This is a really nice Ace. Pretty big. Good amount of supplies. Wide variety of nuts, bolts, screws, nails, etc. Obviously if you need tons of options for larger items, you need to go to a big box store (Home Depot, etc.) if you need to see like 30 faucet options or 20 drills, etc. BUT if you just need to pick up some common supplies and are not too picky about a huge variety- this is the place to go. At big box stores, for many items, you need to buy in bulk- 100 nails or screws, etc. HERE you can just get 1 of whatever you need, which is nice. Fantastic service! Very helpful. Chose to shop at Ace folsom because I thought they were conscientious of covid safety. I was wrong. Staff were lackadaiscal at wearing their masks and keeping their distance, one staff member had his mask down his face and went right up to my son's face to talk to him. There were 2 customers walking around with no masks, aisles were packed with people. When I complained to the staff at the checkout he said "well our workers are required to wear masks but we can't do anything about customers not wearing them." Really? I attempted to purchase a product from this Ace and they did not have it in stock. So I purchased it from an Ace out of the area and later learned that it was the wrong model. Unfortunately I had already disposed of the box, but had the receipt and never used the product. Folsom Ace refused to take it back and I had to drive two hours to return it to the other store. I'm on the hold at Leslie's pool supplies waiting for a quote on a pool filter cleaner, after Jen the clerk tell me she can help me if I am willing to wait for 3 minutes. I say sure. While waiting, I call the American River Ace Hardware store and ask Scott the same question. Scott says, "I don't know, may I place you on a brief hold to check the aisle real quick?" 15 seconds later he's back on the phone thanking me for waiting and tells me they have it, how much it costs, and how to use it. I am still on hold with Leslie's Pool Supplies after 30 minutes and have to call the store back to remind them of my first question. Which employee values me more as a customer, Scott or Jen? Which person would you rather have as your employee? Spoke to Scott as I am stopping by to thank him for the help this morning. So what is the difference between Ace and the big box stores? Simply stated this Ace is service. I needed some long narrow gauge wood screws. A Package of two at Home Depot was $1.50. At Ace with some very helpful sales professionals was 16 cents each or about a third of the price. I am not one of those people who says compromise service to get price or one who argues to support local businesses first. But in this case, at this store you can get great service and good prices. read more

Devon at the help desk was absolutely amazing! I came in looking for an adapter to hook a hose to the kitchen sink for fresh water for our carpet cleaning truckmount. My Wife and Mother-in-law went by today to recycle our old Christmas lights, not realizing that it is only during the holiday season and into January. The clerk acted like he had no idea what she was talking about. "We don't do that here," as opposed to, "I'm sorry Ma'am, we only do that during the holiday season." As my Mother-in-law goes to take them back to the car and my Wife and daughter stay in the store, the clerk and his associates proceed to comment on my Mother-in-law right in front of my Wife and 6 year old daughter. Rather than cause a scene, my Wife walked out. She refused to ever do business here again. First thing in the morning I will be calling to speak with the store manager about the disrespectful behavior found in his store. read more

On Saturday 2/9/19 came in shopping/looking at Traeger grills. I had visited 2 other stores looking at brands and prices. Danny was introduced to me by a coworker. Danny was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Traeger line, and this store has a very impressive display. Based on the info Danny gave me along with his customer service I pulled the trigger and bought one. The added bonus to his service, was the service from the store. Free assembly, initial burn, and delivery all included. 4 hrs later in a nice white box van my new grill arrived and I could not be happier. Another nice bonus is this store almost always cooks different meats on Saturday's on a Traeger grill for customers to sample. In my opinion it's a great idea, especially if someone is not sure on the taste from a pellet grill, or what the hype is all about. Because the hype is real! RIPPED OFF! ! BEWARE!! selling broken pump I bought wayne water transfer pump from this particular store at madison and greenback. After adjusting the price difference, after I went home and opened the box. It was dirty red clay and abviously worn out and a lot of missing parts. Probably broken. I returned to the store but they refused to exchange or refund for the item. I was so furious they didnt knowledge their fault and refuse the return. They just robbed me plain and simple. I tossed their broken pump in front of their store. Ridiculus return policy and bad customer service. The only good thing is my son (who just had broken arm ) got a 49 cent lolipop for free...but they robbed me for 79 buck plus tax. This will be my last time i ever want to do business with this Ace. To customers beware...make sure you open the box before purchasing anything from this store. They are selling broken stuff...unless you want to be stucked with broken junk. read more

I just want to say that Jordan is awesome. First, I should mention that I did not have a receipt since I lost it. I came in to the store with a purchase I made for my pool and I was switching my pool to saltwater so I didn't need the chlorine anymore. I told him I lost my receipt and he looked through his system to help find it in the database. He kept apologizing for the wait and I totally understood. Plus he was helping me out. Delivered it to me for free. Even hooked up the propane and gave me some tips on how to use it. You won't get that service shopping online. read more

This is a neighborhood hardware store. I will always come here first over HD or big blue. People greet you when you come in, and ask if you need help. Obviously, prices a little higher than the big boxes.... But you can't really put a price on getting what you are looking for the first time...and I love being able to buy screws and washers one at a time as needed...dont stop doing this! read more

The customer service is consistently excellent. This kind of care and enthusiasm is rare these days. Danny, the manager is awesome. He delivered our BBQ, set it up in our back yard, and even shared several of his favorite recipes. He even let us borrow a pipe wrench for a quick fix rather than having us waste money on a tool! On top of that, he gave us his cell number and encouraged us to call anytime for recipes, tips, or repairs on the BBQ. I've been using this store for over 10 years and they have helped me solve many problems. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. If one does not know the answer, they will help you to find another employee who can help. Unlike many (not all) of those who work at Home Depot and Lowe's, they don't act as if they are doing you a favor by assisting you. I read another review that gave the store (after 20 years of patronage) one star due to a problem with a return. Please bear in mind that a store is not required to accept a return. I've never had a problem with a return but, I also hold onto my receipts until I've finished my project. read more

I called the store and talked to Danny about a Weber grill ordered on-line for pick up at his store. Danny took complete ownership of the order including confirming the grill delivery, assembling the grill for me, and using the owner's pick-up to deliver the grill to my son's house. Amazing service...but there is more. I also tried to buy a Grill Gazebo on the Ace website. Danny tried to locate one in the area for me. The inventory system said there was 1. On his day off, Danny drove the Warehouse to try and find it. When unsuccessful, he went to other stores in the Folsom area to find one for me, which he did. He called me to let me know he found an identical product and verified the store's stock before he called me. This was the most extraordinary service I have ever had from a retail store. Ace Hardware saves the day again! I was in a bind and in need of some specific grade 8 and 10.9 bolts for a project I had. Due to my lack of proper planning I was in a pinch to find these and first stopped by another big box hardware store. That visit was fruitless. After recalling that other Ace locations had saved my butt previously, a quick search on Yelp.com (plug!) to locate my nearest Ace location I was off. Sure enough, I found a small-ish footprint store that, as always, came through. In addition, the staff was friendly and ensured I had found everything I was looking for. Pricing is fair, but I would have paid a bit more for the convenience of having this hardware local, instead of ordering off the 'net. Thanks again Ace! read more
