To say that the customer service and meter readers are infantile is an insult to infants, but that's all I can say and be civil. For 6 weeks I've been attempting to get a straight reading of our meter as the person they sent out initially made such a colossal misread as to charge us 5 times what our normal gas usage was for a single month. Every single customer care person I spoke to said they would fix the issue.... I can't imagine that these people are driving cars to work as they are so inept that they shouldn't be allowed to do anything but sweep parking lots of abandoned malls. Idiots.... read more

Awful!! Called when tank was at 30%, just like it says to do on their website. It's been 10 days now and my tank is at 8%, but they had no problem taking out the almost $400 as soon as I called the first time. Have a feeling I will be calling the emergency service very soon. Absolute worst customer service. Took 2 weeks to get someone to my home I just bought during the summer for an initial set up. Was told so many different things, they went ahead and scheduled without telling me then told me I wasn't home when I needed to be. I told them I didn't schedule that, they did it without me. Was told they would be here at 10:30 today and the tech didn't get here until 11:30-11:45. Lit my fireplace which now isn't working and refuse to come out and look at it, and pretty much told me "oh well" about my other heater because it wouldn't turn on right away for him. Have gone through so many different customer service people and get a different answer every time. It's like they don't record anything or communicate. We've been calling them non stop since 2/3. They say someone will get back to you. But no one calls back, then we call again and they say the same thing. We ran out of gas on 2/6 and they still don't give a damn. Today is 2/10, It has been below zero degrees here in the northeast but whoever answers the phone probably lives in a very warm place to not give a damn! No shower, no cooking, no HEAT, no dryer. Their website says they are open and only after driving 30 minutes to get there do you find out they couldn't be bothered to update their website. I would LOVEEE some answers. For context here is a history of our bills since November 2021: 11/09/21 $615.94 for 318.2 gallons $2.129/gal 12/10/21 $323.65 for 137.9 gallons $2.209/gal 01/25/22 $229.99 for a true quality and assurance check of the tank 02/05/22 $715.97 for 331.6 gallons$2.159/gal 04/20/22 $535.86 for 200 gallons $2.579/gal After the December delivery I called because there was NO WAY we needed a refilled tank a month later(it is used for heat and our stove only). I expressed concerns about a leaky tank or rusted out tank and was told there was a QA check done upon the first delivery. I pushed back for 6 weeks until you finally sent someone to do a QA check in January. I agreed to pay the $230 fee if the tank was ok. The technician said it was faulty and needed replacement (still charged the fee of $230). No one called and told me or reached out to schedule the replacement. I called 2 weeks later to see what the next steps were and was told to call in Spring to schedule the tank swap. I called in April for the tank swap and was told because there was fuel in it you couldn't swap it and to call when some fuel was used. Turns out that is a lie. I did an online chat in the beginning of September and scheduled a tank replacement for 09/19/22 @ 230pm. At 2:36pm on 09/19/22 I received a text message saying that our replacement was completed. This was odd because I was home working and my office over looks our dead end road and there was not a single AmeriGas truck in sight - let alone some type of hauler truck with a new tank. I was told the technician said our gate was locked & that he tried calling. Fun fact - our gate is broken and cannot lock.. so clearly he never tried. Also, there is no missed call on my phone records from Verizon. This representative told me someone would call the next day to reschedule (they didn't). SO I called to AGAIN 4 days later and asked for a supervisor, not available. Said they'd call back, want to guess what they DID NOT DO? So here I am again today calling because my tank needs to be replaced and I want partial compensation for the $2450 I paid (including a late fee despite being on a payment plan). 1st call - Andrea hung up on me. 2nd call - Andrea, the representative that previously hung up on me told there are no supervisors available. I'll wait. Andrea then comes back on the phone and says the supervisor is busy and then there will be a 1 hour meeting for them and asks if I am still interested in waiting, fuck yea I am. She forgets to mute me and hear her snarky comments. 5 minutes later I get Jay "the supervisor". He has NO answers for me. He continues to put me on hold and tell me he needs to ask every other department under the sun about delivery, and refund, you name it he had no answer for it. Can we get this rectified or do I need to continue with my Attorney General complaints as well as the on going conversations with the State Representative...? read more

I wish I could give this company negative stars. Nothing but a headache when it comes to deliveries, billing and scheduling service. The only reason we had a leak on our property resolved was because the local field service tech gave us his personal number- for that I am very grateful. Honestly though, he shouldn't have to do that. You can't connect with a local person and have to go through a call center where they drop your calls or say a supervisor will call you (they never do). Have been on the prepay program with Amerigas for several years. No, problems until we ran out of propane on Saturday. I guess there is no system in place to handle this type of a situation. Made several attempts to contact a "live" customer service representative...no luck. The best I could do was to write an email through their web site. They stated that they were sorry but could not do anything until Monday. On Monday I called and they sated that they would try to arrange delivery within 24 hours? What? We have been without a stove and partial heat for 48 hours now you are telling me you could possibly make the delivery by the next day. Decided to drive to the local AmeriGas outlet to talk to someone in person. No, luck, doors locked. They no longer allow walk in customers. All contact is done through email I guess all the real people have been abducted and we are left to deal with the machines. Well, the machines suck. I have ran out of propane twice. And I understand we need to check our own tanks but if you are on a keep full list? Your tanks should be full. If you go out and check the tanks any they are almost empty.. And you call a location and say hey my tanks are almost empty and its -1 outside and they tell you they'll have someone come fill your tanks at some point that day it should be done. I got home from work 12 hours after I called and no one came and filled our tanks. To top it off, I called the emergency service because if the tanks are this low in this weather? That's not ok. The driver told me that I cannot get propane until my tanks are completely empty because this is the emergency service and I should have called earlier. The local Amerigas in Londonderry has changed their phone service. You are now not able to speak with the area office, it goes to a central customer service center. The hold time is 30 plus minutes. My propane was down to fumes, I told them this when ordering. After still no propane within the delivery window I called again, they said they would send an expedited message to the local Amerigas. That did nothing. I placed the order on Oct 4th and I am supposed to be getting the delivery today Oct 20. Horrible Customer service! When this tank is empty I am switching companies. read more

We stopped using propane at a house in NH a while back and paid rent on the tank for a year while we were with Energy North Propane. AmeriGas took them over and they eventually notified us they would be taking the tank away, so that was fine. Next thing we know, months later, they are charging us for the tank again. We spoke to them in October and they agreed the bill was wrong and would be fixed. Someone had started squatting in the house during the spring or summer and must have asked for propane under their name - we told AmeriGas that and that nobody should be in the house, much less getting a propane hookup, but next thing you know we start getting a tank rental bill again and for months we weren't able to get through to anybody, hours spent on hold with no way to get through (calling the local office 603 number) and now collection agency is involved for something somebody else did. Crappy customer service and crappy record keeping, at least somewhere between the local office (who doesn't answer and throws your "on Hold" call away at 5pm) and Corporate... Update: I finally got thru via choosing the "open a new account" route (Option 1) on the National 800 number; John picked up, I told him I had a billing problem and he immediately forwarded me to the billing department. Sara(h) picked up maybe 5 minutes later and she was quite helpful, looking everything up, confirming that the bill was actually zeroed out a few days ago (months later!) and promising to send a confirming email to us that everything is zeroed out, the account will be closed and she's requesting a final account closing notification be sent to us by mail. I just read my tank level. It went from 35% to 24% in 3 days. The website tells me I should have enough for 3 days? Hmm. Maybe that's correct but I made sure to place an order for 250 gallons. It appears this company has now introduced a new plan that gives you three options 1. to pay an emergency fee of $200 for expedited 1 day delivery and another fee for a leak check of $150 2. Expedited 3 day delivery for a a mere $200 or 3. Standard delivery with no charge and a 6 day window. I'm sickened that they would choose to implement such a program during this time at such extraordinary cost. They should be investigated by the NH Attorney General - John M. Formella. We have a lot of folks hurting economically and this just totally takes advantage of them watching every dollar. Heating is a necessity. I get it that they maybe encouraging people to order ahead but those that can't afford it shouldn't penalized. Have some decency and compassion. We're not talking about a discretionary purchase. Terrible customer service; they give you a delivery window of 14 days and "always show up on the last day (why bother with the window). I was hoping service would get better after AmeriGas bought Energy North Propane. My current experience: My online account is locked stating I need to schedule an in home safety review, even though I've been a customer and they have already filled my tank this past spring (which they own). There is no way to even schedule that visit through the website. The Live Chat link on their website does not work. The online contact us help email gets kicked back as an invalid address. I've tried to call multiple times and get wait times of 1-2+ hours. Terrible experience. read more

I have had nothing but issues with this company since my husband passed away on November 6, 2021. The account was under his name and he had a contract of auto delivery with a price lock/pre-pay for an entire year which was still in effect. In February I nearly ran out of propane and when I called they promised a delivery with 24 hours but did not deliver. I called again the they said in 24 hrs and it was 48 hrs and I was down to 18% on my tanks, thank God I have 2. The delivery person caused damage to my home and told me to go down to the office to speak to a Barry, but when I went down the office was closed and referred me to a customer service number. I called and entered a complaint under the his account to have it fixed and since they were changing the account over my name, they closed his account with NO ACTION on the complaint. When I called back in again to inquire on the complaint they had to reopen under my new account. The account was tranferred to my name and I was assured that the contract would transfer with the prepay amount, but then I received a check made out to my husband and the manufacturing park that we live in. The bank could not cash the check. I called on how to correct and was instructed to send in an email with a copy of the check attached, again no response. I also received a bill from them on my account for 99.50 with no explanation as to the charge. I have never in my life dealt with a company with such poor customer service. I am not one to write a review such as this but this company needs to wake up. I wouldn't have given them any stars but you cannot enter the review unless you mark your rating. Even though I'm on "automatic delivery", I continually have to call them to schedule delivery before my tank runs out. When I do call them, they can never give me an actual delivery date but assure me that it should only take a "few days" when, in fact, it's taken closer to two weeks every time. At the end of my contract term, I will be moving to another provider...even if I have to dig their tank up myself. read more

Called AmeriGas Propane corporate and they put me in touch with the local, Londonderry, NH location., I spoke to someone on not one or two but three occasions and she was not at all interested in assisting me or following up. She was fairly adept at cutting me off mid-sentence. She came across as being an impatient and inexperienced customer service representative. After listening to her make excuses about being very busy and not being able to get someone out to my location for almost a month I decided that this was not a company I wanted to do business with. Stay away from Amerigas at all costs!!!! We moved into Hudson NH in August of 2011 and without warning our propane tank was refilled by Amerigas, who had serviced the previous customer. Funny, the previous customer had notified Amerigas of the property sale. We then had to round and round with them in getting the price down 60 cents a gallon (competitors price) as they didn't want to come out and pump out the fuel. Huh, you delivered fuel improperly without authorization and want us to pay for removal? NO. Then they tried to charge us for a second botched delivery attempt - their trunk didn't have enough propane to fill the cylinder over the winter. On top of trying to NOT honor the lower price. To add insult to injury, they wanted to charge us for their pre-buy program. Really?!?! And they have some of the highest propane rates around. Shop around, there are much better options out there. We went with Haffners who has been courteous, prompt, and readily available during normal business hours. And they are 80 cents a gallon less expensive than Amerigas. read more

Do NOT use America's! They are total crooks. The customer service is horrible. I called on 1/8/21 with 18% for propane delivery. I was told 10-14 days for delivery (the longest has always been 6 days). I called on 1/12/21 with 10% propane left in my tank as I was starting to get concerned. They just said yes you are scheduled for a delivery for 10-14 days. So you think they would rush this nooooo they just noted the file. Now on 1/14/21 with 5% and 3 phone calls I was forced to pay a $300 expedited fee to have delivery the next day. 1/15/21 at 12:30p no one arrived so I began calling. Cust Rep sent me to "the resolution center". These people don't do anything either except put notes in your file but they can see the delivery schedules. I was given a refund on the $300 by 7:30p on 1/15/21 for that expedited service not working but I now have no gas. I was told their are 10 delivery routes for the following day. 1/16/21 Saturday - 8 phone calls later - I call in the morning get a cust rep have to get transferred to the resolution center who rudely tells me that they see my delivery coming on 1/17/21 Sunday. They do not ever have a Supervisor call to help you! They don't care if you don't have heat. They will screw you with expedited fees that don't actually work. Oh and they changed delivery from 7-10 days at 20% to 10-14 days @ 30-35% in your tank BUT DON'T TELL YOU about the policy change. They are the worst service for gas I've ever had! read more

And I will THIRD the previous review. This office is TERRIBLE. The "customer service" in this office is a joke. I'm horrified by the way I've been treated over the past year, and that the same woman with multiple complaints is still employed. I have gone without heat and hot water on 3 occasions (I have a toddler and a puppy in my house, thanks so much for the special care) now because someone "forgot to put the ticket in." Beyond that, all the people in the office play the blame game -- the mistake is everyone else's fault but their own. Ultimately it's my fault for staying with such a poor excuse for a company. This office of Amerigas is absolutely terrible to deal with, so much so that I question the ethics of the people that work there. We bought a house with an Amerigas owned underground tank already installed on the property. We were not supplied with any documentation or even notice that we would not own the tank that was buried on our property, Amerigas was just listed as the "propane supplier" on the sales documents. We struggled to set up an account - during which we were asked to sign documents declaring terms and conditions for using an above ground tank owned by Amerigas. When asked they said not to worry about what we were signing and that the form "is just to get your information". We crossed out all the sections of the document that didn't apply before signing it. We were charged $4.65 per gallon for the first fill, vs the NH average of $3.50 for that week (public information). After that display I asked them to show some kind of proof that they owned the tank. I was told "we don't keep track of the tanks we own, if you get propane from us then we own your tank". When pressed further they told me that it was in the terms and conditions we signed and sent back that same document without the signatures on it (because the signed copy had most sections crossed out). Over the course of the winter they reliably filled our tank 3+ weeks after we called (after 2+ follow up calls each time and repeated promises that they would deliver "by the end of the week"). They also reliably charged us 10 to 50 cents per gal over the state average, and a different price (sometimes by a little, sometimes by a lot) from what they quoted. In the spring I began to inquire about buying the tank off them. Over the course of the next 4 months I called 7 times (and showed up at the office once), and every single time was told that the manager was out but the message would be passed on and he would call me back. Finally I demanded the managers direct contact info, and was finally able to get a bill for the tank. Amerigas is "one" of the most expensive propane companies out there. I had them for eight years and would always try to negociate the price to no avail. They are retail! Now here's the answer for all heating propane needs. Our Town Energy Alliance in Barnstead NH. It's $25/yr and a Coop. I am paying $2.10/gallon this year 2013-2014. I used to have to prebuy $2000+ upfront with Amerigas but not so with Eastern. Pay by the delivery. Eastern is family owned and not a public co so costs are lower. Gotta keep those stockholders happy at Amerigas. Eastern is an awesome company and has excellent service. Have used them now for 8 years. Have had to have service for installation of a small Vermont Castings propane heating stove in the living room-installed gas line, vent liner, and fired her up. Awesome service. read more

Since the other reviews really bagged Amerigas, thought that I would provide another perspective. First although not everyone in the Londonderry office is deserving of a gold star, we have found some of the CRs (customer reps) to be very helpful. Last year the software that calculates if you need gas was set up improperly so we would have to call to get a delivery. Also our association has a negotiated "deal" price and it took awhile to get that settled this summer. Our CR, Maxine, has been very helpful getting through all the problems including a terrible corporate billing system which is finally being replaced this month (Dec 2014). Their current prices are reasonable and delivery is now reliable and we have a CR who helps through the rough patches. Two years ago they were one star at best so there has been improvement. read more

Amerigas bought out the company I had been doing business with for years. They seemed very expensive so while it's warm I decided to take a closer Iook at the budget plan renewal. They charge an annual budget fee, also a tank rental fee. I called another local supplier and found the propane $.60 less per gallon on budget and $.70 less on prepay. I use propane for heat/HW/dryer which comes to over 700 gallons a year - so this adds up. And there are no other fees at the local place. Sign me up! I called Amerigas to stop the auto delivery, auto pay, and budget plan. They have now charged me $150 as a termination fee. No doubt this is to preempt any attempt to receive credit for the propane in the tank - which I have already paid for. Alas - buyer beware. Shop around. read more

Stay away from this company at all cost. There customer service is the worst we have ever dealt with. We own a 3 family home all with 3 separate meters (a bulk tank). They make numbers up, each family is paying a different cost for the propane, even though it is one delivery and one tank. All apartments are 3 rooms, one tenant received a bill for over $900 in December, the other tenant revived a bill for $100 and the third received a bill for $400. As the owners of this building we've been dealing with customer (no) service for weeks as been our tenants, they all tell us it is what it is. One agent couldn't even tell us the last time they read the meters. We went through the same thing a year ago and it took 2 months and lots of calls on our part to correct the problem, it's like these people don't even know what they are talking about, they clearly don't understand what we are saying. read more

I am about to run out of propane, have had a delivery scheduled for over a week. Called today on the last day of my estimated time frame and was told that my delivery was happening today... well delivery did not happen and the office is closed. My only option now I have been told by the emergebcy call center is to wait and run out then call back and have an emergency delivery done where I must pay $300 upfront. Now if I was told today that it wasn't happening I would have scheduled AND payed for an emergency delivery durin business hours. So mad will definitely be changing companies after this... read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH!!! RUN FROM THESE CROOKS. Purchased a home and part of the purchase included the propane left in the tanks. Went to set up an account which went through corporate. I was told there would be a safety inspection, a maintenance program, and service. When I was transferred to the Londonderry office they wanted to to immediately come out and fill the tanks. I asked about the safety inspection and was told they didn't do that. Told the Londonderry office they contradicted everything I was told through corporate. I told the receptionist we were not getting anywhere and have her manager call me which they never did. I decided to call another company and told AmeriGas they can pick up their tanks and I want credit for the remaining fuel. They said would credit the previous owner of the house. I told them I would show my bill of sale of the property which includes the fuel and they refused to accept that. Would not issue me credit for fuel I own!!! Very rude in the Londonderry office - would talk over me! Watch out they tack on delivery fees, tank fees and couldn't answer me if they had service plans, and worst of all they won't issue a credit. I am running the tanks dry and their competitor is taking good care of me until they swap the tanks out. Even their competitor never heard of a company doing that after someone purchases a home. I bought my tank from them, and everything went down hill from there. They refused to deliver the gas and then send a bill. I have 2 other properties, and the other vendors have no problem doing this, as I pay my bills as I get them. They called recently about scheduling a fill, and I got the same song and dance on billing. I asked to have someone in management call me to discuss, and never got a call back. I am done with them, and got the one of the other vendors I use to fill it up and send me a bill. Stay as far away from them as you can. read more

Worse customer service I've experienced in a very long time. One would think Amerigas wants new customers, but I'm here to say they don't. I needed new service in a residence, the tech came out to evaluate, said he was going right back to the office and I should expect a proposal and contract very soon. I called the office the next day looking for it and they had no information, said they'd have to talk to the tech. After waiting five days I called Dead River.
