How can you not love Amelie's? I frequent this Pineville location and honestly I am so thankful they opened so close to my home. I go to Amelie's several times a month and always get a blueberry muffin because it is the best blueberry muffin you are going to find anywhere in Charlotte and I challenge you to find a better one and let me know! This muffin is baked with love, fresh berries, and a nut streusel. I get mine warmed when dining inside but sometimes I just grab it and go. While this location is in a large shopping center the parking is really a challenge on most days. It is not uncommon for me to park a couple of stores down to find a space. I think being adjacent to other businesses that require a lot of parking is probably the biggest overall. The space inside however is great they are constantly busy but there is always a table. They're are plenty of window seats so if you want to catch some sunrays you can. This place has the same quality you come to expect with all Amelie's that I've ever visited. Get the muffin of course and a macaroon for good measure. read more

Cute little bakery and I will do an updated review once you can sit inside again. I feel like at a place like this that is part of the whole experience. They have a lot of good options for food items like sandwiches, coffee, tea, and pastries. My husband and I got hot sandwiches with his coffee and my tea and we got a small variety desserts to take home. Everything was good but nothing spectacular or amazing that made me feel like I would NEED to go back and get more. I would love to see them do afternoon tea here, I think that would be cool. Anyhow, I will give them a try again and hopefully I will find something that stands out. read more

When I first started visiting Charlotte, I was taken to the NODA (and only) location. This was 2012. Look, they've enjoyed tremendous growth. I like eclectic local entities. I don't like that no one seems to know about, have on hand nor recall they once sold a cream cheese filled croissant. It was such a RATATOUILLE critic moment. It took me back to elementary school when I'd tag along or be forced to go with my while she grocery shopped and her treat to the kid with all the allergies was a Cream cheese filled croissant from Brookshire's. It was our HarrisTeeter before Krogers bought some interest. And, when I found Strawberry cream cheese croissant as an upgrade it was...alas my sentiments and feelings run deep, huh?!?! Either way, cute chic place. Prices still High but it's expected and the score is for someone trying to push that cheese danish on me like cream cheese filled croissants can't return. While checking my Yelp app, I was excited to find that there was a new Amelie's location outside of NoDa, not far from where we were. After dinner, we stopped by for dessert (at 7 p.m.). We found the new Amelie's at the end of the strip mall plaza and, upon entering, loved that they recreated the look of the NoDa location and had plenty of seating. We walked up to the counter to view the pastry cases. They looked a little bare boned, not what we're used to at the Amelie's in NoDa. We inquired about the chocolate croissants. We were informed that they were out of them (as we could see in the empty case) and that the best time to get pastries is in the mornings. Huh. Frustrated, we just left, dessertless. The cases at the NoDa location ALWAYS seem full of EVERY dessert whenever we've stopped by, no matter what time of day it was. So now we have to base our dessert options on when we come? No thanks. I have been frequenting Amelie's since I moved to Charlotte 12 years ago. Was excited when this location opened. The gluten free salted caramel brownies are awesome as are the macaroons. These are our go-to items. Today I went here to meet friends for coffee and lunch. I ordered a cup of ham and bean soup, which was good. However, I asked for gluten free bread on the side, which they have by the way, and was told no. I asked to pay extra for a slice and they said no a la carte. I was told no by two different employees. This is such a bad practice for any restaurant. They should be more accommodating for such requests and be more aware and flexible for those with food sensitivities. This experience was not a good one, unfortunately. read more

Always a great place to pop in and do some work away from the office or home. I especially like the Carmel Commons location b/c it massive and you can spread out. This location has all the same favorites and variety of the NODA and uptown spots. It's the best coffee we have on the south side and what goes. Although not quite as crowded or as hip as its NODA location, this Pineville location has the same great dessert display case where, of course, their fabulous coconut macaroons and French macarons are conspicuously displayed. I also enjoyed their caramel topped brownies. Their sandwiches are okay but, curiously, they use frozen spinach instead of fresh, which does really doesn't cut it for me. The Sun Flour Bakery down the road does a better job with sandwiches with all fresh ingredients. The coffee bar here is superb however and serves up excellent lattes. Overall, this is a nice dessert place after dinner elsewhere. read more

Well maybe if I hadn't experienced the Noda location this would've been an easy 5star review however knowing that the customer service, the taste of the pastries, the crowd, the hours are all better in Noda I have to take the star-rage down on this one. The pros: Conveniently located for me and my family Quick French Fix (pastry) Very easy on the eyes The cons: The cost Hours Taste Variety at all hours I could go on and on but I won't, I like Amelie's and will return to this one when convenient but if I had to choose and time isn't an option I will head to Noda especially since I can go any time of day or night and get a sweet fix as they are 24hr. I love this location, I've been here a few times. Beats the heck out of paying for parking uptown. Ohhh and let's not forget the crazy hunt in the NoDa area. Wine Wednesday!!! Girl talk and a girl talk--My gal pal has never been here. The outdoor seating is awesome. Never too busy--seatings always available. This evening I noticed there was live music! I hope it's every week. The wine selection is small but satisfying, I love the wine bar. I could sit here everyday!! I love the ambiance here. Too bad it's not dog friendly--with all this beautiful weather my pup and I would enjoy the outdoor seating. A few of my personal favorites- let's start with the Sparkling Lavender Lemonade!! This is the second time I've been here and I only came back hoping that the first visit was just an off day. Sadly their macarons are hit or miss. This is a big deal considering they are a French bakery‍. I shouldn't have to wiggle a macaron up and down trying to tear a bite off. I also shouldn't receive scratches on my gums from macarons. They're really just too hard to enjoy. The few that were right (not rock hard, but a slight crisp across the top and then a soft chewy bite) were ok. I came for the gluten free treats, and I did not try every option they had. The mini mousse was ok. I had a strawberry rose lemonade that was pretty good, but was missing any rose smell/flavor. The four stars are mainly for the customer service. Clumsy me left my debit card in the machine and a very kind and honest employee ran it out to me. A quick look at my profile will reveal that I'm a true Amélie's loyalist. What makes this location special for me is its two miles away from my office! Drink, ALL THE COFFEE! You'll find the usual Amélie's offerings in a less compact seating arrangement compared to NoDa. Speaking of which, if you're nearby, this location is a great place to try the pastries because it's not nearly as busy as the NoDa spot (yet!). They always have some sort of seasonal offering and today I tried the fall-themed S'mores Macaron. Scrumptious, vanilla, wafer-like cookie texture, with a creamy marshmallow & dark chocolate filling, yum! The Pecan tart is also great and it might give your grandma's coveted pie recipe a run for its money! If you don't have a sweet tooth and are coming in for coffee, tea, or something from the lunch menu, feel free to bypass the crowd in the pastry line and go straight to the register. The Uptown location has solved this potentially unnecessary waiting with line dividers which makes it very clear that you don't have to wait in the line if you're not getting delicious pastries, perhaps they don't have that problem here. Now, my only concern is my waistline. Curse you Amélie's, with your delectable treats around every corner of my day to day life. I fear I must admit defeat resisting you, but hey at least I get a delicious coffee as a consolation prize! read more

This was the first and only Amelie's location we've been to (so far, anyway). I ordered a turkey and brie half sandwich with a side of spinach, asparagus and leek soup. Enjoyed both. I was expecting more of a pureed soup, so I was surprised to get a thin soup with chunks of vegetables. It was delicious nonetheless, and I would order it again. Enjoyed their sweet bread pudding. Their vanilla strawberry petit gateau was a tad too sweet for me with more white chocolate filling than cake. I would have preferred to have it the other way around. Their macarons were okay. My husband seemed to love his twice baked almond croissant and cinnamon pull-apart bread. He wouldn't share. We all left happy with full bellies. Reasonable prices. A definite repeater. read more

A true oasis of originality in our very corporate-chain saturated part of Charlotte. The Pineville store is equally as charming and whimsical as the original NoDa location, the only bummer is this location is not 24 hours like the original Amelie's... Some of my favorite things are the Fruit Tart - I recommend purchasing the 8" because it's THAT good and for $20 you get about 6 servings vs spending $6 on a single serving tart that you'll just be craving more when you're done! Also... don't ask me why, but Amelie's yogurt is phenomenal! It is homemade and there must be a secret ingredient because I've never tasted yogurt so perfect before! Last but not least - the Chicken Salad sandwich and Spinach Leek Potato Soup will make you happy dance in your seat with each bite. read more

You are just paying for poor management. This place preys on people that believe french food is amazing but have no basis for comparison. $8 for a breakfast sandwich? A croissant with eggs, cheese, spinach and tomatoes. Im not sure if they are smoking the french ganja but that is ridiculous. Food cost for that should be a $1 or less. Average restaurants have a food cost of 28% not 10%. Breakfast food is supposed to be cheap since it barely costs anything to make. If you go there at 7am the eggs seem to be fluffy but if you wait until 9 or 10 they seem to have settled. That leads me to believe they are making large batches and not really made to order. I don't mind paying for quality but this place is ridiculous. You are literally paying for their management to have 15 people working there but you have to order at the counter? In france there is no tipping so why do they keep a tip jar out at the counter? You are also paying for a lot of food waste or lining the owners pockets. Either way I believe this whole restaurant concept needs to be reviewed- go check out other places like Another Broken Egg or even Metro Diner for comparison. read more

Amelie's is great spot to have your morning coffee and pastry. The decorations really provide the unique ambiance they you can get no where else. It seems to have a big Tim Burton/Alice in wonderland/Mad hatter feel to the place. You'll see Eclectic artworks, upside down tables and chairs and out of place chandeliers that seem to work well together. The pastries itself offer a huge selection of options, ranging from cakes, cookies and french style tarts. Coffee is also extremely delicious here. There are plenty of seating around and its mostly a self serve place. When I went, there seemed to not be enough seating on a Friday morning. Either way I am a huge fan of this place. I came in on Resurrection Sunday because I drove all the way down to go to my favorite Marshall's only to find it was closed. Since I'm usually at the NoDa location on Sundays grading work, I figured I'd stop in this location before heading back up. It's located at the end of a strip mall and has an open floor plan. We are all in the same room. Not like the NoDa location where there are little tucked away spaces. I ordered my usual tartine and the orange rosehip soda. If I'm ever in the area, I'll likely stop in for a treat. read more
