Been here before no issues. Showed up at 3pm on A Saturday with husband and small bichon. Every table outside was empty except an area that was dirty on The street. That is the area they offered us. I love history and a good drink.. i'm staying down the street from this little pub and came in late one night from Cali .. It was the only place we can get food after 10 o'clock in the neighborhood, typical bar food. My friends and I were actually on the other side of the bar in a little nook area. We were only there for drinks but someone across the way from us got wings which smelled unbelievable! Came here for the Subway Series last weekend, and they were playing some sort of exhibition women's basketball game on two of the TVs near the bar. I kindly asked the bartender if she did not mind changing to the baseball game and she told me "you can watch it on one of the other TVs over there." This women was short with me and unprofessional (working at the bar Saturday 5/17 at 1 PM). What's worse is that the bar didn't even have the audio on for the baseball games. They were playing the game on a handful of TVs, but blasting club music over it. Meanwhile every single party in the bar was there to watch the game. I will not be returning to this bar. I never knew what type of beer I liked or cared enough to find out...however when I tried Allagash ..wow I have never drank beer that fast. Allagash is light, and not bitter at all. I wish they sold it in Texas :') Like I said, I wasn't big on beer so I'm not sure how to explain it in beer terms or do it justice with words. I know my taste buds may be biased but I believe this is in their happy hour menu so if you're iffy about paying full price for it, just try it during their happy hour. Food wise.. the NACHOS wow are they PACKED! they load the nachos up and at the end put it in the oven to melt the cheese on top. it does not make the chips under soft. Good place for burgers and beer. The inside is a typical bar, kind of dark with lots of wood. Outdoor seating is the place to be on a nice day. I liked that the tables were on 76th St., which has much less traffic than Amsterdam Ave. The tables are set along the restaurant wall so you're not exposed to foot traffic. I had the Angus burger which came loaded with a good size patty, lettuce, tomato, onion and sliced pickle. You get a choice of a bunch of sides including fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, salad, etc. I appreciated that there was no upcharge for sweet potato fries or onion rings, unlike most places. The buns are English Muffins and I wasn't sure how I would like that, but they turned out to be good! Service was good, the server came by frequently. She wasn't too familiar with the beer choices which is a bit odd given it's their specialty so as long as you don't need a recommendation you'll be fine. Amsterdam Ale is in a central location on the UWS and I would return. read more

Even though I tipped $2 for 2 drinks, I found that Amsterdam added in an $8 tip that I'm currently disputed. Who knows how much they're stealing from their customers. $5 here, $5 there. Disappointing service. Came in on 8/25/25. We ordered a Moscow Mule, Guacamole, celery, French fries, seltzer with lime at 10pm, seated outside. Waited forever for the fries. When I went inside to inquire, the waitress said she had forgotten to put in the order. While we waited for the fries nobody asked if we would like another round of drinks - their loss. We were never brought napkins or silverware. We basically felt ignored for sitting outside the bar at 10pm. The two guys next to us just got up and left because they never got their check. Amsterdam Ale House has been a neighborhood staple for years, I was sorry to see a decline in their level of service. We are here brunch time on a late Sunday morning. We sat on the patio. We started with the Buffalo cauliflower. The table agreed that this was one of the best Buffalo cauliflowers we have had. The batter was a nice thin crunchy layer, the cauliflower still had some texture and the tasty sauce clung nicely to the "wings". My daughter has the Cuban sandwich. The pork had a great herbaceous flavor. The rosemary was present but it didn't overwhelm the pork. My wife had the nachos, they were good but the ground beef was under seasoned. Stopped by here by chance and decided to give it a try. It's a big place with plenty of outdoor seating for dine in or just for a few drinks with your friends. It's really nice on a nice breezy summer day. We ordered the bison burger and fish and chips. I didn't expect much from this place after looking at the mixed reviews but I'm surprised that the food is actually pretty decent. I didn't ordered beer but they do have a wide selection of draft beers ranging different types from ipa to stouts. What a warm and friendly place! We stayed in a near by AirBNB and stumbled in after seeing To Kill A Mocking Bird with Ed Harris. It's was late, sprinkling, and most places in the hood were closed. We thought we would take our chances and boy am I glad we did! There was 8 in our party and we were seated right away. They have a large assortment of beers on tap and a full bar. Beers and whiskey in hand, we decided to try the burgers. My husband and I split a classic burger, medium rare, topped with pepper jack cheese. The burger came perfectly cooked served between an English muffin. This is not a huge burger, but we also split a salad which was fresh and delicious. The whiskey must have gone to my head because I forgot to take note of the type of salad or take a photo of the menu. Just know that we loved it and ate every bite! Just so you know, I'm not a total health nut. I had to order the sweet potato fries. They were cooked to perfection! Sliced thin just the way I like it. This place has substantial outdoor seating and looks like it's bigger than what they had available with their indoor capacity. We sat in their makeshift wooden seating area, which they had an electric heater next to the table. A few of the food we shared included the Ale House Quesadilla ($12.95), Buffalo Wings ($13.95), and Classic 12-Inch Pizza ($12.95). They are your standard bar food and they met expectations in terms of quality. The place houses a very decent draft menu. I got All the Way Up: Cherries & Blackberries, pretty good sour beer. This went for $12. Most of the selections ranges between $8 and $12. This seems to be the main appeal while also being able to watch whatever sporting event is going on. The absolute turn off was at the end when we got the bill. On top of the 10% COVID fee (I personally didn't mind this to support local businesses), they also charged a credit card fee. Business is business, but there are plenty of other restaurants out there also dying for business as well that don't charge these fees and are surviving just fine! read more

The place itself is big nice corner location with tables outside and is very spacious inside (perhaps feeling more spacious than it is due to windows forming most of the outer perimeter. One of the nicest times I've had eating out in NYC. Our waitress was awesome. She went out of her way to make sure what was Vegan for me. My only disappointment was that the chef said he could make the pomodoro sauce without butter, but I guess decided to leave it out of the dish completely. Instead did garlic and olive oil with sun dried tomatoes. Not a big deal at all and I was just happy to have a place that was so accommodating. The hummus was also delicious and the presentation was pretty. My friends loved the wings, onion rings and pretzel. Beer menu is awesome. Food came out really hot and fresh. Headed here for a World Cup game. They have a nice selection of beer as well as food. The place got pretty busy as the game went on. I was surprised they essentially had one person waiting the tables. Even though, the service was still pretty good. I ordered a Cuban sandwich. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it also wasn't the worst. It was solid. The German Pilsner (named Micro) is really good.
