Traditional Single Wings (10) medium mild buffalo

Ordered a 10 piece wing with original recipe, medium mild buffalo sauce and let me say they are the creator for a reason. The wing was a decent size, very crispy, and had sufficient sauce that did not make it soggy. The wedges were also crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but were a little bland for our liking. We ended up mixing the potato wedges with the remaining wing sauce and an elevated taste. This place is a must try for wings in Buffalo as the service was quick when the bartender attended us and the inside restaurant feels very sporty. No kids menu.

The good queso but overly salted chips that were pretty much inedible unless you shake off the salt or remove it with napkins.

It's been over a decade since I have last been to an anchor bar and this time I tried this place with my bro. The vibe was fun as a Bill's game was on but the food left a lot to be desired. Granted the wings were tasty but a little burnt and dry on some parts (especially the wing tips). What really disappointed me was the queso and chips. The queso was pretty good, but a tad runny, but the chips were sooooo salty, it was like it was scooped in salt on many pieces of chips. I had to shake a lot of salt off some pieces to make it edible enough with the dip. I even asked the worker there if I could get chips that didn't have so much salt and all they told me was that "that is how it comes." Then she just walked away without giving us any alternative as to what to do with all the salty chips. So disappointed with their response. Right after this, I went to a different wing place and soon realized how much better service and food I could have gotten elsewhere. Got wings and a side dish there and it was more spot on than at this anchor bar. I will probably never come back to this location.

Stopped by the Anchor Bar in Buffalo to try the original wings. Gotta say--they delivered. Wings were great, crispy with just the right heat. The place itself is pretty basic, regular bar vibe, nothing fancy or special, but it's a quiet spot to grab some good wings and relax. Worth a visit if you want to try where it all started.

These are hands down the best buffalo wings I've ever had! The service was exceptional, from walking to walking out. I ordered five wing specials and paired them with some delicious potato salad. My spicy buffalo parm wings were so good! I'll be back before I leave this pretty city! ***update*** I went back the next day and tried their honey garlic and they were good but I highly recommend the parm wings.

I'm sorry but I have to take away a star for the prices. They are absolutely out of control. I have already boycotted the chicken wings, which I am aware are expensive everywhere, but Anchor Bars are the most expensive in the area and they happen to be my favorite. RIP chicken wings, you will be missed. But dang, EVERYTHING here is expensive! Chicken wing dip for $16.49???? Why? It's not like there is literal chicken wings in it! $6.49 to add on coleslaw?? $13.49 for a turkey club sandwich on white bread with potato chips?? I mean are we eating at Disneyland or a Buffalo area restaurant? I like your food and customer service is good (at least for my pick ups ... I don't eat at the restaurant ...) but once my Uber promos are up I can no longer justify the prices and will have to scratch Anchor Bar off my list. If your vendors are the reason for the high prices, time to switch

And wow I'm thankful the other place was closed because this food was amazing! The wings were perfect. Very crispy and the painted on sauce was a new touch that I've never experienced. The Loganberry drink was delicious and so was the downeast cider. We also got the cheese bread. Everything was perfect temperature when it came out. We finished it all. The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. I loved all the sauces we tried (saucy hot cajun, medium, and garlic parm). The wings were perfectly crisp, and the steak pizza had a ton of flavor. Definitely a heavier meal, but if you're bringing someone from out of town who wants great wings, this is a spot worth taking them to.
