It is located near the Rowing Dock, so after kayaking we got ice cream. I got the sticky mango rice and also the key lime pie. It was about $20, so it is a bit expensive. The size is big though. The key lime pie was alright. You can definitely taste the sourness though. The mango one was soooo good. It was sweet but not too sweet. I love rolled Thai style ice cream, I have been to many places and this is by far the worst that I have had. First of all, the service is terrible. Simply put, it's not worth it. I will first share the combo I made which actually tasted quite good: organic coconut milk, sweet cream, toffee and chocolate, coconut flakes, and honey. If you're going, trust me and try that combo. Well, if you STILL go after what I have to say... So you go up, order your combo, and they get to work. They make a liquid base and add your toppings into it, then throw it on the freezing plate to begin turning it into ice cream. You have to work fast and keep the liquid/ice mixture always in motion to avoid some parts being too frozen, causing them to stick to the plate and making it difficult to scrape off (that was meant for the girl that was working the night that my friends and I were there). The goal is to get the ice cream evenly frozen to a certain point, then scrape it up into rolls to place in the cup. The owner does it right, but the girl doesn't...and it's obvious. Also, don't touch the ice cream with your glove that's on your hand that's used to hold the scraper. We don't know where the scraper has been. The wait is long as there are only 1-2 workers each time. I applaud the owner for bringing this style of making ice cream here as it's the first time I've seen it in the states. Like I said, he actually makes the ice cream as it should, but of course is not as skilled as the vendors that do it in Thailand. As someone else mentioned, you're paying for the experience here... just, don't take this to be what Thai-style ice cream really is. For starters, the rolls suck. Notice how there are 3-4 uneven rolls in all the cups in the pictures? In Thailand they can fit 5+ is a nice and neatly shaped bundle. Proportions are seemingly off too, for the combos at least. My friend ordered the Thai...coffee I think? It was supposed to have cardamom in it but neither of us could taste any hint of it. Balance the portioning of the toppings in accordance to the strength of the base flavor please (coffee is strong, y'all should know that.) Speaking of flavors, the ice cream itself isn't anything special. It's not extremely creamy nor is it very icey. It's quite normal ice cream actually, and the rolls and look of your ice cream totally morphs within 5 minutes anyway as the ice cream melts and it becomes...well, normal ice cream... So in terms of price, prepare to drop 6.50-7.50 here for a cup. No, it's not as big as you think, and I personally would rather just help myself with a nice pint of Haagen Daz or even Blue Bell. 4/10, would not come again...unless someone was paying for me...just kidding, I'd tell them to pay for me for some other dessert ice cream truck. read more

I do have to say, it's delicious, it's unique, and they're in a great location, but almost every time I visit, the service is slow and not bad, but not good. For example, I took my younger cousin who is 9 years old and she wanted whipped cream. We were told they ran out by one employee and then the other employee said they had some. Basically, the first employee didn't bother to ask or check. I didn't think this was a big deal until I went again today and they told me the same thing. They also ran out of half the menu at 6pm. Based on the reviews, I knew coming in not to expect great service. However, they've definitely taken care of the service aspect by putting up a sign that completely excuses them of having really awful service! (See attached photo). Good job Holla Mode. I ordered the sticky mango and it wasn't too overly sweet which is what i was worried about. They don't have much seating besides 2 picnic tables, and the wait can be pretty long! The service wasn't anything too bad when we came, but it took quite a while considering that there weren't too many people in front of us in line. TBH I was just a bit peeved after seeing the sign because I feel like customer service is one of the most important parts of food service (besides the food ofc) and it doesn't look too great on the company to not take actual care to address the issues relevant to their service. The employees were not helpful to us when my Apple Pay didn't work (because their register wasn't working and I've never had any prior problems). Also the employees (who weren't even wearing masks to serve ice cream) were not friendly, this day. Edited: the owner reached out and instead of being defensive, apologized. He also assured me that they are following all precautions for Covid-19 food places. I didn't see employees wearing masks but hopefully he can correct this. This used to be mine & my husband's favorite ice cream place to bring our child to, but sadly I think today was our last visit. After we ordered & paid for our ice cream one of the workers sprayed cleaner all over the fridgerated cold slab where they prepare the ice cream, literally Purell cleaner landed on the fridgerated tops where they prepared our ice creams 1 minute later. I can see maybe spraying the rag and then wiping the surrounding area down, but this woman literally sprayed the cleaner onto an ice top that did not get scraped down before food was prepared (the frost is usually scraped off before they make an ice cream, this wasnt done, pure laziness), which means not only was frost in our ice cream but also chemicals! I was appalled, the spraying of the chemicals is toxic. It's like having a plate of food on the counter and then spraying cleaner all around the food....the chemicals obviously fall on the food. I should note, there were 4 employees there, and NO ONE in line when we arrived, but it still took a while to get out ice cream. After the cashier rang us up she made the 1st ice cream on the frosty chemical table, while the woman who sprayed the chemicals sat there talking her ear off the entire time. Meanwhile the other 2 employees were standing around chatting. If you have 4 employees and only 2 ice creams to be made then how is only 1 ice cream being made at a time?? This is ridiculous. We finally got that ice cream but then....when it came time to make the 2nd ice cream things got worse. To make matters worse, while a man was preparing the 2nd ice cream, the woman who made the 1st cream came over & literally placed her arms on the counter around the fridgerated top area where he was preparing the food & rested her chin on top of her arms with her face literally 2 - 3 INCHES from the ice cream & watched him make the ice cream, breathing all over the food he was preparing for us. This is unbelievably unsanitary!! Between the chemicals and the unsanitary practices I think I may just report this place to the health board so someone doesnt get sick. Btw, when we left we threw our ice creams away, we couldnt even bring ourselves to eat them after that...and this ice cream is not cheap, we paid about $16 for 2 ice creams. These employees need better training before working in the food service industry. This was on 11/9/19 at 5:15pm. Not too mention, during my visit prior to this one, the guy prepared the food without gloves!!! So this last experience just pushed us over the edge, this place doesnt seem sanitary or safe enough to eat at anymore between chemicals sprayed on the food, an employee literally putting her head inches from our food breathing on it and the visit before where the cashier handled money then made our food without using gloves. Heard so much about this trailer, finally was able to visit a few weeks ago! So happy I did! We ordered the Oreo Speedwagon, DELICIOUS! My daughter wanted just vanilla with lots of sprinkles. The nice lady working that day paid special Attention to ask my daughter if she wanted rainbow or chocolate...rainbow of course was chosen. I watched as the lady was sure to wash and dry her hands, and put gloves on before she made the ice cream, and then she changed gloves again before the next ice cream. As a Mom during everything going on, this was terrific to see, THANK YOU. for the safety and care of this process.
