I'm from out of the area and found Silver Fox Steakhouse online while looking for a great place to have a steak dinner. I didn't realize until I arrived that proper attire was expected. I showed up in jeans and a Bass Pro Shops T shirt, but they were kind enough to accommodate me anyway, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself was beautiful. It had an upscale feel without being overly dark like some steakhouses can be, and I have to say, even the restrooms smelled amazing. It's obvious they pay attention to the little details. What truly made this a 5 star experience was our waiter, Ian. He was attentive without hovering, genuinely conversational, and incredibly knowledgeable about every cut of steak on the menu. He also shared several of their off the menu specialty cuts. He didn't just explain the food. He shared stories behind it. My favorite was when he talked about the Copper River salmon and its incredible journey upstream. It honestly felt like I was watching an episode of Discovery Channel. By the time he finished, we looked at each other and said this had to be the Rolls Royce of salmon, and I was completely convinced to order it. I ordered the Copper River salmon, served with mushroom pilaf rice and sautéed spinach. We also shared the 6 ounce filet mignon with truffle butter, along with the creamed corn and asparagus. The bread arrived warm, like it had just come out of the oven, and was the perfect way to start the meal. The salmon was absolutely delicious. The skin was a little thicker than I expected, but once you got through it, the fish practically melted in my mouth. The filet mignon with the truffle butter was incredible. My only regret is that we only ordered the 6 ounce portion. We will definitely be back, especially to try one of the off the menu specialty cuts that Ian recommended. Steaks are a must. Medium cook is a bit more on the rare side, so you might want to get medium well or notify kitchen about it. Mac and cheese had good creamy texture but was bland. The prime burger was dry, and the fries were not good- they were single fried and not twice fried making them greasy and limp. I came to this restaurant with a group of 10 for Valentine's Day. Our server was very nice. The restaurant was clean. We had major issues outside of that. One of the people in our party had shards of glass in his beer. When we brought it up to management, he didnt apologize. When my friend said he was concerned because he drank some of it and felt it, the manager said it's not the type of glass that you would get sick from. We were shocked by the response. Another person's food was severely undercooked. My pork chop was raw, cold and mushy in the middle. We didn't want to keep complaining so we just paid and left. I'm extremely disappointed in the management of this restaurant. A simple "sorry" and compassion was all that we were looking for and we never got it. Extremely, extremely disappointed. Have had several early casual dinners with friends recently in this lovely dining room/lounge and everything has been great! The French Onion Soup is excellent, maybe the best in town, in my opinion. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and I really enjoy the corn off the cob. It is a treat that they will split a wedge salad, chopped, with Ranch dressing, no bleu cheese, for two ladies who prefer it that way. Came here for a bday dinner (was told we were celebrating a bday when making the reservation). We were all very nicely dressed but surrounded by other folks with men wearing t-shirts. Collars should be required since it is supposed to be a higher end place. When arriving, we were walked all the way back to the very last area just outside kitchen across from bathrooms- which wasn't a good initial vibe. Arrived a bit close to closing time. Didn't realize they closed at 10pm on a weekend. Sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. The bar tender was kind and helpful with the spirits and gave my husband a sample tasting of their mezcal. I ordered a gin martini but got a gin margarita lol. I think maybe I didn't speak loud enough but the drink was immediately corrected at no extra charge. The vibes seemed pretty quiet but again, it was close to closing time so not many people were there. Husbands did order a burger to share with me and I just say it wasn't the greatest. Tonight we ate at Silver Fox instead the usual upscale restaurant we go to for celebrations. Today was my birthday and My Husband told them two or three times. But they did absolutely nothing to acknowledge it. That was kind of a disappointment because the other restaurant makes such a fuss. But let's get onto the food. I had the double cut pork chop. It came with some mashed potatoes. The pork chop was excellent. It had a glaze on it that was perfect. We shared a side of the off the cob creamed corn. And it was very very good. Overall, everything was good except one thing. My husband had salmon. At first glance, it was a nice piece and looked good. But when he cut into it, you could tell it was undercooked and I could tell that it was frozen. He said it was cold in the middle. He could not eat it. Yes they took it off the bill, but it was quite a disappointment. I am amazed that a restaurant like Silver Fox would be selling fish that had been frozen. Not on ice. Frozen solid. I know the difference, I grew up in Florida in a family of seafood people. My father was a shrimper, My recommendation would be that their steaks are probably good. Their pork chop definitely is, but I would steer clear of any seafood at Silver Fox. Service was good and ambience is great. read more

The ambiance of Silver Fox Steakhouse has a low lighting atmosphere and white tablecloths so perfect for a nice date night. They had individual lights at each table so don't worry you will be able to see what you are eating! We started with a wedge salad and two dirty martinis. Both were a great start to our meal. My husband went with the Ribeye Cap cooked medium rare. It was cooked perfect and had great flavor. We both had the Maker's Mark® Roasted Mushrooms with our meal which were delicious and we'd highly recommend! I went with the Honey Glazed Atlantic Salmon. The food, primarily the steak selection and daily steak features are great. Having a server to help guide your dinner decisions is important. We always ask for expert server, Ian Eshelman. It's hard to find good servers but when you do, you'll want him to take care of you all the time. What's great about having an expert server, Ian is he is extremely knowledgeable about his entire menu and he can explain all aspects of the menu confidently, will take your entire order, remove the menus and timely order your courses throughout the evening. This way you can enjoy your conversations for the evening. The atmosphere at Silver Fox is amazing! The dark wood and low light setting is perfect for date nights and just dinner. Silver fox never disappoints. It is my go to steakhouse. I've had Israel multiple times and he is very knowledgeable about the steaks and recommends how they should be cooked. I order the 8 oz filet with the garlic spinach and a lemon drop. Safe to say, there wasn't much food left! The restaurant is very elegant in its own way. The light is dimly lit but still bright enough for you to find your way around. The music is low so you can still conduct your conversations. I loved the crab cakes. The first time we came here a couple months ago, the food was amazing! Perfectly flavored and cooked tomahawk ribeye. We had scallops and crab cakes as appetizers, and they were delicious. Ordered a plethora of sides and several drinks, and they were all good! We came again this past Friday and did not have the same experience with the food. Tomahawk was flavorless and chewy. Ordered a wagyu appetizer, and it was very chewy as well. It didn't look marbled like wagyu should. Drinks were still great. Service was very good both times! If the food was consistent, would've rated a 5. Thankfully our first experience was amazing. Let's talk steaks and pork chops were cooked to perfection and went well with the sides. We ordered the filet mignon, baseball cut Oscar style, pork chop and del Monaco with the truffle butter. Came here for the first time for a friend's birthday party and this place did not disappoint. Atmosphere - 5/5 - Very nice ambiance and fancy-ish for a steakhouse. I recommend this place for both dates and groups. Please note there is a minimum for groups and they do not split. Staff - 5/5 - Very friendly and attentive. Glass and baskets seem to always be full. Food - It was a group setting, so I was able to try the following: Calamari ($22) - 3/5 - Was it good? Yes. Have I really had bad calamari? Not really. Is it worth $22. NO. Beef Croustade ($19) - 4/5 - Not the biggest portion, but definitely enjoyed this. It is raw FYI. The Wedge ($15) - 4/5 - Nothing special here. I just usually get a salad with a steak so I went with this. Glad I did. 36 ounce Tomahawk ($125) - 5/5 - Massive. Delicious. Worth it. And it comes to you on fire so you can take the center of attention away from everyone, including the birthday boy haha. Mac & Cheese ($13) - 4/5 - Made with Gouda. Decent size. An establishment full of servers buzzing around everyone else's table and catering to patrons that arrived after us but not a single server came to acknowledge us in 20 plus minutes. Disclaimer: We were there for a presentation, so the meal was comped by the host. Also, although we live very close to this location, we had never tried it as Texas is in the same shopping center and is our go-to higher-end steakhouse. All that said- Service was very good, helpful, and professional. The ambiance is woodsy, warm, romantic, and quieter than almost any restaurant I have been to recently, including Texas. We appreciated that a lot, as so many places are so noisy, and it seems folks have absolutely no problem carrying on with their loudest outside voices when dining these days. Not here. Of course, we were in a private room, but during the times before and after the presentation, folks didn't get out of hand. I feel it was the same in the main dining room as well. Now for the food. We had a few choices, and both of us selected the filet mignon, medium rare. the filets were cooked perfectly, very lightly seasoned, which may or may not be your thing. They were quite tasty, and mine had only a tiny amount of sinew. Sides were not an option- creamed corn which was seasoned with something I couldn't put my finger on, but was tasty, and mashed potatoes. I am not doing carbs right now so I only sampled them both, but they were both tasty. There was a salad, and it was good, as well as a fresh hot bread loaf and butter. I sampled the bread, it was like most other places that bring out a hot loaf. We did have a choice of deserts and both picked the berries. It turned out to be all strawberries with rich whipped cream. I at the berries and they were delicious. When I look over their menu, I think there might be some dishes here that would get me to switch from my usual favorite, particularly if I wanted a quieter evening. but I think the bill will be a few dollars more. read more

Well... my husband and I just left the Silver Fox in Richardson to celebrate his birthday and I just say I was horribly disappointed. This used to be my favorite steak place! Admittedly, I have not eaten out at steak places as much in the past couple of years, but I was always pleased with the both the quality and consistency of the experiences at Silver Fox beyond others. However, tonight did not begin auspiciously. The wedge salad, which is normally a favorite, was presented disappointingly - please see picture. We did request our cheeses and dressings on the side, but we have always done that. Note that the salad in the picture is meant to be shared... when we mentioned this to our server, she responded that she was not aware of how the salads used to look (not like that for sure) but the manager did comment on the size and accoutrements and made adjustments. Little did I know that for me, the salad was to be the highlight of the evening. Let me say that I am pleased that my husband enjoyed his filet, although his $18 gin martini that he requested actually turned out to be made with vodka. Not what he wanted, but he is not apt to complain. (Unlike his demanding wife - ME!!!) The menu has changed significantly since I was last in... I ordered a ribeye and also a side of the sugar snap peas that USED to accompany the ribeye, but apparently no longer. Additionally, I requested the burning salt that always came with my steak before, but also no longer accompanies, so the special request was necessary. My specific issues: The meals came before the salads were completed, because the manager remade our salads; No burning salt came with my steak, I had to request again; I ordered hot tea with my meal, and a large soup soon came with rather than a teaspoon. Hope they did not run out of the appropriate silverware; My husband and I each drink water with no ice, but our server did not seem to notice what our hostess and table help seemed to have provided; My ribeye arrived cooked appropriately, but with no marbling. The explanation was that they age their meats so that the marbling disappears. In the six-plus years I've been coming, my ribeyes have always had marbling, have been delicious and have been exactly as I wanted. Why on earth would I keep coming otherwise? I finally was ready to go and out server brought the check - but forgot to include a pen so I could sign. Sigh... I also had planned to have their (formerly) fabulous chocolate dessert, but changed my mind because because the great energy I had expected from this experience was sorely lacking! To be fair - both the server and the manager offered to make me something else, but I declined. I did not want to extend dinner and be eating when my husband had finished. Also, it was obviously was not in the stars for me to have a delicious ribeye dinner, so I chose to focus on the Birthday Boy's enjoyment of his food! To sum this up - I've had years and years of top-notch experiences at this restaurant, so this review is only for tonight's dining experience. I may try again, but one more disappointment like that and Silver Fox will be off my list for good! read more

We had two gentlemen service us and they were spot on, above and beyond. One of the best services I've had in my life. I asked for extra forks and the server already had it on him. That indicates he was constantly monitoring the room and anticipating needs. Ambience was very nice. Dimly lit. Would be perfect for dates. The crab cakes app and onion rings were very good. Salad was fantastic. Ribeye steak very good. Great sear. Perfectly cooked to the requested medium. Could use more pepper and garlic but that's personal preference. Dessert (chocolate ganache cake) was OK. I give this establishment a solid 5/5. Keep in mind the dinner was paid for by another host so I never saw the pricing and cannot comment on that. First tip: Ask for Karla!! She was our waitress and provided the best service! However all the wait staff was super pleasant, I was impressed! Many pros: Food: all the food is delicious, especially the steak (my boyfriend and I shared the DelMonoco since it was a 22 oz steak- it was perfect); the calamari appetizer is different than most places I've been to but it was really good and the sauce topped it off well; the bread pudding was to die for. As a bread pudding "snob", so thoroughly enjoyed it. Location: right off the highway with ample parking. Ambiance: white table cloth establishment, dim lighting and nice attire required, good energy and even has a poker room. Went here for the first time with my husband and one of our friends. Our friend frequents this restaurant often for dinner and drinks. He recommended it and since it's close to home that was a plus. It's a nice steakhouse without having the drama of driving to Dallas or the drama of parking/valet at the shops of legacy. Sometimes you just wanna go somewhere local and easy, lol. Silver Fox really exceeded my expectations! The service was superb! Our server Nellie was awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable. We started with the crab cakes, which were delicious, and came with a nice sauce. I tried the Blackberry smash cocktail- It was sooooo yummy. For dinner we tried the filet mignon baseball-cut, it was extremely tender and melted in my mouth. I also tried the lobster tail, which probably had the best presentation I've ever seen! (See the picture below! There was a little fire next to it!) Our friend tried the peach-glazed pork chop, which I'll say after sneaking a bite it was extremely tender, juicy, and flavorful! We had paired the steak with Merlot and followed with 7-layer chocolate cake! The cake itself was a bit dry, but the ganache was delicious. The chef brought us out some nice complimentary drinks to finish off our dessert. Overall a pleasant experience, with great service, food, and ambiance. May I give them 10 stars??? We made a reservation for Saturday night, when we arrived the place was packed but we did not wait more than 5 min for our table. When we walked in we were greeted by 3 pretty hostesses. When we sat down our server came by right away, managers were checking on us, I mean you get a lot of attention. We started with some delis margaritas , then heirloom tomato salad, we got fresh bread with butter and horseradish pickles:) was awesome. I had the peppercorn steak my dinner partner had the rib eye. Both were perfectly cooked and the sides were delis. I love French fries so I changed my side to that, usually it comes with mashed potatoes. I also got and extra side coz I love love brussels sprouts, these were crunchy and tasty. I did not like the au poivre sauce so I asked for a side of hollandaise which was great but was served cold. Never had it like that before. But I guess it's always a first time for everything. I wish I would have more space for dessert we definitely have to come back and try some. read more
