Was walking around town and saw that this place advertised authentic Mexican food. We had a great meal here. They make the guacamole fresh in front of you which is a nice touch. I am visiting from California so Mexican food is everyday for me. I wish this place was in my town. Atmosphere is great, service was just the right amount of attention, and the food was excellent. I had three tacos and tortilla soup. The fish taco was awesome imo. Pork was as expected and great. The beef is generally chopped flank in cali not shreaded but the flavor was still on point and the menu does say barbacoa. Try the White Hot Mayo, I don't like mayo but this stuff was bomb. Prices were great considering its Banff. I will absolutely return here next time. read more

For what it is, this place is awesome Mexican food. Didn't think I'd find a good spot this far from California or further south but these tacos are bomb. I loved the pork carnitas and fish tacos. The beef wasn't quite as good but was still great. Margaritas were excellent as well. I tried the cadiallac, mango, and guava. All outstanding. On top of the good food, the service was great and friendly and the prices were very cheap. The happy hour past 9pm is an absolute steal and will fill you up with awesome food for $3 CAD a taco. It was raining heavily outside and the ramen bar next door has closed. So we decided to try on this Mexican restaurant. The food is good - guacamole is super fresh as they handmade upfront. We ordered a place with shrimp, it looks like Indian food to me but it's super hot. Really a lifesaver during cold rainy weather. And the tacos- love the fish one, but overall they are a bit cold. Went to this place alone after my conference had completed. What a gem! Jordan, my waiter, made me feel right at home. I started with the mandarin and walnut margarita, but made with Mezcal instead of Tequila. What fabulous complex flavors! The appetizer and the main course did not disappoint. The flavors at this place explode! The Dia de los Muertos vibe is fun and just a little edgy. I would like to take one star away just because the hostess said I couldn't sit at a cozy banquette because those were reserved. However, this was 8 PM on a Sunday night, and of course, no one else showed up for the empty four banquette seats behind me the entire time. We are large party of 14 people (4 families) including kids. We called Anejo at peak lunch hour while we were still 30 minutes away but heading towards Banff. They put our name on a waitlist and said it would take approximately 45 minutes to accommodate such a large party on short notice. We had done a lot of research to find legit Mexican food in Banff and looking at the menu this seemed our best bet. This place definitely surpassed our expectations. Not only was the food awesome but the service was impeccable and with a smile. You can watch marine how chaotic taking orders for 4 separate families with different tastes and dietary restrictions can be, but Mia (our server) was extremely patient and did it with a smile. Definitely 5 stars for service. The ambiance and decor were really nice too. The bar was well stocked with over 100 different tequilas and our Margaritas and Palomas were smooth and well made. The food was absolutely delicious. Very very flavorful and lots of options for vegetarians, vegans and non-vegetarians. Decor is great and staff friendly. I ordered a salsa sampler and loved it. Now for the downside. My wife ordered a shrimp ranchero. A dish she's ordered often at other Mexican restaurants. It was too spicy for her to eat. I tasted it and wouldn't finish it. We told two staff about the issue. Both said they'd mention it to the chef. A few had weird spice combinations that didn't quite pan out. We're from Arizona, so we know our tacos. Out of all the salsas, only one was good, but the queso was excellent. Drinks were average. We didn't care much for the sangria. Service was okay. Nothing special, but they got the job done. Overall, it was a good meal, but nothing amazing.
