OMG. I cannot believe I have not written a review on this place yet. Basically this place is my home away from home (besides the gym). I am not new to reserve and recliner seats. It was Santa Cruz that introduced me to lush movie experiences when I lived there - now I cannot fathom going to a regular movie theater. I started to come here even before I moved back to San Jose. I found myself here every weekend. I definitely took advantage of purchasing my tickets beforehand and having my ticket stubs download to my Apple wallet. I don't drink but when I went to watch a movie w/ a coworker/friend back in June, he bought me a White Russian. All I know is that the drinks cost $$$ here so I wouldn't recommend getting anything here unless you need it or don't care about about money. The line can be a pain in the ass... when I went to watch another movie w/ another friend, he waited almost 10 minutes for a beer. Comfortable. Clean. No complaints other than parking can suck sometimes. read more

Opening night for "Sing" was all the more special and fun with a group of friends at this fancy AMC! Our friend ordered assigned seating online through Fandango and since he had AMC stubs membership, the fee was waived. That is such a convenience and worth the price of the ticket, so you know you'll get a good seat. The lobby is nice and open and I like the touch of the decor of having famous movie lines carved in wood above the registers. Concessions was ample and plenty of goodies to choose from. And they have a bar! What an swanky place that you can have some drinks before a show. I guess depending on the movie you watch, it may enhance the experience. The best part of this theatre experience is hands down the reclining seats! They are nice and soft and comfy and you can raise your legs and recline back. I also noticed seats can be adjusted to love seats by lifting the arm rest. Time to cuddle up for those romantic comedies. The only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The women's restroom only had like 4 stalls and was a bit of a mess. I would definitely come back again when I am in the area. read more

Like Natalie Imbruglia...I'm torn. This new AMC is nice and shiny and fancy situated where Target used to be in NewPark Mall. I don't know if I'd come back again, but if I ever want to sit in the plush reclining seats, maybe I'll be back... Pluses: + Reservable seats + Seats that recline + Customizable drinks Minuses: - Large popcorn is a medium at Century locations AND they force you to join their Stubs rewards to claim the refill. Century doesn't do that and their popcorn is almost twice the size - No Kettlecorn! They have small bags of caramel corn or similar to it. - Only one area to get concession items, so if you're far in the boonies in the theater, you have to walk (*gasp*) all the way back to the front Pricing is ridiculous and don't particularly understand why you'd want to pay $5 more for Dolby sound. Maybe if you're really sensitive to having a great sound experience. Then maybe you'd shell out $5. Parking is good at the moment as NewPark Mall is kind of dead, but I know they're retrofitting so as soon as this place finishes, it might be a little crazy. Doors are located on the outside, so don't expect to walk into the mall and get to go inside which is different than some of the other AMC locations within a mall. Maybe they'll change that after the renovations. Other than that, if you're willing to pay a little more to ensure a good seat and not have to line up, then this is your place. But expect to pay higher prices for everything here with less quantity. read more

I still can't believe this used to be the 2-story Target and now it's this massive 12 screen theater that offers different viewing options, a full bar and tons of food options! Simply buying a movie ticket is something I've never seen before; all done via a digital touch screen. You don't speak to someone unless you have a question or the touchscreen isn't working properly. From there, someone checks your tickets and you are immediately guided to the concessions area. Here you will find the usual suspects: soda, candy, popcorn and nachos. Prices are pretty average to what you see at other theaters. Yay, now the fun part- immediately to your right after the food is where you will find the full bar! I highly recommend getting a Long Island instead of a single mixed drink because they are the same price and you get more alcohol in the Long I, get your monies worth! Now let's talk new, comfy, relaxing theater seat recliners. Yes, you read that right! Man, these theater loungers are commmmmmfy! The back reclining part adjusts to your liking and you can also adjust how high/low you want your feet to be. Talk about customization-comfort!!! I would definitely recommend this theater to anyone and everyone, solely on the comfort of the new recliners. I wish the bartenders were more personable, they had really dry/boring personalities. I'm surprised by all the recent poor reviews of this new movie theatre. Perhaps things have changed a bit since I visited, but all I can speak on is my own experience. Whether things have turned for the worse, I cannot say for sure, but all I know is that I had a blast! I came by with a small group on Feb 13, 2016, the opening weekend of Deadpool, and as expected, it was quite crowded. Buying tickets was a breeze through the automated machines, even though almost everything was sold out well in advance. We ended up purchasing for the showing almost three hours later, but it was fine, since we were at the mall and close to Lion plaza, and would be able to keep ourselves occupied. My other two companions went shopping, while I headed across the street to grab a sandwich from Huong Lan and milk tea from Fantasia. About an hour before the show started, we returned to the theatre to get in queue, and there was no assigned seating, basically first come first serve. Our group happened to be one of the first, so we were guaranteed a good spot. The waiting area is wide and spacious, and the patrons here are very well mannered. The crowd is much less unruly than at Century in both Union City and Milpitas, and probably comparable to the one on Automall in Fremont. One thing I noticed though. This is a blockbuster on opening weekend, and obviously sold out, but why is the line so short? When we finally were allowed in, I realized why. SUPER spacious reclining seats! For those who get claustrophobic at normal movie theatres, almost on the brink of slapping fools upside the head for constantly kicking your seat, this is the place for you! Our particular room houses no more than 60 seats total, and is far more intimate than the cattle-call stadium style seating you'd find at other modern megaplexes. Just make sure not to get TOO comfortable. You might end up falling asleep! Best of all, this is all for normal price! There is absolutely no upcharge (unless you view IMAX aka LIEMAX), and we simply used the AMC coupons readily available at your friendly neighborhood Costco. Only time will tell how well the reclining seats hold up to prolonged use, so hopefully, they are designed for the long haul. The overall design of the place is also quite modern, and the zen garden outside is a nice touch. Based on my own enjoyable experience, I will definitely be coming back for more, and I've firmly placed this AMC in the top three of Lower East Bay/South Bay theatres, joining AMC at Vallco and the aforementioned Century on Automall. Since I have not personally witnessed any of the woes others have supposedly encountered, this place is a strong 5 stars in my book! read more

Interesting that a built a theater here as there is another theater only two exits south on the the 880 freeway. Either way, I actually really enjoyed this theater. The layout is a bit confusing, but it makes it out with the quality of the actual theater room. Reclining motorized seats, and they are comfy. You can practically lay down and watch the film. Seriously, you'll feel like you're in bed. The sound quality is top notch and while we said close to the front, it actually didn't feel like it thanks to the seats. Overall, right now, this is my favorite theater in the South Bay/East Bay area. It's great. The most enjoyable movie theater experience I've had in my life. I feel bad for Pacific Commons, as it's going to be hard to top this. read more

This is still my favorite movie theatre out of all the theaters in our area. Unfortunately, I have friends who lives far and they like going to different theaters to watch movies so I have to go with what was agreed on. I simple do not like going to the movies where the seats do not recline. I love having my own personal space and not sitting so close next to strangers for around 2 hours. I like being able to pick my own seat as well. Recently, my son wanted to watch Bumblebee and we definitely bought our tickets in advance, online, and got seats here and watched it on Dec. 24th. We got great seats and we even got a cute Bumblebee figure for being an AMC stub member where it's free to join. We also get free popcorn refills for being members as well. It's so convenient having it at the mall because I got to finish some last minute Christmas shopping as well. The place still looks new. The restrooms are kept clean as well. I simply have no complaints about this place as well except for parking because they have to share it with John's Incredible Pizza which, surprisingly, still gets lots of patrons. AMC has advanced in order to get your refill on a large popcorn and you had to be a member. It would've been great to know this when I purchased my ticket so I had ample amount of time to sign up for the rewards to be able to then get my free refill on my $10.25 large popcorn. My biggest concern is that AMC does not accept Apple Pay, it's a 21st-century come on movie theaters. The popcorn didn't taste freshly popped but it is cool that you can add your own butter up to your own desire clogging your arteries and all. The cashier was nice & the ticket checker was nice. Came here a few weeks ago to watch Spider-man. We went right when it opened, but the doors were still locked. Confused, we walked all the way around to the mall entrance to hang around for another 30 minutes to see if it would open. Still not opened. Tried calling to see if they were ever going to open, since we like to get situated 30 minutes before the movie so we have time to get tickets and food and get good seats. No one even picked up. There were a lot of people crowding the different entrances of the theater too. If they say they're going to open up at a certain time, I really hope they would do so, it's just poor. Finally opened up and a lot of people rolled in. At this point I was annoyed since I could've just gotten here at a later time since all I did was wait for them to open. They have really interesting popcorns, I think I saw hot cheetos in one of them. They didn't have anyone to tell you which theater you were at when we went so we had to go searching ourselves. Chairs were really comfortable and were a good size. I'd come here again but maybe mid-day or night and not when it's supposed to be already opened. read more

I guess coming from NY, the nicest theater we had was ipic so that's my theater for comparison. This theater is huge and so nice! We came to see beauty and the beast today for an afternoon show. Like many other AMCs, this is reserve seating. That was great and saved me loads of time. They had choices like caramel popcorn which I've never seen at NY theaters before. There was a lot of parking even with such a popular movie in the middle of the day. The only complaint I have is that the consession stand was bit messy with overflowing garbage and paper anywhere. For a place with such a nice exterior, they should keep the interior clean as well. Now into the​ auditorium. It was huge! It felt like I was watching IMAX, but it was just Dolby digital which is just better quality. Has better graphics and sounds. The chair also vibrates which made the movie come to life. The chairs reclined, but when I pressed the fully recline button, it wasn't really completely reclined, but good enough. Seats are large and comfy. Overall, had a great experience especially for such a big movie. Will definitely​ come back. read more

For just being open for about a month, this AMC is pretty nice. When you walk into the lobby, straight ahead are some monitors where you can buy your tickets. There were two workers behind the monitors assisting those who needed help or were paying with cash. Once you receive your printed tickets and hand them over to the ticket taker, you can grab some snacks and refreshments to enjoy during the movie. The soda machines are the upgraded ones with the screen to select your refreshment choice. After the fancy soda machines, you can find the bar that has a decent selection of beers, wine, and other specialty cocktails. I decided to get a mango margarita with salted rim, which I enjoyed because you can hardly taste the alcohol. After you get your snacks or refreshments, you head down the path of windows to reach your screening location. Inside there are red leather recliners. The seats are coupled off so if you are on a date or just want some more room, you can lift the arm rest between the coupled seats. The bathrooms were pretty clean, which is always a plus. read more

So I've been telling myself since the grand opening that I would watch my next movie here but I lagged on it. So today I finally came here to watch Dr. Strange. This AMC theatre is so nice, huge, has a bar, and comfy recliner chairs. There's plenty of space for the recliners so it doesn't feel cramped like at other theaters. Being able to adjust your chair and not having to share the same arm rest with the person/stranger next to you makes a much better movie watching experience. In some rooms the recliner chairs are red, but the one I was in which was #2 were black. Now, I'm not sure if every room has the reclining chars but one of their staff told me that only the Dolby room showing the movie has the recliners. This is my new favorite AMC theatre and will come here more often. read more

Went here a few months ago with my boyfriend when we watched the Venom movie together. The theater is attached to a mall that we explored a bit before going to the theater to snag our snacks and drinks and then take our seats. It was pretty busy when we got there and you basically had to pick up your food first before paying at a cashier at the end. The floors and the areas by the fountain drinks were a bit messy, but it seemed like they were understaffed for the night and couldn't keep up with having the place being at least decently clean. We made our way to the Dolby theater we were going to watch the movie at and waited for our movie to officially begin. The sound and picture quality were great and the snacks are what I am use to at other movie theaters. The downside of this experience was that we parked on the other side of the mall and since the movie ended past mall hours, we had to exit through the back of the theater and find our car from there. Took a bit considering we were not from around here, but super glad when we finally got to our car. read more

One of my biggest pet peeves has to do with movie go-ers who decide to sit in the middle of the row and use the bathroom during the movie. Like, c'mon, it's annoying and distracting to have to put my recliner seat back up and down in the middle of the movie. Also, since it's dark and the buttons aren't lit up, you're probably going to have to climb over my foot rest anyways. AMC NewPark is one of my favorite theaters to go to. It's clean, you can reserve seats prior and the seats even recline! It's great to be able to lounge in a lazy boy recliner chair and watch movies. The seats are super comfy and soft, sometimes so soft that your back might be a bit sore at the end of a two hour movie. Do try and get here early because you can end up in the front two rows. Although, it's not too bad because you can recline your seat all the wayyyy back. The rows are spread out too to make room for the chairs so you won't have pesky kids or adults kicking your chair. There's also plenty of elbow room and space for you to get comfortable. Awesome theater, would come back for major blockbusters. read more

I saw the IMAX version of Elf. The volume was so loud it was horrible. They need to turn it way down!!! I'm sure it can hurt your hearing. The seats were very comfortable. And the screen was bigger than your normal movie screen but not as big as a regular IMAX film. read more

We got to come here with free tickets, but I had to come a day in advance to reserve the seats for The Incredibles 2. The seats are super comfy and brought my own blanket in with me to stay warm while I watch lol I really like how spacious everything is and the fact that the food court is self serve just makes the experience that much better. However, I think the prices are a bit too much, but I get discounted tickets whenever I want, so without that, I don't think I'd ever be coming here in the first place lol. Short Story: A fantastic cinema on the Newark/Fremont border. Long Story: I've been here several times over the past 2-3 years and this cinema rocks! They have ultra comfortable chairs (a few recline). The screen and sound are very modern and loud! The food is alright and as with any cinema it costs an arm and leg. The IMAX screen is awesome and is only slightly smaller than the one in Dublin. Since this cinema is so many years newer and so much closer to where I live, I would prefer this over Dublin. But if you're looking for the biggest screen then you might want to head over there! This place is also newer than Pacific Commons. This theatre also has assigned seating which is nice. The Fremont Pacific Commons also has assigned seating though I'm not sure if it's for all their screens. Verdict: I'll coming back! read more

The big dividing factor for me are the seats: Century: big, La-Z-boyesque dark brown leathers under a domey interior AMC: tighter, gaudy Target-red fauxs with stitching that can you can see under low lights Who's the winner here you say? Not Thor 3, I didn't like it as much as everyone else did; and definitely not any future Kevin Spacey film after his recent accusations... My fave movie place! And not cause it's close to home, the people that work here are super friendly and fast. I love reserving my seats and knowing where I'll sit. I haven't gone to another movie theater since this one opened with the reserved seating. The food: The bar McGuffins is good, the bartenders are not bad at all! I usually get myself a drink when I come to the movies which is a nice thing to do. The food is also not bad, we get the pepperoni pizza or the buffalo chicken and those are good. They have a good selection of snack and even the popcorn is pretty good. The location: This place has a lot of parking! the Sears next door just closed so there is that much more parking available. The parking gets full so you may have to take a walk but its not too bad! The movie experience: AWESOME!!! The seats recline, and they are comfy! We usually watch it in Dolby digital and it is great! The surround sound is awesome and the picture is just crystal clear. The inside of the place: The place looks usually not too bad in cleanliness but you know how movie theaters get, people go with kids or large groups and it can get messy. They usually have plenty of staff walking around cleaning. I want to say it's not too bad on cleanliness. I would recommend this place and if you're a movie buff like me, get the Stubs membership, it so worth it. You get discounts on stuff inside, you earn reward and they send you a birthday discount. I paid at the kiosk with my credit card and the machine doesn't give me tickets; called the associate / manger and showed him the transaction on my bank account and he blatantly and candescently said to my face that it didn't go through (even the bank couldn't tell you if a pending transaction has gone through right away, this guy was so confident just by looking at my bank app) No apology for the confusion and trouble - nothing, nada. The guy then had the balls to tell me to get amc membership and buy on the app. Only reason we stopped by was because we're in the area. Went this theater to watch the movie CoCo, movie suggested by daughter and my husband decided to try watching Movie on reclaimer chair so he bought the tickets online but only left us 1 hour 10" driving time(we live 40 miles away) luckily, traffic wasn't bad with a bit of rush, we made to the theater on time, coco was a very well animation very touchy story & movie. theater AMC12 was nice, when we arrived and try to use the kiosk to get our tickets, one young services guy address us that all we need to do was to let the people at the gate scans the codes from our cell phone's online tickets, we felt we received pretty professional customer services, our seats was easy to find, reclaimer chair was nice and comfortable, the sound quality were goodness good. I am planing to come back soon to enjoy some other movies here. read more

Love this new theater! It's connected to the mall, and has lots of great parking. Tickets: this theater only has reserved seating. So when you buy your ticket don't forget to keep it handy! Chairs: ALL the seats are Leather like and have a built in recliner option. Sounds: even if you watch the most standard option, it's pretty cool. During an action scene, you can feel your chair vibrate a little from the sound! Alcohol: they actually have a bar in the theater!!! There's different, but pretty cool! Exits: there's a few exits as you leave the theater that funnels you to the parking lot in front of the theater. Price: it's pricey! My family and I love going here. We recently watched Avengers Endgame here and were in our seats in a jiffy! What I love about this place is that you can pick your seats ahead of time. The walk in area is huge. If you bought your tickets beforehand all you have to do is scan them and you are granted entry. The concession stands are right next to the check in area, I do agree with the other reviews here that the concession stand is a bit gross to look at. There is popcorn and butter everywhere and if you haven't been here before, you'd be confused on how to get drinks. (You have to buy your drink at the front before you can get a cup to fill it.) If you manage to look past this, they have a great selection of Popcorn, candy and drinks! We chose the IMAX Theatre to watch Engdgame in. The rows are long and spacious so if someone needs to walk by you, you aren't awkwardly shuffling in your seat. The ONE and HUGE complaint I have about this theater (Auditorium 1) is its seats. They are literally so uncomfortable. I beg this place to put in recliner seats instead. These seats were just horrible and somehow manage to push you out of your seat as you are sitting in them. The only comfortable way to sit in these chairs is awkwardly to the side if you angle your body. This made for a horrible experience as we had to sit in these seats for 3 hours for Endgame! Other than that, it's a decent theater to watch a movie in.Buy ahead of time to skip the line and pick really good seats. This has been my go to theater since it's opened. But today there was something wrong with the AC and it was ridiculously hot. I spoke to the front desk and they stated it had been a problem all day. They also said they were "working on it". I should have guessed it would not improve since we were there at the last showing. I was super disappointed that there was no improvement throughout the movie, no accommodations made by management, and no apology. Perhaps I expected too much. Just a fair warning for anyone that may have a similar sucky experience. Also- the seats are awfully worn and there was a tear in the headrest part of my chair that I actually could feel scratching the back of my neck. I think it's time for some upgrades.... read more
