Wish I didn't bother with the almond croissant, it was terrible, not fresh at all. The cakes however seem to be made with a little more care. I tried the yuzu dessert and it tasted nice, little sweet and very tart. I didn't like the crispy rice cake, it would have tasted better on a sponge cake. For me, that made the pastry a little overrated. They have a good coffee menu, I enjoyed the iced latte, but couldn't finish it. Not a bad place but I also wouldn't come back nor recommend it.
Beautiful, fancy pastries and drinks! I stopped here one morning for a sweet-forward breakfast. My partner and I ordered a bunch of different baked goods, most notably the Basque Cheesecake. Other reviews seems to be consistent and align with my experience - long lines move fast and the few tables in here fill up quickly. Personally, I thought the pastries were prettier than they were tasty, but I'm glad I got to try what I did. While Salswee is not on my list of top bakeries, I would be willing to come here again to try their more colorful items - things with mango or yuzu. Worth checking out if you're trying to tackle all the dessert spots in NYC!
I really like the creativity that Salswee puts on their items! For the drink, I had the Traffic Lights. It's basically mango foam on strawberry matcha. I also had their matcha croissant and their mango. The croissant had matcha filling and the mango had actual mango inside with mango mousse. The mango was my favorite thing here! I also had the sausage pastry but I did find that salty.
The deserts remind of me of Simulacra and Simulation but fulfill my childhood dream of fruits being cake instead of fruits. Had a blast tasting them all but coming here feels like more of a rare experience rather than somewhere I'd frequently visit. The cakes were so beautiful and skillfully made, and all were so scrumptious (filled with mousse) but light on the stomach. They deserve their price tag but they are more expensive than a typical pastry. When we came here there was a line, but it didn't take too long to get our pastries. The tables get packed pretty fast though because the seating area isn't too big.
Visited because the pastries are known to be aesthetically beautiful...which they were! Although from a taste perspective, everything we ordered (traffic light drink and tart brulee) felt a little underwhelming in terms of taste. There was some seating but a pretty busy place when we visited on a Sunday night.
Salswee is a solid dessert shop in NYC that lived up to the hype for us! I've been to Salswee twice now and thought it was consistent through both visits. I originally saw them on several IG and TT videos with desserts that resembled fruits. In terms of the store itself, the desserts are up front and to the right of you in display cases as you make your way to the cashier. The line is always pretty quick moving and easy to order and the pricing is also not too bad. The cafe itself is modern and includes some other options like pastries and coffee (unfortunately haven't tried those). I've ordered the banana, yuzu, and mango. The mango was delightful as well as the banana. Love how the desserts aren't overly sweet and layered as well as decorative. There are some tables/seats inside although it can get pretty busy. We ended up taking the desserts to go and eating it at the park across the street. Overall, think Salswee is well worth a look. Was one of our favorite dessert spots in town.
I feel like I bought a truly ridiculous amount of petit gateaus here to try out and share with friends and we wound up enjoying most of them, some enough to buy twice. Went to the Flatiron store both times and didn't have to wait long to order. The staff were great and packed all of the little cakes nicely so that they survived the trek back to our condo. Mango--all around favorite, wound up buying like 4 of these cause half my friends preferred it and I liked it a surprising amount Blueberry--very mild, no tartness, not too sweet with good blueberry flavor Orange--fresh and orangey in the middle, loved this one Pear--reminds me of cinnamon apples (I guess this was cinnamon pears), which isn't my favorite flavor but others enjoyed Banana--made me sad cause I LOVE banana flavored stuff and this just... wasn't? It had old tasting banana paste in the middle assuming because it's real banana and not artificial, is tiny, and didn't taste good Yuzu--nice yuzu flavor and disappeared fast Cloud--forgot the actual name and apparently didn't take a picture, it had chocolate/hazelnut mousse with some sort of caramel and something crunchy, also delicious All of the petit gateaus were on the mild side which is a big plus for me. Appearance was top notch and the balance of cream to filling on point. I'd like to try some of the other pastries next time for sure.
The dessert here is so inviting and pretty. Especially the mousse based ones that look like fruits. I got the mango, orange, and the one that looks like a mushroom. The orange has a base made of chocolate Rice Krispies. All of them have more fruity filling than the mousse. They are very fragile. I recommend eating there if you can. Finding can be a challenge because it's busy and there aren't many seats. I got mine to go just to be taken to the park across the street . The mushroom kind are totally ruined. It has strawberriy jelly and it was a mess. The orange one was almost ruined too. The mango has some diced mangoes. I devoured three of them instantly. Definitely come back to try more.
Yummmy!!! What a cute and unique dessert boutique! So many choices but what makes this place stand out are its adorable and colorful mousse delicacies. The inside was packed with folks! There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.
A very quaint dessert cafe. Lots of options, but I've been wanting to try these fruit trompe l'oeil's for a while. The service was fast and super kind. There isn't that much seating, but it worked out for my group. We got the mango and the yuzu. The mango was devine, and the yuzu was just okay. Even though I thought the yuzu was mid, the mango + service was heavenly enough for 5 stars.
Came here after dinner one night for dessert. Staff was friendly. Maybe it was the end of the night but the store wasn't exactly clean. Tables and floor had crumbs everywhere. If you come in a large group you might have trouble getting a table to sit in. The desserts were beautiful. We order a couple of items to try and thought they were delicious. Not overly sweet. Very fresh fruit flavors. The small cakes were the perfect size.
It was a nice shop and service was ok. The pastries were a lot smaller than I realized which made the prices kind of crazy. None of the flavors were wow or made me want to go back again. They were fine nothing memorable if I'm being honest. Very cute items.
This is my third time going and I have to say I finally got the right desert the third time. Shared pics from all 3. Hands down the best thing to try is the mango (so flavorful and some parts feel cold like ice cream) and I also really liked the pistachio. Cloud is safe, Not too sweet and it's soft mousse. Yuzu (the flower dessert) had a hard rice cake under it which I was not a fan on. Everytime I have gone, the lien move pretty fast. Seating is whatever table you can find. So have one person place the order while the other scouts for a seat.

Finally decided to try this place after walking by it for years. I refused to try this in the past, because I didn't like how many items they put on display. It felt like items weren't made with care and mass produced at a factory or something. I went 10 minutes before they closed and there was still 10+ of each dessert. I'm not convinced that they will dispose of them. Even if they do, it means they didn't do a good job in forecasting demand especially after being in business for multiple years. I ordered mango and yuzu. Both were too sweet and had one dimensional flavor and textures, not refreshing per their stated flavors. Even if their appearances take effort, they don't look pretty enough for me to forgive what goes in my mouth. I'm used to having patisseries with many layers and elements. Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture. read more
I am obsessed with the pastries and cakes here and how beautiful they are! I deeply appreciate the artistry that goes into making these fruit-looking desserts that bring the taste to life. The Mango and Pistachio looked so realistic and mirrored the flavors perfectly. I love the size of their cakes which are perfect to share with a group of 4. I indulged in their Black Sesame Mochi Cake and Blueberry Chiffon Cake which both have the fluffiest sponge cake base, a fluffy vibrant cream, and fresh ingredients and fruit. Give their drinks a try too. I enjoy their matcha here! The Traffic Lights is a strawberry matcha with a mango cream top. And I also tried their Black Sesame Latte but substituted the espresso for matcha and loved this customized pairing. FYI, there is no bathroom! read more

I love coming to NYC and seeing all the creative genius work that is all around, especially the food. Of course nothing could have prepared me for the Black Sesame Puff and the black sesame late at Salswee! The puff looks like a wooden block and the late is as grey as concrete. First off, these things were amazing and also an illusion. Badass! read more
This place has some really gorgeous and creative desserts! We enjoyed the mango mousse (beautiful with a hard exterior you crack into) and the yuzu dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of the strawberry shortcake only bc of the strawberry jelly inside but my husband enjoyed it. Definitely want to return to try some of the others! read more

Salswee has one of the best takes on these fruit-shaped desserts I have tried. A lot of places are doing similar concepts now, but this is the one that really stands out. The execution is just better across the board. I have tried the mushroom, orange, mango, and banana, and the orange and mango were easily my favorites. The orange had this creamsicle-like filling that felt really nostalgic, and the mango was just straight mango done right. If you are looking for a unique sweet treat, this place is worth the trip. I have heard their savory options are great too, so that is next on my list. read more

The concept is really cool and all the pastries are beautiful, but I didn't feel that anything stood out as something I'd come back for. Out of all the ones we tried I liked the cloud best. It was a chocolate hazelnut combo that worked really well. Everything else was fine, and it's on the pricey side. read more
The offerings here at Salswee are such a delight! These French style treats called tompe-l'œil ("deceive the eye" in English), are not only a marvel to see but also a pleasure to taste. After struggling for some time to pick my order (the selections looked all too good), I settled on getting the yuzu-flavored dessert. Crafted as a white flower perched on a meringue pouffe and a rice crispy base, the interior was soft, delicate, and sweet, with a nice sharp tang from the citrus coulis. I could have easily scarfed down another one of those. I also tried this item called "the cloud" made with chocolate mousse. It was wonderfully delicate as well, although I didn't like this as much, as I'm not a big fan of rich chocolate desserts. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my order, so much so that I'm already dreaming about what I would try here next. The pear dessert does look tempting! read more

Desserts look phenomenal and so do the pastries and bakery items no doubt! Taste may be more like a 6-8/10 If you want amazing aesthetics and photo ops in your food, this is your place The desserts themselves are fine I'd rate them between 6-8/10. The mango is a solid 10. Banana orange and passion fruit all were 6-8 range. There are other similar dessert spots in the city so the line here becomes restrictive I did like the pistachio and strawberry croissants a lot as well. They're gigantic Coffees are on their Menu too There's never any place to sit inside unless you're willing to play hunger games and there's always a line on the weekend so everything put together I don't seek it out. If I want to gift people though I buy from here cos it looks amazing They often run out of the mango and orange and banana by mid day though so go early read more
The drinks are good but they should all consider offering hot tea and iced tea. I enjoyed the iced matcha latte I ordered, but was surprised that they don't have any non-sugar sweetener. They only offer brown sugar! I understand they're a cake store so they may assume all their patrons are okay with sugar, but offering non-sugar sweetener doesn't take much. Many people don't want to add additional sugar to their coffee and tea even when they enjoy a piece of cake. read more
Super cute inside. Decent amount of seating. Honestly the cakes are not that expensive they're kind of small though. We got two of the black sesame oatmeal cakes. They were well packaged. Cake itself was good I really liked the sponge and the black sesame cream. The oatmeal inside added an interesting taste but I'm not sure I liked the texture addition. Tasted pretty cereally. Yummy cake alert! My daughter introduced me to this place and now I want to try everything... this is a Japanese establishment. Bought my mom their version of cheesecake and the tiramisu. Loved the cheesecake and the tiramisu was tasty. Shared a Creme brûlée croissant with my son, delicious. Cute, place with seating and plenty of pastries to choose from. Service was nice and the space was clean. read more
This was disappointing after having been hyped up so much but still decent for a bakery! Honestly, I was disappointed. I came here with my friend the first thing that sucked which isn't their fault is that they had limited flavors which I'm assuming it's because they sold out of them. However the flavors we did get we don't feel they were properly refrigerated as they were sweating .There were also cracks in the fruit we got. We did take pictures at angles in which you couldn't see the imperfections. Between me and my friend we were not fans of the flavors. We got blueberry, cloud, and I forgot the name of the flower one. I think it's possible our expectations and what these desserts are supposed to be are misaligned but generally we were just disappointed. As a dessert, I expected more sweetness and better presentation especially for the price. The shop itself is cute and clean and I think maybe other pastries would probably be better. read more

O M G !! Creative yes Delicious yes Inexpensive no ... No seriously, they are delicious. They are so fresh. Our favorite was the mango of course but the delicious little strawberry mushroom was so fun and the pumpkin. Delicious pastries I am telling you not much seating so either you stand like we did and enjoyed our pastries or you take them outside unfortunately it was too cold to go outside so we just enjoyed them right there. I would say if you're looking for a delicious fresh creative pastry spot, hit up Salswee, with your wallet, of course. read more
We walked into this place to escape the rain and they have such pretty desserts! The pear was the most impressive because it did in fact taste like a pear. The blueberry and mango (not pictured) were also delicious. I got a brownie dessert and black sesame cube croissant to take back and it was pretty solid too! read more

Came here late evening and their mango was all sold out. They had limited amounts of other items as well. Someone in front of us got the last Orange. By the time I got to the register, I got the last Pear (there were 2 when I entered). Plenty of the other ones left (see my pics). I took the Pear and Cloud cake home and the Pear one broke. They are fragile, so be careful transporting. I didn't think I would enjoy the Cloud one that much, but the praline center was really good and had me going for more bites. They are quite expensive pastries, carefully crafted and visually pleasing. Good for me to try once, but I wouldn't buy them on a regular basis. They do have croissants and other baked goods that look good, but I didn't purchase any. read more
One of my favorite bakeries in NYC. All their pastries are absolutely divine. I particularly love their savory croissants like the Mexican corn or the Swiss mushroom one- so good! Perfectly crispy and layered. I also got my husband the mango rice cake for this birthday and I was delicious. read more

Stumbled across this and decided to walk in. The desserts look so good - too good to eat. Got a few items to go - however beware that they are fragile and can easily crush. The desserts were still good. Also had a really good drink - coconut dream! read more

It's trendy. It's hip. With both a mix of tourists and locals -- this bakery is a go-to if you're in the vicinity of MSP. All trend talk aside, their pastries and offerings are legitimately really, really good. Easy on the eyes (hello Instagram worthy!) but more importantly, tasty and unique. With a good mix of old favorites (like the croissant) to a pistachio cube, Mexican corn and of course, the varieties of delicate and delicious cakes and treats -- there's something for every taste bud! I love that their serving sizes aren't huge - you can mix and match pastries, share (or not). The drinks have a variety if you're into specialty lattes -- my standbys are the americano and espresso which complement whatever pastry I'm in the mood for. One of my neighborhood go-tos after a day at the park with my little one! Fan favorites are the cinnamon roll, Mexican corn and flower tart. YUM. read more

Does each pastry have a different price?
Yes. Ranging from $3.50 and up. The fruit pastry's are more expensive with the banana one being the least it was $4.00 the last time I visited.
