Look at my profile pictures C-; " They have very whimsical Law art, beautiful windchimes at all price ranges, hummingbird feeders in every shape and style that you can imagine. " I bought one that the lady recommended for hummingbirds and Orioles alike." They have all kinds of bird feed from small bags to what looks like 50lb sacks. They also sell bird feeders of all sizes and shapes and I even spotted a couple bird baths in the store for sale. I signed up for their news letter that have bird watching dates throughout the year that I can sign up for in different locations to go with groups on birdwatching excursions. I wanted to add a bird bath and a bird feeder in my backyard, but I didn't know the first thing about birds. Lisa, the owner, talked though several options and made recommendations given my preferences (e.g. budget, placement, do you want to deal with empty shells on the ground, etc.). I purchased a bird feeder, bird food, and a bird bath which I setup later that evening. The very next day, there were probably 20-30 birds that visited the feeder (I have no idea how they found it so quickly, I'm guessing that they might actually recognize the model of the feeder), and two that spent time on the bath (that I saw). It was a huge success. The next day I added a cheap solar fountain pump to the bath and at one point I saw EIGHT BIRDS on the bird bath (and the feeder was even more popular). Visiting this store probably saved me a dozen hours of researching online. I'll happily support them with my money whenever I can. BTW, they don't sell solar fountain pumps. Lisa told me that they are flaky and they don't want to sell something that they can't stand behind. I wholeheartedly agree with this philosophy. In the era of instant Amazon.com availability, curation and expertise has become much more valuable, and that's what you're getting from Los Gatos Birdwatcher. I love this store! (They don't sell birds at the store). My kids come here to buy bird food (they think birds needs as much food as them ... heheh) the store is a true gem for bird lovers. Everything you need for enjoying birds. I hung out browsing for a good 45 minutes and I'm not even a bird person. Super nice staff. Reasonable prices for good quality products. I purchased a nice feeder for my wife for Xmas. After the purchase I asked if they had a box I could put it in, a few minutes later she comes back out with the feeder beautifully bubble wrapped and Xmas wrapped. Was not expecting that! In addition to bird stuff they have loads of wonderful wind chimes and a fun selection of socks. Funny enough, most of the socks were not bird related. Just really cool socks. I'm a beginner birder and I went to the Los Gatos Birdwatcher for some binoculars, a guide book, a feeder and bath. Lisa and (I didn't catch the other woman's name , doh!) Helped me pick everything out. Lisa stood outside with me and we identified a couple birds with the binoculars I was choosing between. She was so knowledgeable and helpful. It's a very welcoming environment and everyone who works there has been helpful during my 3 visits. Their selection is HUGE! From 10+ types of gourmet bird seed, all types of feeders for seeds, suet, thistle, nectar and fruit. I got a squirrel proof feeder! They have poles and baffles, bird baths and water movers, wind chimes, binoculars, plenty of guide books, and wildlife themed home decor. I have had my bird feeder and the Patio Mix bird seed for 2 weeks and I went from bird flyovers to having 10+ birds on my feeder and on the ground at a time. I've identified different types of birds so far. I highly recommend this store for anyone who is interested in watching birds in their backyard or who plan to go out into the wild! read more

I've been a customer of the store for many many years for both feeding birds patio birds and for the great selection of bird themed gifts they have in stock. The shop is very attractive and well laid out. It's one of my very favorite shops to browse around in to see all the curiosities and useful items and pretty things. I get most of my stocking stuffers and hostess gifts here. Indeed it is my favorite place to buy socks, shirts and pjs. I also buy garden accessories; and I got an awfully good pair of binoculars for my needs with the advice of the staff that works there. I've always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions, and I appreciate that very much. The store is a great addition to the community, and the website is useful for the care and nurturing wild birds. The regular birding outings and nature activities for kids were a wonderful way to encourage nature lovers of all ages. I hope they will start that up again when the pandemic situation is more manageable. read more

When I asked today why a Pine Siskin would eat a safflower over another seed I was cut off short by a staff member. When I asked her if they had safflower seed seed she said 'Yes, over there'. And she walked away. I'm a computer scientist not an ornithologist. So I will continue to feed birds. But I'll buy online. When you buy online, no one can be rude to you. Let me get one thing straight-I love this bird boutique. They have a great variety of food and gifts. However. This is the SECOND time I have gone into this store gloved and masked up only to find their employees are NOT wearing masks. The first time the older woman practically spit on me with her eyes when I asked where her mask was. "in my pocket". AND NEVER PUT IT ON. Today-same person, same deal. She had gloves on, no mask. Again I asked her about her mask. "Oh I put it on when I get close to people". I said "YOU ARE CLOSE TO ME!!!". Again she NEVER put on her mask, even I told her I will never shop there again. Another younger employee did not have a mask on, but retreated to the back when I went in. Now I know this lady is just an employee, not a manager, but she is responsible for giving safety instructions to her employees. I am in a high risk group for Covid 19. I expect employees of the businesses I frequent to actually care about me as a customer. Needless to say, I will not shop there again until this issue is taken care of. You have replied to this by email and stated you've done all you could do. Your employees refuse to wear their masks and you refuse to follow state and county guidelines for staying open as an essential business. You refuse to have them put their masks on when people enter the store. How much do you actually care for your customers? Not much. read more

Third time in this store in so many years. Third time, same thing....Not overly busy or crowded each time but.....No one asks me "can I help you find something" or says "let me know if you need some help" as I hear the owner and her employees ask all the other customers who come in. This last time I was in there for about 30 min looking for a gift for a friend/fellow bird lover. Not a peep (no pun intended). I don't think I look too offensive or radical wearing my gap khakis and plain v-neck top. Was it the color of my skin or shape of my eyes? At the register, I hear them ask customers "Are you in our system?" and, if not, ask if they would like to be. Third time in I notice they don't ask ppl of color this question. Second time purchasing something here and it was the same story. I guess you have to be local and LOOK like a bird lover to get friendly service. Wasnt really interested in bird watching, but wanted to give it a try. I was prepared to spend $30 on binoculars, but Laurie convinced us to buy the Nikon Prostaff 3 ($120). Im so glad she did cause I wouldve never found out how fun it is if I bought some cheapies. The difference is day and night and will make or break your experience. My girlfriend and I are now enthusiastic beginner birders thanks to Laurie. The owner is very knowledgable(birder of 40 years) and will help guide you in the right direction. I LOVE the Los Gatos Birdwatcher! I am an amateur birdwatcher, mostly identifying the birds in my backyard and immediate area. I LOVE that I can always call or text the owner, Lisa Myers or her knowledgeable staff to ask which species it might be. I have also purchased client gifts at the store and my clients love them! My clients are elderly and tend to have everything already but love the fun socks, suncatchers, hanging dragonflies, butterflies and hummingbirds. I love the Wild Bird Center - I used to work at The Wooden Horse toy store, a few doors down from the Wild Bird Center, and loved to go in and walk around on my break. They have beautiful gifts for all nature-lovers and an amazing selection of windchimes, garden accessories, and of course, bird seed! They do free gift-wrapping too - which is great! Of course, the primary reason I love this place so much is the owners - Freddy and John Howell are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They know every customer's name - they'll remember you if you strike up a conversation with them - and they know absolutely everything about all of the great products they sell. They are also big dog-lovers, and welcome you bringing in your dog. They'll probably even have a treat or two for it! :) The best thing about this store, though, is what a warm neighborhood vibe it has - it's so refreshing to go to a store where the people who work there are friendly and actually want to help you.
