The space is beautiful, I love the design, and the openness of the space. It is amazing to walk into, off of Tualatin-sherwood road, and into a warehouse area. The Staff is amazing- very friendly, very knowledgeable, good timing at when to approach a table. Also good recommendations & knowledge of current menu. The Food is Delicious. WELL, technically, I have only ordered the side of truffle fries at Ancestry Proper. But, I have eaten at the PDX SLiders food cart before and their food is exquisite! And, for the price of the menu item, we got a large portion of fries, I was very impressed, it was beyond generous. It was like they were giving us the fries! And, our group had no problem eating them all, they were gone before they even cooled off completely. =) I was impressed by all of the above things^^^^^ but I was not as impressed reciprocally by their actual beer. The beer that I read the description of, and knew instantly what I wanted to try was the : Piney IPA. But I found out they were sold out of that one, someone in my group also had to order a back-up beer because their choice was unavailable. It seems like a common thing, that they sell out of their beers. And, overall of the myriad beers I had with the group, I tried a wide variety and I wasn't overall impressed by their beers to be completely honest. read more

I enjoyed this location and am happy we drove from our hotel in Portland to try it out. It's about a 20 minute drive from downtown and nicely situated in a quiet area of industrial warehouses. Located itself on the side of a large warehouse, you need to pay attention to signage to find it. When we came in several bay doors were open so we could peek in and see some of the tanks in progress brewing new batches of ale. It was approximately 6:30pm on a Monday night and still busy (every table full) and there was signage for overflow parking so I imagine weekends are chaos here. If you aren't ready for mass crowds come early evening on a Mon-Wed for faster seating. We were seated within a minute of arriving luckily. The tasting/dining room is small and a bit cramped and rather loud acoustics but fine on quieter nights. I tried a flight of six and was impressed with most of my choices. My go to taste is an Amber or Scottish ale (hate IPA's) so I picked the Irish Red, Dark Irish, Scottish Red, Cream Ale, Cherry Wheat, and one other belgian seasonal I don't remember the name of. My favorite was the Scottish Red of course but each was very good. If you are indecisive and love to try local craft breweries I would go with the tasting flights! They will let you try a small sample or two it appears since the lady next to us was very needy and couldn't make up her mind on her pint until she tried a sip of everything. I ordered the traditional Ancestry burger and LOVED the house sauce. Similar to an In-N-Out sauce really. Only slight complaint is I requested well done and it was about medium. Make sure to check the level before you bite in. I chose the cajun fries which taste like a mix of chili powder and season salt. A good change from traditional fries and gives what was otherwise traditional not so spectacular fries a good amount of flavor. The boyfriend had a BLT which was not as good, bacon was completely charred to pieces but the burger was good. Stick with a burger. The location is family friendly too so as long as you have a DD driver in the group bring the kids along for the ride, they do have a kids friendly menu. read more

Their beer is great. They have a great style selection. I've always thought their wait staff was professional and courteous. The only reason why it's not 5 stars (wish I could do 4.5 stars) is that their menu is pretty limited. The food all tastes great and they're right it's all "brewery food"...but sometimes I wish there was just a tad more diversity in food choices. They have typically 3 salad entree choices and about 5 or 6 burger choices plus appetizer section. They're burgers are delicious. Just wish there were a few lighter sandwich options too or something similar. They used to have a marvelous grilled cheese sandwich hint hint! read more

Took the family for the first time today and had a great meal. Everyone was happy with their food and it is definitely a spot we will be coming back to. We started off with the hummus plate and some parmesan garlic fries with a side of beer cheese. The apps were mush larger than we expected and could have easily filled us up. The girls got the kids cheeseburger and chicken fingers plate. They weren't too many frills, but were still great for the kids. My wife and split the cheesesteak and an order of brown sugar buffalo wings. I was a little nervous about the wings, but they were a nice combination of sweet with a subtle hint of spice. Aunty and Uncle had the lamb burger and a Caesar salad. Of course we sampled some drinks and they were all great. All in all it was a great experience with equally great food and drinks. This is a must stop brewery for anywhere in the Portland area. I sampled a flight of all their beers. Every single one was great. Very clean, crisp and refreshing. If you like dark beers then they have a great dark Irish, English buried porter, and Oat Tout. Don't pass this place up. The only issue, their license for kids to be in side has not processed. So if your a family traveling with kids or just have your kids with you and want to stop in you can't. They are in the process of fixing that but don't know when. read more

We were given a gift card for Ancestry so we were excited to check it out. It was pretty busy on a Friday night. We had to wait for a table, but we were happy to wait outside in our chairs with a view of the Tualatin River marshlands. The wait didn't take long and we were seated outside on a beautiful day. There is water to grab outside and inside. Our server was most helpful and gave us some recommendations. I had the Bull Mountain burger which had a bbq sauce, onion strings, and bacon on a kobe beef patty. It was easily the best burger I have had in the area and a steal at $12. My wife tried their homemade vegan patty which was made of beans and what looked like a rice blend. It was very different than other vegan burgers but it was good. The ribbon cut beer cheese, bacon and green onion fries were what stole the show. If you aren't hungry for a meal I recommend still getting these as a snack! We also enjoyed their fry sauce with their normal cut french fries but we were not a fan of the cajun seasoning although the seasoning was generously applied. I was impressed with how involved Ancestry is in the community. My wife noticed that $1 from every bill is donated to the fire department in town. I also saw that $1 from a series of beer is donated to the local wildlife refuge. The food, service, atmosphere, and mission are all fantastic. I enjoyed Ancestry so much that I decided it will be my restaurant of choice for my birthday this year. read more

Visited Ancestry Brewing on a summer saturday night as they were quite popular for a lot of their IPAs. Although not a hophead, I don't really hate IPAs, I just feel the bitterness masks the flavor underneath in most cases. This Ancestry Brewing location is bit away from downtown Portland and it is a bit of a drive, that doesn't really discourage me when it comes to good beer. The ambiance is a modern industrial setup, with fermentation tanks in the back and you can see all of that cool stuff. Their food is definitely of very good standard, probably one of the better pubfares I have had to my recollection. Talk about beer selection, Ancestry has a lot of beers for a brewery setup of this size. I got their flight of six beer to start with the Piney IPA, Best Coast IPA, Oat Stout, Brown Ale, Wheat and Irish Red. They also had Fresh hop Piney which I got tot try. The best coast is definitely too bitter for me, and not one with a punch like you get from a double or triple IPA, but it just felt under done from a beer stand point. The Piney IPA is good but not great, but the fresh hop Piney (Or something similar sounding) was amazing, the beer tastes like summer in your mouth. Superb brew imo! Must try if they have it on tap. The stout was one of the poorer stouts I have had, it lacks the depth and flavor. The brown and wheat are good ones to try if you like that. Overall a decent experience, will be back if I am in the area. read more

Just a couple weeks after the doors opened to the public, my husband and I stopped for lunch. The inside looks industrial in decor and spacious. If you want intimate, this is not it. It's a good space to meet a few friends or even a group. We sat outside which is or was the driveway/loading dock with 4 randomly placed picnic tables. It definitely needs help. There are several more tables around the building. . I only know this because I overheard someone say 'let's sit on the bottom' ..... I had to go look for myself. It is very quite with views of the country side and you do not hear the Tualatin-Sherwood Rd traffic. Our service was good. . When we decided on the beer sampler we were offered suggestions. My husband liked three, the others he did not care for. ESB was his favorite. The burger he ordered for lunch was grilled as he asked. I ordered the Broadway Pork for lunch. It was spicier than I thought it would be and did not come with any sauce mixed in with the pork. It was very dry that way. I recommend asking for a sauce like BBQ. read more

We have been driving by this tap room for months and always see how busy the parking lot was so we stopped in for a first time for a burger and a beer. First off Service was Great. We actually ended up having to cranberry ciders that was excellent. We ordered The Ancestry Burger & polled pork sandwich. I've now been twice and each time, the service was amazing. Each person we've encountered was friendly and helpful.. it truly feels like you are being welcomed by a family. I've had their raspberry wheat which was lovely and fruity and we tried their very first cider; a raspberry. It's a perfect balance -- not too sweet or sour but a strong raspberry finish. We have tried both the fish and chips as well as their clam strips and both were SO GOOD! I don't know what they do to achieve this but their fries are, in my mind, perfect. They are crisp on the outside and soft on the outside and I legit, could just sit and eat their fries as a meal. I added them to my order of clams on my 2nd visit because I love them so much. I've lived in AZ the last 3 years and this place makes me feel like I'm truly back home. Oh! And another thing, they do have our door patio seating and you can reserve a spot. I love that!! I had my hopes up since this was directly down the street from my work. The prices were not equal to the quality of service. Service was slow, water was not offered/brought to the table as a courtesy, and the only soda on tap was root beer which was very flat. I got the bull mountain burger plus Parmesan garlic fries. The burger looked great, but was over cooked and tough, I wasn't even offered an option on how I wanted it cooked. The bun was good but the sauce that was supposed to be on the burger was blobbed onto the middle and you only tasted it unless you eat directly in the middle of the burger. The fries were cold and hard. The garlic Parmesan was clumped together and not even on the fries because of how old the fries were. Very disappointed. The server wasn't very attentive and no table touch from the manager when a complaint was made. read more

Great service. Staff was running around everywhere. My steak was a small portion. Just 4 pieces of steak. The appetizer of chips was to small. We had salsa and guacamole left over. We popped into Ansestry after a long day of errands and found a new love! The beer was very tasty- I got a Best Coast IPA and my husband got a flight of several and we enjoyed them all. We both ordered the fish and chips (although the burgers going out looked awesome) as the fish was ono . This is a nice firm Hawaiian fish that holds up well to dipping in their (homemade) tartar sauce. It was very tasty. The staff was very attentive even though the ace was hopping. This is the second time I have been here. The food is great, but it is not worth the 30-45 minute wait to get in. They have no reservations, only out your name at the door and roll the dice. I would gladly go down the road to Industry where I can get a reservation, way better service, and equal quality food. I won't ever come back here, there are way more choices for me to spend my money in Sherwood and Tualatin and not have to wait an insane amount of time to get a table. read more

Fried ono sandwich is one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. Their burgers are also superb. Shoestring fries are cooked to order and can be plain, Cajun, or garlic Parmesan. Beers are solid and well made on premises. They'll let you try whatever you want and the staff is very knowledgeable. Very cool and open space in an industrial park on Hwy 99. Owners were in the Navy and a lot of their branding and product names reflect this. Vets get a discount on beers, which is nice. Service was slow and the place was not crowded, hence the loss of a star. This place is great and they are about to open their third location in the PDX area, so they must be doing something right. read more

So good!!! First I wish I had known they take reservations. I would have made one. I went with my two boys and husband and somehow the hostess got us a table within 15 minutes when they had an over hour wait list. Make reservations! The food was amazing. Staff friendly. Beer great. We got the wings dry with all of the sauce choices on the side so we could try them all. All winners but I love the brown sugar buffalo! We also split a burger. The beef they use is obviously of great quality. We had a wonderful dinner in such weird times. Will be back soon. read more
