Relaxing atmosphere with good seafood without the frills of a stuffy restaurant atmosphere. We went around evening and they were quite busy with a diverse group of patrons. It was very lively and there was even a large party at the back celebrating a birthday. Despite being busy, they do a great job sticking to COVID guideline and everyone was wearing masks including the patrons. I felt very safe and comfortable here. Service was great and hospitable! We had the calamari and seared flounder with crab. The calamari was great - albeit it feels like the seasoning wasn't very even as some bites were more saltier than others. However, it was nothing too bad and i stilled enjoyed it. The garlic Parmesan flounder was light and fresh! It was seared beautifully and so good paired with the crab. It comes with their fluffy garlic mashed potato and we enjoyed it. They also have other seasonal seafood too like crawfish and have select oyster that they shuck fresh. I am so happy to have a good seafood restaurant in this area and it looks like the locals are too. There are a lot of outdoor seating and I look forward to coming back and enjoying outdoor dining and trying the other dishes. I am eyeing the fried catfish. read more

What a surprise! Close to our work but never stopped in until recently. Pleasant wait staff seated us and explained the specials. I ordered the Double Oscar Red Snapper while my girlfriend ordered the clam chowder; her favorite. While waiting, they brought us a selection of soups available that evening. WHOA... they were fantastic.... and my girlfriend quickly changed her order to the gumbo! Chowder was incredible but Gumbo was perfect for a cool, rainy evening. My wife and I are fairly new to Garland, and have begun exploring places recommended by others. To celebrate our anniversary in a more casual way, we stopped here on a Friday night. What a pleasant experience. We didn't know what to expect, and but we found extremely good servers and very good entrees. It was an appropriate menu selection--not overwhelming but enough choices to let you struggle. Because we mentioned that we were first time guest, we were offered samples of the three available soups--NE clam chowder, gumbo, and poblano cream. All were tasty and we will make a soup choice in on another visit. We ordered some hush puppies as an appetizer just to see how they were done--no complaints at all there. My wife had their plank salmon, and I had the fish and chips. Both were excellent! The presentation of the salmon was especially good, and they asked her how she liked her salmon--something not every restaurant does. The beer battering on the shrimp was perfect, as was the cod inside. Our servers were attentive and helpful, and the service was accomplished in a timely fashion. No long waits--that's probably good, because on Friday night there were no tables that were empty. We left without lingering in part because there were people waiting to be seated. If I had a suggestion that might take this to a five star review, it would be to work a little harder on the sides. "Seasonal vegetables" meant broccoli with no special treatment, and the whipped potatoes were nothing remarkable. As for the chips of the fish and chips--they were the large style steak fries, not the smaller, crispier chips I would have expected and enjoyed more. The Cole slaw served with the fish and chips was the non-creamy chopped variety and lacked flavor in my opinion. Anaya's is definitely a good place for seafood, and I hope to discover more from its menu in coming visits. You should try it if you haven't. read more

I honestly didn't know what to expect from the food at Anaya's the first time I tried it. With a fairly large menu, I asked the staff for recommendations and the first time, Alfredo recommended the Garlic Parmesan Flounder. It was absolutely delicious, the fish tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly, and was an excellent vehicle for the sauce which was rich, creamy, and had a very deep umami savoriness to it. I've ordered that dish multiple times and I really appreciate the consistency of their kitchen. Our favorite dish though is Alfredo's second recommendation, Anaya's Chicken. I'll be honest and admit that when he recommended it I was prepared to be unimpressed because most chicken dishes are over cooked, dry, and bland. I immediately changed my mind when I tried it for the first time. Again, the cook on that chicken was absolutely perfect. It was cooked throughout, but still very tender and juicy. The sauce they put on is very flavorful, and the use of sun dried tomatoes just gives it a tart tanginess that's like an explosion of flavor on your taste buds. This is my wife's favorite dish and I would have to agree, it is probably one of the tastiest chicken dishes I've had in DFW. read more

I will start with, really the only negative thing. They host sat me near the bathroom. Which I don't mind necessarily if the restaurant was full, but it wasn't. My first impression was the iced tea wasn't rancid. It was fresh and the right amount of sweet. Your experience may vary but as a first time visitor I got a trio of soups sampler. All three were amazing. I had the best shrimp tacos I have ever had in my life. The order came with a side of black beans covered in cheese and sour cream. They were very good as well. I am full. Been here probably 5 times..was very good until this visit. Mostly take the food to go for family of 5-7. Had special of cornbread crusted cod and shrimp. Picture showed 3 shrimp only got two tiny shrimp butterflied to look bigger, but only dried them out. Cod was laid over pile of butternut squash causing breading to fall off. Squash was very good but Brussel sprouts were tough and cod broken up. Cranberry relish was good but overall dish was not good. Son had fried catfish that was good with Mac and cheese. Other son said his fish with rice dish wasn't that good. Coconut shrimp looked very flat, butterflied and dry. 2 margaritas to go were very small and usually smiling staff didn't seem very happy. We have been wanting to come here and we are so glad we did. We had the tacos, oysters, mac n cheese, crab cake, and key lime pie. All were delicious, although the oysters were priced fairly high. The shrimp in the tacos was crunchy and not served soggy. The Mac was creamy and the key lime was a decent proportion. It's slightly hidden but has a nice outdoor seating area if you are looking to distance. The staff sat us far apart from one another. They were friendly, informative, and checked on us several times but not overly intrusive. I would definitely recommend and will be back for a second visit. read more
