American Chevrolet has to have the worst service department I have ever dealt with. I've had my truck 9 months the truck has been in the shop 8 times. 5 times for leaf springs that pop, 2 times for in the infotainment screen issues and now the truck is using oil. They will gas light you and fix nothing, told me it was normal for vehicles to use up to 3 quarts of oil in between normal oils changes and up to 1 quart per 1k miles if you tow with your truck. I asked for the bulletin, and they could not produce it for the diesel engine. They will not troubleshoot your vehicle. At this point I've started the lemon process. The springs still pop, infotainment screen is glitchy and my new truck eats oil. American Chevrolet will look for every excuse to not validate their costumers' concerns. Stay away!!!! read more

This review is long overdue but "better late than never" right? My husband and I had been shopping since November of 2022, we decided to visit American Chevrolet because we were in the market for either a truck (silverado) or a large suv (tahoe). Upon entering we were greeted by Dom, super friendly and up beat guy! We told him we weren't there for a purchase as we had just begun our shopping and he was perfectly ok with that, there was no pressure on his side as far as trying to push a purchase on us but man was he helpful in answering all of our questions and facilitating the test drive! We left and didn't end up coming back until January of this year and to be quite honest the only reason we went back was because of the great experience we had with Dom! We visited a few dealerships and it just didn't feel right, the interactions with staff were not bad but they weren't great either. Long story short we called Dom, made an appointment and he did an amazing job as usual making us feel comfortable, answering all our questions, and addressing all our concerns. My husband went the weekend and called them on Monday for update. They weren't available so they said they would call back. Over an hour passed and they returned my call. Very frustrated with their service department. I have been trying to get my truck fixed since March. They needed to wait for a field tech from GM to confirm what needed to be fixed no problem waited a few weeks called back asked when are you making an appointment?? Stated they were still waiting... so I called GM, GM stated there shouldn't be this long of a wait suggest maybe I should take to another dealership but Carl kept promising me he was trying to get it fixed but now his In house tech is sick and the other one is gone he will be back next week.. okay well I'll need a rental and GM agrees I need a rental. So my appointment finally scheduled for tomorrow. They have no rentals available and I'll have to pay for it til SHE (the manager) states it's warranty or not. Told me I was the only one who heard a clung well weird I never stated I heard a clung that was their team I stated what the truck was doing they heard it when they took a look at my truck in MARCH. So I'll have to reschedule my appointment and give them my credit card information if I want a rental now. I have two jobs and children. I can't just not have a vehicle and I need one that works properly. She was extremely rude when I reached out to her, I was only trying to explain how frustrating this experience has been. I wish we had the 5 star experience. We made an appointment online at least 2 weeks ago and chose a particular mileage service to be done. (22.5k) We chose the option to wait as we drive almost an hour to get there because we have had good service there in the past. We were told when we arrived we would need to leave it all day or until tomorrow. For a service?!? Why have the option to choose to "wait at the dealership" if when you arrive they tell you that you can't? It was basically an oil change, tire rotation, replacing an air filter and checking fluids and lubricants and topping things off and doing their normal "safety" type checks. Something that probably pays the mechanic 1.5 hours in labor but only takes them an hour to complete (if that.) Then when we arrived the service advisor we chose was busy and basically walked by us as we spoke with another rep and said I'm with another customer and vanished. So we were told to move to the quick lube since leaving the Tahoe all day is out of the question and they give us crap cause we don't have an appointment with them. We spoke to the service manager who "listened" but I'm sure could not have cared less. I'm sure we aren't the only ones complaining about appointments and inconvenience. Then when the quick lube employee took the Tahoe he drove off with the e-brake on causing the brakes to squeal until he realized why. I get it that a little ways won't hurt it but when it's your vehicle and you take very good care of it it's very irritating that someone else wouldn't handle it with care as well. Especially when it's your job. We are not unreasonable people and fully understand how businesses work, especially car dealerships. We know an appointment is not a promise to have your car looked at right at that moment but more of a check in time. But don't give people false expectations online that it's so easy to wait for a service when in reality your shop is backed up and you can't get to simple maintenance. read more

My Tahoe just needed a oil change, I usually go to Alfred Mathews for that but when I called them the soonest they could do it was late next week. Drove up to American Chevrolet and pulled into their Express Lube. Was promptly met by a service advisor and he said it would be 1 1/2 hr wait. They were extremely busy at the moment. Do not get your car serviced here. i tried to get my trucks leaf springs replaced under my extended warranty 3 times already and they said they couldnt do it just cause a noise. The last time they looked at it they said they fixed it but they fixed some other issue that was going on but the leaf spring fix was BS. This 3rd time they said...There is a bulletin to install inserts and replace the rear leaf spring shackles. I got the brake vacuum pump covered but the rear suspension noise not covered. Cost to replaced the rear shakes and install the insert is $490. So i said i dont want it fixed if they not gona cover it under my extended warranty. So they decided to charge me $180 just for them to look at it wich was major BS. GO TO A DIFFRENT CHEVY DEALER read more

My service is always great at the Dealer. That's why I go to the Dealer. I have feedback regarding the quicklube service though hopefully someone hears me out on this. Its about the new decision to use 2 bays for appointments only and use 2 bays for first come first serve services. I waited really long for only being 5 cars back. Before I would have been out in about 1.5 hrs with only 5 cars ahead of me. Now its double and I saw people leaving cuz the wait was to long and there wasn't that many cars in line yet there was a free bay in the appointment only. I'm from the bay area and I visited this dealership last Wed 2 hours away bec it has the vehicle that me and my family liked when we were looking through the choices Capital One has given us. From the first person we've encountered (receptionist and Ana) to the last (the one who assisted us while explaining during the signing of papers), all of the personnel were friendly and helpful. The person who was assisting us during the showing of the car (Martin Gomez) was very helpful. He accommodated all the requests I've made in seeing the car like requesting to drive it greater than 60mph. I am still on my way in building good credit and I was a bit embarrassed but they were able to assist me and help me get the best deal for me and my family. The car is as advertised. It ran very well. There were a few tiny scratches and the paint on the side mirrors have peeled off but those are really not noticeable. It was a used car after all. What is important was that it was well-maintained and ran very smooth. All in all, the process of buying the vehicle was easy and fast. I was able to get the car the same day. It was worth the trip of 2-3 hrs drive to and from Modesto. I highly recommend the service from the American Chevrolet dealership in Modesto. read more

If I could give no stars I would. American Chevrolet was a nightmare to work with from the start. I needed a new transmission my GMC Acadia was under warranty. Well it took them days to even diagnose my car. It was dropped off on a Wednesday in January and wasn't even looked at until the following Monday. What good does it do to have an appointment? I was without a car for almost two whole months due to their negligence. Once it was finally assessed by an adjuster from my warranty company they needed to send the part to American Chevrolet which was fine but they never heard of that. My dad used to work for Alfred Mathew's he said it wasn't unheard of but not very common. Well the part arrived at American Chevrolet and sat for days because they didn't know it arrived. Brad from the service department was a nightmare to work with throughout the entire time. He said he kept calling the warranty to get an approval from the warranty company to approve a gasket for the transmission and the last record they have him even calling was February 9th which we were already well into February. Flash forward to when I got my car back the AC stopped working and it was working before it went into the shop. Well they say they didn't touch it we've called several times about it and they always say they'll get back to us. They're going to check my service report but no callback from them. My dad used to be a mechanic for Alfred Matthews he can no longer work due to medical issues, but he was able to check where the problem was able to be coming from and he said that the cap that covers my Free-on was loose and not even down all the way on one side that it looks like someone had opened it. He said the only way for that liquid to come out is if I had a leak or if it was vacuum sucked out it needed to be recharged. Well I had no leak. They just sucked all the fluid out and tried to say that they did not and they did not wanna fix it because they have no record according to their knowledge that they sucked it out. But were going to check out the service report and get back to us because it should not have needed to be done in order to do my transmission according to them, I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau of automotive's because this is just ridiculous. I took it into Mazda and they fixed it no problem. I will never ever go back read more

Greed is the motivation of this dealership. I get capitalism and all that but charging a so called "market value" to your locals is ridicules. Locals, you know the people that actually live in the community that do businesses with the dealership with oil changes and other routine maintenances checks and services. So it's highly disappointing when you run across a car you saved for several years to purchase and the mark up is $30k! Yea $30,000 over the asking price. The car we're talking about today is the new Corvette. Gone are the days when the average Joe could purchase a Corvette with a little saving and sacrifice. Sadly now it's only a very rich man car. Having own several Corvettes in the past C4 $25k new C5 $40k C6Z06 $70k were expensive at the time but they were in reach with a lot of overtime and sacrifice . (like not going on vacation for 3 years) But now out of nothing but greed, American Chevrolet among other dealerships to be fair, are marking up prices that out of the reach of the average blue collar guy. Only rich guys and lotto winners apply. The big lie of market value is a great deception of so called supply and demand. In reality, its just greed. The dealership can make a decent profit at MSRP. But the a markup creates a environment of people bidding and inflating the true cost of the car. In which the dealership gains $30k plus on profit. All of this is good and all for the dealership owner, but the loyal customer who is left without an option to buy must go elsewhere outside his community to find a decent deal. I asked the sales guy today at American Chevrolet if locals start going elsewhere for cars, what's going to happen to the dealership? Unemployment line I guess. :) read more

Honestly i am really disappointed. On Saturday i broke my drives side mirror and i have been driving with the mirror hanging down. Today i went into American Chevrolet in modesto to see of i could get an estimate on how much it would cost to fix the mirror. It was busy which I totally understand and would have made an appointment. However I don't understand why I would have to leave my car for the day to have it looked at when I know the mirror is the issue.
