Pleasure at the grocery store! I love this Lucky's location, the selection and cleanliness is impeccable. The customer service is out of sight, everyone goes above and beyond with stellar attitudes. Thank you Lucky's staff for turning my tedious task of the week into one of my highlights.

Shopping during the coronavirus pandemic! Don't normally come here to posh Los Altos, as the Luckys on North Mathilda and El Camino Real/Lawrence are closer to my house, and Safeway, Trader Joe, and Sprouts within easy walking distance to where I live. Only came here as my dentist was close by in Sunnyvale. Had difficulty finding the place, as hidden behind trees and not easily visible from the Foothill expressway. Standard architecture, rectangular building with no windows, except at the entrances, and bright red Lucky logo sign. Like casinos, windowless supermarkets designed to keep you inside as long as possible, with no view of the outside, to lose track of time. Small parking lot in need of resurfacing. Pandemic local ordinances: limit on number of people who can be in the store, social distancing 6 feet apart at the entrance, employees and customers required to wear masks and no outside shopping bags allowed. Senior citizen employee collecting and sanitizing the handles of the carts. Tuesday at 1pm, there is no line outside Luckys, unlike the Trader Joes 0.7 miles down Foothill expressway. Not as roomy inside as the Luckys on El Camino Real/Lawrence. Came here for their $7.99/lb Atlantic salmon, as opposed to sockeye salmon, which we don't like. This is the only supermarket chain that advertises Atlantic salmon on sale. Only problem is that the $7.99/lb is for a full fillet, which means 3+ pounds of fish. I go through about a dozen wrapped fillets, finally finding the smallest one for $23.41, compared to the $36.18 regular price. You know what the wife I will be eating for the next three dinners! Also stock up on 12 ounces of sliced bacon, normally $6.99, on sale for $2.99, and red cherries, on sale at $3.49 per pound. First time of the year they have red cherries, locally grown, on sale. You New York City yelpers won't find that on sale. Also get Driscoll's 2 pound pack of strawberries for $3.49. Things I might consider buying on another day if needed: 32 ounce rotisserie chicken at $6.99, $4.49 for 64 ounces of Oceanspray ruby red grapefruit drink, $3.70 gallon of milk (limit 2 per household), and $3.79 32 ounce nonfat plain yogurt, which my wife eats to keep slim. Shelves bare in the toilet paper and paper towel sections, taken immediately by hoarders, even with the limit of 1 purchase per household. We have 77 unused rolls of TP at home, purchased at Trader Joes, Safeway, Dollar Tree and Smart & Final during the first hour of opening on weekdays during the shelter in place which started March 17. Social distancing 6 feet apart at the check out counter, with a 6 minute wait. Plexiglass barrier between you and the early 20 year old cash register employee, not wearing gloves. Once the pandemic started, no geezers of either gender manning the cash registers, as it is the most dangerous job in the store, as getting the virus is life or death for us old farts, compared to people in their early 20s, who are likely asymptomatic. All sales final. Get the groceries in my car and check my text messages. Wife just got the supermarket ads in the mail Tuesday. Tells me to wait until tomorrow, Wednesday to go shopping at Luckys, when salmon will be on sale for $5.99 a pound, compared to $7.99 a pound today!

The store now has limited its hours more, Making it less convenient for shopping. Prices are comparatively higher. Our family will switch to another grocery market that caters to customers' needs more.

There are lots of uncommon fruits and veggies, like fresh jujube fruits, prickly pear cactus fruits, and specialty herbs and greens. The open-air market style also allows for individual selections of produce, and considerably less plastic packaging!! Don't forget your reusable bags, but if you do, they sell some and they even offer green, compostable produce bags available for any quantity you are in need of. Foothill Produce is particularly great for discount deals on ripe produce if you are keen on same-day recipes. They also have a large selection of European, Russian, Polish, Middle-Eastern, and Jewish foods (fresh and frozen). The market always has apples of almost every variety, seasonal products, fresh breads and challah, and plenty of standard groceries as well. Fingers crossed for a bountiful 2026. If you're debating stopping by, let this be your encouragement.

I had a very frustrating experience at this Safeway due to an expired "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" tag that was still on the shelf today. I mistakenly thought it was "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" and brought only two items to the self-checkout. After paying, I noticed I was charged for both. I went back to the shelf with a staff member and discovered it was actually "Buy 2 Get 1 Free". Even though I had already paid for two items at full price (which should entitle me to the 3rd free item per the posted sign), the staff member argued for a good 5 minutes that they couldn't give me the 3rd item because it wasn't scanned and the tag was old (the promotion expired nearly 3 weeks ago). I had to insist that it is the store's responsibility to honor the price they choose to display (Google "California Business and Professions Code § 12024.2"). Finally, a manager-level staff member stepped in and gave me the 3rd item. Check your receipts and the dates on tags! The pricing management and initial customer service at this location are very poor.

A TJ's review and a commentary on the limited-edition bags…read more Overall, I'd say that I like this store, but as with everything these days, there are occasionally some challenges. This store is generally organized and well stocked, but I do sometimes receive conflicting information about when out of stock items might be back in stock. Most of the crew members are nice and helpful, but a few offer opinions that are inappropriate for a business setting. I occasionally hear crew members complaining about customers and, while I realize that dealing with the general public can be challenging, I would like to remind these crew members that some of your co-workers have some fairly quirky personalities too. The only thing that seems to be really bothering a lot of customers lately are the inconveniences we encounter over the limited release bags. This store has done a good job of creating two lines, one for people who want bags and one for people who just want to do their grocery shopping. In spite of this good solution to deal with the volume of customers at these bag releases, things are getting worse. Last week the entire parking lot was taken over by people in line for bags. Those of us who just wanted to shop for groceries had to park in Walmart's lot and hike over to the store. I'm not sure what Trader Joe's agenda is with this manufactured scarcity of bags. I realize that logo bags are a marketing strategy to show brand loyalty, but these limited-edition bags only seem to be creating a market for the resellers on ebay and people sending them to international locations. These people usually only buy the bags, not groceries, and the congestion they're creating at the store level is only pissing off your loyal customers, i.e. the people who built your brand in the first place by shopping regularly at your stores. Why don't you just start selling them around the world? Your marketing strategy could be that Trader Joe is bringing something from a US store chain to people around the world.

I have been a loyal Trader Joe's customer for many years, but my recent experience has left me…read moreextremely disappointed. The last two times I purchased milk from your store, it spoiled approximately seven days before the printed expiration date, despite being properly refrigerated. This is not an isolated incident, which is why I brought the matter to the attention of the store manager. Rather than listening to my concern or offering to investigate the issue, the manager responded by telling me that I "obviously" do not understand what an expiration date means. He went on to claim that once milk is opened, it begins to spoil simply because it has been "exposed to air," implying that the expiration date is essentially irrelevant. I found both his explanation and his attitude unacceptable. I fully understand that opening milk shortens its shelf life, but properly refrigerated milk should not consistently spoil a week before the expiration date. Instead of addressing a legitimate quality concern, the manager chose to be dismissive, patronizing, and condescending. What concerns me even more than the spoiled milk is the way I was treated. Customers deserve to have their concerns heard and addressed with respect--not to be belittled or spoken to as though they are ignorant. After years of shopping at Trader Joe's, I never expected such poor customer service. I hope Trader Joe's will investigate both the recurring issue with the milk and the manager's conduct. I expect a company that values its customers to respond professionally and respectfully when legitimate concerns are raised.
