We recently celebrated our dad's 90th birthday at Raintree Bar & Grill, and everything was truly wonderful. What to do on a cold Saturday afternoon in February? How about lunch, ice cold beer, and some good music? Some friends were performing so we decided to check out the Raintree Bar & Grill. We both ordered sandwiches. I got the Nashville hot chicken and my husband ordered a reuben. The chicken was juicy with a nice crispy coating though the hot sauce was a bit of a disappointment, not quite as hot as I expected. The menu said it included cole slaw but mine came with pickled onions. Tasted good though not what I expected. The fries were cooked perfectly. Beers were great. I order a hay burner which is an ipa from Big Ditch Brewing. Music was naturally was as expected, excellent. The place was packed. Service was outstanding! Our server (Jolie or Jolene?) Went to the Raintree to have lunch and to listen to the great music of Jack Civilleto and April Mazzone. The music and food were great. I had a Reuben with fries. One of the things I judge Reubens on is if the bread is served soggy because of a big mistake made by many restaurants, putting the wet sauerkraut on the botton slice of bread. Fortunately Raintree does not do that which made their Reuben not soggy. They have a variety of draft and bottled beer. You have a choice to get drafts in pints or 22 oz. glasses. The shredded corned beef, the caraway seeds, and creaminess... yum! The jager schnitzel entree was HUGE and topped with bacon, onions, mushrooms, and gravy. Delicious! Took half home! It was chicken finger Tuesday! Chicken fingers for a buck! Nice...so we get 6 fingers and a antipasto! Fingers came with sauce and bleu cheese on the side! Antipasto was not good at all! It was a bed of dark green lettuce endive maybe and a pile of onions, next to a pile of meat, next to a pile of olives etc! 2 sides of Italian dressing! I bit into the fingers and hot water came pouring out! I can't complain for a buck right? But, I was quite disappointed! Up until last Tuesday I have never heard of the Raintree Bar & Grill and never even knew it existed, but thanks to Buffalo's Restaurant Week I stumbled upon a menu and headed here for some dinner. This isn't my typical kind of place as it pretty much looks like a local town bar form both the inside and out, I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful service and food that came along with it. The special included a soup, an entree, and a dessert for $20.19 and it was a steal. My soup was a pasta e fagioli and it was made very well. The soup had good flavour and overall tasted very, very good. I ended up picking the country fried pork chop's which was served with mashed potaoes and I definitely got more then what I expected with them. The white gravy with mushrooms that covered the top of the pork chop was absolutely amazing and worked some magic on me. The meat itself was kind of hidden behind the deliciousness of the gravy and that's A-OK in my books. The mashed potatoes which were also covered in the gravy were also super delicious as well. For dessert, I chose the Brownie egg roll which was certainly a strange combination. Since I was super full, I actually saved this for the next day but did enjoy it for what it was. The brownie itself was tasty and even though the egg roll was a weird combo with the brownie, the ice cream on the side made up for it and ended up being great. Overall, I enjoyed my expedience at Raintree Bar & Restaurant and even though it wasn't my usual type of place, I enjoyed both the service and the food and that's really all a man can ask for. This is the place to be on Saturday afternoon, from 2-5. They have live blues bands and no cover charge. Our favorite Saturday afternoon band is 12 Pack Jack, because they have an awesome sound and play lots of solid tunes. The beer is cold and there are plenty to choose from. We had wings today and the danger sauce is very flavorful and not painfully hot. The subs and pizza are always great. Anna was our server, and she is very friendly and efficient. The crowd is older and many love to dance and have fun. There is an outdoor patio as well for nice weather, and lots of parking. If you join the birthday club, you get a free entree on your birthday. I've been here two or three times, previously it was just for appetizers and beer at the bar. Last night was for a sit down dinner. It was delicious. Did the restaurant week special. Started with the rueban soup. Sounded different and it was awesome. Then had the linguini parm with sausage. It was a large portion and very tasty. Took half home for later. Finished with a Mississippi mud pie which was also delicious. Didn't take a long look at the rest of the menu but it looked to have a lot of variety and good prices. We came here thanks to restaurant week! The deal here was a soup or salad, entree and dessert for $20.19. Great deal! I got a Cesar salad for my first course. Pretty basic salad, came on a chilled plate, all in all good. For my entree I went with the short rib Shepard's pie. First of all this meal was huge, definitely got leftovers from this. Secondly, the flavor was pretty good! I enjoyed it quite a bit, especially the fact it was covered in cheese. For dessert I got the brownie egg roll. Basically what this is is deep fried brownie batter with ice cream on the side. Yeah you read that right, fried brownie deliciousness. So as you can imagine that in itself was worth the trip here. We visited the Raintree Bar & Grill this past Sunday (11/7/21) evening. There were a few bar patrons and maybe one other table of people dining. So, it wasn't busy whatsoever. My husband ordered a mixed bourbon-maple drink, instead he was brought an apple-y type of Moscow mule. It wasn't what he ordered and he alerted our server to this. My husband never got the correct drink. Our dinners all came out at different times, so when my grilled salmon & goat cheese salad arrived I waited to try it since not everyone had their plates yet. My MIL ordered a grilled romaine salad with added grilled salmon. When MIL got her salad, the salmon was missing. She alerted our server, who informed the kitchen. A few minutes later they brought her the missing salmon; she cut into it and it was raw on the inside. The server was alerted to this, and she took the salmon away to be cooked through. At this point, I lost my appetite and I opted to not eat my salmon salad. When my FIL got the bill, we noticed that we were charged for everything as-is. No discount for the incorrect drink, nothing taken off for the missing/raw salmon. And one last issue was when I used the ladies room before we left. I entered the restroom and saw our server fluffing her hair before exiting the restroom. When I had walked in, I heard a toilet still in the process of flushing. While I can't say for certain that she didn't wash her hands, I don't see how she could have since the toilet was still in the process of flushing as she was walking out of the restroom. Don't pepper me with insults when I tell you that they pepper everything. Well, season a few things too much. Arrived to meet friends who ordered an appetizer sampler which was on a round pizza pan. All standard frozen supply food, the same mozzarella sticks I get in bulk at the a grocer, onion rings, wings, pizza logs and potato skins. My wife got the wife whiskey BBQ pork tenderloin, Mac and Cheese & red potatoes with a French onion soup starter. She enjoyed the soup and Mac and Cheese. The pork tenderloins whiskey BBQ sauce was smell was so over powering, I could smell it more than my own food. They were also over seasoned as were the potatoes. Lots of cracked black pepper. I got a BBQ Chicken finger wrap, the BBQ sauce was too heavy, unremarkable but too sweet flavor. The bacon in it added a strange texture while chewing and the chicken seemed of low grade ultra processed quality. Almost no cheese on it, if any. I got fries on the side, over peppered and not fresh cut (although our friend got sweet potato fries which seemed to be fresh cut with skin, why not also fresh cut the regular fries?). Another buddy got a BBQ burger, had the same thought as me, BBQ sauce was not awful but not good. Overall, very meh. Almost gave 3 stars but we won't be back for a meal. Some large, tall man opened the patio door and it's not even 50 degrees outside and super windy. We had a tornado warning. So weird. My wife enjoyed the alcoholic beverage she ordered but that was about the only highlight...not a bad building but parking lot needs to be repaved too. My husband picked up take out from here. I've never actually been here so I can't comment on the atmosphere. My husband had a fish fry and the seared ahi tuna starter. He said the fish fry was the best one he's had in years. He's really big on beer battered. He said the tartar sauce was up to his standards as well. It came in a really sturdy box which I thought was cool. As for the ahi tuna, it was completely cooked through and not "seared" as described. I understand that some places have to cook it through either due to the quality of the fish or the quality of the chef; this is apparently one of places. If you like your tuna raw (or "seared"), don't bother with it here. I had the turkey pretzel sandwich. It was decent; nothing too special about it. The french fries were very well seasoned. The pickle that came with it was super fresh! I hate it when places gives you old, slimy, weak pickles. You can really judge a place by their pickles. I also had a half side of mac and cheese. Stopped in at 9:00 pm Saturday to see a band a friend recommended (The Knight Crew). The band was great and a lot of fun... and the only highlight of the visit. Stopped at the hostess stand where it said 'Please wait to be seated'. We waited 5 straight minutes, with no one acknowledging our existence. Went to the bar, where we were told to seat ourselves. Found a table without difficulty, plenty of tables open. But even though we saw a server visit other tables, no one ever came to ours. After waiting 20 minutes, went back to the bar to order drinks. (I assume the kitchen was closed? I really don't know, since we had zero service. Too bad, as we definitely could've eaten ) For the next 3 hours, I just went to the bar to get drinks. The bar was not busy, and the bartenders were attentive, and friendly, and had honest pours. But... on our second round of drinks, I asked for clean/new glasses (when the bartender attempted to make the next round in the glasses I bussed from my table, and other tables, because no one else was doing it). Both 'fresh' glasses were visibly stained with lipstick. And then, on the third round of drinks, the bartender took my money, went to the register, made change, and then gave the change to someone else! Someone 8 feet away down the bar! (Not anywhere close to me, in appearance or location) The stranger simply pocketed the change, taking my money, as well as the bartender's tip. I can't be too hard on my star rating of this place, because they don't advertise themselves as being much more than they really are. Regardless I'm disappointed in the direction the restaurants food quality has gone, mac and cheese overly sauced with what essentially is a roux lacking in any real cheesiness, very small Salmon portions that taste like freezer burn, brussel sprouts not properly trimmed and cleaned and even overly salted mashed potatoes. My buddies and I come here occasionally to get wings and have a few beers, or to watch a game. I usually find a pretty good beer selection here when we come in, which is always a pleasure. The food is always great too. They make a fine chicken wing (my favorite is the hot garlic), burger, or sandwich. Last time I was in I had a steak sandwich with banana peppers, i forget the name but it was fantastic. One complaint I have about watching a game here is that if you're not directly at the bar, it feels like every TV is a mile away from you and if you're any where in the dinner/seated section there is a half wall that cuts off your view of the bar. read more
