Out of college, my first job was at a laser hair removal company. I worked there for 2 years and ironically, they have locations here in Texas. I did not go with them (American Laser Skincare formerly known as American Laser Centers) because I did not like the way the business was run (by a bunch of coke head owners which I later found out after I quit) and they treated their employees terrible. By deciding to FINALLY do laser hair removal treatments, I wanted to do a little bit of research. I found Amore Laser and then I actually found a Group On! I was super pumped. I had no problem making an appointment and they did not question the Group On at all. In fact, they were excited to hear that I learned about their company through Yelp AND Group On. I met with a consultant and we discussed everything about laser hair removal. The consultation was quick because after working for one for 2 years, I already knew all of the information there was to know. I just had my 3rd treatment done on my bikini line and I can already start to see results! I am kicking myself for not having this done earlier. I will be very honest though and say laser hair removal is NOT for the faint of heart. The first and second treatments were not that bad, but the 3rd one (they used the Yag laser which I do not recommend......) I wanted to punch someone in the face! It hurt like a *#&%*#&%#. So, I've always wanted laser hair removal and one day while perusing the groupon site I came across a great deal for Amore. I figured I'd give them a shot and see how effective the treatments were. They are a quaint little joint located right next to Shipley's Donuts on Anderson. The front office and waiting area is very small. Even so, I had a very pleasant experience. After filling out paperwork I was taken back by Lisa. She was very informative and really nice. Mindy later came and gave me my first treatment. The laser feels like a hot rubber band snap. Not too bad. I jumped every time. Not really due to pain, just more of a reaction. One down, five more to go. Due to my skin type/color, I may need even more. We shall see. Mindy was careful to explain my procedure and she showed me a very nice option for sunblock with a foundation base. And although I liked the sunblock I just couldn't afford $51 a bottle. So, I'll have to hunt around for something that is effective for protecting my skin. They were very kind and I had no troubles setting up my next appt. Did not work well and poor customer service. The first technician I had was not good. When after 6 treatments, I was not satisfied, I went to the owner. She wasn't nice, and blamed me for the lack of results. She said that if I wanted my entire bikini line done, I needed to have paid for an upgrade. Funny, they didn't mention that when I forked over the $160 initially. In the past, I had 3 laser treatments done on the bikini line area and the results lasted 10 years. If you want good customer service and good results, do not go here. read more

I went in yesterday for my 1st laser spider vein treatment, after baby my legs were looking like a roadmap... My tech was Mindy & she was awesome! Nice, informative & she did a great job. My legs already look 100% better. I am not a groupon customer, I bought a package of three 30 minute sessions for $199. I will need at least 3 treatments for my legs to look the way I would like them. I will say it wasn't the most pain free experience I have ever had, it was actually really uncomfortable to lay there for a 1/2 hour & get zapped but in the end it was totally worth it. I had several sessions of laser hair removal at Amore. The environment is clean, nice, and relaxing, but I have to echo other reviews about the somewhat lack of privacy: the partition walls between chambers is about 6" short of the ceiling, so conversation in one room can be heard in another room unless one REALLY keeps one's voice down to a whisper. Given the... delicate, nature of some procedures, complete privacy would make clients more at ease. This is the reason for my four stars rating, which would have bee five stars otherwise. I used to go to Simplicity and they burned my face, leaving me with a permanent scar! I went to Amore and the difference is night and day! Simplicity would give me a stress ball to hold due to the pain. I hardly feel the treatment when I go to Amore. I see Svetlana and she does an amazing job. She also gave me post procedure care steps which I NEVER got from Simplicity. I'm African-American and have very dark skin so I was worried about results. I'm currently getting laser treatments on my bikini line and after the first treatment the hair never grew back. I still have a few more visits but I'm so pleased with my results. No more ingrown hairs to deal with. I highly recommend them. read more

I have had 12+ treatments on my face and my issue with hair on my face has actually gotten worse! I've been coming to Amore for over a year now and have completed some treatments already, and am undergoing new areas currently. Everyone there has always been very friendly, helpful and detailed about what to expect. Some treatment areas have taken longer to see results than others but that was explained to me in advance, and I feel like the staff are always very clear on expectations, pain, side effects, etc. The treatment rooms are always clean, and the techs are reliably able to answer questions. Overall, I feel like I've received a good deal for the price I've paid, and plan on continuing treatments here. read more

I was looking forward to getting my laser treatments here. First of all no one ever answers the phone. It takes over the month to book a treatment? I've been to way better spas with the same laser where you wait that long so this procedure. I had an issue with my Groupon. I sent the receptionist confirmation of my payment. They still wanted me to pay for my treatment. I've never been to spa where I had such an issue with Groupon or they gave the customer such an issue. Such terrible customer service. I rather spend more money and go somewhere else and get way better customer service. read more

I just had my first laser hair removal session and I have to say I am really happy I decided to go with Amore laser! They have been very professional and have made me feel extremely comfortable. They have been really busy so it took about 4-5 weeks after my initial consultation to be seen but it was all worth the wait! I was able to book out my appointments in advance so I decided to book 2 months out so that I could save the dates I wanted. The way they book is really nice. They don't over book and your taken back right away. The process was very quick, painless and thorough. I just really hope laser works for me! They have the yag candela laser, which they said is the best for my skin tone. I've heard that from a few places that I was checking out so I guess I'll just have to wait and see. read more

Several years ago before I had my baby, this was my go to place for various treatments, but it was completely different staff. I will never spend another dime in this place. I am so SO disappointed with the quality of service here. I have paid over $432 for promised results that apparently don't occur from the treatments I was having. The staff is unorganized, unprofessional, and tells you incorrect information. I bought a Groupon for a chemical peel. When I scheduled the peel the receptionist told me to continue using my Salicylic acid face products as usual. When I came in the peel could not be performed because I had been using products with Salicylic acid. I had to reschedule for over a month later. A month later I came in and had my chemical peel done (Groupon price $49). I have acne and was looking for a procedure to help clear up my skin. The woman who performed my peel told me to buy a package of 2 Chemical Peels and 2 Microderm Abrasions (price $299). I also purchased multiple skin products, being told that these would also help clear up my skin (price $84). Every time I came in I was told that I had 1 less procedure than I paid for. Their bookkeeping is unorganized- no one corrected the rescheduled appointment in their book so they kept trying to charge me for a procedure that I didn't have. I have seen no visible results, even though I have basically been promised them multiple times by the woman who performed my treatments and sold me the skincare products. Today when I called to schedule my next session the woman I spoke to (someone different than in the past) told me that the treatments I was using would not clear up my acne. According to her there is no reason someone would have scheduled me with these procedures if I was trying to get rid of acne. Furthermore, no refunds are offered on any of the procedures. So essentially, I paid over $432 for promised results that apparently would never occur. I find it completely unprofessional that the woman I went to basically lied to me by telling me my acne would clear up through these procedures. This place will take you on a run for your money. I did the Groupon over a year ago and the upper lip skin has "tanned" permanently from their lasers. It is not too noticeable with makeup on but it was one of the possible side effects they warned of. I thought it would eventually go away. A year later and having overly tan skin on my upper lip is NOT what I wanted. To be fair I was warned it was a potential side effect. I wish I would have never tried laser on my chin and upper lip. After all the treatments (six) I saw exactly ONE hair fall out. And now I have permanently tan skin on my upper lip - drawing attention to the area I wanted to minimize. Very expensive for a treatment that did not work and again PERMANENTLY changed my skin color. Please do your research before you get laser hair removal. read more

I found this place through Groupon and as I wanted to get a third and last treatment for dark spots on my skin I scheduled an appointment here. When I came in they had apparently put the wrong type of treatment down and I had to come back another day a couple of weeks later to get my treatment done. The description for it seemed like it would be a photofacial and was a spot treatment instead and was frankly not as effective as the IPLs I've had before. Because of their mistake in the initial booking they gave me a complimentary visit, but considering that the treatment I had seemed like it had no effect really I don't feel like going back. The staff seemed nice and they were apologetic, and the place was clean, but I would rather pay higher prices for something more effective elsewhere. read more

I'm in my 10th month of a 12 month unlimited package. There are various package options which all cover different body parts for an unlimited number of times. This enables you to customize the best package for you. I have had an extremely positive experience. Over the 10 months I have seen high turnover among the technicians, but it feels as if they've all received the same training and from a customer experience, the service levels have been consistent. Everyone has been very polite & friendly. The rooms are clean, they are always on schedule and the appointments are efficient. Despite being a regular, they remind me about the rules before & after every appointment to ensure I won't damage my skin (no working out or hot showers within x hours, no sun exposure within x days, etc). I have not had a single problem. I appreciate the reminders because it is easy to forget, particularly because something may be more relevant in summer vs winter. Tips: Schedule your next appointment before leaving the office after each appointment. They are very busy & it's hard to get them on the phone sometimes. Think about when you are starting a treatment & how much sun that body part will get during that time of year. For example, I'm in a bathing suit most of the summer so I found it difficult not to have any sun exposure on my bikini line for 2 weeks (underarms however were no problem). FOLLOW their instructions! Every person's body has different sensitive zones. Be sure to communicate where are yours before every appointment. With so many clients, they don't remember, where the laser is more painful for me. Before each appointment I'd point out my sensitive areas (eg, outside of my upper leg is extremely sensitive). This helped them alter their service (eg, slowed down in that area or would reduce the intensity) to improve my experience. I had my brazilian area and upper lip done at Amore Laser and have seen fantastic results after the 6 sessions. I always get the appointment time I request, and if I show up 10 minutes early, they see me early! The technicians are very sweet women and you make you feel extremely comfortable (given the areas they are zapping!). The office is extremely clean. I couldn't recommend Amore Laser more to anyone interested in laser hair removal to visit this company! My one teeny, tiny complaint is the tipping. I do not think it is appropriate to have tip envelopes. Pay the staff more instead of asking for tips! read more

Had a small area ( under arms ) treated and after the 1st treatment, I noticed a big difference in the amount of hair. After a 2 more treatments, I was totally impressed with the little baby left! I'm in my second treatment of the laser hair removal and I'm starting to see a difference. Since I'm a guy my hair is more thick than a women so I am seeing my changes slowly but it is definitely working. Its also to me, very painless. I have 9 tattoos and get waxed regularly so this is a piece of cake compared to those. Definitely loving this and would like to do more in the future...Oh and great with prices. I'm appalled at the folks on here griping about tipping beauty professionals!! Here are some facts from someone in the industry: People in the beauty industry DEPEND on tips! IF a person is LUCKY ENOUGH to receive an hourly wage, most places in Austin pay around $9 an hour OR LESS!!!! The majority get a small percentage of the cost of the service they perform. Most start around 20%. Keep in mind they aren't typically doing a service every hour! PEOPLE if you can afford an expensive treatment like laser hair removal, you can afford a 20% tip!!! read more

She also told me that the owner would honor or match the price of any other laser hair removal places offering a Groupon or Living Social Deal.
