Just took my daughter to Holla Mode for the first time and she loved the experience of watching the ice cream getting made and of course the ice cream itself! Great spot and still amazing over all these years. Pam rolled some great ice cream, told us about the process, and is an avid Star Wars fan as a bonus! Thanks Pam for some awesome ice cream!

    Every flavor was so good.

Thai ice tea ice cream sounded yummay! So we came back to get some but ohhh there's so many other flavors. Every single ice cream was so tasty. My favorite was one had graham crackers in it. This is place is located next to Chuy's delicious Tex-mex. Its a food truck, well an ice cream truck or trailer? Regardless the ice cream was fab. Next time we come to Barton Springs and Chuy's we'll stop at Holla's too.

It is located near the Rowing Dock, so after kayaking we got ice cream. I got the sticky mango rice and also the key lime pie. It was about $20, so it is a bit expensive. The size is big though. The key lime pie was alright. You can definitely taste the sourness though. The mango one was soooo good. It was sweet but not too sweet. There is condense milk in there and you can really taste how creamy it was.

Really loved this spot! They have a lot of flavors, all $7. It sounds pricey, but honestly you get so much ice cream that it's worth it. We split a Violet, Violet blueberry icecream and it was surprisingly good. We walk by this spot every day and it was great to try, and an even better delicious surprise! Gluten free and dairy free options, well labeled on menu. Only 4 stars because it was great, but for the price unsure if we will return again. Definitely a spot to try and split something yummy, but a special treat for us!

While the ice cream was okay, compared to other Thai Ice Cream places, Holla Mode is lacking in comparison. My biggest complaints would be about the rolls and the wait. Pros (+) Customization: Other rolled ice cream places I've tried require that you pick a flavor off their menu and just let you customize the toppings. Holla Mode lets you pick what gets chopped into your ice cream Cons (-) Rolls: The rolls started to crumble as we started eating them. At other places I've been to, the rolls stay intact while being eaten (-) Wait: There was a single person making the ice cream rolls so the wait was extremely long. It would be better to have multiple people working on the rolls or to expedite the process some other way. This has not been an issue at other ice cream roll places even when their lines were wrapped around the block

Thai rolled ice cream is always fun & delicious to eat. I normally don't get vegan "ice cream". However, the mango sticky rice caught my eye. A lot of the options were chocolate, so I was glad to have spotted this fruit one. It was enjoyable watching the frozen dessert being made.

Delicious ice cream, different but holy crap it was good and they have many topping options too. Great, friendly and polite service. Overall - fantastic and we will be back

This was my first time trying this type of ice cream! I was on a trip down to Austin with the boyfriend, and we decided "why not!" Needless to say, it was a highlight of the trip. Their specialty flavors accommodated my vegan friend, and it was just SO good to sit down and enjoy during a warm day!

Decent ice cream, but really there's nothing special about it. I've tried a few of these rolled ice cream places before and I think I've finally decided for myself that they're just not worth it. First off you have to wait a while because your ice cream has to actually be made in front of you. And the texture of the ice cream is kinda dry and crackly. I ordered the Chocolate Brownie, which was fine but moving forward I think I'll just stick to ice cream by the scoop or soft serve.

    Kristin S.

I ordered the s'mores ice cream and while it was good, it's not the best ice cream I've ever had. The reason I tried it in the first place is because it was made differently, meaning they roll the ice cream and give it you. Worth a try to experience the difference but would rather have other ice cream places I've had in Austin.

Birthday cake -top right; S'mores- bottom right; (there were 2 marshmellows on top)

Can't believe this place didn't get more stars!! It was delicious! We got the birthday cake and S'mores. Beware the s'mores is more for chocolate lovers. I was expecting it to be vanilla with chocolate chips, marshmallow pieces and graham crackers, but it was chocolate ice cream. Still delicious though! There was a decent crown on Sat afternoon, but well worth the wait!

    No rolls? Wtf

Came again to give them a try only to know they are closed an HOUR AND 30 mins BEFORE their actual closing time. They didn't try to accommodate us or even take cash as a payment. How is a business okay with losing out on 10 customers? Definitely will not be back after this.

The three of us each grabbed three flavors (F, E, D--haha, funny, right?) and rated each one with sugary zeal. Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint (F, E) - delicious, subtly minty, with a very creamy, mild beet flavor. I never had such a refreshing ice cream that wasn't sorbet. The mint really made a difference. I'm a huge fan of places that curate exotic flavors (a vegetable, really?) into their menu, which only increased my opinion of this place. Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean (E) - one of the smoothest vanilla bean ice creams I've had. It reminds me of a traditional ice milk soft serve. It wasn't the most impressive vanilla ice cream I've ever had, but it was still very good in its own right. Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt (E, D) - such a great balance to the sweetness of the rest of the ice cream options. I always love little chunks of salt in sweets to cut through the sugary intensity, so this one was an instant favorite. GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey (E, D) - a complete 100% hit. Probably my top, alongside the beets. My BFF said it tasted too much like a meal rather than a dessert and couldn't give it a high rating, but as a charcuterie fan, I know there are plenty of "dessert" cheeses. I mean... cream cheese, for example? But is that really a cheese...? Uhhh. Very Strawberry (F) - a clean strawberry flavor. A bit artificial, but still so great. It far outweighed the Sweet Cream w. Strawberry flavor we tasted later. Cookies & Cream (F) - I never liked cookies & cream before, but this changed my mind. It hits so hard when you get a full spoonful. Probably the only cookies & cream I would eat. My BFF's #1. Chocolate Chocolate (F) - love chocolate? Get this. That's all you need to know. Coffee & Cream (D) - oooh, reminds me of the keto coffee ice cream I had once. Would get again. Coffee notes are always great in ice cream. Was this a STRONG standout? No. But did it do its job? Yes. Sweet Cream w. Strawberry (D) - too creamy for me, not enough strawberry. My top flavors by far are: 1) Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint, 2) GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey, and 3) Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt. All three were unique flavors that I would absolutely get again. We sat on the little barstools watching the line get progressively longer as the night went on. It was really interesting to see how many people came in for a sweet treat at 11 PM. The atmosphere was pleasant, parking was pretty easy, and while it never got too crowded, the place was surprisingly popular.

Quite busy at 8:15PM on a Sunday! About ten people ahead of us and only two people working so it took about 10-15mins with people asking for samples and such. While we were there, it was always a packed line so it definitely gets really busy from 8-9PM! We got three larges for a total of twelve flavors, a little bit of overlap: Mine: Dark Chocolate Olive Oil and Sea Salt - Really liked this, the bitter saltiness offset the creaminess really well. Coffee with Cream - A very light but roasty coffee, like a light coffee. I liked this!; Goat Cheese, Thyme and Honey - The herbal flavor is more subtle than I expected! Not too sweet, liked this one Sweet Cream & Strawberry - this one didn't stand out much to me Others: Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint - I really liked this one! The beets and mint hit on the back of your tongue, yum Chocolate Chocolate - Very intense chocolate, not too crazy about it though Cookies & Cream - Surprisingly good! I liked this one Very Strawberry - way more strawberry than the sweet cream. I'd recommend this over the sweet cream and strawberry Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean - Pretty light, a classic. Thought it was okay. If I had a tier list it would be: 1) Coffee with Cream 2) Goat Cheese 3) Dark Chocolate Olive Oil 4) Roasted Beets and Mint 5) Cookies & Cream 6) Very Strawberry 7) Vanilla Bean 8) Chocolate Chocolate 9) Sweet Cream & Strawberry Overall, a few hits, a few misses, but it was a fun tasting experience. We paid via inKind with no issues, which made it a pretty solid value.

There's a good variety of flavors and things they serve from italian ice to ice cream and shakes. We opted for a strawberry italian ice with condensed milk on top. From the first bite we were in heaven. The flavor is very thorough which is not always the case for Italian ices where it can sometimes be a bit muted. Every single bite of this was packed with flavor. They also carve out a bit of the middle to put the condensed milk which makes every bite much more equal than if it was just placed at the top. This was by far one of, if not the best, Italian ices we've ever had. We would very much recommend it to anyone in the Downtown area looking to cool off.
