I took my two dogs in to get their vaccines updated and let the front desk know as soon as I arrived what they needed. After waiting for over an hour and a half, I was called back to the desk and asked again what I was coming in for, even though I had already explained it when I checked in. That's when they told me they had run out of the Bordetella vaccine. It's very frustrating that this wasn't communicated sooner, especially after such a long wait. It feels unprofessional to have clients wait that long only to be told a required vaccine isn't available. I would not recommend this location. Very cold atmosphere. Almost like an assembly line of pet "care". I will never bring any of my animals there again! Upon entering, the parking lot alone is weird. I don't speak Spanish but was immediately spoken to in Spanish. It has an atmosphere of chaos! The vet techs are cold and un friendly. The cat room is pathetic and just non-warming. I had a great experience at first and they saved my oldest baby's life, when I came to them for a second opinion. Since the first vet told me to put her down after 5minute evaluation since she's quite old. I like how they are affordable since I do have 3 babies. However, I would not recommend this place for procedures nor surgery. Even though, they were amazing for my oldest baby. My second experience when my kitten needed to get her tail removed was not so great. It actually complicated the situation even more. I wasn't given clear instructions regarding recovery and nor the meds were helping with her infection . I had a very disappointing experience at this clinic about 9 months ago. After leaving an honest review about the unprofessionalism I encountered during my visit, staff member Grecia Perez took it upon herself to look up my social media and verbally disrespect me. When I addressed the issue, she denied her actions and went as far as to call me "delusional" and say it was "insane" that I knew her name--even though her coworkers told me who she was. This type of behavior is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable, especially in a setting where clients should feel respected and supported. While the clinic may seem cost-effective, the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy makes it not worth it. There are many other veterinary clinics that will treat both you and your pets with dignity and respect, which is what every paying client deserves. read more

I took my dog for her 3 year rabies shot. I gave the tech her previous rabies certificate that indicated she was in time for her 3 year rabies vaccine. The tech then administered the one year vaccination. If you look up rabies vaccines. 1 vs 3 years, it states it's the same vaccine. They deny that. The carelessness of the tech requires me to get the 3 year vaccine in one year causing my dog to receive more harmful medication. I will not ever be returning to Amigos Vet again. I've been going for abt a full year now for my dogs flea medication and recently I got a new 3 month medication for him on March 31 and gave it to him the same day. It's now April 20th and he's still getting so many fleas on him staying on him just by taking him to the park, didn't offer me a refund, and insisted that if the flea medication isn't working it was because I had an infestation? This is my American Bully's go to vet. They see her with no issues, which isn't always the case at other clinics. Some places we've gone are too scared to see a bully which is sad lol. It's a family owned shop, usually pretty busy but you can schedule an appointment if needed. $20 visit fee is nice. They can complete your pet's check up and if any medication is needed, it's sold here in the office. They do not write out prescriptions. They do a great job with diagnosing as well which is always appreciated. My babygirl has very sensitive skin so they've always been helpful. Check them out for all primary needs. read more

I wanted to like this place as a nice low cost option, but my friend's almost 12yr old dog needed to be euthanized. She was refusing to eat/drink or move for days. They wanted to treat her for dehydration after running labs. My friend called me and I told her no to it all because we had most of it at home but to get the prescription for the fluids. They wouldn't because it was a shot. I asked her to get a print out of their recommendations. They made her wait and hand wrote it. I sent the labs to my friend with a rescue who forwarded to a vet. The vet called to say end stage kidney failure. We made an appointment at another vet and took the labs where they gently helped her cross the rainbow bridge after confirming kidney failure. The Amigos Clinic doctor was going to prolong a dying dogs suffering for more money. I'm absolutely disgusted. I can't imagine how many poor people they are taking advantage of. They didn't have euthanasia as an option and after reviewing the labs, she was barely dehydrated. The numbers were almost normal while her kidney ones were not. I'm sure they didn't expect my friend to have someone with knowledge or access to another vet, but they really tried to take advantage of the wrong person. There is no response they can make to right this situation. There is no misinterpreting these events. This is probably why they wouldn't give her a print out of their recommendations. read more

Took our new puppy here for his initial check up after getting him from a family. We noticed something terrible wasn't right with him.. we seriously thought we were gonna have to put him down after he had several seizures. But the vet really knew her stuff. She prescribed him some meds and vitamins and in a few days he was up and running like a puppy should! I was really satisfied and the decent prices make it a win for me. Have always liked these guys until yesterday when my cat had an emergency and they told me they had to put her down because she was dying. This was a terrible experience as anyone can imagine but what made it worse is that not one person working there had the common curtesy to acknowledge my grief or even say i am sorry. I have heard all these stories from other friends who have gone through this about how sympathetic the vet staff is about the process and how they were allowed to be there with the pet ,etc., and how even the vet had shed tears, but not with me yesterday. It was business as usual. The only concern the front desk had was getting my bill to me. The girl on the left a larger size girl was especially indifferent. All of them had seen me earlier that same day when I went to book an appointment for the same cat. One would think they would have just a tinge of sympathy. I give 5 stars to the other client that was sitting there when I arrived. He was sensitive to the situation and was very quick to express his condolences. Look I get it they are used to putting pets to sleep but to be so stoic and cold is beyond me. Of course I am grieving so it hits me rather deep.I have also heard where the vet wraps the animal in a blanket to send home- not here, I got an old box. It was just devastating and all of this matters so much when you lose an animal you love so much. You just expect the people taking care of them to love animals too. They ask about blood work beforehand I said no. Well, when I came to pick her up they said she showed a false pregnancy, so they do blood work or they lied about it. She had just had a litter 8 weeks earlier. But they brought out my girl's uterus in a zip-loc bag to extort another $78.out of me for their bogus claim. I paid for it. I just wanted my dog. If I could give a zero I would. He's the gist- I think this place is out to sperate pet owners from their money by using the love of their pets against them. The more dire diagnosis they give you the more likely you will reach into your pockets. They will NOT provide you a prescription as you HAVE to purchase any and all drugs from them. The comment the tech made about "My dog not making it" just confirmed my hypothesis. I've owned animals for well over 30 years and in all of my vet interactions I have never had one this bad. I took my dog in because of a sudden onset of visible disorientation, darting eyes and lack of balance. I'm thinking vestibular disease. Talk to the tech about his history, vet comes in spends about 5 minutes looking at the dog superficially and claims he has had a stroke. Not that he didn't, but no mention of any of the vestibular diseases. At this point red flags are firing off at this point, because no discussion was even had about potential problems, alternative courses of action or Q&A. Anyway, they moved on to wanting to do a heart worm test I'm sure it's standard procedure, but in no way is it going to make my dog more comfortable and that's what I'm after. Apparently, the thin-skinned tech didn't appreciate me questioning the science and told me "I needed to calm down" and she "didn't appreciate my tone". Mine you I was civil; I didn't raise my voice or being unreasonable. If anything, I had a smirk on my face when I told her I felt like this was a bit "janky". I told her I'd like to just pay my visit fee as she continues to vetsplain me why I needed to do the heartworm test and why the Vet so quickly came to the stroke diagnosis. At this point I just leave and make my way back to the front all while she was still mouthing off. I wasn't even paying attention at that point. I made it around the counter as she is explaining, I assumed, that I was leaving only to hear the end statement that " t make sure that notate that I refused treatment, in case anything happens to the dog, because he is probably not going to make it". I do give them 2 stars because yes, they are affordable and the staff is nice; however, they can be deceptive about pricing. Be sure to ask them what you cost is up front (even though I did as well and was still misinformed) because they can accept your dog for a weight based service and weigh the dog first.. then dog is recieved for the shot and the price is given and if you dont agree You are forced to pay the 20$ fee. No transparency upfront whatsoever... if they had told me the price of the shot while the dog was being weighed before seeing the vet i would have declined. But this place let you Go back with your puppy which made me feel at ease. The end result was telling me to go to a specialist and then handing me a $300 bill. There were signs posted that people in the waiting room were limited to one person per pet and that people should social distance, yet none of this was enforced and the very tiny waiting room was crowded with two and three people per pet. Altogether a terrible experience. I would not suggest going there if your pet has an actual problem or illness. I called this low cost pet clinic located in Pasadena Texas and inquired about them seeing my dog that had an abscess. The office visit to see the vet was more then reasonable and was then quoted prices for treatment and medication which we accepted. After the technician walked out of the room she came back and said they had made a mistake on the quantity of antibiotics needed and the vet said that 20 tablets of amoxicillin 500 mg would be $50.00 . At the time I was only concerned and thinking about my fur babies. Soon after leaving and studying the bill I realized that a thirty day supply of the same medication is on most pharmacy $4.00 list and called Walmart to see how much it would cost for 20 capsules of amoxicillin 500mg and was told $5.99 fyi Walmart fills prescriptions for dogs . I would definitely recommend that you look into a vet that also offers written prescription or call in service as Opposed to be only to take from amigos pet clinic pharmacy with a 10x mark up!
