If I had to grade &pizza based on my latest experience, I would have to give it an "I" for incomplete, because our pizzas were never finished. We ordered three pizzas online, so all of the additional toppings, modifications, etc. were already entered and listed on the ticket. Ideally, your order is ready at the promised time, and it's right - this &pizza missed on both fronts. I'll note that we ordered at prime dinner time for pickup, so the shop was swamped, and I'll give them some grace for that, but that doesn't mean that corners should be cut or that accuracy should be sacrificed. Our pizzas were not ready at the promised time (we had about a 10-minute wait... nothing offensive, but I think them being behind led to the rushing and skimming of toppings). A word to the wise, if you're picking up an order at this Rio location, make sure you break the seal and open the box in-shop to make sure that your pizza order is correct... Don't rely on &pizza to get it right, unless you order in-person and supervise. We didn't open the boxes until we got home, and when we did, we found that half of the toppings (aka the finishes) were missing. Pickled red onions - missing. Arugula - missing. I placed an order on their app for in-store pickup. There are plenty of free nearby parking garages as well as street parking that's almost always taken by other vehicles. I rated a 4 because you can't customize the order on the app beyond the sauce, cheese, and one topping. I wanted to add extra cheese and additional toppings, and the app didn't enable me to do so as either a free or paid option. The service was great. No wait to be assisted, and the pizzas were made fresh and exactly as ordered. Friendly and prompt. The restroom didn't need a key or code. It was clean but smelled horrible. This place is really on point, the online ordering service is super convenient and the pizza is always ready in the 15 min window provided. There is a designated curb pick up parking area right beside the entrance which really helps since this area parking can get really frustrating. I have to admit, I do like a little more tomato sauce than normal and I wish there was a way to add that on the app, but the pizza is really quite good. The unlimited build your own pizza for one price is certainly appealing for those who want to experiment. The variations are quite endless and the choices are somewhat unique with the different drizzles, sauces, and toppings. Location had gone way downhill over the last year. Seemingly managements fault. Understaffed, maybe? Every time I go in, there is 1 person making pizzas, 1 person checking out, 20 pizzas waiting to be made for pickups or deliveries, and at least 3 people in line at the store that don't even get spoken to for 10 minutes because they're busy making 3rd party orders. Food used to be good, but employees are now rushing and not making good pizzas. Sucks to see such a good place change so quickly. read more

I've been a loyal fan of &pizza since the very first location opened in DC and was genuinely excited when this store launched. Unfortunately, since opening, there has been a steady and noticeable decline in order accuracy, food quality, and customer service--at this point, it's simply unacceptable. The most recent experience was the final straw. At 5:21 PM, I placed a pickup order for a family bundle scheduled for 8:00 PM. My husband arrived shortly after 8:00 PM to pick it up after working a 14-hour day, only to find the order wasn't ready. It took about seven minutes just to be acknowledged, and even then, the staff appeared indifferent. After waiting 45 minutes, he spoke with the manager and was shocked by the lack of concern. Manager shrugged and said there were "about five people ahead of me who had been waiting longer" and that they were understaffed--essentially implying this was just how things were. Meanwhile, after more than an hour of waiting, another customer was handed a cookie as compensation. My husband finally received the food at 9:35 PM--1 hour and 35 minutes late. Once he got home, we discovered that half of the order was missing, along with the salad dressings. Sadly, this was not an isolated incident. Poor communication, long wait times, missing or incorrect orders, and a complete lack of accountability from both staff and management have become the norm. Reaching out to corporate in the past clearly made no difference, as conditions have only worsened. The wait alone cost us over $120 in lost time, and we didn't even receive an apology. The there's the missing food we paid for and didn't receive. It's incredibly disappointing, but we'll be finding another local spot to replace what used to be a favorite. read more

Found it odd the first time we came because there was no menu posted, but this last time there was a pre-printed menu on the glass. I always get the Maverick, which has several meats and is always great. I really like their app because I get discounts/offers all the time and they keep me coming back. Ordering on their app was swift and easy, it tells you when the pizza will be ready at an approximate time (which was about 10 min), however when I arrived at the approximate time I was waiting for another 15 minutes. It was uncalled for & they were pretty busy that day from the high demand of online orders and in person.. the employees were not courteous about the wait time but the pizza itself made up for it. The following day I received an email about apologizing for any inconvenience during my visit and gifted me 100 coins, a reward system they've implemented to redeem certain items on the menu for free. So, I'm remembering why I am not a fan. Employees make food and take money and switch between the two very different tasks. I placed my order (employee was very friendly) and make my way to register. Employee rings me up, she puts gloves on to ring me up and take my cash (odd). Im handed my change and watch her grab a box and place the paper that goes in box with same gloved hands. Urgh, I watch as she's goes back to preparing pizza. I asked is that my pizza, she says no mine is in oven. When my pizza comes out of oven she changes gloves (so I don't say anything). I've had this same issue at a Baltimore location. Corporate needs to address safe food handling and avoid pizza prep and money handling. This task should be rotated between two employees. I recommend using the app because the lines can be long depending on when you decide to go. Promise time isn't guaranteed. Customers in the store usually get priority. The ingredients minus greens look plentiful and fresh, however my last few times my arugula was wilted. Employees here are nice and have good customer service skills. Parking is a pain. Pieology &pizza Blaze Pizza Mod Pizza etc. ...what I would say (for lack of a better term) is Chipotle style pizza. This was probably the most filled pizza I'd ever do. Usually it's just cheese, sauce, bread, and one topping with basil. This pizza was freakin' delicious though. That garlic oil thing they put on at the end is so nice and punchy. Man... it was good. Also, the jalapenos got sufficiently cooked enough in the oven to take out a nice amount of the heat. They were like perfectly spicy for me. The ordering process was efficient and friendly. I will say, I've noticed that when the &pizza workers spread the tomato sauce on the pizza, I never feel like it's really evenly spread to the crust - and I also think it's a bit sparse. What impresses me about this place is the cleanliness and attention to vegetarian options. I would equate how &pizza operates to a Chipotle or Cava style line service, except for PIZZA! There is a very chill vibe once you open the doors to this location, which is on the end corner of Downtown Crown, right next to my other fav spot here, Mezeh! They have a menu of specialty pizzas you can choose from, but otherwise, it's a free-for-all. You can get pretty creative with their crusts and topics, and they have gluten-free and vegan options. First, you start with the crust, which ends up a sort of rectangle shape. Then, a sauce. Next up is an array of toppings, including cheeses, meats, veggies, and fruits (yes, PINEAPPLE IS AVAILABLE AND IT'S DELICIOUS ON PIZZA). It goes in the oven from there, then there are more topping options when it comes out, including peppers, pesto, and Mike's Hot Honey (BIG recommend). They have their own in-house soda creations that are all pretty delicious as well. There is one giant bench seat that can fit a few groups as well as one smaller table that can fit one group as far as indoor seating. There is plenty of outdoor seating at Downtown Crown, which is usually where I end up with my friends. The staff at this location COULD NOT BE less concerned about doing their jobs well. Because we know that they handle online ordering extremely poorly (lengthy waits at the store up to 20 minutes after your scheduled pickup time while you watch them serve walk-in customers ahead of you) my husband and I decided that in-person ordering was the better bet yesterday, since we were short on time. The staff member who assisted with the ordering completely didn't engage with my husband and rushed him through adding additional toppings on the pizza, even attempting to put the pizza in the oven before we were done. This is just a pattern of poor customer service at this restaurant, otherwise I would have chalked it up to one disengaged staff member and wouldn't have bothered with a review.
