We come here fairly often, especially in the summer, but I see that I have not updated my review since 2018, so it is time. We went here for dessert on the way home from Mi Cocina on a Sunday evening. The weather was not hot but Andy's was very busy with walk ups and drive thru. When this store first opened I thought to myself there is no way that it will be successful. I was really wrong. Andy's has thrived and seems like it is always busy with neighborhood customers. The quality of the desserts is consistently very high. This time, I tried something with fudge, caramel, nuts, and a cherry with vanilla ice cream (I call it ice cream although I know it is custard). I forget the name but it was really tasty. Maybe a bit too sweet but basically really good. The kid got chocolate with lots of cherries on top. Andy's has stood the test of time and delivers consistently good product. There can be blips in the service but they get them correctly quickly without any hassle. This is my second time visiting this location & i am unsatisfied to put it lightly. Not with the product itself but considering the fact they charge 8 dollars for a small shake and for their staff to have 0 customer service skills is insane. The shop itself is very cozy & almost retro. Circling back to the service when i went in the drive thru the young man they had outside with a tablet walked up to my car & just stared at me & waited for me to speak first. Okay so I accidentally stumbled upon this place and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! It is located in a small shopping plaza and its honestly a great place for frozen custard. The menu is simple and their flavors are standard which I love. Mind you, this is custard so it is very rich. I ordered the banana split which obviously can be split 2-4 ways because it was massive. I only ate a quarter of it before it melted. That's the only downside of this place because the custard melts easily. During COVID you cannot sit and eat your custard in premises. You can order through the drive through or the walk up window but you have to take it to go. It's not a big deal but its discouraging because you have to eat frozen custard quickly and since you cant eat there, the custard melts. Great news though! There are plenty of parking spots in the plaza sotou can stay there. Also, there is a park less than 1/4 mile down the street which has places to sit and enjoy your custard. This place is AWESOME! I've gone here for years and enjoyed many different varieties, but ultimately I come back to the almond dinger quite often. Today I ordered it and as I was driving home, trying to figure out why it didn't taste very good realized it wasn't even made correctly and they had put bananas and peanut butter only I called them immediately to let them know they need to stop selling something with an ingredient that people can be allergic to. I told them I can't eat bananas and the guy told me it was my fault for not telling them. I said why would I tell you I can't have bananas when I'm ordering something that has no bananas in it so instead of an apology or concern from my incorrectly made product , they turned it into my fault. I've ordered an Allmendinger many times. Why would I expect there to be a banana in it? You'll wish you had more custard because they give you so much fudge with this flavor. Lots of toppings and sauces to chose from. I kept hearing for years that this place was a must go to for ice cream and shakes! My date began reminding me of an eight year old when I mentioned we should give this place a try with WAY more excitement than I expected! As we were on foot, up to the large glass fronted structure we went. There was a short line and we didn't have to wait long. I did notice the drive through was getting a bit faster service so I'll try that NEXT time. After watching the team make a shake and some concoction called a concrete, I opted for a chocolate shake. Granted, custard is a slightly higher egg content than ice cream and tends to make it richer, but I didn't find the flavor much different than the cheaper shakes of the cheaper fast foods. I'm sure this one was of higher ingredients (I hope for the extra cost anyway).
