I was already familiar with the location because its where Ciro's used to be. I also knew they had valet parking, but heads up the guy directing parking let us know parking in the back was free if we parked our own car. We entered the restaurant and were greeted warmly by a man and shown a table or two. I asked the person waiting on us if there was a gluten-free menu or if they could possibly ask the chef if the 2 items I was interested in were gluten-free. I was met with kind of a wierd reaction like asking that was not important. Basically, they said "Yea, so most stuff on here is going to be gluten-free." That does not answer my question nor did it make me feel comfortable eating there because I got dismissed when I asked. I also saw items on the menu that did have gluten in them and I just really wanted to know if the two items I wanted were, or could be made gluten-free. I ordered the two items and I did ask what was in the white mole. I got the same dismissive response like "oh a little bit of this and a little bit of that." Vaguely listing off random spices. I then asked if they were going to even advise the Chef that the order was for a Celiac and they didn't even give me a yes. I literally should have left at that point, but I played it pretty safe with what I ordered and I am familiar with Mexican Cuisine as well. At one point, the manager came by and asked did I have questions and I once again asked about the white mole and he also gave me the same dismissive reaction (and a non- answer). So, ultimately, I said to leave the mole off (it was still served to me WITH THE WHITE MOLE). So, the food here was great, it was everything I expected given it is authentic Mexican Cuisine. I ordered the grilled shrimp which come with 2 salsas and tortillas and it's a large amount of large shrimp; I loved this. My only complaint is that they are grilled with the shell on and a lot of the meat was stuck to the shell and not edible. I would however, recommend this starter dish. The Quail which is served with the white mole is plated so nicely, but for 40$ it wasn't a lot of food (you get two small quails). Also, I did ask for the mole to not be on the dish because no one would give me a clear answer on if it contained gluten. My husband loved the quail and I dis not so much becauase it was kind of gamey and I asked about this and I was told it tastes like chicken. The lamb birria tacos also are the same, I thought they were fantastic and they were GF. They were served with a consomé on the side as well as 2 tortillas. It's basically two small street tacos for I think 17$ which is not that filling for everyone in retrospect, but it was delicious. The dessert was recommended to us by our server was the Horchata ice cream and plantains (and once again, no care given to the dietary restrictions that I kept stressing). While this was the star of the dinner, I didn't eat it at all much like the Quail (which I tasted a small amount) because I did not feel like my having Celiac Disease was being taken seriously. I just did not feel like the people I interacted with were willing to interact with me and answer my questions or even smile. The only person who was welcoming was the man at the front door who greeted us and said goodbye. We loved the food though and I liked the two craft coktails I had. I left relatively dissapointed because having Celiac Disease isn't something new and if anyone was willing to just ask the Chef I would have felt more comfortable. We spent about 200$ on dinner with no leftovers and honestly asking to check if something is safe to eat isn't that hard to do. It also wasn't busy at all, 3 tables and service was slow. I hope that in the future they can be more hospitable to those with dietary restrictions especially, given a lot on the menu as they claim is GF. There was also a 3% credit card surcharge on our bill (and I can absolutely show this if asked). No one explained that, nor did we know until a few weeks after and if it was because we paid with a specific credit card we could have just paid a different way, and that's what I mean when I say the service just was not hospitable or friendly. It is common courtesy to advise patrons if there is some kind of extra charge. We would have just appreciated that. The overall space is renovated beautifully and I hope that they work on some of those issues. I loved the food we had. My rating would be much higher if these issues had not happened because the food was great. The Chef was there talking to people at the other two tables, but never came to us so I couldn't ask any questions about the food or inspiration on how thr menu came to be... so yep. We just didn't really feel welcome. Maybe it was just an off night.

Chef Phe is truly a master at her craft. Not only is Quiote a complete vibe with the ambiance, decor and finishes, this place also offers incredible cuisine paired with a fantastic selection of curated tequila options. Everything we tried was delicious but the Esquite was truly the star of the show. I could eat an entire order just myself. The size is right for 2 people. The chicharrón tacos were so flavorful. The Caesar (coming from someone who LOVES a Caesar) was so unique and a fun twist on the classic. I would order this again 100%. The whole snapper was suggested to us by our server (who was amazing btw) and it did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection, light & crispy on the outside but then melts in your mouth. I don't even want to give this recommendation bc I'd like to keep it to myself and not lose it to influencers, but this place deserves all the hype. (Shhh now don't tell anyone, but make yourself a res)

When it comes to the Tampa food scene, Quiote is in a league of its own. The small, but mighty menu is drastically different than anything else you'll find in the area. And since the menu is seasonal, this is one of those places that you'll come back and find some new and interesting every time. I tried the gambas (camarones) and snapper dishes. Both were fantastic. The tequila and mezcal selection is exquisite. I sat at the bar and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend Quiote. Definitely check it out! I see a Star in the future!!!

This used to be Ciro's, the iconic speakeasy cocktail bar, so it already has that intimate, moody vibe but now with a fresh, elevated feel. The space is beautiful and perfect for a night out. The cocktails are amazing and you can tell they really focus on tequila and mezcal in a more refined way, not just your typical drinks. The food is just as impressive and everything feels elevated and thoughtfully done. Service really stood out, our drinks took a little while but they were so kind and ended up comping our drinks and dessert, which was such a nice touch. What a level of service 10/10 and can't wait to come back! What I ordered: - Camarones a la Parilla: Fresh Local Shrimp / Mexican Chili Crisp / Salsa Bruja - A La Caesar: Charred Baby Romaine / Black Garlic Dressing / Crispy Chicharron / Nieve - Lamb Queso-Birria: Local Made Oaxacan Cheese / Petite Cilantro / Cebolla / Consomé - Chicharron De Iberico: Tamarind Soy Glaze / Rabano / Avocado Mousse / Truffled Hibiscus Aioli - Sueño Mojado: Scallops / Mayura Wagyu / Pork Belly / Plantain Mash / Poblano Crema

Parking is not good. Not a lot of street parking, valet only. Location is weird. Use to be Ciro's speakeasy. Only had happy hour food, it was not great. Drinks were good. Not sure if I would go back.

Just came here for a girls night and omg it was phenomenal! Located where Ciro's Speakeasy used to be (rip to a real one) and wow what a follow up. The ambiance is romantic and truly is photo worthy. We had the shrimp, scallops, and esquites apps ...they were all 10/10!! The esquites in the bone marrow ..wow I was blown away. The presentation was chefs kiss and our server Caitlin was sooo sweet! Oh and spicy mezcal margs were the best I've had yet!!

I mourned the loss of Ciro's for a long time, but Quiote more than fills that void. It carries that same warm, dark, moody energy, anchored by a bar that still feels like the heart of the room. The curtained booths are gone, swapped for tables, but the vibe hasn't lost its edge. Huge tequila menu and mezcal selection is largest in Florida. Our waiter knew the menu thoroughly, which made the whole experience feel elevated. The food menu is small, but that's the point, everything is amazing. The corn, shrimp, quesadilla, tacos all standout!

This place was incredible! The server was attentive and knowledgeable. She greeted us at the door and walked us to our table. Food was flavorful but a bit pricey. Best Caesar salad I've ever had! It came with a black garlic Caesar dressing and crispy chicharron (fried pork belly). Tacos are on the smaller side. $35 corkage fee. The ambiance was intimate, dim lighting and cozy date night vibes. Will definitely be back!

I just wish the happy hour selection was better and quite small, but the $12 burger and beer deal is great. Expanding the happy hour menu could bring in more business earlier and create a more lively atmosphere before the evening rush. Definitely a solid spot with room to improve.

We were seated at the corner table so we were able to people watch. Our server, Brianna, was super nice and very attentive. I never had to ask her for a refill on my Coke Zero; she just kept them coming! We started with some shareables for the table. Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts which were done just right. We also ordered a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza to share. I've never had a "Columbus-style" pizza before. If you're wondering, the crust is somewhat thinner than most pizzas, but not a thin-crust pizza. The toppings are spread all throughout the pizza to the edge, and then cut it in squares (Tavern style). It was very tasty, with a slightly sweet note. My hubby and I ordered the Cobb Salad (without bacon) which was delicious. I really liked the onions on it. It was very fresh and they served a generous portion. Hubby ate the whole thing, but I had the rest of mine for dinner. So good! Two of our friends ordered the Truffle Mushroom Smash Burger and they loved them. I tried my buddy's tater tots, which he ordered with his French Dip. They were nice and crispy, but could have used some kind of flavoring, like Parmesan or truffle. Doesn't mean I didn't eat them all! LOL. The restaurant looks small when you enter, but in addition to the front dining area and bar, it has two additional dining areas, as you walk towards the back, and another bar. If you find yourself in the Channelside area, you should definitely try out Small Giant.
