Tried this Indian food truck at an event. I wasn't in the mood for cheesesteaks, burgers or fried chicken sandwiches which were most of the other trucks that day. I liked their menu as it was easy to follow. A few apps, a wrap that you can customize and several rice bowls which are curry based. Fried Tandoori Wings ($6/4*) You get 4 nice sized wings for this price. Generous price as other trucks would want at least $10 for an app of this sized. The wings are marinated but not strongly then it is fried til pretty crisp. No coating and no texture from dry spices but because of the wet marinade the wings get pretty dark in the fry. I actually liked their simple fried chicken; it had a unique flavor, and it wasn't crazy dry. I would definitely get these again. Chicken Tikka Wrap ($13/4*) This is straight up an Indian burrito. Exact same size and look of a Mexican burrito. Large warm flour tortilla filled generously with basmati rice, a light handful of lettuce and a good scoop of chicken tikka masala which I think most people know because it is a popular Indian dish that most non-Indian know/like. A gateway dish if you will. Now all flavors and textures were decent. The chicken was quite tender bathing in that creamy and spicy tomato sauce that totally absorbs into the rice. Lettuce gets soft and wilted from the heat of the other ingredients. Wished there were another element in there to give it more diversity in texture maybe some of their chickpea masala (which you can actually choose as a protein choice). Maybe next time I'll ask for half n half. I also thought that this was going to be wrapped in some Indian flatbread which I think would have made it more special versus just a standard flour tortilla. But for $13 this was still a very filling and flavorful meal. I actually got 2 meals from this hefty burrito. If I run into this truck again I'm going to try the samosas and the goat curry rice bowl. I had the pleasure of trying Ampuli when we had an employee appreciation event for Diwali at my work. I worked with Arun to have him bring the Ampuli truck to our site to feed the employees. Arun was very easy to work with. We were able to quickly determine a menu and he gave a very fair quote for the amount of options he was providing. There were various meat, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Arun and his team at Ampuli arrived promptly and on time for the event. The site was very thrilled with the quickness of service and the quality of food. I was able to try the vegetarian biryani and vegetarian curry. The flavors were great and the food was very aromatic! I was going to cook something quick at home when to my surprise there was a foodtruck on my short walk home! I tried the samosas and chicken curry. The samosas were not bad. Pretty flaky and flavorful, though not the most packed with filling. The chicken curry was just OK. Not too spicy, but a bit on the dry side. They initially forgot to put my samosas in the bag. The worker in the food truck ran for two blocks to track me down and let me know the samosas were missing. That was certainly appreciated and saved me from disappointment upon arriving at home. We went when they were stationed at 3 Steves winery in Livermore. It was well worth the trek from SF. We got: Idly-vadai combo Potato paratha Masala dosa Bonus samosas! Like Anju said below, some of the softest idli ever. The vada were fragrant and perfectly crispy. Samosas were super crispy outside but still soft and moist inside. Dosas are usually my least favorite on a tiffin menu but this one made me reconsider. There was also more filling than one typically gets. The paratha was also delightful, as were the chickpeas alongside. Coconut chutney and sambar were both great and there was plenty of both. Highly recommend!!!!!! We hired Ampuli for our mehendi for our wedding this past weekend and we loved every part of the experience. We initially found them when searching for food trucks who were willing to come to us on a Friday night and serve a fully customized menu. Arun and Bhuvaneshwari went above and beyond in their kindness and willingness to work with us to make sure our event was a hit. They impressed both the Gujarati and Tamil sides of the family with how authentic and delicious their food was. They served almost 60 people and it didn't ever feel like a long wait. You can always find Ampuli food truck in Food Truck Mafia events. Enjoyed their food a few times at Fremont and in Pleasanton. Probably this is one of the best food truck that serve Indian food. I am huge fan of their Parathas, Dosas and the chicken curries. Try out the potato n spinach parathas, they are really yummy. Masala dosa was ok, but I really enjoyed the Kal Dosa. Tried out Samosas n fries a few times and it was great as well. Their Naan n curry option is really nice and cost effective. Apart from all these, they used to have a lot of items on their menu. I have had the opportunity of enjoying this food truck for the last couple months thanks to them being on a rotation of food trucks at the Embarcadero Cove parking lot (Oakland) every so many Thursdays. This is my third time ordering from them and I've had a great experience every time! I first ordered the Chicken Biryani which appeared to be dry and plain but actually was full of flavor and very delicious! I was surprised to find it was served with a side of Chicken Tikka Masala as a dipping sauce for the side of naan that also came with this dish! That is when I decided CTM would be my next order. Sure enough, when I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala the next time they showed up, I was so glad I did! It was loaded with flavor and the chicken and sauce were the perfect ratio not to mention a hefty portion leaving you feel like you ate a substantial lunch, but without overstuffing yourself. Today I ordered the CTM again and shared a side of Samosas with a coworker. I have to say, hands down, these were probably the best Samosas I have ever eaten. 2-D in shape compared to a traditional Samosa and fried to perfection. The flavor knocked my socks off!! So I am 3 times sold on this truck and the friendliness received each time sealed the deal that I will order every time I see them pull up.
