A couple of days ago I finally decided to make some time and get my tires replaced. Due to an earlier flat that couldn't be fixed I already had one new tire that had been replaced a couple of months ago so I was constrained to get the same type of tire for the remaining 3 wheels. As it turned out America's Tire Store was the only one that had them in stock. I made a booking on-line and landed up 15 minutes before my time slot as advised while making the booking. Upon reaching it felt like half the folks in Mountain View had turned up for a tire replacement as they were completely packed with a line literally out of the door. Under normal circumstances I would have turned around to come back another time but I thought hey I have an appointment and I'm here well in advance so I should be fine. BAD DECISION. The online appointment means nothing. It took almost 40 minutes before I was even attended to. I again thought about bailing but decided hey the major heavy lifting is done let's get the replacement done. ANOTHER BAD DECISION. Without exaggeration it was 3.5+ hours that I was hanging out there to get my tires replaced (I came after lunch around 2 and left around closing time which is 6 pm). I would do a disservice if I did not comment on the service. The person who helped me was pained to even walk to my car to do a customary visual inspection. He was like Dude you know the tires that you want do you really want me to walk over? Anyway after he brushed off a simple question he signed me in. Finally when I got the car with the new tires I found that they had misplaced 2 valve caps for my tires. Let me recap, you need around half a day to get tires replaced. Appointments are a waste of your time. Employees are jaded and waiting to get off work. Service is shoddy. No way, I'm coming back here. read more

I stopped by early this AM for tire purchase and installation. They were able to take me without an appointment and completed the entire process in around an hour. Every single person I dealt with was friendly and polite, from cashiers to technicians. While I waited for installation, I observed they similarly treated everyone very politely, addressing customers as "sir" or "ma'am," and greeting every customer who walked in the door, even if just to acknowledge them and ask for a bit of patience. This seems particularly worth recognizing, since I rarely see that high level of courtesy these days. On the negative side, the prices here aren't particularly noteworthy, but the manager is willing to price match so do your research. Also, I actually put an order in for tires over a month ago, but when I finally called to follow up they discovered the order never went through and no one called to let me know. I wasn't in a particular hurry and in fact switched to a different set of tires, so not a big deal in this case, but I could see that being quite frustrating if timing was more critical. But overall, I definitely liked interacting with the people here and would come back. read more

I went in to get tire rotation. I have come here many times to buy tires. In fact my whole family comes here to get their tires. I brought in my car that was 2017 expecting to get free tire rotation and balance but they said because I did not buy the tires there they would charge me. I did not buy tires there because I bought the car in 2017 and have not needed to change tires. It still has tires from Toyota. I did not want to argue so I paid despite being a loyal customer for a long time. I will say they have this COVID protocol that is very well done. You wait outside till someone comes to get you. You drive the car in so they don't touch the inside of your car ( safe for you, safe for them). Once done, you drive the car out of the shop. I wish they had just waved the fee for tire rotation since I have bought tires from them for all our cars ( parent's , wife, sister's) read more

20220210: I've been a regular customer at this America's Tire and have always had an excellent experience (5-star) until today. Last week I had booked an appointment online and selected tires that were in stock (4 in stock, and I needed only 2). I went in for my 8:00 am appointment and indicated front tires were quite worn and wanted them changed out. I leave it there and they would call/text when it was done. I get a call soon afterwards asking which tires I wanted changed. I reconfirmed what I said when I had arrived. Then I get some calls, and someone leaves a VM with a generic, please call me back. Some time afterwards, I get a text message that my car is ready for pick up and pick up keys at the cashier (I had paid up front). I arrive during my lunch break to pick up the car (was dropped off by my wife) and waited for someone to give me my keys. Then they tell me my car is not ready, tires were not in until 2 pm, and did I want to reschedule, or come back later to pick up. I was NOT happy. Communication = 1 star. Text message said it was ready. Voicemail said just call them. (text message was last in). What a waste of my time. They definitely need to do something about improving their communications protocol. The supervisor/manager said he would try to do something to offset the inconvenience and the miscommunication. He said they had told the guys in the shop to call me and leave a detailed message as to my options. But that didn't happen. As for why the tires were not in stock when the system said it was at the time I ordered and scheduled, they blamed it on the system sometimes not being up to date to what's in inventory and something relating to PO's. To be fair, I was here just a couple of weeks ago to change two front tires on my other car and had a great experience. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this place. I bought a set of 4 tires here a few months ago and had great customer service and the work was done well and quickly. Fast forward a few months, I found a screw lodged in one of my tires. I stopped by to find out how much the repair would be, only to discover that sealing and patching is free! I didn't even have an appointment and they told me the repair will be ready within 90 minutes. I'll definitely be buying tires from here in the future. read more

Finding a nail in your tire can really ruin your day. I was thinking that this would cost me a couple hundred dollars, lots of time and patience to get fixed. I'm so glad I took my car to America's Tire Store in Mountain View! Raul was my service advisor and he was super friendly, professional, and helpful! I got my tire fixed faster than the quoted time and the cost was unbeatable! I also asked if my other car needed new tires. The car dealership said the car needed new tires and quoted me $1000 to replace. When I asked America's Tire Store, they were honest to tell me that my tires can still go another 5,000 miles before replacing. I really appreciate their honesty. I was there for an air check. They have a free air station with a sign that says to wait for an employee to come help. We went inside and an employee told us someone will be with us in a moment. We were waiting for almost 25 minutes and no one came to help us. They have awful service. read more

They only balanced the front wheels and not the rear. Went in for a tire rotation and balance. Came as a walkin and waited about 1.5 hrs. No prob, until I went home and decided to look at the weights they added. Noticed there was only weights on the front set and not the rear set. Extremely rare that two out of four tires did not need weight to be balanced. Decided to go to a different shop the next day and have them check the balance on the rear wheels. Guess what... They need weights and the boys at Americas Tire just decided they didn't want to balance the rears. What the hell guys? Wasting our time! Go find a local shop as these chain tire shops just hire almost any who as a pulse and theyre lousy PS: Hector is almost as useless as they get. read more

I heard so many good reviews from everyone and thought to go here that they check the Flat tire for free. I am always skeptical of such free places but decided to go because of good reviews He removed the tire, checked and told me that he cannot put back this tire due to safety and I will have to replace it right away. On top of that he asked me to replace my other tires as well saying it would be extremely risky to drive with it and risk my life, and I had that mark on my tire since 2 years which he was showing me as a defect. It costs 250$ less if you get your 4 tires (same tire quality and company) replaced from Costco. Still wondering how these guys have such great reviews. I went to America's Tire in Mountain View for a new left front tire. It was a Saturday, and they were extremely busy - and it was late in the day when I go there, and they were closing as I picked up my car. I failed to check the tires in the lot, and started to drive home. As I was driving I noticed that my left tire continued to read low. I thought perhaps the sensor needed to be re-set - but - they had given me a new right tire instead of a new left tire. Okay, anyone can make a mistake - the question was what were they going to do about it? The old tire was gone, so first thing Monday morning they gave me a brand new (same make as the right tire) left tire. They were very nice, uncomplaining, and accepted full responsibility for the mistake. I was very positively impressed by their professionalism and quick fix for my issue. read more

The founder of America's Tire Service (ATS) / Discount Tire Direct (DTD) Bruce Halle is rolling over in his grave. Stopped by Friday afternoon. Had an appointment. Waited in my car in their outside check in area. Nobody came out. Incredibly loud and awful music blaring from the garage. Never saw that at an ATS before. Go inside to check in. Manager asks "can you come back another day." Not after a 75 mile drive I'm not. Told to go wait in the car. Fine. Again, that kind of treatment from an ATS is beyond comprehension. Eventually some guy comes out and gives me a bunch of static about doing a free tire rotation. Excuse me? Even though this is a new car to me and I didn't buy its tires from ATS -- I've still bought dozens of tires from ATS for over 20 years. I've NEVER been asked this before. Kid says it'll be 20 per wheel. I call BS. He backs off. Again, that's what made ATS and DTD what it is today -- complimentary balancing, rotation, and air pressure checks. What that kid did was inexcusable. Told the wait would be over an hour. About 15 minutes later someone comes out. We're up. Did the job quickly and so far, so good on the rebalance -- but this store does not operate on the principles set down by Bruce. He would be horrified by this. Sure, maybe some stuff happened to goof up their scheduling -- but the music? No way. The rebalance charge? No way. This looks like a store that needs a clean sweep in the management department. Ever since Bruce died in early 2018 I've noticed small slips in ATS / DTD's standards. Today they fell off a cliff. That's tragic. Their level of service was a joy to be a part of -- and this was just a pile of crap. read more

I came here to change a tire with a nail in it for a company car and they let me know that they do that service for free. I overheard people getting quotes for their tires and noticed that they have REALLY GREAT PRICES. A gentleman named Nick helped me out with getting a quote for my car. I have very little knowledge about vehicles so I told him what kind of car I have and he gave me quotes for multiple versions of my car. He was very knowledgeable, me not knowing much about cars and tires I had a lot of questions. He was very patient with me and wasn't trying to rush me out because they had a line. He gave me his own opinion on which tires I should get and which would have the longest life expectancy. He also wasn't just trying to get my money out of me and I feel like places like this do that ESPECIALLY when hardly know anything about cars. He has AWESOME customer service! read more

You probably know that these guys use scare tactics to sell you tires.. Their best customers are the ones that are emotional and get scared easily. Since they told me I need new tires, It's dangerous to drive on those tires, I have put 10K miles and believe I can go another 3k-4k miles. This is like a year of driving. I had a busted tire yesterday and I went in today to have it replaced. I had with me a certificate of replacement. I am very happy with the service which included free tire rotation. I was only charged $11! That's why I always patronize America's Tire because it has reasonable prices, very good service, and outstanding personnel to assist you. I called and ordered some times they didn't have in stock. They'd be in the next morning. I made an appointment for 12:00 I showed up at 11:45 and the cashier told me I didn't have an appointment. I made the appointment myself. I got them because they were $120.00 cheaper than a place that would've done it right away after their other charges I saved $10, but wasted 4 hours. I might have an extended warranty on these tires I don't know. It wasn't explained to me the cashier told me initially my wait was 1 hour 25 minutes I came back in an hour and a half. He told me it would be an hour more. 3:45 my truck had two new tires they don't wash the wheels of your new tires. I wouldn't put my customers through that. I don't appreciate someone wasting my time. It was only 4 hours. I could've used on something else! read more

did my homework to find a shop that has the right equipment and also can give a good price. I found America's Tires, they have a wheel balancer that road force balance the tire. So I brought my car to their shop. Told the service writer that I don't want a tire that has a road force variation more than 5 pound. I also told him that I want to see the readings in the balancing machine. read more

I'm ok waiting, especially for free rotations and balancing. However, give me a realistic estimate not something that sounds good. My car was supposed to take an hour and a half. I came back in an hour and a half. Car has not moved. I asked for an update and was told 45 minutes. They called me over an hour later. I asked why it took so long and he told me they tried calling me and I didn't answer. I had no missed calls nor voice messages. I heard numerous other people complaining of similar issues, some even had appointments. Considering I wasted half my day waiting around for my car, I would almost be willing to pay somebody for a service I can get for free. That is an exaggeration, however I do feel my expectations were not set properly and because of that, I am very dissatisfied with this location and the company as a whole. There are other places that offer the same services when you purchase tires from them. I will likely purchase my next set of tires somewhere else. read more

There's nothing like getting a flat tire when you're in the height of being super sick. I did my fair share of research of local tire businesses to try to find the one with the most competitive prices and the most convenient service, and I made the right choice going with America's tires. The two men I spoke with on the phone were accommodating with my appointment. Then when the AAA truck was thirty minutes late, they kept me calm by reassuring me they'd take care of me even if I showed up right before the shop closes at 6pm, late for my appointment. Upon arrival, the paperwork took five minutes. They gave me warranty options but weren't pushy about it and were empathetic to my financial limitations. All the guys were really nice, upbeat, and respectful! All four tires were well placed and my car was ready to go 45 minutes later. The bays they work in are open-air and fully visible to clients, which gave me confidence in their work ethic and competence. What a relief to have that done so painlessly. Before leaving, I was reminded to come back in about 5,000 miles for a complimentary tire rotation, to promote the longevity of the tires. Stellar service and caring communication! read more

I've been here several times over the past two years ( our family has three cars) and whether it's new tires or fixing a slow leak, the service has always been great and the pricing is fair. This is the only place I'll go for new tires for all of our cars. I love America's Tire! 03/11/18: came back here yesterday for four run flats for my daughter's car. Always a great experience here. I brought both my cars here for tire purchases and free lifetime rotations. Honest customer service and they never try to up-sell - their number one priority is the customers safety. My brother and his fam drove up from so-cal. He noticed that the 4Runner was shaking at higher speeds. He brought the car to them on a Saturday morning and they rebalanced the affected tire and put the advised tire pressure on all four at an exceptional time. Highly recommend this place! read more

On Wednesday 10/17/18, I called this location because I had a leak in my tire that needed to be repaired. They said bring it in, no appointment was needed. I dropped it off on my lunch at about 12pm. Jonathan is the gentleman who helped me. They told me they would call me and let me know about the tire once they started working on it. At 3pm, I still had not heard anything, so I called the store and spoke to a gentleman named Nick. I asked what the status was of my car, he told me the tire was repaired and that my car way ready. I asked Nick if it was just a flat repair. He said "yes" and then hung up on me. I arrived after work around 4:50pm. Jonathan help me out again, handing me my keys and completing the transaction. I walked out to my car and saw that the tire pressure light was on. I used my tire pressure gauge that i had and discovered the tire was still at 15 PSI. I went back in and let them know that my light was still on and the the tire was still at 15 PSI. Jonathan asked me to pull to the air pressure check area. Come to find out, it was document on the work order that the puncture was in the shoulder of the tire, but the work had not been completed the almost 5 hours it was there and Nick, the gentlemen I spoke to when I called, stated he "attempted" to call me but was unsuccessful. I then showed the employee my call log showing I had no missed call. So after leaving my car there for 5 hours, I still had to wait until almost 6pm for my car to be done. This experience was beyond frustrating and unacceptable. I was given my keys back with assurance that the work was completed. If I would have not verified that my tire was ok, I would have driven off with an almost flat tire. This was my first time coming to America's Tire and I probably wont again based on this experience. Side note - I submitted a complaint on their website to be given a generic response that the manager would be contacting me. Of course the manager never reached out. This is kind of overdue review as I have been visiting this store for almost 3 years in a row and their services have already been nothing but superb. Let me recap some of their services here. 1. I had at one time noticed my Sienna van was always a little bit turning to one side if my hands were off the steering wheel. It was not a big deal and I never paid much attention. I went to America's Tire for a tire change and casually asked the staff if they do wheel alignment service as I suspected that was the problem. The staff listened to me and then went out to take a look at the van. To my surprise, they said my two tires in the front were slightly different and one of them was mounted with a slightly wrong tire last time I was in America's Tire. And he went ahead replaced both of my tires and charged only one tire price because it was their mistake to put the slightly wrong tire in the first place. And after the replacement, everything was great! I am amazed by their honesty and professionlism. Instead of hiding their mistake and even charge my unnessary service, they admitted their mistake and work hard to resolve the problem with customer in mind. 2. My wife's BMW got a flat tire. I called BMW Mountain view service only to get really cold response. BMW won't cover for the tire, really hard to make an appointment, wouldn't and was not able to give any suggestion on how I should get the vihecle to their store. I thought of America's Tire just next door and decided to give them a call. First they suggest me to drive slowly to a nearby gas station and fill up the flat, and then drive to their store for them to take a look. This was great advice! And after one hour, they pulled out the nail and fix the flat and all with no charge at all! 3. I sometimes get tire pressure warning on my car and always went directly to their air pressure check station. The staff was always friendly and suggested me do routing check on my tire pressure as different tire leaks air at different rate. A lot of useful knowledge and very friendly staff. As a student, I used to shop around for lowest price for tire, now I can really afford something and won't hesitate to go to America's Tire (not saying they are expensive at all) because they totally get my trust! read more

I have had a leaky tire for months. I finally went in to have it "patched up." Jeramie Duncan took care of me. I was astounded at his good nature, intelligence and sense of humor. I was resigned to paying for the leaky tire, but their policy of fixing for free flats on tires that had been bought at America's Tire caught me off guard, in a great way. When I've had a flat, the first place that has occurred to me to go to has been America's Tire. You can be sure that this association is even stronger now. I went in yesterday to get my front tires replaced and they told me they'd have to order the tires and that I'd have to make an appointment for tomorrow because they missed the purchasing window by 10 minutes for the tires to arrive the same day. Fine. Made the appointment for 9:15 AM today (I asked for 8 but they said the tires wouldn't arrive until 9). I got there five minutes early today, and stood in a line for 10 minutes to be helped, and then the rep told me the tires actually arrived yesterday afternoon and they didn't even call me to tell me... if I had taken the car in yesterday, I wouldn't have had to take the whole morning off from work. Strike one. Then I was told it'd be ready in 45 minutes, so I walked around for 45 minutes and came back, the car still wasn't ready and after I waited 10 minutes in the waiting area inside, they came and asked me for my wheel lock. So basically, they literally didn't do anything until I showed them where I keep the wheel lock. Strike two. They promised the car would be ready in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, they gave me my car keys and walked away without telling me what they even did. I had to run after the guy to ask him to tell me if he rotated the tires or what they even did. I admittedly don't know much about cars and it felt like they assumed that because I'm a woman and they figured I wouldn't ask any questions. Emphatic strike three. I finally drove away, nearly 2 hours after I came in. Why did I even make an appointment? I thought that would guarantee quick service.. I chose America's Tire because I had a GREAT experience at the Redwood City branch. I walked in, no appointment, they walked me through the process, and I was in and out in 20 minutes. I'm not saying bad service is an overall trend here (though I can't imagine it's not, judging by all the arguing that was going on between reps and customers while I was in the office), but in my experience this place sucks and I'll be avoiding it in the future. read more

Time to update to my previous rave review. I've been to America's Tire twice more now to purchase tires - once for my cars, and more recently for my wife's car. Prices are very competitive, service is friendly, and it's perhaps the most painless tire changeout ever. Here's the method: First, make an appointment for a slot during the lunch hour (gets you in faster after arrival); then show up on time; drop off your car; walk across the street to In-N-Out; eat lunch for 20 minutes; walk back, and your car will be waiting for you with shiny new tires. Pretty painless. Minus 1 star for the slightly aggressive sales tactics to sell me on road hazard insurance (their real moneymaker) and a set of sexy new rims (on a 6 year old minivan?
