    Spicy mango margarita
    Maxine T.

We saw tableside guac on the menu and immediately said YES. We got some margaritas to start - mine the spicy mango marg with tajin rim and my husband got just the regular margarita. Tableside guac of course for our app and someone came to our table to mix it all up for us. We shared the birria tacos (comes with 3) and added a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans weren't my favorite, I like a traditional Mexican rice and beans better. The tacos were great though! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place right in the heart of downtown Banff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here for a quick lunch and would like to say my partner and I from LA and San Diego so honestly we weren't expecting much when it came to Mexican in banff, but we were proven wrong! It was super delicious and honestly exceeded our expectations. The wait staff was so friendly in helping us decide what to get and service was super quick! I think we waited maybe 10 minutes haha. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is also very cute, lots of seating and located in the heart of downtown.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We loved it!

We were craving Mexican food while visiting Banff and that's how our story with Anejo started. Thankfully didn't have to wait for a table and were able to snag a nice U shaped booth. Our server greeted us immediately and was super kind, friendly, and elevated our experience. She gave us some helpful tips for the menu and also some perspective on Banff as a local. To start, we ordered the tortilla soup. Let it be known, it was the best tortilla soup I have ever had; so good, so spicy, so tasty. For my main, I had an assortment of 3 tacos (1 fish, 2 chicken tinga). I appreciated that the tacos were not drenched in a bunch of sauces and had fresh ingredients that complemented the protein. Overall, loved the food and felt satisfied.

Good food and exceptional service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With outdoor seating and family friendly, it's one of the gems to eat at the banff downtown.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We enjoyed our food and drinks in the perfect summer of banff. I hope you do to.

Carnitas and fish, not a lot of flavor

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly service and a mixed break from the Banff street crowds, not busy at 1:30 but we had reservations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great guacamole mixed tableside. Tacos were just ok, we had corn and they were kind of soft and floppy room temp, would have been better warmed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at a booth which was nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Happy hour margarita

We stopped in while visiting Banff before our dinner reservation because we were both very hungry. We opted for ordering off the happy hour menu. We got the house margaritas and two tacos. Both were very flavorful and hit the spot. Highly recommend if you're in Banff and looking for a comfortable, casual Mexican restaurant, check out Anejo.

I didn't like that, I don't want some cheap sad looking salad, I'd rather just pay for what I want to eat. You get paper napkins at a this sit down restaurant. I couldn't taste any pesto in the fettuccine. The dish was mediocre, nothing special. My server was attentive. As I was walking to my table I saw a guy throwing up at his table and the hostess said he's a regular. Wait you know he does this and you seat him in the middle of the restaurant where everyone can watch and lose their appetite? I sat in the back on a high table next to the window and even though the blinds were down right next to me, the sun was still so hot on my face. You need to reapply your sunscreen before sitting there.

Perfectly cooked, insanely flavorful, and worth every dollar. It's also dope that they let you choose your own steak knife, which adds to the whole experience. Adam was hands-down a big reason the night was so good -- he helped with drink recommendations, set the tone, and really tied the entire dinner together. And do not skip dessert -- the 1888 Sundae is absolutely worth it. I could honestly eat two by myself. Great food, great service, would 100% come back.

The milk bread also took long to arrive though. I like that they can make any drink here. This place had the best espresso martini I tried while I was in Banff. They just can't make a pina colada because they don't have a blender. I highly recommend the ribeye. You get a lot of meat for what you pay and it was delicious. There's not a strict dress code enforced. You can dress up or be casual. I wouldn't recommend dressing too casual but I did see people arrive in very casual outfits such jeans, knit sweaters and a santa hat.

We started with two small plates and a vegetable: Salmon Crudo, Pickled Marinated Fried Chicken and the Cabbage. Wow. Wow. Wow. We decided to eat each one entirely before moving to the next one. Each one had such unique flavors, we wanted to focus on them and enjoy without confusing our taste buds. I highly recommend doing this! Then we ordered the Lamb dish. Our menu said it was going to be a curry dish, but when it arrived it was a Mediterranean dish. It was honestly dreamy! But we were confused because I guess we had a copy of the old menu. Nonetheless, I basically licked the plate! Lastly we ordered the chocolate salted caramel budino (pudding) for dessert. It was so luscious and went perfectly with our end of dinner hot drinks of tea and cappuccino. The serviced matched the food: also fantastic. Super professional and friendly waitress (I forgot to ask her name) she was so personal and we enjoyed talking to her. They comp'd our lamb because of the menu mixup which was so nice! While waiting for everyone to come & settle down, they were serving appetizers. Everything on the menu was so delicious. Drinks were good! Tried the wine they were offering - Cabernet, ot was earthy, dry, just perfect. I had mocktails but decided that a shot of tequilla won't hurt. Had to do a repeat on that - yep, it was that good. Main course was absolutely light. Had the chicken, my dad had the fish, and my mom had the beef - we had a taste of everything. The dessert was a flourless chocolate cake that tasted really good. I was surprised at how goodot was. I did not get to try their menu because it was already pre ordered but i would definitely be trying it out next time. Before I forget, staff was super accomodating. The wait staff was pleasant knowledgeable and accommodating. We were in a large party so we had a semi private dining area. Their specialty cocktails were great and very appealing to the eye in regard to the presentation upon delivery to the table. Very well put together flavour notes hit. The noise level in the restaurant was perfect for socializing so no complaints there. We did have a large party which probably pushed the kitchen staff a bit because some of the plating of a few dishes came out and were not complete ( 2out3 dishes came missing some plating components) when we made a comment to the waiter he went to investigate. They realized the issue and made a course correction on our bills which was appreciated. I hade the pork chops and I'll say the plating presentation was good but the quality of the the chops not so much, now I've worked in the industry in the past so I usually give a wide birth when it comes to the doneness of my proteins. But these were over cooked or seemed to have been cooked from a frozen state because they were dry as an Alberta summer. Not to mention tough and for that reason is why I'm only giving a 3 out of 5. Pork chops should be cooked through but full of juice these definitely missed the mark. The other components of the dish were great cooked proper with a perfect balance of seasoning. I'd come stop in again if I was in town but I'd probably wouldn't get the chops again.

It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well.
