If you're looking for a diner with good food and even better portions, look no further because you've found it! Amy's was doing well on Sunday at lunch time and the wait for two was about 10 minutes. I ordered the Hungryman ($12.50) which came with 3 eggs, 1 sausage, 4 strips of bacon, 2 slices of pork roll, home fries, and 4 slices of toast. My buddy got the Berry Berry Waffle ($11.50) which came with raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. I don't know if I've ever received more food at a diner, and all for a very reasonable $12.50! Everything was cooked well -- the bacon was crispy (as it should be), the sausage was delicious, and the home fries had a crisp layer on top (which I love). A good local place with decent food. We've been going for years but just visited since the recent remodel. It looks more modern and cleaner but lacks its former charm. Also the new booths are awkward. The tables are too high and close to the seats. It's hard to get in and out and the legs of the table are so big that they get in the way of your legs while seated. My husband, despite this, still ate them because he has no shame. His orange juice, he said, tasted like orange water. What can I say this place is a true Gem. They serve up so pretty large plates for breakfast. I don't think any of us actually finished our plates . The servers are nice and the food comes out pretty quick . They are pretty big inside with plenty of seating . With the quick turn around time they keep everyone coming and going. Amy's menu is huge! Overwhelming at first but the waitress was really nice and helped us work through what we wanted to try. All the choices were really good and they even had Minnie Mouse pancakes which my niece really enjoyed. One thing on the menu I did like was the fact you could order just one French toast or one waffle to go along with your main course which allows you to try more food without paying the price of another main course. I guess I didn't get the best representation of Amy's Omelette House because I came for brunch on 4th of July, a very busy day for that part of New Jersey. First I'll start with pros - it did not take long to seat us, staff was nice and portion size is large/generous. Now for cons - our server was way too casual with us. Casual in a way that we could tell that she really didn't feel like being there, which I completely understand because it was 4th of July, but I just wish she didn't get off that vibe to her tables. When I asked what her favorite 'benedict' item on the menu was, she simply said "they're all really good". That is one of my server pet peeves. I'm sure they are all delicious, but I asked because maybe there is one that people factor over the rest. I would recommend the half order for sure and get some oatmeal in the side because you will most likely have cardiac arrest immediately after finishing the full order.
