First time trying Amore Pasta & Pizza in The Colony, and we were pleasantly surprised! From the moment our food came out, you could tell it was classic comfort Italian done right. For our meals, my husband ordered the veal parmesan with spaghetti, and I had the veal parmesan with ziti--both were tender, flavorful, and generously portioned with a rich, savory sauce. The veal was cooked perfectly and paired well with the pasta. Our daughter had the fettuccini alfredo, which was creamy, smooth, and kid-approved (always a win!). For appetizers, we shared the stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread--both were delicious and a great way to start the meal. The stuffed mushrooms were especially flavorful. We've been dining at Amore for 12 years, and our son has grown up enjoying meals there. While there's a new owner, we found the experience refreshing--the menu remains the same, with a few new additions. The classic recipes we love are still intact, and now you can order wine, which I appreciate. The selection was excellent. The portion sizes are still generous, and the food is just as delicious as ever. Service has always been great, and the new owner was very pleasant--we enjoyed meeting him. Our visit was fantastic, and we'll continue to return. If you haven't tried Amore yet, we highly recommend it! They've also added some new desserts, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. However, one of the things I love most about this restaurant is its small-town feel. You get to know the staff, and there's never an hour-long wait for a table. They even offer a private party room and catering services. There are few if any places that will leave me speechless and on the opposite side if I complain it's really bad. With that being said this place is one of the best Italian places I've been. The owner greeted us while he sat us and explained everything on the menu. Was really personable and enjoyable. Food was phenomenal. Said that everything was made in house from scratch. My wife and I's only regret was that we ate so much at dinner we didn't have any room left for dessert. Would have gladly tried any of the several desserts on offer. Well we've been going to Amores for years and my favorite dish was their baked lasagna. We went back today for the first time in about 3 years and they changed the sauce. It was once a savory sauce. Today it was a bright red sweet and tangy sauce making it not near as good as it once was. The house salad dressing is still amazing and I highly recommend their olive oil and garlic dip. I'm torn on this place. Very simple title spot. I can't say anyone is super nice or that anyone was not friendly. Bread is amazing, the garlic sauce is pretty good as well. Fresh salads and a vinaigrette that I actually like. I just don't think the food is all that good. The lasagna was the worst I've ever had. It didn't even have ricotta, just some minced meat, sauce and pasta layers. Plus it was a very thin layer, laid on its side. Not at all worth it. The meatballs were basic no flavor.... Just went there last week as our final try. Used to be our favorite place for years, but many things have changed sadly. Firstly, they have significantly increased pricing (which is ok), but have also cut the food quantity by over 40%. The chicken marsala I used to get now is half size and 30% higher in price. Get a pizza which overall is good but the toppings are so sparse, you will be lucky to have one small piece on each slice. Food is hit or miss, some entrees come out hot and others are room temperature but the taste of the sauces are good. One of their male servers always seems to be unhappy (he has been that way for over 7 years that we have been coming here) BYOB used to be a big reason to go, but now that is not allowed. I have no idea what has happened to this place but it has completely changed in the past 6 months. Please go back to your old formula, raise prices if you need to but keep everything else the same. Most people won't tell you this, rather will just stop coming. If that is happening, make some changes. read more

My wife and I ended up here on a whim and it turned out to be very much not a mistake. At first instinct the staff seemed brief , but then I realized they're just really really fast and was able to accurately accommodate us. I wouldn't mind that at all since we were hella hungry. Their calamari appetizer was huge and well fried. I got meat ball and spaghetti, a simple dish but tasted great regardless how easy it is. I definitely recommend adding mushrooms and it wasn't even that much more expensive. My wife got their pizza and I can say it tops many pizza-only places I've been. We came here a few times over the last few years. It's been a while since we last visited, and the new ownership did not disappoint. The decor was upgraded with nice ambiance. My husband who often lost appetite recently due to chemo raved about their chicken parmigiana and how tender and delicious the chicken is. My shrimp scampi was well cooked as well. We also decided to take out a piece of the amazing chocolate cake to share since we were full. The owner and all the servers were very friendly and welcoming. Looking for a place on the way to a doctor appointment, so gave this place a shot. Was greeted by the owner, was who very open and candid and sharing. The food was very good - wife had a pasta with sausage (very good btw) and mushrooms while i had a small spaghetti and meat sauce (sauce was not runny and the spicing was just right with plenty of meat in the sauce). This is are go to for italian since they opened over 20 years ago. My parents love going here weekly. They loved the friendliness of the owner and his family along with their authentic Italian recipes. The bread is so good you'll want to order more to take home with your leftovers. The lasagna, chicken parm, eggplant parm, pizza. and spaghetti are my families favorites. The restaurant is small but cute and romantic. The waitstaff is very attentive. Last night we went to eat. The service was amazing. The food was not. We ordered spaghetti and lasagna. The consistent flavor we are used to was not there this time. 1st time ever. My mom said her spaghetti sauce tasted like ragu sauce out of a jar. My lasagna lacked the italian seasoning that makes it taste so great. My brother said the same thing it was not flavorful in the least. The bread even tasted bland. Honestly, Olive Garden would have been better, and they're not that great. I hope this is a one-time thing with them having an off night. My mom doesn't want to go again, but I will give it one more time before I look for another local italian restaurant. Coming from New England, I was very very sad to have left my hometown knowing that Texas wouldn't have as many pizza joints as CT. On one of my first nights fully moved in to The Colony, my husband and I decided to get take-out from Amore. We didn't know what to expect. But what we got was crispy crusts, cheesy goodness, and savory meats. Honestly, that's all you could ask for from a good pizza. Though this isn't the world's best pizza joint (you can't beat Frank Pepe's in New Haven, CT!!), it is definitely better than some of the other pizza joints around the area. We just went to lunch with a group of friends. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated promptly. We placed our orders and waited and waited and waited. The waiter returned so I asked about the salads that were on the menu as part of the meal. He said that they did not serve salads with the meal anymore. When I said that it was on the menu as part of the meal, he replied that the owner had changed that. When I told him that doing this was false advertising, he merely said that the owner had changed what was offered. After 1 hour of waiting for the food to arrive, the waiter came out again, he said that they were waiting to bring all the food our at once, but they were having problems with the pizza. We had to go so we asked for our meals to go. 1hour and 15 minutes after we arrived, we left. We were totally disappointed with the service, the lack of communication, the lack of integrity, and the overall disrespect that the owner showed to the patrons. As we left the owner came out for the first time to talk to the group, but we were already on the way out. Do not go to this restaurant. We have been there before and will not be returning. Sadly it didn't make the pandemic, and also times change and now I live in the area of Amore! My friend and I decided to try it when she was over to see if it compared. This place is a hidden little gem! Tucked away in a cozy little strip mall here in The Colony, Texas! We've been going here for years, it's our go to place when we want something that makes you feel like you are sitting in a tiny town in Italy. usually we stop in for lunch, they bring you out warm delicious bread and butter! Winning already! The lunch special is always affordable, you get a side salad with your choice of dressing! Hands-down I never order anything else except for the Sinatra! It is divine! The delicious moist chicken wrapped in ham and egg plant is out of this world. It sits on the top of A small nest of spaghetti pasta and the sauce is what makes it all come together, creamy, buttery- delicious sauce that makes my taste buds giddy! Normally our favorite little regular host is so friendly and helpful, today he didn't seem like he was in the best mood, he barely spoke to us and didn't have much of a smile, maybe he wasn't having a good day! Ok I went in with slim expectations with the sole purpose of trying out an italian close to us... and boy was I surprised! The interior was softly lit and homey with some amazing murals on the wall. It seemed like a local joint. My only requirement for dinner out was craving something cheesy and garlic-y with a bit of spice. So of course, the most obvious choice is baked ziti... We got the baked ziti with extra garlic and spicy and OH MY GOSH... it literally hit the spot!! It was so delicious. The rolls were warm and basic but perfect to wipe all the sauce off. Come to find out they deliver to our area... this has inched up to our second favorite pasta joint due to convenience and taste.
