We moved using ANDY's (North American Agent) cross country, from Sunland, CA to Charleston, WV. I would never recommend using them for an interstate move or use them again in the future, due to the following: Shelly King came out to estimate the job a couple of weeks prior to the scheduled move. She assured us that her estimate was without financial risk because if the actual weight came in lower, we would receive a credit. She estimated the total weight approximately 17K pounds @ $1.00 per pound = $17K. I received the weight from the driver (not the office clerk, Kimberly, as promised) both before and after loading. The actual weight came in at approximately 10K pounds. Thinking I was getting a credit of over $5K on the total moving cost, due to difference between actual and estimated weight, I called the office. Of course, it was then I found out that they only refund 30% of the difference between actual and estimated weight. What a scam!! They came out to our home, made a hugely overstated estimate, weight comes in about 40% lower, (actual weight is off from estimate by 40%) and then they only credit 30% of overage. According to Shelly, I should have only paid approximately $10,000 in weight charges. However, I was still paying for $15K in weight charges (17K-(30%X(17k-10K))=$14.9K. I should have been paying $10K, as the weight came in at 10K pounds. However, I was charged for 15K pounds as I only received a credit for 30% of the overage. Get it? What a scam! Next, I was told that my shipment would arrive at our new home in 7-10 days. However, the day after loading, I was told that my load did not fit on the original Andy's moving truck from NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES. Approximately 26 boxes of various sizes were going to have to be shipped by another trucking company. Andy's was not sure when I would receive the rest of my items as they had to locate another shipper to pick up the items that didn't make it with the main load and ship to us separately. We received the rest of the shipment a week later than the original load. To add insult to injury, the day the rest of the items arrived, we determined that 2 of our boxes were lost and 3 had not been tagged on the packing day at all. There had been NO ACCOUNTABILITY for our total inventory. Moral of the story, if you are making a long distance, interstate move, do not use ANDY's unless you want to deal with a loss of your items, a false estimate and incomplete delivery. I will be making a formal complaint to NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES, for whom ANDY's is an agent. read more

I picked Andy's by way of picking North American Van Lines. They were my most expensive quote, but I didn't want to risk it and penny pinch for a cross country move CA to OH. They were efficient with the loading, but here's the thing. I painstakingly labeled all my boxes with what's in each one, but on their inventory load list it's just a number and notation of "packed by owner" unless you pay them to pack in which case they write "TV". Therein lies a huge problem when it comes to getting your things delivered. They stored my items for 3 months until we bought our house in OH at which time THEY contacted a driver to get my things out of storage and transported to OH. Driver arrives in OH but it's only him and one other guy. No way they can unload and carry all my heavy things -- 3 story house. There were 6 guys in CA loading and it took nearly all day. When I questioned driver, he got VERY ANGRY. I couldn't reach Andy's since it was 6am PST. Called NA Van Lines locally said they couldn't help. Up to Andy's or driver to hire more people. So for 3 hours my husband who had just had surgery and my 72 yr old father are trying to help unload. Meanwhile the driver is refusing to carry any boxes upstairs, which of course is to be included in what I paid! Now Andy's is open and they REFUSE, yes REFUSE to do anything, instead pointing responsibility to the driver for hiring more people. But I didn't pick this driver! Andy's contracted with this driver! I contracted with NA Van Lines, who dispatched my move to Andy's! So everyone washed their hands of responsibility. The driver got extremely hostile because I called Andy's and "told on him". So now he threatens to leave right then with all my items still on his truck. Yes that's right, he threatened to "steal" all my items unless I called back Andy's and "lied" to them and told them everything was fine. It wasn't! He was refusing to carry any boxes upstairs or downstairs, just putting everything in my living room and he was throwing boxes around and not being careful with our things. My dad wanted to call the cops the guy was getting so hostile but I was afraid he'd take off and steal my belongings. Finally 2 other kids showed up to help, because the OH local NA Van Lines movers understood my stress and decided to help. They were about 18 or 19 but if it weren't for them I don't know what would have happened. They carried all the items upstairs, downstairs and put our beds together as was supposed to happen. There were 4 boxes not checked off the inventory list but driver wouldn't let us look for them on truck. Also couldn't find couch legs and he broke our recliner and broke the footboard on our bed. Driver started getting very hostile and physical toward my dad again who wanted to look for the items in the truck and threatened to take off driving and lock my dad in the truck. I called Andy's again. Again they said nothing they could do. Really?? So I had to give up on the 4 boxes and hope nothing real valuable was in them. I reported this problem to the owner. Nothing. I reported this issue to N A Van Lines. Nothing. Well guess what was in one of those boxes. My wedding dress. For 27 years I've had that wedding dress and it's survived 3 previous moves. They ruined the dreams of my daughters wearing portions of dress or veil when they get married. Now it's lost forever. Once again neither Andy's nor NA Van Lines would do anything about it. Shameful company. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY OR NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES. THEY ACCEPT ZERO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DANGEROUS REPREHENSIBLE ACTIONS OF PEOPLE DOING YOUR MOVE. read more

We just finished a move from La Crescenta CA to Spokane WA, using Andys. Everyone here is super helpful and friendly. Robert was our driver and I can not say enough about how impressed we were with the service we got from start to finish, these guys really hustle and are impressive in the way they get the job done. We had a driveway which the van could not enter and Robert had to get a U-Haul and unload at the street and shuttle our stuff up to the house and unload again and haul it inside. The guys in La Crescenta and Spokane worked non-stop and in 90 degree heat with high humidity They are the rock stars of the moving companys. This is the third time we have used Andys, and I highly recomend their services. read more

We had these guys come in for an estimate. We chose not to use them for one simple reason. They make an estimate based on what they think the weight of your belongings will be and charge you based on that weight. Do you know how much your possessions weigh? Of course not. So they could say anything, just as any moving company could say anything. The only safeguard I found that Andy's built in is that they will refund you $43.19 for every 100 lbs. that they estimated above the actual weight. Shipping costs about $1/lb, more or less. With those basic numbers, you can see that there is an incentive for them to over-estimate the weight using this policy; you might get some money back, but they would also make money on that over-estimate. I am not claiming they do this maliciously; after all, I have no idea how much all my stuff weighs. Maybe the guy was just way off, or maybe the other companies I brought in were way under. What I do know is that I had three estimates from three different moving companies: 5,200 lbs 8,000 lbs 10,300 lbs The third was from Andy's. I would suggest going with a company that gives you a binding estimate that you are comfortable paying. Don't get involved with anyone who isn't willing to just say, hey, this is what it is going to cost and that is that. read more

Considering I spent over $3500 to transport a small bedroom apartment, they did not fully reimburse me for an expensive Vornado fan ($100) that they themselves forgot to label in my apartment, and therefore failed to show up on the moving list. I moved from Sherman Oaks (LA) to the WDC area in April 2017. Andy's Transfer & Storage packed and transfered my goods to a North American truck which transported my goods cross country. I had the Protection Plan and paid just under $13,000 to have my possessions transported from one point to the other. Here' s the problem: Andy's Storage entirely lost a closet shelf of goods (valued at about $1000) that were shown in a video I made immediately prior to the move. None of those items arrived at the destination. The crew failed to give a number to the box for inventory. No number, no reimbursable claim, regardless of videos or photos. I should have anticipated a problem in the move because during the packing process, at one point, the crew mindlessly packed my house/car keys. Soon after, I noticed that my keys were missing and halted the packing process until the keys were restored to me. Using Andy's, you will find yourself the victim of its carelessly implemented packing procedures and your protection plan won't protect you. If Andy's fails to put a number on every single box and/or list it on your inventory sheets, any claim you make will not be successful. North American did honor my claim for broken crystal glasses (irreplaceable) but refused the missing items even though my contract was for the transport of all my goods from one point to the other. The loss started with using Andy's as a packer. read more

I have viewed the negative reviews on Yelp! and I can tell you that they do not reflect what this company is about. I pay a little more with Andy's - but I get more. They also do my wood-crate furniture storage in their warehouse. They are a FAMILY company, not some mega-franchise that treats you like a number. If you are looking for personalized service, this is the company to use. Though I purchase some degree of insurance, I've never had to use it. Their guys have been around for years, and know what they do. With moving, "you get what you pay for". I'm 100% satisfied with this company. read more

When my dad and stepmom moved from Chicago to Los Angeles they had everything in their basement shipped to their new city. They've been out there for about two years and had never checked on their stuff, so on a recent visit I made an appointment to see what was in the storage unit. I was a little nervous because of negative Yelp reviews and because I was confused as to whether their items were stored at Closetbox or Andy's Transfer and Storage (as it turns out, they are, at least in Glendale, the same company). The day before my scheduled visit I received a friendly call from Closetbox confirming my appointment and reminding me to bring ID. The next day my brother and I drove out there and the staff met us and opened the storage box, a large wooden crate inside a large warehouse (like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark on a smaller scale). The warehouse seemed clean and organized. The staff was cordial. And when they opened the crate, there was all my dad's stuff: boxed, taped, labeled, neatly arranged. There was a table and a stand-up mirror I remembered from the old apartment, both wrapped in cloth and in fine shape. I wanted to find a few photos and magazines, so the guy helping us pulled out all the boxes and loaned me his box cutter. I dug through the boxes as he waited patiently. In a couple of boxes the magazines had room to slide and were bending a bit, so he found some large sheets of paper and crumpled them up and stuffed them into the box to help the magazines stay upright. Then, when I found and removed what I was looking for he made notes on his pad about what had been removed, then re-taped everything and put it back in and sealed up the crate as my brother and I took off. He was friendly and accommodating, as was everyone else I met. The next day Closetbox called back and left a voicemail saying they wanted to make sure everything had gone smoothly. The morning of the move came and the crew was there early, professional, and clean. We've been using Andy's for both moving and storage since 2009, and they've done it all for us: huge jobs, small jobs (most recently today) and storage (enormous units and tiny units) for us and other family members. They were on time and professional. The only negative so far is that since the move was from a condo and an elevator fob was needed, I'd lent them mine. Well, we both forgot about it and they left without returning it to me. The office personnel was very nice when I called to let them know and they promised to mail it back. Unfortunately when I received it, the inner envelope where the key fob was supposed to be was empty. I ordered a new one and they asked that I just deduct the cost from their payment. read more

We did our own packing and Andy's had 10 guys and 4 trucks to get the stuff down the street. The movers arrived on time and took care of the specifics that both buildings required for prep work prior to being able to use the freight elevator. They were a pleasure to work around, pleasant and cooperative the entire time. They even volunteered to take things that I had left out at the time of the estimate at no charge to us. We recently used Andy's Transfer (via North American) to do a small residential move from Pasadena to downtown LA and we were really impressed and happy with how things went. We had never used a moving company before and were nervous that everything would go smoothly. On the day of the move, we had Pablo, Jose and Matt helping us. They arrived right on time and all three were very polite, professional and great at what they did. They took care of our belongings (no breakages and everything was carefully wrapped up), gave us wardrobe boxes to easily move our clothes and our stuff was packed up and unloaded surprisingly quickly. We would definitely use them again if we decided to move in the future, they made everything very easy and it was much less hassle than renting a truck and doing the move ourselves (been there done that!). After alot of searching and alot of concerns caused by reading "moving horror stories" we selected Andy's Transfer & Storage to move my mother in law from Downey to Arizona.The move was done as promised and at the quoted cost. The movers assigned to the job were friendly, straight forward and honest. There were no surprises and no problems. One of the horror stories we feared was the end of move added on charges. This did not happen. I will add, however, that we told the estimator everything we could think of involved with the move. I highly recommend that Los Angeles people consider Andy's Transfer & Storage if planning a move. My impression of the company is that they are honest people simply trying to make an honest living. We used Andy's Transfer & Storage to move cross country and it was an absolute nightmare! When my husband's company moved him to the East Coast this summer, we did our research and interviewed three big name moving companies. Andy's Transfer was the local rec from North American Van lines ... which should have made us skeptical but Tas (the rep that came to our house) was so lovely and trustworthy (HA!) that we went with Andy's Transfer. We were assured that they are part of the NA Van lines company and the driver that packed our truck in California would be the same person we met at our new house in Michigan. We were also promised that my husband's custom motorcycle would be treated like a breakable and packed top to bottom so nothing would touch it. Long story short - the truck was THREE weeks late to our new house, it changed drivers at least three times, and the motorcycle wasn't packed in anything ... just thrown on the truck. Not only did the motorcycle sustain over $2k in damages, our white couch cushions were thrown into the truck on top of the boxes and were FILTHY, and we had damage to our couch and multiple pieces of furniture. We did file a claim with NA Van Lines and after two months did get a small amount back specifically for the motorcycle ... ONLY because we took photos and video of it coming off the truck and had noted the odometer reading prior to the move (the NA rep initially accused us of wrecking the motorcycle and trying to blame it on the move). I would have given zero stars but it wasn't an option. read more

I had a really bad experience with them. In short, they went back on their word. When I complained about the added charges they announced upon their arrival on moving day, they simply left. They brought a much bigger truck and wanted to charge me for an extra mover (3 instead of 2). I called the manager and he said a move is up to the driver not him. read more
