First time here. We've known about the place, and finally got around to eating here. We ordered California Roll and 2 small Chicken Pho. The California Roll was really good. I particularly liked the Wasabe (well, American Wasabe - since real Japanese Wasabe is almost nonexistent in the U.S.). Just nicely done. As for the Pho, I really like that they have small and large. We ordered small since Pho is traditionally kind of huge, and we have trouble eating it all. The small felt more right sized, but was still plenty enough for us. If you prefer dark meat, that might a subjective slight negative for some. I prefer white meat chicken. It was perfect for me. Nice reasonably thin slices that just about melt in your mouth (not tough at all). They had Sriracha and Hoisin which I added to my Pho. Just a really good meal. Service was good. TLDR: This is a hidden gem of a spot for Asian (particularly Vietnamese) cuisine. An Thinh is a new (December 2020) pan-Asian restaurant that's just off the 183 in Leander. Normally, I'm a little skeptical of pan-Asian places because they tend to do everything mediocre. However, I've tried them twice now and can recommend everything except the sushi. (That's because I haven't tried it yet.) The egg rolls are some of the best I've had: Vietnamese style, with an extra-crispy coating and a mix of pork and veggies. The fried calamari's tender and the portion size could feed 2 people (or 4 for a shared appetizer). The grilled pork banh mi is very good, and has some nice zip from the peppers. My personal favorite so far is the flat noodle dish (they offer it with either chicken, beef, or shrimp). This is a Chinese-style dish similar to Chow Fun, and it's excellent - stir fried flat rice noodles with bean sprouts, veggies, meat, and a lot of dark soy sauce to give it a savory kick. One of the best SE Asian places I've been to in a while, I hope they do well. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. I live close so this is a walkable lunch spot for me as work from home, I've had good and bad experiences but my most recent experience was amazing so I'm finally leaving a review. Ive ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box a few times but it's almost always overcooked. I'd stear clear of the chicken here, unfortunately. That said... The shrimp and sushi are usually really well made. The Pho broth is so good and the spicy edamame is one of the best things on the menu. I'd recommend both to anyone who asks. Not for me. This place is next to a bar where you can hear the music pumping through the walls. It's annoying. The staff need serious training. Very young, inexperienced and poor socialization skills. Shy and timid high schoolers that you need to drive the entire experience/conversation all the way through with. We've eaten here off and on the last couple of years. Dine-in AND take-out. It's typically very good, especially the bahn-mi and pho. However, tonight was a little underwhelming with our take-out. I ordered the orange chicken, subbed fried rice, added broccoli, total $18.95 before taxes. When I got home and opened the box, there seemed to be more broccoli than chicken, which there only 9 pieces of the chicken. The broccoli had hardly been cooked. Very small portion of rice, and for a $2 upcharge from steamed to fried, it was very disappointing and bland. For $20 and some change, there should be a bit more, especially when the total ticket was over $60 after tax and tip(we ordered two other entrees, one of which was a little light as well for $18). I really want to come back, but a 1-hour round trip drive for overpriced portions on takeout is really hard to justify. Again, I want to reiterate, the food in the past has been quite exceptional, but it's been a few months since we last came into town, so, I'm not sure if something has changed. World Class Sushi, Pho, Bun & Asian Delights. We have tried this place twice and we're delighted both times. The first time we had a few Sushi Rolls, Egg Rolls, Pad Thai and a few chowed Chinese Dishes. On the second visit we tried their Bahn Mi, Pan Fried Chicken Dumplings, Miso Soup, a California Roll, a Spider Roll made from fresh Tempura Soft Shell Crab and finished with out favorite, a Dragon Roll with Eel, Crab, Cucumber. All was absolutely wonderful and was made even better with impeccable service from Alma from Venezula. She was quick, charming and never let my Iced Tea glass hit bottom. This restaurant has lots of seating spaces and it looks very clean. Husband had the chicken lo main and he was very pleased with his choice. The portion was perfect for him and flavor wise, he said it was the best he has had in the area. Daughter had the rainbow and spider rolls and I had the tuna roll and rainbow roll. We love it! Fish is really fresh, melting in your mouth and they are not cut in those paper thin slices. There is enough fish in each roll. The rice/fish ratio is just right. The rising cost of food/supply chain issue is real... This is my second trip here for lunch. The first time I tried the stir fried flat noodles which were overall very tasty though a teensy bit on the greasy side. I have also tried their truffle salmon nigiri and that was delicious! No complaints there! Today, I ordered the steak bento box for lunch and was given a box with 4.5 small pieces of steak. That's it. I asked the server why my meal had been skimped of steak. I was under the impression I would get several pieces since I was already paying $16.50 (I had also seen a previous picture on Yelp which definitely showed a good 12-13 chunks of steak). I was told that the cost of food was getting more expensive so all bento boxes would only be given 5 pieces of meat. I did express my disappointment. On top of that I asked for medium rare, but got well done pieces. The dumplings tasted similar to the frozen potstickers you get at Costco. I know it's not the server's fault. I still left an 18% tip because she is really sweet, but the restaurant needs to rethink how they are dealing with the food cost issue. I left feeling ripped off. Will I be back? Sure. I'll probably come back to try their Banh Mi or more of their sushi since the nigiri was good. I'm leaving this review at a rounded down 2.5 stars. I placed a take out order over the phone for our Friday night during peak dinner rush. They had the food ready within 30 minutes from my call. The restaurant has a nice hole in the wall atmosphere, in a good way. I could definitely see myself sitting at the sushi bar there with my wife. We ordered the Chicken Lo Mein and Beef Pad Thai. We got medium and extra spicy. Neither were very spicy, which was fine for me but my wife wanted more heat. They both were pretty good, my only complaint is that both had a bit too much oil/grease. Since day 1 i have tried to support this business. I believe in small business and helping them. I will never return here. The last few times that ive visited were bad, but this one topped it. Ill be detailed; There were 4 tables sat when we came in. Table 1 had 2, which were partially served. Another table had 3, Mom another lady and a young boy, a family of 4, another couple then us. All but 1 had food on the table. They brought my wifes Miso soup. Minutes later the young lady brought the severely wilted basil (i think 1 leaf was 1/4 edible) the cilantro was from the bad stack at walmart and 1 slice of jalapeno and about 7 2" bean sprouts. Remember, I was starving so at this point, a puece of dead cow and salt would have sufficed. 10 minutes later, my wifes sushi roll came out. By then another 2 tables had been sat. 1 had gotten their bowls of Pho. 15 minutes later im asking for the third time about my food... The girl says, any minute now... Wheres the owner you ask!!?? Singing asian karaoke in the room next door ... i mean, full on concert i think .. (not being racist, she was singing asian language music). I was not impressed at all with the sushi and while our rice entree was good it only had 7 shrimp in the whole dish. We just love this place, the sushi is way better than you would think and they are all about the service! Super cute inside and they have a little mini bar too. They do take out and delivery services will deliver it for you if needed. My daughter's favorite is their boba tea and escolar sashimi. I eat here between once and twice a week. Occasionally service is slow, but that's the fault of the current admin and people being lazy not wanting to work. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at this establishment! I have gone a couple of times now, once with my husband for sushi and the other time was with a group of girlfriends. My husband and I have been getting take out here for two years, we usually stick the to same thing everytime (Pad Thai and fried rice) both are delicious but since becoming pregnant I haven't want any pad thai.
