First, I'd like to say that I didn't bowl. Swollen foot wouldn't allow it. Secondly, I went with a small group from my church along with other friends and family of our sponsor. It was my first time in a bowling alley but I must say watching everyone else bowl and looking like they're having a great time was quite refreshing. The server for our group was very good attending to our group. Two thumbs up for her being wonderful while handling the soft drinks and other staff members bringing out the food. I got to admit the food was pretty good. Pizzas were nice and hot and tasty, the chicken tenders crunchy and delicious, the breadsticks spot on, the atmosphere was electric. I had a wonderful experience with AMF Indian River Lanes. Went with a few friends to have some bowling fun last week! We had a wonderful time. Lanes were good, food was good, and customer service was awesome! Four of us just needed some relaxation time. So we met up at AMF. Had to wait about 10 mins to get us signed up for a lane, get shoes, get balls. Once at our lanes, within moments, we had our server come by and ask if they could get us anything. We ordered food and drinks. Food was tasty, drinks were cold! We loved those chicken wings and flatbread pizza! As for the bowling part, we did have fun, even if the scores did not reach our expectations. We had big dreams, but little skill to achieve them. Bowling: We came here in a Thursday night. The lanes were full but after a short wait we got a lane. The staff were really nice and polite. The place was clean and it was easy to find a ball with the proper finger fit and weight. We also had some alcoholic beverages and food. Drinks: We tried two different signature cocktails on the menu. They were terrible way too much mix and barely any alcohol. They both tasted like sour capri sun juice boxes. We asked the bar tender to swap them out because we couldn't drink them. The staff were polite and allowed us to swap out our drinks. Then we had a mixed cocktail of sprite and vodka because they don't have ginger beer to make mules. These drinks were much better. Food: We ordered the Pepperoni Flat Bread which was delicious for a bowling alley. We also ordered loaded fries, sweet chili boneless wings, and mozzarella bites. They all tasted like the fryer oil was way past due to be changed so we couldn't get past that bad oil taste. I would stay away from any fryer foods and stick to their pizza/flat breads. I honestly don't even know where to start because this place failed so spectacularly at everything it offers. The arcade is a straight up joke. Every machine advertises tickets, yet not a single one actually dispenses tickets. None. Zero. So you're basically just throwing money into broken machines and hoping for the best. If the ticket system is down, shut the machines off. Leaving them running is either lazy, deceptive, or both. The bowling lanes were next, and wow clearly no one here believes in lane maintenance. The lanes felt like they hadn't been waxed since the last decade. Bowling shouldn't feel like a random luck based carnival game where skill means absolutely nothing. This is a bowling alley lane upkeep is literally your entire job. Now let's talk about the nachos, because they deserve their own paragraph. I have never, in my life, been served food that looked this bad. The nachos literally looked like poop. Not exaggerating. Not being dramatic. Just straight up poop on a plate. I couldn't even attempt to eat them because the sight alone was enough to turn my stomach. The fact that someone prepared this, looked at it, and still sent it out is honestly alarming. Broken arcade games, neglected bowling lanes, and food that looks like a biohazard this place somehow manages to fail at every single thing it advertises. I went to this AMF the other day with my father, mother, and girlfriend. Everything on the bowling side? Wonderful. No issues at all, bowled one of my best games, lane conditions were good, But I went here the other day and I won't lie I was a bit peckish. When I went to order at the counter I was told to wait for my server. So I said okay I will. My server had come over before I talked to her and said can I get you anything. I said let me ask my girlfriend if she wants anything first. I'm one to go by your word and I'm def not gonna beg for you to take my money. So I only asked one more time for my server and I never got one. Couldn't even celebrate my 219 game with a drink. Now with all that being said. I've come to this location plenty. The vibe is usually crazy nice, I usually don't have any issues, and I'm always happy afterwards, but there are some days they just ain't got it so watch out for that. read more

I don't know why there are few stars for this business but I had a great time. I had purchased a Groupon for this business the day before and it was my first time there. I guess I didn't have huge expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. As we walked in we saw that it wasn't as overcrowded as the bowling alley we have frequented the most. Customer service was courteous and we got checked in fairly quickly. The food was not overpriced, the place was clean and the staff was very polite and checked up on us often. The only drawback I saw was that the arcade was not very big. Also, the inside and outside of the building could be updated. But overall we had a great time and would recommend. read more

Second time here for a work gathering. They are a great place for such occasions and it a pretty convenient location for those who live in the surrounding 757 areas. The employees are kind, especially the older women (can't think of her name), they are always up for conversations and easy to flag down when help needed. The alley itself isn't that up to date, but it gets the job done. The bathrooms weren't up to date either, but at least they were clean! We ordered the platter (nachos, wings, fries, quesadillas, mozzarella sticks), which is supposed to served 12-15, but it was more like a snack...a pricey snack of $75. For that amount and price, I honestly don't think it was worth it. Our cheese sticks were an old batch and literally had no cheese in them at all. We had to ask for an entirely new batch that came out looking fresh! The food was good, so I would suggest ordering your own food tbh. The fries are limp and not crispy at all. The pizza was okay. They also have a lot of great deals throughout the week, it's just a matter of getting there on a weekday to enjoy it. read more

I had the worst experience here. For starters, it was $30 per person to bowl. Ordering food/drinks is an actual nightmare. The older woman server was clearly very overwhelmed and busy, as she had a lot of people to take care of, but that doesn't excuse the constant snark and attitude that was given to us. She got upset with us for asking for water, and said they don't give water out past 8 pm, but if you want water, you have to pay $3 for a bottled water. Our food and drinks took over an hour to come out. They have two sizes for the alcohol, and the server intentionally upsold us by lying, and saying the 22 oz was the smallest size they had, although that was $5 more than the regular size. It was dirty, extremely loud, bowling balls stuck in gutters, no extra balls, etc etc. I will never visit AMF again. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience. The server was inattentive, never checked on us, and seemed uninterested in providing good service. Our food took forever to arrive, and when it did, it was cold. Our drinks also took an hour to arrive. I was not impressed with this AMF location. This place definitely needs to be updated. The best price that they can offer you is $15 all you can bowl, which isn't bad. What is bad is the fact that a 6 year old would have to pay the same amount, $15. As our friend stated upon entering "Smells like the 70s" about sums up the place. This is my first experience at this bowling alley but I can say with full confidence that I will not be returning to this location. The outside of the building as well certain aspects of the Interior clearly need to be updated, but the lanes themselves are pretty well kept. At no point in time did we have to contact anyone to get a stuck ball or deal with a lane malfunction. The reason why I gave two stars is because of the customer service... It is very clear that there is a lack of management. I have never been to a business where I have been told so many times "I can't help you with that." There were at least five occasions where an employee said they couldn't assist me but made no effort to find someone that could. Ordering a drink alone took about 10 minutes of waiting. I wasn't waiting because there were so many customers, I was waiting because there wasn't a single employee that took the initiative to find someone to help. This is a nice place for our family past time. On our recent visit we has tons of fun however the food was trash! Nothing we ordered tasted good. I use to love there wings at this place. The wings I ordered came to the table burnt and to hard to eat. The cheese on the nachos was cold thick and gooey. Tried to send them back however our games ended before they could get it right we just left and didn't bother waiting for new food. And it wasn't too busy so what was the issue I don't know. Zero stars! Absolute horrible. I get that they are busy and short staffed. But when someone has 20 people on one lane that are not bowling but just hanging out, the staff needs to regulate how they all hang out and block the lane next to them for the other bowlers. We couldn't even sit down at a table and we were paying for bowling! Also, it's insane how you can't even order a pretzel that is already cooked at the snack stand and ready to be served - but you have to wait for your waitress to take your order - who is already overwhelmed with the 20 people next to you who are not bowling. This was my first time bowling at this location--we wanted to go bowling with a couple friends and it was the closet location to where we were at the time...so here we went! We arrived a little before six, and it was glow bowl! Cool--I love the neon lights and good music. Bowling was standard and we had fun. However, the location of the bowling balls are a little inconvenient; they are all on one end. Most places have racks of balls spread out. Food/service left a lot to be desired. Took a long time for someone to visit our table to order food. We went to the counter 3 times to try and order food or get someone to come over, and someone finally did after 20 mins. We ordered cocktails, fries, and a quesadilla. The food was just meh. I know bowling alley food isn't gourmet, but I typically look forward to it in its own greasy category, but wasn't too impressed with it at this place. Our friends had some garlic parm fries that were really tasty tho. Cleanliness: the alley itself was pretty clean, but the bathrooms were gross. Decided to just skip that and go elsewhere after I left. Would we be back? Maybe, depending on the specials going on. Not my favorite alley, but conveniently located. read more

Once at AMF IR , everyone was friendly, courteous and didn't mind all my "how do I "questions. I hadn't been bowling in several years (a long time) and needed a walk -through. Meh... it's kinda dingy. Everything looks super dated , from the machine to put your name in to the carpet and the food. My group ended up just standing the whole time cause the tables are so inconveniently placed near the lane. We had an issue with one of the pins being stuck and subsequently messing up our scores but the employees were just like "um it should be ok, just leave it." Oookay. Thanks. Two games with shoe rentals for two cost a little over $20. A damn Gatorade was $5! I would stick to the Lynnhaven lanes as they are cleaner and more spacious. read more

We came here last night for a get together with our children.. the bad really outweighed the good. I rarely write 1 star reviews but this location needs to get it together. They did not have enough attendants on the floor to retrieve stuck balls from when children played. That's how most of our time was spent- waiting for someone to get the ball after being called. They had someone in the lanes further down where adults were playing but none close to our lanes. One worker Rikita? stood and watched us instead of helping get the ball. Eventually we started getting the balls ourselves because it was taking 10+ minutes to get someone over to retrieve it, she had a huge attitude about it. Instead of offering to get the ball or to get someone she said she would have us kicked out if we went for the ball again. So we spent 10-15 minutes after that just WAITING each time the child bowled. That was a hassle. The service for food was not good. We had to hunt and fetch the server each and every time we needed something- she did not check on us at all. She came up and asked three separate times what my order was again because she kept forgetting. The food itself was okay- typical cheap fare. I got wings and I probably wouldn't get them again. The breading was not good but the buffalo sauce was alright. The fries were decent- prices were high for what you received. The bar had the best service- bartender was extremely friendly, personable and professional. Drinks were made quickly and tasted great. We had a sick child incident and want to say that the person who helped us, Thomas, was AMAZING. He was super friendly and insisted on cleaning it. We got up as much as we could. He was able to clean everything up in minutes.. after that he came back twice to check and make sure the child was feeling better. Many thank yous to Thomas- we really appreciated your kindness in that situation and that evening. Overall, not a great night. It's not the most advanced alley in the area, either. We may give it another go to see if maybe we just had a fluke night but I cringe when I think of coming back. Worst experience!!! Really bad customer service !!! My bowling lane pins continued to get stuck and it took forever before someone came to fix it. They end up changing our lanes just for him to explain to us (the customer) how to go in and fix it ourselves!! Why should we have to waste time doing that when we are paying customers ?? It didn't help that there is a waiter who was supposed to come to us and take our order but she didn't even show up until 15 minutes later ( Ajee F). Half way through the game!! Not only did she have a attitude and a unwelcoming energy , but when we told her our NEW lane started messing up with the pins and the score she completely blew us off and continued doing what she was doing before . We went here after the other AMF lanes were filled up with leagues. We sat and waited for a lane despite the fact that several were sitting open. Staff seemed in capable of cleaning off tables and reluctant to do their job. While waiting, I ordered a large basket of chicken wings from the bar. The food was not prepared during the hour and 15 minutes that I was at the bowling alley. We bowled a game and sat around talking while waiting for this food -- which never came. I waited at the bar for 20 minutes to speak to a manager. I asked for my money back and the manager told me he would charge it back to my card. Later I found out I was charged twice for food which I did not receive. I will never be back to this bowling alley. The rude manager I dealt with was named Brian. They owe me $35. read more

The service is pretty great. My friends and I come here almost every Thursday to bowl and the lanes are also smooth and well maintained. My biggest complaint is that on college night (Thursdays), the place will be pretty crowded up until 9 o clock due to the league which makes it harder to get lanes for parties that are as big as mine (9 or more people). Hopefully they can change their college night to a less busy night so that we can get some lanes quickly and have more fun! read more

Do not go here! My debit card info was compromised and used at two different ATMs to withdraw over 600$ out of my account! Card was cancelled and i should be getting reimbursed but it is probably the shadiest bowling alley ive ever been to. Keep in mind they didnt actually take my card, so the bartender there took all the info they "needed" to get away with the crime. Will definitely be getting the authorities involved. read more
