Based on the previous reviews I had high hopes for this place. It's was just meh. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which come in a corn tortilla and topped with a cream sauce and also a side of rice and beans. The cream sauce was virtually tasteless. Not spicy, which I'm fine with, but there really was no flavor of any kind. The shrimp inside were overcooked and rubbery to eat. The shrimp were cut up into pieces so I didn't see one full shrimp in my entire meal. Guess if you cut the shrimp into pieces you can give less shrimp to the customer. Just my thoughts. The shrimp had no flavor either. There were sautéed tomatoes and onions inside the enchilada and that was about the only flavor I experienced. The rice was undercooked too. Not crunchy but not soft and fluffy. The refried beans were nothing special either. They gave me a little bag of tortilla chips and two half filled small cups of salsa. The meal before tip cost me $14.50. In my opinion that is way to much for a dish that doesn't have full shrimp in it or much flavor. I honestly don't know if I'd return as there are so many Mexican food restaurants that are amazing. read more

We came here on a Tuesday night and had an absolutely amazing time!! Our server Daniel(I think) and he was so polite, friendly, and over all right there when you needed them. The food was AMAZING! We got the chimichanga and the Tuesday special tacos. Both where large portions and you can definitely eat here on a budget as well. The restaurant had a family oriented feel and was extremely comfortable. Bathrooms where clean, and the busser was very through and efficient. Definitely will be back! read more

My girlfriend and I first started going to Anayas in early August of 2023. It was a Wednesday and to our surprise there was live music. The food was spectacular, from the multiple options of salsa to the entrees we ordered it was lovely. Our waiter cared for us, checking in to ensure our food was to our liking and asking if we needed anything. The owner of the location on McClintock and Rural, Joey, was a passionate, hard working man who showed how much he cared for his craft but also his families legacy. This is going to be one of my go to spots for dinner, the chipotle shrimp delicious. On my second trip here I tried a soup shrimp bowl, I forget the name it's on the cover of the menu, that thing was delicious. They also have my favorite beer Pacifico. I wanted to love this place. It's adorable and the staff was lovely. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. My group of seven arrived at about 5:15. There were only one or two other people in the restaurant. I ordered a chili relleno. After a few minutes the waitress returned and said they were out of chili rellenos. What?? How does that happen at the beginning of the dinner hour at a Mexican restaurant? If you run out at lunch time, go to the store and get more before the dinner crowd arrives. I then ordered a burrito smothered in green sauce. The green sauce was not great. It had a very lemony or lime taste to it. Again, the waitress was lovely, everything else not so much. read more

The food is amazing! I have lived in AZ my whole life (60+ yrs) and have had the opportunity to eat Mexican food because of that. This is my all time favorite Mexican food place to eat. Everything is fresh, tasty and has the authentic taste of fine dining. The service is the best! Friendly staff that work well together and put their customers first. It was not bad.. for AZ Mexican food. lol Being from Southern California where we have some of the best tasting Mexican food makes it hard to find something that really compares to authentic southern Cali Mex food. The food at this place probably tastes better if u eat there then taking it to go. The one thing I didn't like is they didn't have good hot sauce. I merry their sauce had a good flavor but it looked more like a Pace Picante salsa you dip ur chips into. I'm used to a good hot sauce like the consistency of a Tapatio sauce but with a good hot flavor I'd probably try it again. ;) read more

Glad we gave this place a try. We ordered take out, shrimp cocktail and Mexican style chicken. Both dishes were very tasty, the shrimp was very fresh and plump, the cocktail sauce was so good, lots of fresh cucumbers and avocado. The chicken was really nice, fresh veggies and a tasty red sauce a little spice throughout and very flavorful. The staff was really friendly as well. I've been looking for a great go-to Mexican food spot after some failed attempts, and I think I found it with Anayas! I ordered food to go for myself and several members of my family. I had the Tacos Mexico with pastor meat and it was delicious! Very flavorful and just the right portion with rice and beans on the side. Family members had meals ranging from Arroz con Pollo, Chicken Fajitas, Steak Fajitas, and a Carne Asada Plate; each one loved their choices as well! We also had the queso dip to share which was delicious, very creamy and a generous portion. The chips were crispy and the salsa packed an extra punch (in a good way). Lastly, the takeout service was excellent with the food being ready on time and with friendly, professional staff. I would highly recommend Anayas! read more

The food is pretty good, but the service was lacking. We ordered house margaritas on the rocks during happy hour. When we got the bill, they were not happy hour pricing because we ordered the "regular ones." Beware, if you do not specify happy hour margaritas, they will not question you and give you the full price margaritas. We really felt ripped off. read more

We had the fajita burrito, arizona chimi, and a shrimp cocktail. Both the burrito and chimi were decent but definitely nothing to rave about. I took 1 star off because the cocktail was supposed to have octopus and we paid for it but there was none. Unfortunately we didn't know until we were already home, but it was cinco de mayo during a pandemic so not worth going back to complain. I will probably try this place one more time before writing the place off altogether since it is so close to home. read more
