Called to order take out and the person who answered wasn't sure what we were ordering. We ordered 4 things (2 specials, Horta and skordiala). When we picked up the order only 1 special and the Horta were put through to the kitchen. The food tasted meh. I've had way better. Also, $18 for fried zucchini is outrageous! I guess you have to pay the rent somehow. If you are ordering for take out know that there is food pick in the back of the building (we were not told). I was yelled at by the valet as I waited for my partner to go inside THEN be told to go around the back. I had high hopes for a good Greek restaurant in the neighborhood; this is not it. read more

While we really enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the good service at Andros Taverna - it should have received a 4 star review - but lost a full star as it was just really expensive for what you got. The Andros salad was tasty and I thought the griddled cypriot halloumi was really good (albeit small). We also had the lemon garlic chicken, chicken Souvlaki and gyros - all good but just not worth the elevated prices in our opinion. We had martini's and then wine and both had elevated prices with seriously short pours. Service was good - though I did feel as though we were being rushed as several times they asked to remove plates while we were still eating. First Review This is the 2nd time coming to Andros and the experience was pretty much a "Suuure why not!" As soon as I walk into the place I was greeted by a "do you have a vaccination card?" I. Was. Shook!!! This is actually the first place I ever been to that requires proof of vaccination. I didn't have it with me at the time so the greeter promptly notified me that I can order food to go or sit outside in the 12 degree weather. I would have actually lost my shit if it wasn't for my hot date standing next to me so I decided to be as fake as I possibly can and agree that it was for the good of humanity and kittens. My date loved it!!!! The things you do for love... or other yearnings. Tee Hee. So lets get in on this. I ordered the George's Gyro, excuse me, Yeero. Don't wanna have a plate broken on me. The plate came with the pita, yeero meat, fries, greek salad and I believe spicy yogurt. The pita was oversized and delicious. There was some soft spots, some crispy spots, which both deserved a spot in my heart. The Yeero meat was very flavorful but still gave you the feeling of traditional. The salad tasted fresh and the fries are to live for. The fries a bit hard to describe. Tasty AF tbh, and vulgar, with a unique texture. They were served underneath the Yeero meat and some how never got soggy. Gangsta spud like a mutha. Okay, enough with the swears. As far as the environment is concerned, there's so many windows that it makes you feel like you're eating outside on a pleasant spring day. The staff were friendly at all times. Would I recommend and go back? Yes aannd yes. Now with that being said here's the only gripe I have with Mr. Andros. YES! the food is definitely on point with flavor and presentation, buuuuut. WOW. Seriously WOW. Hands down the BEST meal I've had in the last year. We ordered in on opening night and everything was incredibly delicious & spot on. We started w the oysters, the mezze platter and the Andros salad (not your average Greek salad w so many seasonal veg) - the ingredients were so fresh and the flavors so bright, balanced w the most delicious Greek olive oil, briny olives, the freshest feta + pillowy handmade pita. The lobster pasta and the lamb were both divine - great portions, seasoned perfectly and traveled so well. We also treated ourselves to a pastry box. Now, that was a special experience -- we were able to finish it off the next morning as breakfast (homemade granola + the most insane Greek yogurt, I can never have Chobani ever again and I'm cool with it). Wow what an incredible experience.. from the moment we walked in and noticed the beautiful ambience, we knew that we were in for an amazing date night. Our server had the best recommendations and was very accommodating. We ordered the zucchini chips with tzaki sauce - sooo tasty and huge serving. Georgie's gyros - another huge serving and very satisfying. Cheese pie topped with pistachio - a recommendation from the Infatuation food review and certainly one of the most unique tasty dishes I have had in awhile. Main course octopus - beautiful presentation and cooked perfectly.. our waiter recommended pairing It with the spinach feta rice side which was very tasty and pulled the octopus flavor together well. I can't believe I forgot to review this place. It's incredible. That homemade pita bread is the best I've ever had. Loved all the hummus options and dips. Delicious! I went yesterday with my boyfriend and had an amazing time. The food was so fresh, light, and tasty. We tried so many new foods that we have never had before and it did not disappoint. As a business owner myself, and dealing with customers all day, it was a disappointing experience at Andros Taverna. Didn't even get to the point of being seated. Had a reservation for 8:15pm on a Friday. Got there around 8:05pm. My wife and I didn't expect to get seated right away. So we stood with our masks on inside. There were 2 other couples who were waiting to be seated as well. A Few min later, another party came inside as well. We were all more than 6 feet apart from each other and wearing masks. Standing waiting area is large enough to accommodate 4-5 couples. Around 8:15pm, I assume a manager approached all of us waiting and stated that restaurant reached maximum capacity and asked us to wait outside, and will call us to be seated. Some of us complied and stepped outside, some remain indoors. It wasn't freezing, but it was in mid 30s which I felt uncomfortable to be standing outside. After 10 min passed and we were not called to be seated, my wife and I walked across the street to another restaurant. We were NEVER called to be seated. I was referred to Andros Taverna by my client, whose daughter is an employee there. And restaurant being brand new and struggling with pandemic shut downs, I wanted to support the new business. ( my business was shut down as well, so I know first hand struggles) I wish the management had a different approach on scheduling the seating times and allowing patrons to wait indoors. read more

LAMB SHANK! It was very good. The restaurant itself was smaller than the other RPM restaurants but Andros has the best food.

The food was terrific and the restaurant is beautiful - given Doug Paltis' brilliant track record this is no surprise. We tried a number of dishes and all were great. I must say that even though available in many places, this is the best Gyros I have ever had. Barramundi also delicious and you'll love the beet salad. My daughter and I along with two friends visited Andros Taverna for the first time on Wednesday. We sat outside on the patio which was nice. Jessica was our server. She was truly delightful. She made suggestions which we tried and loved everything. We started with the mezze collection which was wonderful. Then we went on to the grilled octopus which was delicious and tender,beet and feta salad, lemon chicken, and potatoes which were also very good. I will definitely go back to try other things. That octopus! Do yourself a favor and order it! So tender and flavorful, my favorite dish of the evening. Andros taverna was a great meal. A bit pricey for the portion sizes. My other favorite dish was the taramosalata dip. We ordered the dip trio, accompanied by the world's best pitas. The other two dips were good, but the taramosalata definitely stood out. Other dishes we had were the little sausages (ok), prawn saganaki (good, but the best part of this dish was actually the bread, ordered separately), one of the whole fishes off. The specials menu (amazing), and the Andros salad (standard fare salad, good). The desert, in my opinion, was underwhelming (we had the baklava froyo and the vanilla soufra). Atmosphere was nice trendy. Food was ok for a place that just opened. The mezze wasn't bad the kalamakia need some oregano more Greek seasonings and ladolemono. The 2 dips tarma and tzatziki had a lot salt and tzatziki too much dill needs garlic. Lamb was ok over cooked and not tender. The lobster pasta was good. All the food came out cold. The best was the oysters and pita bread. As far as desserts the filio pastry was good and halvas. Kourabedithes wasn't good. Looking forward to other menu We decided to give it a second chance with friends well we were all disappointed. The device is terrible don't think we saw our waiter always looking for him forgot our other appetizer that we had asked for. We sat at 7 and at dinner at 9:15. If you plan on ordering the gyros you will get and not exaggerating 7 French fries and possibly 7 pieces of burnt meat and the pita bread was bigger than the plate. Unfortunately we won't be coming again and not sure how everyone leaves this great reviews unless they are not folks who are really true customers. This place is FABULOUS! Can't say enough about the food and the service. Ambience was very comfortable as well! We were sorry to only be able to eat here one night as we were on a short visit to Chicago, but we plan to eat here if we ever go back! There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try. Everything we ordered was delicious and we got an extra dish as an apology from the kitchen for overcooking our lamb chops, which never came to the table, they just felt like they had over cooked them in the kitchen and they started over. We only knew this because we were just starting to feel like our food was taking a little too long and the manager came over and explained the situation to us. Amazing!! Great experience overall.
