This company was sent out as part of our Home Warranty. Our AC wasn't turning on and the technician came out. He complained about having to go into the attic to look at the air handler. Then he removed the thermostat and undid all of the wires put them back and checked to make sure the fan was working (not the AC, just the fan). Said you're good to go. This was last week, we haven't needed the AC until last night and I went to turn it on and the only thing that worked was the fan, it was 89 in the house and it wasn't getting any cooler. Terrific service and unmatched price. I had my rooftop AC replaced. I obtained 7 quotes. I obtained several quotes from the AC companies that advertise heavily on TV. Not surprising their quotes were significantly higher (to cover their advertising costs). I also obtained quotes from AC companies with strong online reviews. Only one company came somewhat close to American Cooling's price but couldn't match American Cooling's warranty. American Cooling is run by Scot. He picks up the phone when you call. All the other companies I called had a dispatch person answering calls. Scot has an extensive background in designing and installing large commercial AC jobs. So, residential work is very simple for him. He patiently answered all my questions and promptly responded, even on weekends. I'm so glad I went with Scot's recommendation on unit size and unit type. He didn't try to up-sell me (to make more money) and he didn't try to down-sell me to make a quick sale. I would trust Scot to replace my elderly mom's AC and highly recommend him to my friends. He relies on word of mouth for business, not advertising. So, he has a strong interest to make sure his customers are happy. Scott requires his installers to text him a complete set of photos of the finished work before the installer can leave. Scot makes sure the work is done right. He did just that for me. My wife and I had been coddling our 22 yr old American Standard 5-ton for the last few years. We've had a few reasonable ($100-200) repairs over those 22 years, and a couple very recent $1000+ repairs. We knew we were living on borrowed time with this unit, so after looking, getting estimates, and saving up for the big bite...we settled on American Cooling & Heating in Gilbert AZ. Scot Morgan is the owner, and he's been in business in the Valley for about 30 years. His estimate was $3K less than the next best estimate, and the rest were higher. Even more amazing is the warranty from AH&C...so much better than all the others. Todd and his crew arrived early, started work immediately. They removed the old unit, along with a large MasterCool swamp cooler that was nonfunctional. They refabricated the plenum, installed a new electrical whip according to standard specs, installed the new Ruud 5-ton heat pump, ran a new evaporation drain, as well as new support timbers and resealing of the roof in that area. I've never seen a better, cleaner install of a new roof-top A/C unit!! They finished finished in a very reasonable time, and got my new ecobee thermostat set up real nice. Three years ago our AC wasn't cooling like it should and we called American Cooling and Heating. They responded very quickly and determined that there was a refrigerant leak in the system. However, they could not determine where the leak was so the used stop leak and recharged the system. A year later, again the system wasn't cooling as it should. They came out again and found that the system was low on refrigerant, so they added another can of stop leak and topped the system off. This year I had a check up done on the AC by another company and they found the system was again low on refrigerant, thus the leak was never sealed. I called American Cooling and Heating in the hopes they would honor their 3 year warranty. Scott said he would, and that they should have never used stop leak. He said he would send one of his top techs out the next day. The next day Joe, Scott's son, came out and over a four hour period did what should have been done from the start. We located where we thought the leak was. He proceeded to reseal the system in two areas and then verified that the system was leak free by ensuring it held hard vacuum. He then recharged the system with refrigerant and we verified the system was cooling. What a difference. In the end, there was no additional charge and Joe extended the warranty another 3 years. Thank you Joe and Scott for honoring your word and doing the right thing. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it took 3 tries to get the repair done correctly. read more

Our home AC stopped working and we needed someone to look at it fast. Within an hour of calling, Al from American Cooling and Heating and was knocking on the door. The air had started working again while were waiting for him so he checked everything and found that a condenser was leaking and had shorted out. He replaced it and had everything back to together within 15 minutes. I had a fantastic experience with American Cooling and Heating. I called on a Sunday afternoon in July and a technician (Al) was at my door in less than an hour. Al quickly diagnosed the problem with my air conditioner. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me that he had the part on his truck. Al fixed the problem in less than an hour and I was back to having a cool house! The next day a manager (Scott) called me to let me know that he had talked to my home warranty company and was able to get everything paid for by the home warranty company. I called these guys after my 3rd unsuccessful attempt at finding a trusting honest air conditioning company. My air was sporadically getting warmer throughout the day and then would cool back off. First company said I need a whole brand new unit, second company wouldn't even get on the roof. Shaun arrived exactly at 3:00, which is the time I asked and was very knowledgeable. After quick consult, noting that the system was thawed out and back up and running Al was willing to come by but told me without the system acting up it would be hard to diagnose, suggesting a service appointment to give the system a thorough checkup. Sunday evening 7/09 we noticed our house temperature was getting warmer and our AC was blowing hot air. Going outside to the compressor unit the fan was not rotating and with my limited knowledge of HVAC I knew that was not good. Called our normal AC service - no answer. Started going down the list in Google for 24 hr. emergency AC service. Got 3 companies but all were totally booked through the night until Monday morning. On the 4th try I got American Heating and Cooling. Scot said he could have someone out in an hour and the repairman was onsite in about 30 minutes. In short we had several problems of bad capacitors, possible bad fuses, and a safety condensate drain switch that was malfunctioning. They thoroughly checked everything and as of this writing Tuesday the AC unit is working great. In writing this recommendation I checked the other 5 star comments on Yelp and can agree the service and support were stellar. Last night we came home from work at 8 PM and our AC was not working and our Nest thermostat was saying there was no power to the thermostat. The circuit was not tripped, so I knew we had a serious problem. I called American Cooling and Heating, and they answered the phone right away. Tim arrived at our house within an hour, and discovered that our air handler disconnect switch was bad. This is literally just a standard light switch that turns the unit off, and he doesn't have one on his truck because it's not something an air conditioning company usually deals with. In fact, he said he has never seen this switch fail in all his years of work! Fortunately this is a $2 part that I can install myself, so I went to buy a light switch to replace the faulty one. He was so kind right off the bat and said he could be to our house by 8:30AM...I said "today?!". He said yes, ma'am, I'm going to finish my next job and I'll be over. Holy cows! So Al showed up right at 8:30 as promised, diagnosed the issue, talked to my over protective, watch out for scammers father over the phone, explained everything in detail to his satisfaction, fixed the problems and I'm sitting here in a cool house before 10AM! I called about 8 different HVAC companies on a Friday looking for someone that A. I could afford and B. could get my AC system installed within 24 hours! American Cooling and Heating met both requirements! I worked with Wayne from sales / estimating and gave him all my requirements via text over the phone. Now I have worked in the new home building industry for several years as buyer so I kinda knew what I needed. Wayne recommended a Frigidaire split system, 3.5 ton heat pump and air handler and we agreed on an "out the door" price. American Cooling and Heating beat everyone's price. A scheduler called me and we set up an appointment for early the next morning. American Cooling and Heating was swamped so they used a third party installation company that they are affiliated with called ASAP. The guys from ASAP showed up at 6:30 am right on time and did a great job installing the system. There was a slight problem with the original air handler they had but Wayne personally delivered a new air handler and got the job back on track.
