lemon grass chicken sandwich and vietnamese ice coffee with condensed milk so more expensive
Heidi H.

I haven't been here for years. I came when they just opened and did a takeout which was good. However, years later prices have increased and not as good as before. Spring rolls kind of tiny eventhough waiter said it would be bigger than the ward special imperial rolls. They were slightly crispy. The sandwich was ok but the pickled veggies were dry. I don't remember paying more for vietnamese ice coffee with condensed milk than for vietnamese coffee. Before it always came with condensed milk. Had to ask 3 times for lemon for water. My friend had the rice bowl and I tried a piece of her chicken. It was too salty. She did not even eat what she ordered. So sad. Service was still slow even after 2 tables finished. My friend said she went to their Chinatown location many times and was disappointed in what she had at this new location. Tables were dirty when we arrived and were not cleared for a while. We did have a nice time catching up but the portable credit card machine failed to provide receipts. The waiter had to reprint at another register. I could not even see the price of the individual items just a total with tax included, a bit frustrating.

Love this neighborhood spot! Ordered their bone marrow pho with upgrade of the actual sliced bone marrow on the bone for additional $7. Also ordered their 3 piece spring rolls and small pho with steak and beef balls. Everything was delish! Love this place!

Both the bone marrow infused pho and the regular pho with lean brisket and eye round were great! The bone marrow broth was noticeably smoother and more buttery, but I preferred the regular pho for its cleaner, lighter finish. The spring rolls tasted very fresh, though the portions were on the smaller side. Unfortunately, we ended up sending back the fried egg rolls. They were extremely skinny and slightly burnt. It was more like an egg stick than an egg roll. I don't mind extra crisp but the portion size for the price was hard to justify. Service is ultimately what cost this place a star. I understand how demanding service work can be, but feeling at least welcomed goes a long way. Twice during our meal we had to get up and search for our waitress. Once to request the veggies for our pho and again to sort out the bill. Both times, there was no real sense of acknowledgment or show of extra effort.

First time here and it was great! The ambiance is pretty casual, the service was on point, and the food was really good! Definitely a little different from the usual pho places that I've eaten at before but in a good way. They have all the condiments, and their house made chili oil was not as spicy as it looks! By the way, you can purchase it if you want to add it to your dishes at home. I'll definitely come back for more. I ordered the basic pho. The broth was flavorful. Next time I'll try the bone marrow pho.

Located at Ward near movie theater. This place was okay. They allow reservations but I didn't think we needed it on a weekday. The drinks took a while to arrive after we ordered but it was tasty, kind of pricy but I guess because location. My friend ordered their version of a bloody marry and it was very tasty with pho soup and their hot sauce in it. The chicken wings were okay, has potential. The spring roll was good but order was small. You are getting two spring rolls that are cut in half to make four pieces. The pho combination was good. Had a nice amount of meat. I just wasn't impressed by the soup. The flavors weren't as strong as I was hoping for, but still good and helped my pho craving. Staff were nice. Parking is same as movie theater. Place is clean.

My friend and I ended up at An Di Dzo on a whim after a post-workout dinner search, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our meal. It was a weekday evening and fairly quiet, which gave us the perfect chance to relax and unwind. When we first walked in, we were told to sit wherever we liked, though we did notice that a few tables still had dishes left over from earlier guests. That said, it was clear the restaurant was running with a lean front-of-house staff, and our server - the only one working the floor - did a great job handling everything on his own. He was incredibly helpful, offering thoughtful recommendations and taking the time to explain the dishes and drinks in detail. For drinks, I ordered the Smokey Cu Long Tea with mezcal and coconut milk, and it was absolutely delicious. It had a perfect balance of sweetness with a light smokiness from the mezcal, rounded out by the creamy richness of the coconut milk. My friend's drink (though I can't recall the name) reminded us of shave ice in the best way - light, refreshing, and full of flavor. We started with two appetizers: the Wagyu Tapas and the Pork & Shrimp Crepe (we added extra veggies to the crepe). Both were excellent, but the crepe easily stole the show. It was super crispy, packed with flavor, and incredibly easy to share - the added veggies really rounded it out and made it feel fresh and hearty. The tapas were also delicious, but the portion felt a bit small with only three pieces. For our main, we shared the Bone Marrow with Steak and Eggs, and wow - this dish blew us away. I've had bone marrow at other places before, but this was hands down the best I've ever tasted. The texture was firmer than usual, which worked beautifully, and the flavor was rich without being overwhelming. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a sweet-savory glaze that complemented everything on the plate. The sunny side-up eggs and toasted bread were perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. Overall, our experience at An Di Dzo was unexpectedly fantastic - especially considering it was a spontaneous stop on a quiet night. The quality of the food, the creativity in the drinks, and the attentiveness of the service made it a memorable dinner. We're already planning to come back on a weekend to try more of the dishes we had to pass up this time. Highly recommend checking this spot out - especially if you're into bold flavors and creative Vietnamese-inspired fare.

brisket pho

This was my first time dining at An Di Dzo, so I was actually surprised this place existed here. It was a cute corner place near the bakery at Wards. We were seated right away. It wasn't busy, however, we noticed it was a one man show where only had one waiter taking orders. The waiter was great! He was friendly and didn't mind explaining the different types of dishes they had to offer. We ordered two appetizers and then our own pho bowls. The pancake dish was really good, not floury, and very light in flavor. The clams were full of flavor and even if we ordered mild, my sister in law said it still had a kick in spice, which I actually liked. The pho was food for the soul. I ordered a small pho and it was the perfect amount. It was actually a lot for me too. There was a lot of brisket inside for every bite. I enjoyed this place and will definitely come here again :)

On Valentine's Day, my husband and I were looking for the best place to have a delicious dinner. We tried Istanbul, but the line was too long. Merriman's was also packed. So, we decided to walk around the building by the movie theater. As we reached the front, before the movie entrance, we spotted an amazing place. It wasn't crowded, and the atmosphere looked very calm, with raw cement, wood, and a beautiful bar area. Peeking at the food through the window, we were surprised by how delicious it looked and how reasonable the prices were for such a nice place in the Ward area. We took a chance and went inside, and let me tell you, it was some of the best pho we've had in a while! My husband ordered the Beef Marrow, and I got the chicken pho mini because I wasn't very hungry. Surprisingly, even the mini size was quite generous. We also ordered the wagyu and spring rolls, which were perfectly presented--already cut and served with mint leaves, which we usually have to tear ourselves at other restaurants. This place is so nice; it reminds us of a Mediterranean-style interior--simple yet classy--with a relaxing music selection. We were very surprised that it wasn't more crowded; you'd expect a line of people waiting outside! It's definitely one of our favorite spots now, and we will be back again! Thanks to the really cool crew: Julia, Jacob, the mom & pops, and everyone working in the back! It's a must-try!

Bone Marrow and Eye Round Pho

Got the bone marrow pho and it was super yummy! Wish the meat quantity was more but the flavor was amazing. Service was great too!

Disgusting pho (no beef, ALL tendon)

There was no beef in my pho! I wouldn't normally continue going back and forth but I feel the need to clarify after your response especially since it misrepresents what i said. Also my husband only continued eating the broth because he was so hungry. There was no actual beef in my pho and barely any in his. I don't mind some fat or tendon but my bowl was clearly not prepared correctly. I even showed the uneaten bowl to the manager at the time. The manager did offer to switch it to steak but by then our kids were already finished eating so staying longer wasn't an option for me. I took the time to explain everything to both the waiter and the manager yet my concern still wasn't properly addressed. What I don't understand is why I was still charged full price for a meals we couldn't eat. The entire experience was disappointing which is why I left a review--to help other customers avoid a similar situation. Offering store credit for a future visit doesn't resolve the issue for me. Given how this was handled, I am still requesting a refund.

Banana Blossom Salad

I just saw another viral video of this place described as, "one of the best pho on the island" and felt compelled to come here to say that it is definitely not that amazing. Not worth the extra surcharges on every dish. Service was not the worst but not pleasant. The window walls were filthy and I did not enjoy the ambiance. It was not busy so we definitely should have had better service. The Vietnamese pancake was soggy and the combination pho was mediocre at best. I give this place two stars only because the Banana Blossom Salad was delicious but that's it. You can get way better pho at any other place on the island. Save yourself the hyped up trip as this is another one of those "viral" glorified and overhyped places. We were so hungry and excited going in and left quite disappointed with the overall experience here.

Laura C.

Very nice Pho restaurant that's open after 9pm. My husband thought the broth was too salty and suspect that because it was toward the end of the night so we got the bottom of the pot. I added water to mine so it was perfect to my taste! The meat was tender and the pho noodles were just right, not too soft nor too hard. I believe the price is reasonable for Hawaii, I'd come back again.

Beef Pho

Terrible place I had the worst food poisoning! Meat was old and had a blue-ish film on top. After showing the waiter, he assured me that it's fine and I ended up being sick for 2 weeks with bad stomach parasites.

I had been looking forward to eating here for months before I finally visited. I am pleased to…read morereport tasty food, great service from friendly servers, a clean bathroom, and walls brimming with beautiful paintings with scenes of Vietnam. Upon stepping foot in Phở Quê Hương, I was transported back to Vietnam (or Orange County, California-- have your pick). Phở Quê Hương is located in Honolulu's Chinatown, so we get an interesting demographic mix of diners. (I believe I observed at least one Hoa family order in Vietnamese and then converse in a Chinese language.) I wasn't so attentive to the precise linguistic profiles of my fellow diners because of how distracted I was by the food. However, it is a salient pattern I am observing in Honolulu: seeing many non-Viet people coming to eat Viet food. I know Vietnamese cuisine has become more globally mainstream, but I suppose I am so used to existing in Vietnamese ethnic enclaves. The menu offers a great selection of Vietnamese food, including dishes I had never had before. The bún chả Đà Nẵng is not at all similar to a bún chả Hà Nội, so don't get them mixed up! Bún chả Đà Nẵng was more like a bún riêu without the riêu: a nice tomato soup with a serious umami flavor going on. (I was getting notes of cheese even, in a really good way.) My first time having a non-vegetarian bò lá lốt was here. It was tasty, although I was getting a spicy note that I wasn't sure where it was coming from. The tràng đặc biệt was delicious and familiar. I always love wrapping things (amateurishly) with rice paper. The name "Phở Quê Hương" is apt, but it isn't just phở but rather all the dishes that feel like they arrived straight from Vietnam. If you are interested in more traditional Vietnamese fare, give this place a try.

I have been living in Hawaii for five years and have eaten at this restaurant countless times. But…read moreafter today, I am utterly disgusted and will never step foot in this place again. Your service is absolute garbage. This morning, I called to place an order. I initially tried using Vietnamese to order two PDBs, but the woman who answered couldn't understand me. I switched to English and asked for two "Pho Combinations." She understood that, took the order, and told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I also wanted to order Quẩy, so I asked, "Can I get one Quẩy?" Again, she didn't understand. So I clarified in English: "Add one Chinese doughnut." Guess what her response was? She condescendingly told me, "This is a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Chinese restaurant." What the hell is your problem? On your very own menu, that item is literally listed as a "Chinese doughnut." As a server, you don't even know your own restaurant's menu, yet you have the audacity to respond to a customer with such an arrogant, rude, and racially discriminatory attitude. It's disgusting. Everyone knows you are a Vietnamese restaurant. But Quẩy is widely known as a Chinese doughnut, and that is exactly how it is written on your menu. Learn your own menu. To make matters worse, when I arrived 20 minutes later, the front desk told me my phone order hadn't even been made yet and that I had to wait. What on earth was the point of me calling ahead? It's a complete joke. If you are going to be this arrogant and rude, and if you hate Chinese culture so much, why is your restaurant located in Chinatown? Why don't you move to a Vietnamese neighborhood? This is Chinatown. This restaurant has incredibly low-quality staff and a glaring issue with discrimination. It is absurd that an employee can work here without even knowing the menu. To openly disrespect and discriminate against Chinese customers--when you are located in Chinatown and 80% of your repeat customers are Chinese--is pathetic. Take your business elsewhere.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

Chinatown has a lot of crime and homeless in the area so I would firstly recommend to go when the market is busy! 7am-12pm is a sweet spot where the food, produce and everything in the area comes alive. I'm Vietnamese and it was a very affirming and comforting experience for me when so many other Vietnamese folks came first thing in the morning to get their grub at Thuong An Lac. That's when you know you've found THE spot. Major Recommendations: -Viet Iced Coffee (prob the best you'll find on island easily) -Beef Stew + Baguette (so HEARTY. I've had both vegan and non vegan beef stews and it's spot on) We loved everything we got there. The water they serve you has pandan in it and tastes very very good. I still think about it!! There's so much love squeezed into everything they have there. They also sell a lot of snacks that they make and it's honestly FIRE as well. A lot of customers came in for the snacks too. The restaurant is small and can only have a few parties in at a time. It's no frills but feels like you're just visiting your Aunt or Grandma's house. Prices are fair, not overpriced. The sauce with ginger was great imo (I'm a cold ginger chicken poke type person). It's like a cold ginger chili garlic vinaigrette. Would come by here again and try something else. Been wanting to try Vietnamese food that wasn't Pho or Bahn Mi…read more Got the beef salad and for someone who doesn't eat rabbit food, I gotta admit it was good. The dressing was really good. You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.

Pho Time is our go-to pho spot in Central Oahu when we're craving pho and don't want to drive into…read moretown. We tried the BBQ pork summer rolls. They only come with two, but they're huge. I'm usually more of a spring roll person, but these were so good and something I'd definitely order again. I had the brisket pho, and my boyfriend got the beef and flank pho. Both were delicious, and the broth was flavorful and comforting. I'm pretty particular about Thai tea, but theirs is always really good. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly. The service is always good and the food comes out fast. If you're in the Aiea area and looking for a solid pho spot, Pho Time is worth a visit!

This place has terrible service. I ordered a chicken salad and sandwich with soup, to go. When I placed my order, I told the woman, "no cilantro" on anything. When I received my order, the soup was missing. When the woman brought the soup, I said again, "no cilantro." She said, yes. I paid and left. When I got home, I opened the salad and noticed a pile of basil and what appeared to be cilantro. It tasted like cilantro, too. So, I went back to the restaurant to return my order, as I no longer wanted any of it. When I got there, the woman told me that isn't cilantro, it's "culantro." She said she would refund my salad, but not the sandwich and proceeded to argue with me that she was doing me a favor because the salad did not have cilantro, even though she very well knows they taste the same. In any case, I left my entire order and was only refunded for the salad. I will dispute with my cc company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

In this crazy rainy weather, we wanted something warm and hearty. We got here at 5 pm on a Thursday and got a table. We ordered rare beef pho, chicken pho, and their crispy noodle dish with chicken. My beef pho had a nice strong spice taste. I added hoisin and sriracha to my broth for a nice addition. The crispy noodle dish reminded me of cake noodles the way the chicken and vegetables were in a thick gravy. Service was easy and quick. They got our orders in quickly, brought the food out quickly, and got us on our way without being overly pushy. Parking is easy, plentiful, and convenient in Manoa Marketplace. Pho viet is located on the second floor and there are stairs as well as an elevator to get up. I like eating here when I don't want to go downtown and deal with lots of people. It's a quiet area and a big open inside space. There were tvs without sound if you wanted to watch something.

The restaurant is located in the Manoa Market Place shopping center on the second floor. Upon entering you see Hawaii inspired muraled walls. A large bar and some television monitors. Spacious table and booth seating. Greeted and seated Menus and water soon followed. We shared the Chicken banh mi and spring rolls. The bahn mi sandwich had thick slices of cucumber and bell peppers . My wife said her half had carrots. I looked again to see if I had any. Nope Chicken had a good taste. I prefer a croissant bun. Spring Rolls had a slightly different taste than others I've eaten. Stiill good. This restaurant is upscale so are the prices. Enjoy
