Amy's Ice Cream has unique flavors and a fun atmosphere. It is located in a section surrounded by other great restaurants. There's a children's playground outside and cute indoor seating. Amy's also sells cakes, pre-packed ice cream pints, various trinkets, and specialty items (like the fun looking marshmallows near the counter). I appreciated the vegan ice cream options available. I ordered a scoop of chai and tiramisu ice cream. The staff is courteous and welcoming and I cannot wait to try new flavors the next time I visit.

Last night, I came here for the millionth, gazillionth-billionth time! I tried the chocolate jalapeno ice-cream which had a rich creamy chocolate base and a freshly sliced jalapeno 'kick' to the back of the throat. Although this flavor was tasty, I had to pass as I feared for the worst...heart burn! Instead, I opted for the Kahlúa ice cream topped with almonds. A girl can't go wrong with an ice cream such as this as it's a drank and desert- score. The Kahlúa ice-cream tasted just as the named implied which was great for a late night treat after a heavy dinner. I also picked up a fun TX sized cookie with an Austin twist. I enjoy coming to Amy's as there is always a new flavor to try and it is a place that is good to take your children to, hang-out with friends at or take a date. Additionally, the staff is always super friendly.

I was really hoping to like Amy's from everything I had heard, but I was actually disappointed! I should probably note that I LOVE ice cream. I'd eat it all day everyday if I were guaranteed good health. Anyway, my point being is I'm always looking for a new ice cream shop. This location is in the Arboretum which is a really fun shopping center in North Austin. There was plenty of parking and Amy's wasn't crowded when I arrived. The ice cream itself is expensive... I ordered a small Oreo cup ($4.95) with Oreo toppings (+$1.00). I'm definitely not used to spending nearly $6 on ice cream, especially in such a small serving. The ice cream itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't any better than other shops I've tried. My favorite part of the experience actually wasn't Amy's, but rather the outdoor environment. Right outside the ice cream shop are plenty of seats, string lights, and a trail leading to an overlook. There were many couples walking around (clearly a perfect date spot!) and a few students studying. Would I return? Ehhh maybe. If I were at the Arboretum, I might stop into Amy's and grab a scoop. I probably wouldn't make a special trip.

Amy's ice cream is simple fix for my ice cream craving, I like their dark chocolate flavor best, added Oreos for extra crunches! Compared with some other ice cream shops, Amy's ice cream is more creamy and traditional style, the flavors would remind me of happy childhood.

Amy's is always delicious! You literally cannot go wrong. The flavors are super rich so a "tiny" size is the perfect amount! I also love the new cup design. Super cute!

I've been coming to various Amy's locations since I was twelve, and it's always a good time. This time, I took my twelve year old for their first time and they really enjoyed it. The energy was a little awkward upon first arrival and like any older ice cream shop, it smelled of old ice cream and sugar. But it was an otherwise clean establishment. We were greeted promptly and my child made their order. Strawberry with m&m's mixed in. Weird, but whatever. They're twelve. One of the staff started making recommendations and came to something with coconut, which falls under the tree nut family. I said "Oh that sounds great, I'm just allergic to tree nuts." The person looked confused and said "It's coconut." I nodded and replied, "Yes, still falls under the category of tree nuts." That's a little concerning that allergens aren't educated on. But I don't blame the person. I made my order, and I watched that same staff member sanitize their tools before making my ice cream. We paid, and ended up sitting inside and laughing together for a while, watching the kids outside tumble over each other for the play sets.

Ask the Community - Amy's Ice Creams

Does your ice cream have egg? I can take a lactase pill to deal with my dairy intolerance but there's nothing I can do about my egg intolerance. Thanks in advance!

Yes, with the exception of their vegan flavor, Amy's does use eggs in their ice cream.

    Are there dairy free options?

Thank you for your question. Yes this store will always carry a Vegan flavor that is non dairy. Our vegan bases include coconut milk and oat milk. We also have a fruit ice which is a bit like a sorbet. Fruit Ices are not vegan but they are… Read more

Between the three of us, there was a little bit of everything--from classic comfort flavors to things I never thought would work in ice cream but somehow absolutely did. (Please ignore the F, E, D--this was how I kept track of who ordered what). Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint (F, E) - the absolute winner of the night and my #1 flavor. I never thought I'd describe an ice cream as refreshing in the way a sorbet is, but somehow this pulled it off while staying rich and creamy. Delicious, subtly minty, unbelievably smooth, and surprisingly refreshing. The beet flavor was mild enough that it didn't taste earthy or overpowering--just mellow and creamy, while the mint made all the difference in brightening everything up. I genuinely never had such a refreshing ice cream that wasn't sorbet. Such a unique flavor that somehow works perfectly, and absolutely something I'd get again. GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey (E, D) - my #2 and a complete 100% hit. Tangy, creamy, slightly savory, sweet, and incredibly unique while still tasting approachable. It somehow tastes exactly like the name promises without feeling too "out there." If you're nervous about goat cheese, trust me and try it. Easily an instant reorder. Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt (E, D) - rounding out my top three. Such a good balance against the sweetness of the rest of the ice cream options. Rich, deep chocolate flavor without becoming overwhelming, while the olive oil and sea salt round everything out and keep it from tasting too sugary. A flavor I appreciated more and more between bites of sweeter scoops. Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean (E) - one of the smoothest vanilla bean ice creams I've had. It reminded me of a traditional ice milk soft serve in the best way possible: creamy, nostalgic, and incredibly easy to eat. A deceptively simple flavor done really well. Very Strawberry (F) - a clean strawberry flavor that leaned a little artificial, but honestly? Still really good. Bright, fruity, and easy to enjoy. Cookies & Cream (F) - this one hit HARD when you got a full spoonful. I never liked cookies & cream before this, but this one genuinely changed my mind. Probably the only cookies & cream I would willingly eat. Chocolate Chocolate (F) - love chocolate? Get this. That's all you need to know. Coffee & Cream (D) - oooh. This immediately reminded me of a keto coffee ice cream I had once and really enjoyed. Rich coffee flavor without tasting too bitter or overpowering--would absolutely get this again. Sweet Cream w. Strawberry (D) - unfortunately, a miss for me compared to the others. Too creamy for me and not enough strawberry flavor to justify choosing it over the Very Strawberry. Overall, the adventurous flavors completely stole the show here. My tier list by far: 1) Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint, 2) GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey, and 3) Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt. Unique flavors that actually feel intentional rather than gimmicky, and all three are instant repeat orders for me. Atmosphere-wise, the place was pleasant, parking was surprisingly easy, and while it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded, the place is definitely more popular than it first appears. I never thought I'd be a fan of Americanized ice cream--usually it's way too sweet for me--but Lick completely proved me wrong. Somehow, the flavors felt balanced, intentional, and actually let the ingredients shine without drowning me in sugar. Touché, Lick. Dangerous spot for indecisive people because suddenly you're convincing yourself that yes, maybe you do need another scoop.

Quite busy at 8:15PM on a Sunday! About ten people ahead of us and only two people working so it took about 10-15mins with people asking for samples and such. While we were there, it was always a packed line so it definitely gets really busy from 8-9PM! We got three larges for a total of twelve flavors, a little bit of overlap: Mine: Dark Chocolate Olive Oil and Sea Salt - Really liked this, the bitter saltiness offset the creaminess really well. Coffee with Cream - A very light but roasty coffee, like a light coffee. I liked this!; Goat Cheese, Thyme and Honey - The herbal flavor is more subtle than I expected! Not too sweet, liked this one Sweet Cream & Strawberry - this one didn't stand out much to me Others: Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint - I really liked this one! The beets and mint hit on the back of your tongue, yum Chocolate Chocolate - Very intense chocolate, not too crazy about it though Cookies & Cream - Surprisingly good! I liked this one Very Strawberry - way more strawberry than the sweet cream. I'd recommend this over the sweet cream and strawberry Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean - Pretty light, a classic. Thought it was okay. If I had a tier list it would be: 1) Coffee with Cream 2) Goat Cheese 3) Dark Chocolate Olive Oil 4) Roasted Beets and Mint 5) Cookies & Cream 6) Very Strawberry 7) Vanilla Bean 8) Chocolate Chocolate 9) Sweet Cream & Strawberry Overall, a few hits, a few misses, but it was a fun tasting experience. We paid via inKind with no issues, which made it a pretty solid value.

There's a good variety of flavors and things they serve from italian ice to ice cream and shakes. We opted for a strawberry italian ice with condensed milk on top. From the first bite we were in heaven. The flavor is very thorough which is not always the case for Italian ices where it can sometimes be a bit muted. Every single bite of this was packed with flavor. They also carve out a bit of the middle to put the condensed milk which makes every bite much more equal than if it was just placed at the top. This was by far one of, if not the best, Italian ices we've ever had. We would very much recommend it to anyone in the Downtown area looking to cool off.
