I've been meaning to write a review for quite awhile since I've had these guys move me 3 times in the past 2 years - but this last time really demanded that I write a review, because they've proved how fantastic they are and it would be unethical not to recommend them to everyone. The first 2 times I moved, I thought, "Oh, I'll be a baller and move all my own boxes and just let them take the furniture that won't fit in my car, because it'll cost more if I make them take the boxes too." This last time, though, I was tired of doing the 6-car-trips-before-the-actual-move thing and let them take the boxes, and they hustle so fast it didn't end up adding onto the total time. I dare you to try to find another moving company with a rate of $65 for each additional hour. Just try. You won't! The total price I paid was about $300 less than quotes I got from other companies, yet the value of service is incredible. Do call as soon as you know your move-in date, though, because weekends fill up fast and it helps them to have it lined up in advance. What really impresses me is their creative solutions to difficult furniture. I don't try to do this, I swear, but I always have a couch problem. Always! The first 2 times I moved I had 2 very bulky couches that barely squeezed through the door. They had to move them through the front of my condo, which wasn't technically allowed, but they did it so fast that none of the neighbors noticed. When I moved last weekend, we all had a panic attack when they looked at the very narrow entrance to my garden unit and informed me there was no way my brand new (quite normal-sized) couch would fit through it. Like, what do you even do at that point? They talked to my landlord, and she agreed to let them try to walk it up the stairs into her apartment and down into the never-used, always-locked doorway that connects her unit to mine. It was slightly wider, but had more awkward angles. I don't know HOW they did it. The back of the couch was scraping a brick wall the whole way through the alley, but they'd wrapped the furniture so well there was absolutely NO DAMAGE whatsoever! When they got to the entrance to my apartment, they actually removed the door from its hinges to fit the couch through...and it fit! I was almost crying in relief. I would think most moving companies would tack on a (quite understandable) for insanely difficult furniture, but there was no added charge on my bill, just the hourly rate. These guys are honest, hard-working and pleasant, and they go above and beyond what I would expect of movers. I wouldn't use any other company! read more

They have moved my daughter twice; they are always on time, great with communication and are willing to do whatever it takes to make your move a success. This move required 4 stops: one to move out of an apartment,one to dispose of unwanted items, one to drop some furniture and boxes at our condo and another to deliver the rest of the items to storage. They accurately separated and loaded all of those items (it was confusing even to me to keep that straight) and with their advice they solved some of my concerns fitting everything in its new space. They showed up on time, ready to work. Took every bit of 2 hours to move but they packed everything so carefully. They even knew how to take apart our lazy boy chair for ease of moving. They clearly know how furniture goes together/comes apart which was helpful. Communication was pretty good as well. You can't beat the prices. How it works is you pay a deposit up front to secure your time and date, which is pretty clever. Deposit gets applied toward your final move. I compared 6+ different companies and AMPOL was by far the most reasonably priced. Very professional and will use them again for any future moves! Very happy with this moving company. Before my move, I got a lot of quotes and they were all around the same price. Ampol had great reviews on Yelp so I went with them. They were very careful with our stuff and were moving at a good pace, even with elevator issues for a brief time. When I asked them beforehand how long the move would take, they said 6-7 hours, and it ended up taking 7. This included two pickups and one drop off location. The movers were very nice to work. At least at the time of this review, their pricing was $475 flat rate for the first two hours and all supplies needed, plus 100 per hour for every additional hour. Ended up costing around 1000 in case you want numbers like I did when I was looking at reviews - this was for basically a 2 bedroom apartment amount of stuff. Would definitely recommend them as their prices are competitive and they were careful with our stuff. read more

Our movers were Mikos and Chris and they were fabulous. They moved heavy things from four different stops for us, starting at 8:30 and working until 6:30. They wrapped everything and were super careful. Nothing was damaged and they even managed to get a couch that couldn't possibly get into the basement into the basement! I hired Ampol Movers to move furniture around in my house on 10/2/18 so I could move my 89 year old Father in. The furniture that needed to be moved was large and very heavy. I have used Ampol twice now to move our 3bed apt. They are great! Best prices around and they don't try to nickel and dime you for every little thing like shrink wrap or moving blankets like the other companies I looked into. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, and take care of your stuff. Anything that they need to take apart to move they are sure to reassemble just they way it was before they took it apart. Our new place has carpet upstairs and so they took the time to lay their moving blankets over the carpet so that they didn't track snow on the carpet. I was looking for movers and noticed Ampol's consistent 5 star rating. Now I know why. Professional, punctual, hard-working, friendly I've moved many times and hired movers for most of my moves. These guys are the best. First of all, they told me they'd be at my location on my chosen move date at 8:30am. I figured this was just a window, but no--they were there promptly at 8:30--maybe even 8:29. I couldn't believe it. They were very professional from the beginning. Marcin, who owns the company, also handled my move and is a really nice guy. The two guys worked the entire time, usually had boxes in both arms, did the move professionally and quickly and for a very reasonable rate. We used these guys for a move from a 2BR apt in Evanston to a home in Mount Prospect at the beginning of July. I originally contacted them via email, giving them a list of what we had etc., and they quoted me a price and were able to do it in my desired time-frame (which was only about two weeks in the future at that point). They (three guys and a truck) showed up right on time. They were very careful, listened to everything that we asked for, did a good job wrapping furniture etc., and worked quickly and effectively and we got the whole thing done about as quickly as it could be. I came across Ampol Movers while searching for movers in my local area (Des Plaines, IL) and was very impressed with the reviews posted on its website. I called for quotes from other movers in the area but found quote given my Ampol quite competitive and reasonable. (The other competitive quotes were from Crescent movers and Wolly Movers). So, I decided to give Ampol a try. I had to move stuff I bought on Craigslist also which was to be picked up at three different locations, about 10 to 15 miles away, apart from moving stuff from my old residence to new Condo. which is only 2 miles away from my old residence. Two guys were very punctual and actually arrived ahead of time. They were very polite, strong and professional who knew their job very well. The truck was well equipped with all the tools and materials required. They wrapped up some of the furniture with plastic film or quilts. They carefully removed the glass shelves of the china hutch, unscrewed them and re-assembled it at the new place without any scratch. My new condo. is on the third floor and we had to use elevator there to move up the stuff. So, they suggested splitting up my large sofa in to three pieces, which I even didn't know that It could be split in to three parts by unscrewing it from the bottom and moved up the Sofa in 3 pieces at the new condo. and re-assembled it at the new place exactly similar to what it looked like before. The guys parked the truck at the parking lot outside the garage in a way not to interfere with the traffic. They re-arranged the very heavy Office desk which I initially asked them to put at certain spot which my wife wanted to move to a different spot, with smile. They were fast and efficient (didn't waste much time) and they did the job at a very reasonable and affordable price. All in all, I had very pleasant experience and would highly recommend them for using their services for moving and I would definitely use them in future, if required. read more

The crews at Ampol Moving are absolutely the best in the business. We have used movers on and off for the last 15 years in and around the Chicago area, and our experience with Ampol was far and away the best. We used them 2 consecutive times in one week - both for ourselves and for my mom's moves. We were all moving out of state, and rented trucks to drive ourselves - only needed Ampol's services for the actual packing of the truck. The crews both showed up on time and worked non-stop until they were done. They were courteous and respectful. Anything they disassembled they kept together very neatly since they knew they would not be putting it back together. On top of the great service their prices were VERY reasonable. When we got to our final destination (both times) we found that our belongings hadn't moved an inch in transit - over a 4 hour drive both times! The other moving company who unloaded us at our final destination even complimented and were very impressed by how great of a job Ampol did packing the truck! I mailed Ampol for a moving quote from Chicago gold coast area to Mount prospect and I received an email response from Marcin, Ampol's president the same business day. He quoted a rate of 260 for 2 hours and 2 movers, then an additional 65 per hour thereeafter. The building I moved out of is very nitpicky about move times and liability insurance, and Marcin forwarded a certificate of insurance to the building managers. His drivers showed up a bit late (it was a January move so i am not surprised), but they were very pleasant, clean, and worked FAST! They had my apartment emptied within an hour, drove out to Mount Prospect, and unpacked in another 1.5 hours. Total moving time was 2.5 hours. The movers were careful with heavy furniture and delicate electronics. I highly recommend this company. read more

Used Ampol for a 3 bed/2 bath house move from the northwest suburbs. They were prompt and efficient with the move. They had to bring out a 2nd truck and 2 more guys because we had so much stuff! They even stopped at our storage unit before dropping our stuff off at the new house. As other reviewers have said, buy them lunch. They works hard, don't take many breaks (not sure I saw any), and get your stuff moved in an efficient manner. If you forget to remove shelves or have lots of little things they even pack them up for you in one of their big boxes. Definitely would use them again! read more

We used Ampol Moving for our move from a town home to a single family home and they were the best! They were also very reasonable in price compared to other companies I looked into. We accumulated a lot of stuff after living in our town home for 5 years but the movers were able to make all of it fit perfectly in the truck. They were very efficient and careful loading. We also had to have the truck stored overnight and unloaded the next day which was not an issue for them. We had the same moving crew for the unload and again they were great. They were again very efficient and careful with all the items.
