Let's get into it. I was looking for a place with some good seafood and views. This restaurant delivered with the views of the water and harbor. I sat on the patio and it was perfect. I order mussels and the crab dip. Listen these two stole the show. The mussels and that sauce is amazing. Like, I could literally dip bread in that sauce all day and eat it. That dip was perfectly paired with the pretzel bread. The staff was the sweetest ever. Our server was on point. So I know you wondering why they are receiving a 3 star from me. The main dishes didn't hit at all. The salmon dish was okay but lacked substance. The salmon flavor was good but I didn't like it paired with the stir fried rice. It took the dish down. It looked like some cheap Chinese rice. And they paired it with carrots which didn't make sense because carrots were in the rice. My friend sent her dish back because the fish was over cooked. I think my expectations were too high for this place. Ampersea came up multiple times as I was looking for a nice place to go to dinner. We got the very last reservation remaining for Saturday night, which was for 9:15pm. However, when we got to the restaurant, it was barely half full. That was weird but fine. We got the fried green tomatoes and spring salad to start, and both were fine but nothing exceptional. I got the Spicy Rosa Pasta, which said it would come with shrimp, crab, and mussels. For $38, it came with 5 mussels, 4 shrimp, and 0 crab. The pasta itself was good but I was not a happy camper about paying so much for basically just pasta. I felt for the quality of food they were putting out of the kitchen along with the prices; it did not match the overall dining quality of the inside and outside of the restaurant. Some friends and I ventured over to Ampersea for my birthday. First we were sitting by the water which was fantastic. Then a thunderstorm was moving in so we went inside. The restaurant is in a bldg that shares the Park Museum..its kind of kirky. It seems the outside seating was the star. We were well taken care of even of the small incident with the bird poop on the tables outside, they cleaned that up upon alerting the waiter. Getting to the food. We ordered the fried freen tomatoes and the mussels for the table. The mussels were good but the tomatoes were lacking something. If you are vegetarian or planf based eater you will probably like the that. I had a table wine to drink which complimented all the dishes I ordered. Next for dinner the Honey Salmon was ordered and the crab cakes. The salmon was perfectly cooked along with the roasted carrots. The rice needs something added because it didnt add any value to the dish. The crab cakes were salty. For the star of the meal it was the desert. We had churros and ice cream. Ampersea was my most surprising and delicious meal of 2026 so far. From the moment I walked in, I was met with kindness and humor from the nice host. The restaurant was warm and welcoming, especially on such a freezing night. The waitress was patient and accommodating. Getting a bottle of wine was the perfect drink of choice with the burrata toast and the short rib tortellini (the special of the week). I've had dinner a few times at Ampersea and each time it's a lovely experience. You really can't beat the location. It's right on the harbor and close to cute shops in fells point and beautiful views. This is one of my go-to spots for taking family and friends from out of town that visit Baltimore. You have to try the crab dip and pretzel. It's full of fresh crab meat and very cheesy. The pretzel soft and salty and perfect for dipping. I really enjoyed my short rib. It was tender and flavorful, and the carrots were seasoned well. I also enjoyed the Burrata appetizer. I was surprised to see that it was served atop a slice of bread, but this was a nice touch. Perfect for soaking up the last bites of cheese and dressing. My boyfriend had the seafood pasta and it was tasty and had some kick. This was our move for NYE dinner. We wanted dinner and a show (fireworks), and Ampersea was perfectly located for that. We arrived at 10:30 p.m. They handed us NYE party hats, glasses, etc. There wasn't a special NYE menu, but the food we got was still good. We shared an order of mussels for the appetizer, and I got the short rib for my main, and my boyfriend got the mushroom risotto. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth, and the mashed potatoes and veggies were the perfect accompaniment. I did wish there was an option for dinner rolls, but there were none. My boyfriend enjoyed his risotto as well--there was an almost sweet sauce that on its own tasted weird, but when incorporated into the dish, it tasted really good. Dessert was a decadent chocolate cake. With 5 minutes to spare, we walked outside to the promenade and were treated to an amazing fireworks show over Baltimore Harbor. read more

I chose this location to dine. They were able to accommodate a party of 10. This location is a casual upward dininf experience on the Harbor waterfront. It is cold so there was no dining outside. We were seated at our reserved location. We didnt get greeted by our server until about 15 to 20 minutes after being seated. Our waitress came to the area greeted and took our drink order. She then took our orders for oysters. One ordered brussel sprouts for appetizer in lieu of the oysters. The oysters came out and by surprise they did an extra dozen of oysters in which they gave to us on the house. The oysters were great. But the brussel sprouts never made it to the table. We then order more appetizers (fried green tomatoes, crab and shrimp dip, cream of crab soup and brussel sprouts) I can not eat crab and shrimp so I was not able to taste those items. The guest loved their appetizers and I loved my fried green tomatoes. No complaints. Entrees were ordered that included crab cakes, braised short ribs, mushroom risotto, spicy seafood pasta, seared scallops and chicken pesto. When the meals came to table, there was only one complaint with one of the seared scallop meals; she stated it reaped a strong ammonia odor. My mushroom risotto was creamy and most delish. Our beverages range from old fashion, tequila moon, french 75, dirty martini and ginger ales. The drinks were all enjoyed. To set the night to a close the waitress provided a comp cheese cake for the celebrated person. We enjoyed our dining experience and will return in the future. read more

Great experience. One of the owners welcomed our large group for brunch. We were celebrating three birthdays and the owner was nice enough to give us around of delicious white gummy bear shots. The staff was very friendly and attentive.. The restaurant was clean with hand painted walls. There is indoor and outdoor dining. My wife had the seafood omelette served with potatoes which she enjoyed. I had to try the crab cake. It was full of a lot of thick crab meat. Ampersea is one of the best restaurants in the Baltimore Harbor area and, more specifically, probably the best in Fells Point. I say this for a variety of seasons. I will share more on that in a moment, but best believe, dining on the waterfront already qualifies for three stars, and it can only go up from there. As I mentioned, Ampersea is located in Fells Point, steps away from the water taxi and downtown Baltimore. I've been in and around the area several times, but never noticed it was there. If you are taking the water taxi/ ferry, you can't miss it, but you might miss it if you're on foot. That said, the restaurant is classy and gives a next-level dining experience. I don't believe reservations are necessary, but I would inquire about one just in case. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor we 777744On this outing, my guest and I opted for outdoor seating. Truly beautiful, but it had its minuses. Altho47ugh we enjoyed dining outside, we had to contend with the ants. The ants didn't ruin our experience, but they did appear occasionally, which was a nuisance. As for the staff, overall I would give them glowing remarks, but once seated, the gentleman who greeted us at the door and seated us asked where we were from, and I told him, and he proceeded to grumble something under his breath and turn up his nose. Our waitress, on the other hand, was gracious and attentive throughout our dining experience. The food, ambiance, and wait staff were terrific, and I would return. Ampersea has something special, and I won't let one bad encounter ruin what I believe was an overall fantastic experience. We took a family trip to Baltimore. My sister has been there before and she really likes it. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked in, you can sit inside or outside right in front of the water. We got there shortly after they opened and it got packed quickly, it was pretty lively. We started off with the crab pretzel, which was giant, came out fresh and it was really good. Ampersea's location is unbeatable for some of the best views. The restaurant is huge and has a large outdoor dining area that wraps around the corner on the promenade. I used to come here quite a bit before COVID and always enjoyed the food and drinks. It had definitely been a while since I was last here but recently came in for lunch with a friend. I got their salmon wrap with truffle fries and iced tea. The wrap was great. It was seasoned well and the truffle fries were crispy. The service experienced this time was good too. Ampersea is a nice, modern, fine dining establishment right at the crossroads junction between the Harbor East and Fells Point neighborhood at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park. Wilson and the staff did a spectacular job with customer service and being attentive towards my mom and me when we entered here for a family outing during Christmas Eve! We set reservations just in case, but the good news is that Christmas Eve was pretty slow during a mid afternoon lunch/supper early dinner timeframe. We were immediately greeted and sat down in the restaurant. Our server, Wilson was professional, courteous, friendly and diplomatic. The team was attentive and respectful, however there was a mix up with orders and the chef did miss my sweet potato crisp chips, but it was handled professionally and with surgical precision to bring the food out and for taking accountability and keeping a great attitude regardless. The ambiance and awesome abstract, modern art appeal is nice. I went during the winter, so I did not get to experience the patio, but we were close to the water anyways. It was my first time trying duck, and it was solid! I recommend for people to check out this spot and try to park at the Willis garage close by for parking convenience. What an unexpected highlight our lunch here was. I called ahead for a party of 5 to make sure there was room and was reassured we'd be accommodated. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated outside with a stunning view of the Baltimore harbor and met with warm smiles and congratulations on our celebration. Our server Kira apologized for being busy and the owner brought us champagne while we "waited" -- we didn't mind at all because we were still looking at the menu! It says a lot when a restaurant preemptively takes those steps to make sure their customers are happy. The entire team stepped up to make sure we were constantly attended to, which shows that they have a great teamwork mentality here. Our server Kira was attentive, friendly, and dedicated to her table's needs. Anything we needed, we knew we were in good hands with her. The owner stopped by several times to check on us and joke around; we learned the interesting backstory of the Ampersea logo, which brings to mind a combination of an ampersand & and a fishing knot! I can see why this restaurant is so successful, under great leadership, this versatile "seafood & more" restaurant has the wind in their sails. The manager Joey went out of his way to make our experience special and made us feel at ease from the moment we walked in to the restaurant from the moment we left. He showed consideration on every level; making sure we were comfortable outside, checking in on us, and even suggesting excellent photo ops for our family around the beautiful Ampersea property, which is so beautiful and has so many scenic options. Thank you to Joey for making my brother feel like a VIP on his day of celebration, he walked out of the restaurant with the biggest smile of the day. I've added some pictures of the lunch which was delicious and satisfying! There is a variety of great appetizers, the fries were cooked to perfection, and the lobster roll was the star. (The ceviche starter lags behind the others somewhat, but only because the rest of them are so excellent.) This restaurant also does event spaces, which based on our experience I can see how they'd excel at this. There is also a parking lot right next door to make it even more convenient. We came here because it seems to get recommended a lot online. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed. To start, we weren't super thrilled with the drinks menu. They had some interesting wines but none of them were by the glass, they only offered a couple by the glass options. The cocktail menu was fine but nothing spoke to me, so I ordered an old fashioned. I'm sorry but it was not good at all. An old fashioned should have 2 oz of liquor in it, yet this filled up an entire glass, telling me they added a bunch of water to it (and that's how it tasted as well. Just watery rye). They also used small ice cubes which made it even more watery. The food menu had some good options but I went with the paella special. It was fine, nothing special, did not taste super authentic but I liked some of the seafood in it. The brownie was just not good. They were very flat and dry whereas I was kind of expecting a thicker, richer brownie. Overall pretty disappointing and probably won't come back. read more

The food was delicious we both ordered the crab cake and ended it with some churros and the drinks were even better! The espresso martinis were perfect and so were the Palomas. I ordered the short rib wrap which was so very tender! Very delicious flavor. It came with French fries that included a sprinkle of Parmesan. My 2 friends ordered the salmon wrap and the short ribs and eggs. Both of them enjoyed their meals! Our waitress was very friendly! Despite a small issue with their computer system crashing and incorrectly charging our cards at the end of the meal, she came over and explained that she voided out the additional charges, provided the receipt for documentation, and then gave us her manager's name to call and follow up with if we have any issues or concerns. Very attentive and laid back. I started with the crab pretzel, which I had no idea would be HUGE. The crab was delectable, the cheese was perfectly melted, super gooey, and the cream cheese dip was tangy. I loved this! It was absolutely delectable and indulgent. The Brussels sprouts with bacon was perfectly flavored and had that great savory bacon taste. They also offer hot honey wings, shrimp deviled eggs, ceviche. I had the crab cake . . . Again, I don't think I'm a crab person overall, but it was moist, meaty, large, and pretty darn good, and this is coming from someone who thinks "meh." The server told me it was one of his favorite things. Other entrees: market steak, salmon, mushroom risotto. Handhelds such as lobster rolls, burgers, mushroom wraps. I had a multitude of drinks. I have not been to visit in a few years and as soon as Joey the manager greeted me at the door I instantly missed it. As I waited for him to seat the guest in front of me, I had the beautiful company of the lovely floral arrangement at the entry way of the restaurant. The plants were so gorgeous. Joey was very warm, and we even shared a few jokes as he walked me to my seat. Oscar created one thee BEST lemon drops i've had in a while (it's a margarita once tequila touches it, right? lol) Nonetheless, I could've kept going if I didn't have another activity to do. I did get a tad hungry so I started with a half dozen of Oysters. They were perfect w/ the accompaniment of the warm crackers, and all of the fixings they are dressed with. I also had to see if the mussels were still the way I remembered, and they were so good. I had to ask for another baguette and a spoon to finish the broth. The service from both the manager and the server was great - both very friendly and attentive. I got a lemon drop martini and my friend got a margarita. The drinks were very good. We got a crab dip for our app which was yummy. She got the ampersea burger which she liked and I got the lobster roll which was pretty good but I've definitely had better. For dessert we got the apple cobbler which was not great. The flavor was good but it was way too soupy - it either needed something to make it less liquidy or just less wet ingredients. Ampersea is a place that I haven't been In a while so I was pleasantly pleased when invited by some friends to join. They were perfect as I had just finished running and starving. I was greeted by super friendly folks that didn't give me flack about my running attire. Much appreciated. I finally settled on the tacos and had a great time catching up with my friends in the short time they took to come out. The tacos and rice they came with were tasty. My only drawback was that there was a hard shell taco inside of the soft taco. Unnecessary fried carbs in my opinion but easily able to be removed. I'm sure I could order them without them. I've been coming here steadily since the pandemic, and the views are solid and I heard proceeds benefit the Living Foundation. The pour was very heavy and unrefined from the staff, which is fine but you expect more when you order a bottle. The food - the taste was solid but there was something off about the mouthfeel. The kale salad tasted like decorative kale. They hadn't massaged it enough. The Brussel sprouts were soft and the risotto was super mushy more soft than congee. It's a great place for a water view, but I was really disappointed in the food. But it's worth visiting, and I hope the next time I come back I can update my review because I swear a year ago I would've given four stars. read more
