aside from all of that, this a great spot for date night. The seats fully recline and the arm rest goes up so you can cuddle with bae while you watch a movie. was pretty excited about the dine-in theater in hackensack. i should've read the yelp reviews first. i've been to the one in essex many years ago, but this theater is different. went here for the first time with the hubby. got the tickets on the app and went straight through. seated ourselves and waited. he has never been to a dine-in, but i have. i told him we have to wait for the menus. watched waiters pass and pass and pass. NOPE! went on yelp to check reviews and saw that you had to order at concessions first. what kind of BS is that and so time consuming. so every time we wanted something, we had to get back up. that's not a dine-in theater experience. amc dine-in theater is supposed to be full service where you order from your seat! i ordered hubby a jalapeño burger with tater tots and myself a chicken cobb salad. i just love cobb salads, but when this one came i mixed it.. IDK. it was good except the chicken's texture was a tad bit slimy. so, every time i took a bite, i didn't know if i was eating the chicken. then around the few last bites, i ended eating a GLOB of blue cheese. EWW! i had to spit it out, it was disgusting. not that i don't like blue cheese, it was just wayy too much in one bite. the tater tots were crunchy though and hubby said his burger was UPDATE: my review still stands at 3 stars. The wings are soooo yummy with the bbq ranch sauce!! I get it every time with extra dipping sauce. Today I ordered fries and I dead ass paid $7 for the itty bitty they gave me. This is the worst place to watch a movie!! The food concession area is full of employees that are not capable of fulfilling an order. Lines that don't move for over 45 minutes. Our helper JERMAINE was the absolute worst. He over charged us, didn't acknowledge what we were ordering. When I asked to see the receipt, I questioned Why he double charged us. HE WAS CLUELESS!!! Finally, a manager came over to help us. He was useless and should not be a manager. Apparently, this was the 5th order JERMAINE has messed up. JERMAINE was the worst server we have ever experienced. I've been to this theater several times and never seen any creepy crawlers roaming around. Makes me nervous thinking about it. I don't like how they changed their menu. Food price is outrageous. I've been to this movie theater for a few months now. I would have given a solid 4 starts, except today a mouse ran over my arm rest in the middle of the movie. Yes, you read that right! A MOUSE RAN OVER MY ARM REST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE! Thankfully I didn't scream, but I did get up and leave the theater. The dine in experience is not a true "dine-in". You have to order your food at the concession stand and instead of waiting for it and carrying it back yourself, they bring it your seat. Once seated, you cannot order anything from your seat (like via the app or ask the servers), you have to go out and order. It's not a big deal to me, but calling this a "dine-in" experience is not accurate. I like the reclining seats, they are comfortable & spacious. First time here.. loved reclining seats. It was clean. Had great easy parking . Only issue was the air conditioning could have been colder. It seemed very warm on this hot day . Was excited to try out this theater and left a little disappointed. The seats are a little bit small compared to other theaters and the little table that comes with the seat are little annoying. They do not offer full dining service, so you have to place your order in the concession stand and someone will bring it to you. I order the bacon cheeseburger with french fries and my friend ordered the plain cheeseburger with onion rings. Both the onion rings and french fries were crunchy and good. The burgers were just okay. I guess for theater food it's not that bad. What really made me lower their stars was the service. The lady who was taking the tickets had an attitude when I asked where do we place the order and then the guy behind the concession stand was pretty nasty and look like he did not want to be there. If I could give this less than one star I would. The manager here is insane. She acted very hateful and discriminative towards my friend because he was Hispanic. It was sickening. She made us feel threatened to the point where we feared for our lives. When we feared she was about to get physical and saw no security guards around was when we realized something was really wrong... please stay away. It is a beautiful theatre with a modern look. Not sure how crazy it gets on the weekend. Visited on a weekday, which is probably the best time, no long lines or crowds. Food items are on the expensive side, but food quality and taste was good. The wait time to receive your food is a ridiculous 30-35 minutes. At this time the movie has already started and you just can't concentrate because you are just too hungry. The seats are more of a slim recline,kind of tight. This was my first time coming to this particular Dine-in and I was bamboozled. First of all I love AMC. Always a good movie experience. I expected a lot for this one because let's face it, it's expected to cater to the clientele at Riverside. My two stars are just for the new clean look it had and how far the seats recline back. This, however, is not a true Dine -in experience . I learned the hard way that I had to order at the concession stand and I was handed my pop corn. Then I learned that there's a bar but you have to carry the drink in yourself. So I was quite frustrated carrying my wine, popcorn, and my tickets. I wanted water but I just said I'll remain thirsty because I couldn't carry anything else. The bar and the concession stand are on opposite ends of the lobby. While I was in the movie I wanted another drink but I wasn't getting up and missing the movie. Now it's been a while but I have been to both AMC Essex green and AMC Menlo and both had us sit with menus.. you order before the movie starts and they bring it to you without you ever getting up. Not sure how this theater was rated low. If I had to guess, they may have had a few blips being new. There was a part of me that didn't want to write a review to keep this place a hidden secret as it is a gem. Prices are great for being all recliner auditoriums. The matinees are same price as other AMC but you get the recliners! If you want to purchase the hot foods off the menu then I gave a recommendation to arrive 10-15 minutes to the preview time. My last visit, I arrived right when previews started and ordered pretzel bites and got them at the start of the show. Everything is new and clean and modern! read more

Really curious to hear a response back from the theater If they had fixed the mice situation? I tried to call a few times but nobody picked up? This is a great location and great seating ... I really hope they fix the mice problem. If there are mice in the seating area ... would it be fair to be concerned about mice in the kitchen? Perhaps it adds a little extra to the movies and will keep us all at the edge of our seats next time we go! read more

I visited this theater to see Captain Marvel. It was a beautiful sight to see and service was really good. The only downside about it was my friend ordered a side salad and it came in a take out box that was smaller than small. I wish I had taken a picture of it because for the amount of money that was paid for the side salad it should've been a little bigger. Should've been a small and not an extra extra small. The bathrooms were very clean and so was the theater. read more

The food is not good. Dont get food here. I guess it beats the whole purpose of Dine In Theatres but I would come back for the full bar. Upon entering, you are allowed 2 drinks max per person. After that, if you want more drinks, you need to go back to the bar during your movie. I love that the theatre is kept sparkling clean. It gets very busy during the weekend but there were many staff working. read more

Food is bland and crazy overpriced. We got sad looking tenders for 18$ ... The trashiest of trash water (Dasani) is 6$ here. Even the popcorn tasted stale we ended up throwing out 98% of it. Just eat beforehand. I've been to other dine-in theaters with astronomically better food. read more

A MOUSE took my chicken wing!!!! Gross!!! Heard a noise, kept hearing it, used my phone to see what the noise was as to my surprise....a mouse took my chicken wing! My son is traumatized! I can't get this vision out of my mind! See live video attached read more
