    Goat curry ($15)
    Nancy C.

Tried this food truck at the Festival of Globe in Fremont last weekend. I got goat curry ($15). They were nice about giving extra rice when I asked. Goat curry was delish, no complaints there. However, I found an animal hair (presumably goat), and the included flatbread was like the sort of naan or pita you'd find in Safeway.

    Idly vada

We went when they were stationed at 3 Steves winery in Livermore. It was well worth the trek from SF. We got: Idly-vadai combo Potato paratha Masala dosa Bonus samosas! Like Anju said below, some of the softest idli ever. The vada were fragrant and perfectly crispy. Samosas were super crispy outside but still soft and moist inside. Dosas are usually my least favorite on a tiffin menu but this one made me reconsider. There was also more filling than one typically gets. The paratha was also delightful, as were the chickpeas alongside. Coconut chutney and sambar were both great and there was plenty of both. Highly recommend!!!!!! The owners are also super sweet!

The interior is gorgeous and would be a great place for a date or celebratory dinner. Their food though is next level, it really is well above the typical indian food around. The saag with paneer is so much smoother and richer, and the chicken tikka salad is really healthy and not greasy, while having a ton of flavor. But what gets me every time is the papadum. Here they serve it with a tomato-onion salsa which is delicious and light. Love takeout from here!

The ambiance was really nice. It has a really classy feel with pretty decor, and the restaurant is pretty spacious. There's also a banquet hall next door for events and parties. Service was a little slow, but expected because of how crowded it was for Mother's Day. They also had a special menu, so the selection was a bit more limited than usual. For appetizers, we got the malai chicken tikka and the ancho paneer tikka. The malai chicken tikka was good and came with chutney, although it was slightly dry. The ancho paneer tikka also tasted good, but it had a slightly chewy texture. The entrees stood out more. My favorite was the butter chicken. The gravy was creamy and flavorful, and the chicken pieces were soft. While I didn't personally try the goat curry or the desi ghee dal tadka, my family really liked both. They said that the goat curry had a really flavorful gravy with tender pieces, and the dal was light and comforting. The chicken Mughlai biryani was good too. The rice was aromatic and not very spicy. We also got the bread basket, which came with an assortment of naans and Amritsari kulcha. Everything came out warm and soft. The food is definitely on the pricier side. Quantities weren't so large, but the flavor and experience were good, so if you're willing to splurge a little on an upscale lunch or dinner, it's worth a try!

Walked around the building looking for the entrance. Tripped at least once on uneven payment. Upon entering I was greeted, given a menu, assigned a seat at the bar. Seeing it was a drink menu, I asked for a food menu. After consultation with bartender, I ordered. He gave order to waitress. Never saw him again. 5ish minutes later, waitress came over to inquire what I wanted to drink. "Water" i replied. Water came 12 minutes later with my food. Offerings: South India fare: soup, entrees, salads, entrees, vegetarian, non-vegetarian. Also pasta, India habachi. Bites: Dakshin Chicken Chettinad (18.99) med. Spicy. Small bowl with big spoon -boneless chicken pieces slowly braised in a savory with many spices (garlic, cumin, black pepper, star anise, funnel seeds, kok slaps...), south curry leaves, and coconut. Every bite deliz. -very condensed savory mix with plentiful Unami. Hotness from peppers not chilis. Tandoori garlic naan (3.99) ordered this. Got plain. Tasted plain. Not spiciness. Desired garlic not to repel vampires but to lower my cholesterol. Didn't discover discrepancy till I checked receipt. When finished, I asked the new bartender for bill. He called waitress. She came over and asked can she clear plates? "Ok" I said. She did and disappeared. Asked bartender again for my bill. Decor is lots of bright lites, big dining area, 2 flatscreens tuned to sports. A fish tank with no fish, lots of hanging faux leaves from ceiling & the left wall. 3.5 stars Food wonderful. Service & decor underwhelming. Doubtful repeat.

Flavor was all over the place -- a couple pieces had no salt at all, while others were way too salty. And the spicyness wasnt(aka chilli flakes) in the potato mixture wasnt spread well either. I got the triple kabob plate and the rice portion was surprisingly small compared to other Afghan spots. Chicken kabobs were inconsistent: some pieces were super salty, others were fine. The beef was tender, but not every bite had the same flavor. Chicken was tender though, cut well. Could have been flavored a bit more Plates overall felt smaller than what I'm used to at similar restaurants. Also worth mentioning -- they serve alcohol here, so if you're strict about halal, that might be a consideration. Since a place selling wine- not sure how strict they are on sourcing halal meat (hand slaughter for example). Also very pricey location compared to others maybe since they serve wine they catering to folks that drink who may spend more without caring All in all, not terrible, but definitely inconsistent and portion sizes could be better. Worth mentioning that all these de afghanans are not same - they have diff owners etc. Not bad seating, was empty for a sunday lunch at noon .

But unfortunately it was over, on Sunday night that is acceptable. I asked him which Biryani has no nuts. They said special chicken Biryani, so we ordered it but my daughter still found cashews in it. I always find this very scary for nut allergy people. Later they told that Vijaywada Biryani has no nuts and gave us that Biryani. Both dishes are not real Biryani's, they look like chicken curry over rice. Special chicken biryani is mild creamy chicken over rice. Vijay wada is very spicy version. Taste was ok but my brain can't associate it with Biryani. I also tried Thagubothu chicken starter - it is like fried spicy dry chicken. This was very spicy and very very sour . I did not liked the sourness it was too much, I have never tasted such a dish, not sure how much Lemon or vinegar they added to it. From name Biryaniz I would expect better !!!

Other locations have been consistent. Thus we decided to try this location. There was zero service provided other than bringing the food out. We got Chicken biriyani, chole bhatura and gobi manchurian. Chicken biriyani - Was stale, dry, the chicken was definitely microwaved. Tasted bit off.Other pictures from the location clearly show a boiled egg. We didnt get one in ours. Now I understand there is an egg shortage - Business should inform patrons that egg is not included or ask if they are okay to be charged little extra for that egg. Chicken biriyani without egg doesnt quite go well. I am happy to pay extra. Chole bhatura - Only one medium sized bhatura was provided. Either places have one big bhatura or two medium sized bhatura. This was only one. Chole did taste good. Gobi manchurian - Had massive unmarinated, unseasoned pieces of cauliflower that were quickly batter fried. The outer covering and the tossed sauce definitely had good flavor but as soon as we bit into the cauliflower there was no flavor. It looked like this was made in hurry with massive pieces rather than cutting medium sized pieces that are well marinated and then batter fried. This location does not serve chai or coffee. Now that is mind boggling to me why an Indian restaurant would not have Chai or Coffee. Its definitely there on the menu but, I was told its not served at this location. I encourage this business to have dine-in cutlery and plates for indoor dining. I understand thats how biriyaniz all locations operate - all food served in to-go boxes and disposable plates. But, please provide reusable plates for indoor dining. We will definitely continue visiting other biriyaniz locations but remember to skip this one for sure.
